After spending much of the term on alternative uses for plants (while still covering the key points he needed to cover for each year), Paul thought they’d have a version of this today in CHILL form. Just showing some cool tips and different things they could do with plants and MAAAGIIIIIC. The play was coming along so well, and overall...he was much more relaxed this term and his mental health was better for it.
Greenhouse One was the location of their lesson today, and copious amounts of various plants littered the ground in different pots and containers. It was cold...very cold, this time of the year, and Paul had made it quite warm in the greenhouse so that they’d be comfortable and welcomed WARMLY to this midday lesson.
Paul had cleared the tables away and put differently colored cushions on the ground for the students to sit on. He picked a purple one for himself and got comfy. Bum wigggggggling and taking deep breaths and getting himself MENTALLY PREPPED for this. Maybe they’d do a warm up.
“Everyone find a pillow and sit criss-cross, please. We’ll do some BREATHING exercises to begin.”
When he first started at Hogwarts, the first two or so years, he would always start class like this. Then...he just got too impatient with it so now it only happened once or twice a term depending on his brainspace.
OOC: Hi guys! Welcome to the first and only Herbology lesson! This term, Paul took special interest in alternative or practical uses for plants! Just so that this lesson doesn’t seem like it’s out of left field xD My assignment will up shortly. <3 I’ll be trying to move this on tomorrow! MWUAH!
After listening to the instructions and jotting down notes about how to preform the spell, Emmalyn hoisted herself up off her fluffy pink pillow and started towards the side of the greenhouse.
The many potted plants were of all different types. Some with big leaves, some with small, some with flowers, and some without. She let her nose guide her up and down the sides of the greenhouse, searching for the perfect plant to extract the essential oils from.
Finally, she found the perfect plant. The patchouli plants green leaves were plentiful and she knew that it was the one she wanted. After pulling out her wand and getting her vial ready, she practiced the motion of the spell. A forward cast then flick back. She repeated the movement several times, to be sure, before attempting to add the incantation.
She took a deep breath then gave the spell a try. Forward cast and flick back of her wand just as she said "natatraho" it produced nothing. She studied the plant and realized that she should probably be pointing directly at the leaves. It was the leaves of the patchouli plant that she would be extracting the essential oils from.
Her next attempt was ready to begin. She aimed her focus to the leaves of the patchouli plant, cast and flicked her wand while more clearly enunciating "NAH-TAH-TRAH-HOH." Bingo! It worked!! A small amount of essential oil trailed from the tip of her wand. Not nearly as plentiful as Professor Myers, but it was there. She quickly picked up her vial and guided the liquid inside.
Her heart was bursting with excitement. It was one of the very first time the entire year that she had been able to preform a spell, without help, on her second try. She decided she must try again to add to her essential oil levels in her vial. She raised her wand and said "natatraho" while flicking it back like she had just caught a fish. The trail of patchouli oil was larger and, once added to her first extraction, filled her vial.
Daehyun had no idea what to do with the oil, but he would probably use it to practice more what they'd done in Divination a while ago. Win-win!
He moved from his cushion to pick up a tangerine plant because maybe the oil would actually be good for skincare before returning and getting himself comfortable again. Now the wand movement... and the incantation... those worried him. Mostly because he would look like a bumbling buffoon if he did anything wrong and nothing happened. If he was going to "go fishing" with his wand instead of a fishing rod, he wanted to at least get some satisfying results out of it.
So focus. Complete focus.
Mimicking professor Myers' movements, he whipped his wand at the plant standing in front of him, and whipped it back, all while saying clearly, "Natatraho!" To his surprise, essence came out in the form of a string attached to his wand, and only then did he realize that he hadn't expected it to work on the first try, so he didn't have a container for it. Oh, boy.
His bag. Right. He had vials in his bag.
Concentrating on not spilling and wasting any essential oil, he clumsily rummaged through his bag until he'd found a vial, in which he finally put the oil. He sealed the top, and he was all done.

There was a fair amount of wiggling and stretching and deep breathing happening. Arms were stretched up as high as possible and she rolled her neck around as instructed. It was all super helpful in clearing her head and getting her focused in on the days lesson. Good work on that professor.
Rylee listened to what all was said about essential oils having pulled out some parchment and her quill to take down notes. Lots of notes not wanting to miss anything on this topic.
Eeeeeee! They were getting to extract oils from a plant AND keep it too! Excited little wiggles. Super awesome! She knew Rian would just love it and probably even make her something really special with it. Maybe she would use it to make a new perfume!
Rylee turned all her attention or about as much as she could manage onto Professor Myers. Natatraho. That was a bit of a mouthful. Nah-tah-trah-hoh. Yeah, definitely going to have to make sure to practice that a few times. As for the wand movement...that didn't seem so hard. A fishing motion. Cast out and pull back in. Simple enough if done correctly. That would have to be worked on a bit too.
"Natatraho..nataraho.." she whispered over and over to herself in order to get a good feel of the incantation first.

He got the impression Professor Myers hadn't been impressed with his answer. Well, Max wasn't impressed that the Professor had gotten his name wrong, so... Mr Carten? Who was Mr Carten? Hmph.
With a little frown, Max got to his feet and followed his classmates to the bench with the plants. He chose the cinnamon plant simply because it was a smell he liked.
Wand and empty vial at the ready, Max did his best to mimic what the Professor had demonstrated. He whipped his wand toward the plant with a "Nata," and then whipped it right back with a "Traho!"
It actually worked! First time!
Just like Myers had shown them, the essence had attached to the end of the wand. Before he could navigate it into his vial however, it dropped and splashed on the floor.

“SOOOO many of you raised very good points and most of you were correct.” Besides you, Zoryn Spinnet. Ahem. Not that her idea was bad...or one that people didn’t often make; it was done very often. “The OFFICIAL definition of an essential oil is…. DRUMROLL--” Paul provided his own drum roll by hitting the ground FIERCELY with his palms-- “A natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source from which it is extracted.”
AND TADA. ESSENTIAL OILS.
“We will be learning three things...today, in regard to uses plants possess for us. The first one is, if you haven’t guessed, how to extract the essential oil from a plant. You will see...on either side of us along the edge of the greenhouse, I have many potted plants. Pick one and...try to extract that essential oil. The spell is NOT hard to perform, but the WAND MOVEMENT is very precise. The incantation is ’natatraho.’ That is NAH-TAH-TRAH-HOH. Emphasis goes on the TAH. The wand movement...is…” And Paul flung his wand forward on the NATA- “Like you’re fishing. Whip your wand at the plant on the NATA aaaaand on the TRAHO--” Paul whipped it back, as if he WERE fishing with a fishing rod. “The essence will look like a strand attaching to the tip of your wand.” Paul summoned a plant from the side, a clove plant to be exact, and thought he would demonstrate. He called out “NATATRAHO--” flinging his wand forward, then YANKING it back suddenly, and an amber colored liquid, almost in stringlike fashion, followed his wand tip as if attached. Paul then grabbed a vial from his pocket and carefully lowered the string-liquid into the glass and...then corked the top.
“SOOOO practice the spell and the wand movement...pick a plant and...grab a vial...and GO! I will be walking around if you need any help!” Paul beamed and pocketed the clove oil. “Keep in mind that some of these oils would need to be distilled before use! SO whichever you end up getting, make sure to do your research after class! And YES you can keep your oil! It’s yours!”
Oh, that was cool, they would be using spells today. That wasn't always the case in herbology. Night quickly copied the notes on the board.
Quote:
Night's Notes Essential Oils
A natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source from which it is extracted.
natatraho - incantation for extracting essential oils
(Nah-tah-TRA-hoe)
whip at plant at "NATA and "TRAHO"
She made her way over to the mint plants and began whispering the incantation and practicing her arm movements, being careful not to hit anyone if she got too out of hand.
Zarina grinned at Professor Meyers energy. She didn't know how he had this much energy in the morning but she gave him props. Well of course her answer was right. Not that she cared. Well alright she semi cared. Now onto the lesson it seemed like. He seemed very animated and she raised her brows at his exaggerations and movements. She snorted to herself and got the gist down though. He was a comedy act and Zae liked it. She took her quill out and began to scribble down some notes.
So the spells was Natatraho? Hmmm interesting name. The pronunciation as Professor Meyer clearly explained it was, "NAH-TAH-TRAH-HOH" But you have to emphasize the TAH. She chuckled and thought this wasn't her usual note taking skills. The wand movement was whipping like she was fishing. Alright got it. This slytherin would practice the spell movement first and then pick her plant. The one smelling like Lavender was luring her. She shook her head and went to the task at hand.
She got her wand out of her robes and said, "Natatraho?" Did she pronounce that right? She had no ideaa. Well she would figure it out soon enough. She did the fishing like wand movement and whipped it and said,
"Natatraho!"
ANNNDDD.....
Nothing happened. Welp that was a dud. She shrugged and knew it was gonna happen.

Practice made perfect, yes? Junia moved towards the plants at the back, repeating the incantation to herself quietly. She wanted it to feel natural so she could concentrate on the wand movement when the time came to really perform the spell. "natatraho... natatraho...natatraho...natatraho..." Bit of a mouthful, that incantation was.
She'd never been fishing, did Myers know? Didn't really see the appeal, but she supposed the connection would help some people. Some people who weren't Junia Botros.
Anywhoo...
She mimicked his movements as she looked over the plants thoughtfully, trying to decide which she'd use. Rose seemed like the likely choice for her, though peppermint could be nice, too. Hm.

It turned out that Katy was familiar with the spell, although she hadn't tried it before. She was nodding eagerly as the professor demonstrated the incantation and wand movement, and Katy almost gasped and clapped at the actual extraction. That was MUCH easier than doing it by hand, although there was still some distillation and stabilization required before it could be used. But easier by far.
Maybe she did clap, actually. He'd deserved it.
And then it was time to practice the spell. Katy was tempted to skip the practice and move right on to the extraction... if she had enough time, she could make use of the free supplies and take a sampling of everything back to her dorm. Buuuut, this was more about practice makes perfect and, since they'd sold off the lotions and perfumes business, Katy had much less use for essential oils. Just the potiony ones...
Katy practiced the flycasting motion with her wand as she retrieved some sprigs of lavender. Lavender was a perfect additive for calming and stomach settling when potions needed to be imbibed. And a phial. And... to begin.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Precision was her specialty.
No, really, most of the time up in her lab it was the difference between say a silky smooth doll and one that had patches of skin falling off intermittently--or a proper necrosis potion and some diluted itching potion.
Jessa levitated a plant over to her cushion, a lavender one as it turned out to be.
If she already knew the spell....would she still have to practice it? Again, Professor Myers wasn't a stickler and it wasn't likely he'd pitch a fit over her casting a spell she'd previously learned without putting in the practice of her classmates but the hesitation and anxiety were real.. Funny how this wouldn't even have been an issue just a couple months back.
The 15 year old looked about the greenhouse trying to gauge how far along in the practising her classmates had gotten anyway.
With that many of them at it at once--and all at such different stages, her skipping on ahead to the actual thing might have been less noticeable. Timing it right, the Ravenclaw drew her wand. Much like the Professor had demonstrated, she flung her wand arm forward on the first half of the word then pulled it back as if fishing on the second half, uttering, "Natatraho!" As she did.
Pulling back, she watched as the liquid flowed from the plant in a trailing motion behind it. Where was this going again? Did she leave it here floating? Was there a jar? This was probably why paying attention in class was such a good idea.
Nice one, Jessa.

The neck rolling and arm stretching had actually helped him release not only the tension he held from the hawk-goings-on, but some that he hadn't even known he was carrying. With that tension gone, Ronan found it easier to pay attention to the lesson. Unfortunately, he hadn't had anything to add that his classmates hadn't already said about essential oils, so he'd kept silent.
Professor Myers moved pretty quickly to the activity part, though. "Nah-tah-trah-hoh. Nah-tah-trah-hoh. Natatraho." The wand movement seemed pretty easy too, especially since there wasn't an actual fishing line involved to get stuck in any low hanging branches or anything. The problem for him was choosing one of the plants, as they all held a certain appeal. After a fair bit of thought, he decided to go with cinnamon. He liked spices, after all, and cinnamon was a common one. Just not in oil form.
He gathered a vial, then headed towards the nearest cinnamon plant. Which was surprisingly free. Did no one recognize the awesomeness that was cinnamon? The versatility? The taste of it when mixed with brown sugar? Or when used by a skilled chef? Anyway, he readied his wand. "Natatraho!" He whipped his wand out and pulled it back as if fishing. And his spell was successful, as cinnamon oil was trailing along between his wand and the plant.
Quickly, he twirled his wand so that the stringing oil broke away, and tipped the rest into the vial, stoppering it after.

Time to get aaaaaaallllllllllll of the notes down. Which was hard considering how excitable Professor Myers was. That, and he spoke quickly.
SPOILER!!: Notes
Shera Ben-Ari
First Year
Ravenclaw
Essential oil - natural oil usually got through distillation; has characteristic fragrance of plant/other source
Natatraho
Movement - fishing line
Effect - extracts essential oil
And that was as good as they were going to get.
Jumping to her feet, Shera grabbed one of the vials for her own use, before heading over to the plants in question. There were too many options for her at this point in time. Rose? Jasmine? Peppermint? Peppermint was always nice but there was a risk of it making her feel hungry... Rose or Jasmine was clearly what it came to.
Rose. That was her ultimate decision based entirely on the fact that it happened to be closer to her.
"Natatraho," she spoke as clearly as she could, flinging her wand forward and back like the Professor had demonstrated. Nothing had happened immediately. It didn't surprise Shera, most of the spells that she had tried either had gone not all the way or nothing had happened at first. Just meant that she had to try harder, and keep going until she performed the spell properly. She went over the wand movement again, making sure that she was yanking it back more like Professor Myers had.
"Natatraho," she tried again. A smile crossed her face as she did end up with Rose essential oil coming towards her wand. That quickly changed when it shot towards her rather than her wand and ended up on her clothing.
This wasn't going as well for her as she would've hoped.
Oh? What was jojoba? Err… “Sir, I could be wrong but I believe it’s from Mexico… I know it from some skin stuff I’ve used.” She really didn’t know any more because this was a while back… Hopefully this was accurate enough. She had mostly used this stuff when she spent more time with her Muggle cousins. They didn’t see each other since Kye started Hogwarts though. Quite sad, but it made it easier to hide the whole magic thing. Maybe after graduation? Anyway…
SPOILER!!: Notes
A natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source from which it is extracted.
Extracting oil from plant:
Natatraho – Nah TAH Trah Hoh
Whip wand at plant -> Nata
Whip back -> Traho
Kye jotted down her notes, and began practicing. Whip… “Nata… and back! traho……. NaTA… traho!” After a few tries, Kye felt like she had the hang of the movement with the incantation. She picked out a vial, and went to scout out a plant. Hmmm did she have a preference? It was a bit of a tie right now between Lavender and Jasmine… or maybe Rose?
She walked over to the three she liked and smelled each. Mmmm… today she’d go for the jasmine. She got the vial open and ready, and tried to concentrate on the spell. “Natatraho,” she waved her wand like a fishing hook (although she had no practice fishing, because no thank you). She waited a mere moment before realizing that this hadn’t worked properly. Hmmm okay, time to try again! “Natatraho!” she tried saying a bit more demanding. She thought she saw the plant move a little… maybe?
What was she doing wrong?? "Natatraho. Natatraho!... Nata...traho!"
THERE. Urgh. Finally. She watched as the jasmine oil flowed out and she directed it into her vial. Now the only question was, did she need to distill it?
Alyce tried so hard not to laugh at Professor Myers reaction after she said rosemary oils can stop hair loss. "Sure, Professor." She could asked her mother to send her some of that rosemary oils, she just need to know when's Professor Myers birthday.
They're going to extract essential oil from a plant?! Sweet! The redhead listened carefully when Myers explained to them about the spell. Natatraho? That sounds mouthful. But the wand movement look easy enough. She's pretty confident she can do the spell so no practice for her. Now for the plant. What should she pick? Hmm...
After much deliberations, Alyce decided to go with chamomile. She could used some chamomile oil for her hair. She picked the nearest chamomile plant. "Natatraho!" She whipped her wand out and flicked it back, just like fishing. She watched as the chamomile oil was trailing her wand, Alyce quickly grabbed her vial and very carefully lowered the oil into her vial then closed it.

Patrick had sat quietly as they walked through the breathing exercises. He followed along with his classmates, but he didn’t really need any instruction on this because he often did this ath one with his grandmother, when she wanted to do yoga. Smiling when he heard they were moving on he felt great.
Directing his attention back to Professor Meyers he heard what he was saying about the essential oils. His mama’s friends at school were all raging about this before they moved across the pond. He watched animatedly as he demonstrated the spell and extracting something from the plant. Sounded easy enough.
After walking along the wall of plants he found the Sandlewood plant and decided that would be the one for him. Walking back over to the desk he quickly set it down and grabbed his wand. Nah-TAH-trah-hoh he mumbled under his breath putting the emphasis on the tah like he was told to. Now he just needed to pretend he was fly fishing for the extraction. Deep breath in,[b] “NATA-”[b] He flicked his wand forward. “traho” he said while flicking his wand back toward him. Watching a little strand try to wiggle out, but it did nothing. He decided one more try would be best.
“Natatraho” he stated with confidence watching the strand flow out of the plant as if it were attached with his wand. He smiled feeling like he actually may have done something right.
natatraho.’ That is NAH-TAH-TRAH-HOH. Emphasis goes on the TAH

Ooooh, they were going to learn how to extract the oils from the plants. That was pretty cool. Now that she was thinking of it, Natalie supposed that that was how her grandmother did it. She had a little greenhouse herself with lots of plants and she also had a collection of those oils in little vials. Now she knew! Fascinating.
Natalie listened very carefully, since this activity was something she was actually fairly interested in. Natatraho. Natatraho... And the wand movement, yes, that seemed very tricky. Wandwork was not Natalie's specialty, but she was sure going to try for this one. Watching Professor Myers, she copied his wand movements with her hand, but without her wand yet.
"Natatratoh... Natatra..ho?" She had forgotten it already, that was, until she heard a student nearby saying it right. "Natatraho," she said more confidently. Then she got off of her pillow and went to grab a vial and to look for a plant. When she settled on one (sandalwood, which she knew nothing about), Natalie found an empty work space and stared down at her plant. It WOULD cooperate.
Natalie extracted her wand from her robes and focused on the plant veeeeery closely, the vial in her other hand. She muttered the incantation to herself a few times before standing tall and giving it a go.
"Natatraho," she said as she... well, she sort of forgot the wand movement already. Her wand went down and then she paused... and then she brought it back up. She did it wrong, so naturally her spell didn't work, so she looked over and watched another student who had done it successfully and watched their wand movement. Riiiiight, a fishing pole, which she was fairly sure that no one in the classroom had used before.
Natalie took a deep breath and tried again. And again. AND AGAIN. Several tries had gone by and she was starting to get frustrated. She just wanted some SANDALWOOD OIL. For WHATEVER purpose it was supposed to serve. Feeling her frustration bubble, Natalie took another deep breath and calmed down. Okay. One more try. One more try and if it didn't work she was gonna give up and make her brother do it.
"Natatraho," she said fiercely, her wand moving in her hand like a swift fishing pole. Very much to her pleasant surprise, a little pale yellow string of oil came out of the plant and up to the tip of her wand. Natalie squeaked in excitement and then hurriedly grabbed her vial and put the tip of her wand inside, filling it up with that yellow oil.

WAIT. WAIT........ HAD Professor Myers just singled out her answer in a 'i hope everyone heard that'. UGH, she was officially sitting next to Isa Wright ALL THE TIME NOW, because that Hufflepuff Captain had some serious good luck charms. At least when it came to all things Herbology, she did. See, it was a trade-off they had going; she helped Isa with flying over the summer and whenever though the girl didn't need as much anymore as she was doing quite STELLAR, but then Isa would help Sky with all the plant things. Really, it was a win-win for the both of them.
Extracting oil, because as if that wasn't obvious by the lead-up questions. She watched curiously as the herbology professor worked to demonstrate the incantation for them and wow, that was actually kind of cool. And kind of reminded her of how one might got about extracting memories to view in a pensieve. Wait, was that how that worked? She'd only READ about pensieves, but maybe there was a spell that was used and it was this very spell.... not that she had a pensieve or a memory that she really wanted to share with anyone.
Selecting a pot at random, which she HOPED was peppermint or clove, or maybe even cinnamon, she moved it carefully to the side as she set on practicing the incantation. Natatraho. That was a mouthful, wasn't it?
"Nata... Nata..." Wait, what was it again?? "Nahhhh-ta-trah-hoe?" Okay, Myers hadn't exaggerated so much. Focus, Skylar Diggory, focus. She glanced over at the Puff Captain, hoping for some inspiration from her. And yet, this was just spells; she could do spells.

Relax and get comfortable, that is exactly what she did. Following the instructions of the breathing exercises. Which felt more like a warm up for quidditch than breathing. She rolled her neck….. Breathe in… breathe out. Breathe in… and out. She started rolling her head the other way. Still keeping her breathing the same. Then they moved on to the arms. Yep almost exactly like warming up stretches for quidditch. It took a lot for Juni not to laugh at Professors Myers dramatic explanations... reaching for your dreams. Hehe.
Interesting….
Essential oils definitely a herbology lesson she was going to enjoy. ”Peppermint and Eucalyptus oils are good for stress.” She knew that much she had a peppermint and Eucalyptus diffuser in her room at home. It was very helpful and smelled amazing.
And now they were going to be extracting the oils from the plants. Which plant did she want to extract the oils from? There was the eucalyptus plant here in the greenhouse, and she was used to that scent. So she would probably stick with that. Unless something else caught her eye in the meantime.
But first she needed to make sure she could do the extraction with the spell and wand movement. ”Nah-Tah-Trah-Hoh. Nah-Tah-Trah-Hoh. Natatraho. Natatraho.” There she was sure she had that part down. Now for the wand movement, whip like a fishing pole. Like Juni had ever used a fishing pole before. Okay maybe once or twice. She flung her wand forward and yanked it back. As if she had extracted the oil.
She got up from her pillow and went pick out a plant, sticking with the eucalyptus, as she had planned. Grabbing a vial on the way to the plant. She stepped up the eucalyptus plant. ”Natatraho.” Flinging her wand toward the plant. The first time obviously didn’t work. So she tried again. And again.
”Natatraho.” Flinging her wand toward the plant like it was a fishing pole, a green oily substance was coming to the the end of her wand. She had done it. She put the oil in the vial and now she was done.

This was frustrating. Honestly, Night just liked to use the stuff, she didn't care about extracting it. Somebody else could do the hard work, Night didn't have to.
She brushed those thoughts off almost as soon as they had appeared. Hey, this might not have been as fun as, say, charms, but it was certainly simpler than extracting the oil by hand. And besides, why should someone else have to suffer do something Night was perfectly capable of?
"Nah-TAH-tra-ho," she muttered. No, that wasn't right, emphasis on the TRAH!, not the TAH. "Nah-tah-TRAH-ho."
Drip. That was it. Just one single drop of extract. Night sighed. Maybe it was her pronunciation? Or did she have to be more precise in her movements? Either way, Night was determined to get that mint oil eventually.

Noticing Night was having some difficulty with the spell, Emmalyn walked over to stand next to her. "Do you need some help?" she asked her friend. "I think this is the only spell this entire year that I've been able to do. I'll help if I can."
She grabbed an empty vial and waited next to Night to see if she would like assistance. "Have you ever gone fly fishing? My dad used to take me when we lived in Seattle." She held up her wand and made the cast and flick motion. "The wand movement is very similar."

With the incantation down it was time to give the hand movement a proper try. Pulling her wand free of it's holster on her wrist she gripped it firmly. First she flicked her wand arm forward sharply as if casting a fishing line and then quickly pulled it back as if reeling in a fish. Sharp flick of the wrist and pulling it back. Again and again.
Incantation down. Check. Hand movement down. Check. So far she was two for two. Now came the hard part. Putting her practice to the test on a plant. After she choose one that is.
Rylee glanced around and getting to her feet went to collect a small glass vial to store the essence in as well as a plant. In selecting the plant she allowed her nose to do the work for her. A lovely flowery fragrance. It reminded her of home. Taking the potted plant with her she returned to her pillow and sat down setting the pot in front of her at her feet.
Flexing her fingers around the smooth wood of her wand she aimed it at the flower. "Natatraho," the ginger cast firmly and clearly flicking her wand forward and then pulling it back as she gave the last part of the incantation. A very thin thread like substance trailed from the tip of her wand. That had to be the essence of the flower! With the hugest smile ever on her face she used her free hand to push the stopped from the vial before guiding the strand of essence into the opening carefully as best she could. Putting the stopper back into place she held it up to her face to look at.

Skyler didn't exactlh know whay she was doing so, she decided to just wing it. She walked over to some plants...near Zoryn, only because the older girl was the only person she knew. The plants were a couple of mundane ones it looked like. lambs ear her brain told her.
Taking a minute, she carefully rubbed her index and thumb betweeen a leaf. It was so fuzzy! So she got to work on the spell.
"Sorry if I accidentally catch you on fire," she whispered as if the plant could hear her.
Setting her wand on the table, she prsctised the incantation first. Again, with the setting plants on fire fear.
Natatraho. That's what it was supposed to be.
"Na-cho-tra-ho." She said.
Nacho??! Why did she say nacho?!

That is a COOL new spell!.... but quite a mouthful to pronounce. Ace watched unblinking as the Herbologist demo'd the spell for them. That looked simple, at least the wandstroke was. But getting used to that spell and the timing, oh thats something else.
He took a potted lemongrass and lay it in front of him, but not before leaning in to get a good whiff. Oh this is gonna be sooo good if he gets this right. But speaking of which, he gotta get that tongue-twisty spell down first. "NaTAtraho...naTAtraho..." he repeated this a few times verbally, so he would get used to how it sounds. Slowly he softened his voice as he went on until the spell was echoing clearly in his head.
Trying it with the wandstroke? He made an attempt... and nothing. Yep definitely trickier than what the Myers made it appear. "NaTAtraho" he repeated again out loud, trying to line up his wandstroke to the proper syllables. After a few attempts of verbalizing with the wandstroke he suddenly found himself staring at the sliver of ooze hanging at the end of his wand-- Oh! He got an essence out! In goes the first successful attempt in a vial. Ace tried it again, this time making really good effort of making his usual non-verbal way of casting work, and after several more attempts he got his second sliver of ooze floating in the air. Finally!
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Everything was going so swell! The spell, while a tongue twister on TOP of that difficult wand movement. Not that the movement was hard itself, but timing it right with the incantation was difficult. He had been walking around, helping students here and there tilt their wands the right way...say it again...and he was extremely happy that people seemed to be getting it right! And that....was when things stopped going smoothly and when things started going badly.
"O-Okay everyone---get a m-move on because we have more th-things to learn--maybe just one--" His face...grew warm. His throat had suddenly felt croaky, like a frog, and everything was...getting heavy in his head. And then--
*BLEEERRRGGGHHH*
There went his lunch.
All on the ground.
IN FRONT OF THE STUDENTS.

She was happily working on her spell when Professor Myers started talking. Her attention was drawn back to him as she listened for further instructions. However, his speech was strange then he threw up all over the floor. So gross. Right then and there she knew for sure she would never become a healer. Nope. She would happily stay away from sick people and let someone else take care of that.

“Um, Professor, are you okay?” She felt the room grow warm and her face flush. The sight and smell of puke always turned her stomach. She gulped and looked away before her lunch ended up on the floor as well. "Is there someone that can help him?" She called out, hoping one of the prefects would clean up the mess before someone else got sick.

Had Professor Myers really just puked his guts up all over the greenhouse floor? Max was not prepared for this, not one bit. GROSS. Professors weren't meant to puke in the middle of class!
Wrinkling his nose, the Slytherin backed further away and covered his nose with the sleeve of his robe. It was warm in here and the smell of vomit turned his tummy.
Where were the Prefects? It was their job to sort this out!
