| | |  Edible Things Garden
credit: hermionesclone Located on the third tier of the common room, one will find the new variation on the indoor garden that has been housed in the Hufflepuff Common Room for years now. Everything in this garden is edible. There are flowers, berries, and other fruit yielding shrubs and trees. Many of these plants will be easy on any animals that may stray into the are as well, but to be safe, this area is unreachable unless human. Sour grass, blossoms, buzz buttons, and lavender are some of the flowers located here.
If you've got a green thumb, the small work bench will give you the opportunity to do some planting on your own. The charms on the space ensure the temperature and lighting are perfect for the plant life. Not into Herbology? (HMMPH!) On the floor, an array of tree stumps are arranged in a semi circle so why not come sit and enjoy the serene space, instead? Either way, this new addition to the room is one you're sure to enjoy. You may even find a few tasty surprises waiting for you...
OOC: Feel free to make up whatever edible things your character finds in here, as long as it isn't completely outrageous. Must be plant based. [click for visual layout] | |

So there were a few things about Farah C. Dubey that you needed to know. 1: She tended to venture into places. 2: She loved to eat. 3: One of her favorites was fruit (and cookies)... (mostly cookies).
So it wasn't unusual that she had ventured into this garden of edible plants. In fact, she'd call it fate.
Farah excitedly looked around at everything this little garden had to offer. Trees and bushes with fruit, berries, and yummy goodness. Seeing as it was Hogwarts, Farah figured there would be some... exotic fruit about somewhere. She went deeper into the garden to take a look. Along the way, she pulled a peach off a branch and wiped it off before taking a bite.
An afternoon in heaven.
Now if only Steph was here, it would make it more amazing. She was the plant guru.

Maybe she'll pick out some fresh fruit to enjoy or just eat the cookies the redhead had brought along. Stepping up the stairs, she quickly noticed her best friend, curly hair and all. Farah could quickly be noticed by her hair or loud personality. Finding a place to sit, Steph perched herself on a chair with her tea and treats.
"What are you eating?" She asked Farah, who wasn't too far away from her.

She reached up to pick an odd looking fruit off a low hanging branch, a good chunk of peach in her mouth, when a voice came out of nowhere. Farah jumped and accidentally spit out her peach while turning around to see Steph.
STEPH!
She instantly regained her composure and went over to hug her, careful of the things in her arms. " A peach. What are... oh are those cookies?" Farah asked before taking one and then offering her a bite of her peach in return. Sharing is caring. " I was just thinking about you." She said before taking a bite of the cookie.

After seeing Professor Myers in the state he was in during their most recent Herbology class, Emmalyn was very worried about his heath. There had been a lot of strange occurrences at Hogwarts over the past few months and she wondered if his sudden illness had anything to do with it. After searching the main common room area, she decided to take a look in the Edible things garden. It seemed a logical place for her Head of House to be.
She quietly climbed the stairs, hoping to not startle anyone that may be relaxing in the area, and softly called out “Professor Myers? Are you up here? “ Her nose and eyes took in all of the wonderful life around her. While her first love was quidditch, her second love was quickly becoming nature. Plants, animals, and all living things warmed her heart and she wished to surround herself with life.

Paul thought so. He smiled when he heard someone approach and smiled wider when he saw it was Emmalyn. "I am, m'dear! Come right up!" he said warmly. He felt muuuuuuch better recently. Her light steps took her a bit further up the stairs and onto the main Edible Garden level before she heard his reply. She felt instantly at ease by the sound of his voice. Not too long ago he had looked deathly ill and she had feared the worst for her beloved head of house. “Hello, sir, you are looking much better than you did in class.” She moved closer and eyed the carrots he was near. “How are you feeling? You gave us all quite the scare.” Her eyes moved up and down his face, looking for any sign of illness remaining. He had looked so pale that day. She shivered at the thought.
Her hand absentmindedly brushed the tops of the leafy greens in the garden to her right. The gentle tickle against her palm put a slight grin on her face. She always found comfort from living things and food, so being near edible plants was one of her happy places.

Pfffft. Paul was GLAD he didn't feel like he had that day in class because that had been terrible. Awful. And he'd had to cancel classes for a week just to recuperate! "I had the flu. I think is what the healer said..." whatever it was, it had knocked the wind out of him. For...ever now, it seemed. "I'm glad I at least have students that worry about me...to have a scare about my well being!" he smiled warmly her direction. That was very nice, wasn't it? It was a beauty of teaching, it was, to have children who cared for you.
Then you had others...well, Paul, didn't care for them personality wise. But he wouldn't ever wish or welcome harm to them. He would never forget Daxton Prince. He found his mind wandering, now, onto what had ever happened to that depraved child...who'd been expelled....
"How are you doing? Preparing for exams?" he hoped. She was a bright kid. She'd do well!

The flu. She had experienced the flu a few years ago and knew first hand how horrible it was. "I'm glad it's passed and you are better. The flu isn't any fun at all." Her head shook and she unconsciously took a small step back. Sure, he looked fine now, and it had been a few weeks...but, it was better safe than sorry. She eyed his color once more, and he did look healthy. And, of course she worried. He was her Head of House! Hufflepuff as the best house ever and he was the best Head of House in the entire school.
"I'm ready for exams." She eagerly responded. "I can't wait to see how I do in all of my classes. I think potions has been the hardest for me, but herbology and care of magical creatures have been my favorites. Well, and flying. Flying is the best ever." She was getting excited as she spoke. Her eyes sparkled and she became more and more animated. "Did you know second years can bring their own brooms to Hogwarts? Isn't that the most wonderful thing!" Of course it was wonderful. How could it not be? "Someday I want to be the captain of the quidditch team. Oh, or maybe even prefect. Well, maybe not, I don't know. That one seems like a lot of work, but captain would be perfect." Her non stop chatter finally registered in her brain and she stopped. "Sorry, I get a bit worked up at times." She flashed a sweet smile in apology.
She leaned back in again, forgetting about the really nonexistent possibility that he could infect her, "Is there anything I should know for the Herbology exam?" Not that she expected him to give her any answers, but maybe he would hint to a chapter or topic she should focus a little more attention on. It was worth a try.

No, the flu had NOT been fun. It had actually been the least fun thing he had ever experienced. (Well.....in awhile.) He appreciated the girl's concern, though. He would have equally so for her! "Have you ever suffered with the flu?" he asked curiously. "I can't say I've ever gotten it before. I've a very good immune system, thank Merlin!"
Someone who was READY for exams? He was surprised, honestly, because most first years were terrified of their first upcoming examinations. There were always exceptions, though. "Ah...you like flying--" And then she kept talking. And talking. Paul found himself smiling though. What a vivacious little thing. She wanted quidditch captain... OR prefect. Well, Paul chuckled. "I will keep all of this in mind!" Wait, was she already on quidditch?! HOW COULD HE NOT REMEMBER? aHYES! She was a chaser. Yes yes! "If you continue to work hard, you may well get to be one of those things." Or both, depending. "Which you already work hard...so if you continue on that path...you'll be fine!" He nodded. "But potions usually gives students some complications...or difficulty. Not all, but I find many think it's hard at first." When she apologized, Paul shook his head and laughed gently. "No...no. It's fine. Don't be sorry."
Ahhh, is THIS why she had come to find him? To get ANSWERS? Paul laughed even more. "Emmalyn...is that the only reason you're worried about me?" he teased.

She nodded "I have had the flu before. A few years ago and it was horrible." She hoped to never experience that again. It had taken a good two weeks for her to fully recover from the ordeal.
She giggled at his kindness over her babbling. "I'll keep working hard. Have you seen how close we are to first place in House Points? If we all work just a little harder, maybe we can win next year." She was determined to do as well as she could for her house. They were her family. Possibly the only family she would have. She still didn't know if her father would let her come home for the summer break. They hadn't contacted her in any way since she left for Hogwarts. "I'll keep studying for potions." She said then leaned in a bit again to whisper "Professor Noble scares me."
"Oh, no! That's most defiantly not why I came to see you. Not at all, sir." Now she felt horrible. His tone was light, but what if he really thought she was only concerned for her own well being? That was not her intention at all. Plus, she was fairly confident her marks in class were great, so end of year exams weren't a huge deal. Yes, she would try her best, but her entire year didn't depend on them.
Quickly trying to change the subject, she added "Do you have any summer plans, sir?" Maybe he would be traveling to some exotic location to find new plants for class.
