Welcome to Dufftown! This small village, located in northeastern Scotland, offers activities to suit a wide range of interests. Enjoy a relaxing day perusing the shops along Balvenie and Fife Streets where you'll find a hair salon, ice cream parlour, and several shops selling various Muggle trinkets and clothes. Hungry? Sample some of the local fare in one of the pubs and restaurants.
Maybe you'd prefer sports to shopping. If that's the case, there's a football ground just around the corner from the shops. Grab some friends, and get a game going!
If history is more your thing, explore Balvenie Castle, built in the 13th century and once inhabited by Mary, Queen of Scots, or the ruins of Auchindoun Castle. Check out the clock tower, a building with a colourful history that once housed the town jail, or have a bite to eat at The Seven Stills, Dufftown's longest-running Scottish inn.
Have fun exploring the town and interacting with the locals, but remember to be on your best behaviour and keep your wands hidden!
OOC: This thread is, more or less, a weekend getaway on the final Saturday in May right before final exams come in full swing. Students going on this trip would have gotten permission slips signed and, so the Statute isn't broken, would have arrived to this burgh not far from Hogwarts by bus. This thread is being used for plot purposes; feel free to join in -- the more the merrier!
We kindly ask that you refrain from playing any Muggles (we have that covered), and please post only the student listed in your post-bit. Thank you!
Duncan Williams was not a man who cared very much for other people so, as it were, he paid very little attention to the effect of the spell Melanie had used against the professors. In fact, if it wasn't for his current state of mild panic, he would've congratulated his twin sister on her use of such a strong, albeit dark, piece of magic.
As it were, the Potions professor simply let Melanie drag him forward while a deep frown settled on his face. He didn't know who she was trying to convince because he, for one, wasn't going to believe that everything was fine. There were far too many students under possession here - something that he wasn't going to get an explanation about, by the looks of it - and Melanie had lost the most important tool at her arsenal: her wand.
And then she was telling him to go?! Leave her behind?! Now, it was his turn to fix her with a gaze; one filled with an incredulous look because, once again, did she know who she was talking to? She might've been the older one and the one who was generally in charge but he was still her twin brother. They were practically attached at the hip, that's the way it's always been ever since they were very young.
"Melanie...." he started. Eyes glanced from her to the members of Hogwarts castle and the Muggles surrounding them. There was an inner conflict brewing and simmering like a cauldron full of potion: whereas he was reluctant to leave the woman behind, he also wanted to get away from this entire disaster of a situation as quickly as possible. Being in prison didn't sound like his idea of fun.
"Stay safe," he whispered, giving the hand he was still clutching onto a gentle squeeze. It was about as far as he was going to go to show any kind of affection but it felt necessary right now. And with that, Duncan turned on his heel and ran out of there as quickly as his long limbs would carry him. He didn't know where he was running to and he didn't particularly care how many people he was pushing out of the way to get to his unknown destination but all he knew was that he needed to get out of there as quickly as possible.
Matt wished he didn't feel that bad for all of the Muggles and his fellow students who were possessed so he could simply ignore them all and just look for his sister, but alas. He kept moving some kids in the general direction of the two professors, but never stopping moving forward and away from them.
He wasn't exactly being that gentle anymore because as time passed, the more he could hear his heart in his ears. It was probably the adrenaline that was also helping to keep his cool at that point, and he kept searching. Moving students and searching.
He did hear some type of commotion coming from one of his sides and when he turned to send yet another kid towards the professors, he saw they had been tied together.
The Gryffindor let go of the random student whose arm he was holding and held his wand higher, not trying to hide it at all anymore. Magic was being used and he wasn't sure where it was coming from, but the statue of secrecy had already been broken so. Pretty much everyone was in danger.
Great.
And Anna was still missing.
The seventh year focused as much as he could and whipped his head around as he tried to find where the ropes had come from. It was when he saw an adult fumbling around, yelling at some OTHER adult to "go, GO", which set off a red alert in Matt's mind. "Incarcerous!" He exclaimed, pointing his wand through a gap between the crowd and at the person who was frantically moving as if looking for something.

Kalen was looking around, trying to make sure he had eyes on every single Hogwarts student he could find. Sure they annoyed him at times, especially when they didn’t listen.. but he was one of people in charge this trip and he didn’t want anyone to get hurt!
He wasn’t shocked at first that kids weren’t listening to him, but his eyebrows rose a bit when people started to actually come over towards him and Laurel. He leaned down to his fellow companion as she asked about a plan..
Plan.. right.
He didn’t think a portkey would work, “Maybe a side along apparition to just outside the grounds, if you want to take a few kids. I’ll stay here and watch the rest and Kaysha.” He whispered softly as he took a step forwards, fully not paying attention to anything that was behind him.
He was thinking fast about how to get the kids uncursed and he wished he knew about Potions or counterspells, maybe if they destroyed what was In Kaysha’s bag? Or her wand?
He had taken one more step when suddenly he felt like something he wrapped around his mouth and throat and strole his breath. His hand moved to his neck as he scratched and clawed at the shirt there, but it wasn’t tight at all. He gasped for air, as his hand reached for his wand, his face was starting to turn red from lack of oxygen and spots were forming in his vision..
He was about to turn to Laurel when.. ropes shot around him and Laurel and he couldn’t help but fall over..
He kept gasping for air.. barely able to get the needed amount of air into his lungs.. and his wand was in his hand.. pointed down.. Merlin..

What was that they were saying? Expose the inequality? End the struggle? The words reminded him of a strange dream he'd had just before Christmas...
He glanced across at Zita when she mentioned a shield. Good. That meant she was okay and hadn't turned into some zombie nutter like the rest had. Being socially awkward and preferring not to be amongst the crowd had probably saved them from being zombified and Max took several more steps away despite the Mr Librarian calling for them to gather around.
"Is he nuts!? I'm not going over there with all that crazy. What if it's contagious?" Um. Thanks, but no thanks. He was good here, yep.
He knew it was probably against the rules, but honestly, rules were the last thing on his mind right now. Maxton dropped his ice cream cone, drew his wand and muttered the incantation to cast a shield charm that would cover both himself and Zita.
This was all getting weirder and weirder and Zita had kept her hand on her wand, though she didn't have to do anything since Max was thinking clearly and put a shield around them. Still, though she clutched his arm.
"I think we need to head to that castle or at least move further away from this group." She heard the professors but there was no way she was going to be going near any of them.
Though James.....
Her eyes widened seeing him and then Derf. Taking a deep breath she took another step away. "Max lets just move, the professors will help them, we need to get out of the way of these crazy muggles and the wands of whatever you want to call them right now."

Scarlett couldn't help herself - she was tempted to run right into the store, to avoid this mess until the scene calmed down after that bus ran through. It was the smart thing to do. Keep your head down, and nothing bad will happen - right? That was how it usually went for Scarlett. But she couldn't help herself - she was curious about the aftermath of the bus incident. She had just begun to wonder if the Ilvermorny professors would reveal themselves, or if they would just sneak away into the crowd, acting like they hadn't been there at all...when a weird feeling started to overtake her.
Scarlett felt...calm all of a sudden. More than calm. Almost like...she could take a nap right here, right now. In the middle of the street. In fact...she was asleep, wasn't she? Her brain seemed to think so. She was just kind of....there. Existing. And speaking.
"EXPOSE THE INEQUALITY. END THE STRUGGLE."
That was all her brain could comprehend right now. Just those six words. Over and over again. She was awake, her eyes were open, but she wasn't seeing anything. She wasn't moving either. She was just standing there, perfectly still aside from her mouth repeating the chant over and over.

The old man hadn't even realized that he had knocked some lady with his cane. He was far too distracted by what the creepy brats were saying and trying to catch his breath from all of that yelling he had been doing.
But then that was when he saw red sparks and his eyes widened so big that he looked like a deer in headlights.
"FIND COVER!" Archie screamed at the top of his lungs. "IT'S GONNA BLOW!"
He dove, prepared to break a hip if it meant saving his life. Little did he know he had been hit by magical ropes in the process. Though he certainly knew it the instant he had hit the ground and was finding it harder and harder to breathe.
"I'VE ... BEEN ... HIT!" he screamed in between gasping breaths as the ropes tightened. "SAVE ... YOUR ... SELVES!"

As soon as that bright-white butterfly appeared in her office, Regina's mind instantly assumed the worst. Someone did something to expose them to the No-Majs. Kalen's hurried voice alluded to that. But there was something else just as bad that made the headmistress bolt out of her office before his message was even finished, sending out translucent alligators from her wand in all directions as she lifted a certain jinx.
CRACK!
Her figure appeared in the middle of the street, not caring about the exposure since it was far too late for discretion. Right away her senses were flooded -- Hogwarts students were repeating that haunting chant, No-Majs were bewildered, Laurel and Kalen were tied up, and Kaysha was looking rather cold and just standing there with a bag in her hand. Merlin.
Though her attention didn't stay there very long. Soon an oddly familiar American voice hit her. Melanie Williams. That, really, explained everything. The woman spun around on her heel, her wand drawn. She saw her fumbling through the crowd, wandless, as her brother made a run for it.
She let the coward run. Maybe Hirsch would watch up to him or one of the others that was on the way. However, the other Williams twin wasn't so lucky. With a swift movement of her wand, her former colleague's wand was summoned from wherever it had fallen and was grasped firmly in her hand. "I think you dropped something, Mel."
And then one of the No-Majs wound up getting hit by a spell. The headmistress gave a quick flick of her wand so that the ropes vanished, but other spells -- Langlock and Fulgari -- instantly followed and were casted Melanie's way.

So much for a relaxing weekend! Gaston thought that since he wasn't needed to chaperone the Dufftown trip, he could use this time to unwind - and maybe visit his wife and daughter in Hogsmeade. But that didn't happen. He was in his office lost in one of his clasdic romance novels when he saw the headmistress's alligator Patronus. Its message nearly caused him to fall out of his chair, but the shock lasted all of half a second. Fearing the worst, he headed for the door.
He appeared in the Dufftown street only seconds after Hawthorne. His bright blue eyes darted in all directions, taking in the bizarre scene around him, before landing on the Ilvermorny woman. His mind started to connect the dots. He got a bad vibe from that woman from the first time he saw her, but this was beyond anything he could've imagined! A storm of emotions roiled within him... confusion, sadness... but there was something else there, a much stronger emotion that overshadowed all else: anger.
This woman had harmed his students - no, his family, because they practically were his family away from home - for the last time! "You..." he snarled, his eyes flashing dangerously. If looks could kill, she would be six feet under by now. But he wasn't going to waste more words on her; he preferred to let his wand do the talking... or he would've if Hawthorne wasn't already taking care of it. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the other half of the despicable duo making a break for it. He wanted to go after him, to chase him down like the animal he was, but something stopped him in his tracks.
Gaston was faced with an impossible choice: try to apprehend Duncan or help Laurel and Kalen, who he saw was gasping for air. There was only one thing to do.. Frantically hoping that someone else would arrive in time to catch Duncan, he aimed a spell to make the ropes around Kalen, then Laurel, disappear. "Are you alright?" he asked, rushing toward them. Then a terrible thought occurred to him. What if they'd suffered worse that being tied up? "Did they do anything else to you?"

Honestly this was all so strange. It made her scared. This was why she liked going to Hogsmeade. It was a magical village, that meant they didn't have to hide here. It was something that was making it worse here. They couldn't do magic, even if they were old enough, and there were so many muggles around. Part of the sixth year was wishing she'd stayed at school. So much for a lovely weekend trip. She was glad she was here though. She was among the only students that weren't possessed, and that could actually do something. So it was probably a good thing she was here.
Hattie sighed in relief as Viv moved, even though she didn't even say anything. But she was moving, and that was something. She slowly pulled her towards the professors. But just as she was doing so, suddenly they were all tied up. "Oh..." Maybe she shouldn't go there. She stopped dead, still holding onto Viv's arm. She wasn't letting her go anywhere.
And now headmistress Hawthorne was here, and things seemed to be going on. So at least, was it going to be over soon? Please. With more
Professors here, that had to mean they'd get control over the situation.

The day did seem promising, but it wasn't exactly the kind of weekend he expected. It started off great by looking at his map, tracing the route he'd take to see historical sites. He even got the attention of one of his schoolmates, Diandra, who wanted to join him on his bicycle adventure. Jace turned to the old muggle to ask another question when all of a sudden, a muggle bus crashed into the thick of pedestrian muggles and wizarding folks alike. The next thing he knew was that his schoolmates started to get...weird, chanting the words that were written on their school's walls.
The seventh year could feel his face go pale. They were in the middle of a crisis that they'd all have to answer to higher authorities, sooner or later. Jace's eyes went wide as saucers when not only one but several of his schoolmates started to draw out their wands. One of his professors was now on the ground, Matt deploying an incarcerous spell on a figure only to catch the old man from a while ago...and he was a muggle, nonetheless. The Ravenclaw could not help but mutter Japanese words that'd make his maternal grandparents turn into rage. Some of his schoolmates didn't seem to be affected with...whatever it was in the air, and he'd momentarily watched them shepherd the cursed ones towards Professors Kennedy and Vance.
The presence of the Headmistress should've made him feel better, but that didn't help at all when she too, drew out her wand and fired spells towards the same figure that Matt earlier wanted to capture. It dawned on him who it was, and was quick to scan the rest of the crowd. If the American professor was present, Jace had the gut feeling that her other half was in their midst too. It was easy to spot him, considering the innocent bystanders have been pushed around like it was no one's business. The Ravenclaw zig-zagged through the crowd when he spotted the fleeing figure of the male American professor. Apparently, he was most interesting above everything else that was happening at the moment. Why were they here? Why'd he left his sister behind? Why was he acting suspiciously? Were they behind the chanting? The vandals around school?
The Ravenclaw kept his stealth, using his Kendo training of controlled breath, focus, and an open mind. He was well aware that the man was armed, but so was he. Jace may not be able to capture him alright, but his whereabouts might be of help.

Whilst everyone had been chit chattering and shouting and looking at a bus (that was FUN TO WATCH!!!!!), Beau had been stealing free samples of ice cream from under their noses. And now he was sat in the doorway of the ice cream shop, his own tray of samples on his lap as he tucked in. His favourite so far had been the mint one. His breath was going to be GREAT after six of those samples. Yummmmmmmmmy.
Where was Emma to enjoy this..?
Where was Professor Myers?! Didn't he have something to do with the dramatics of the students? You know...a teaser for a play or something?
THAT was what this was. DUH.
............ WOAH even the Headmistress was in on it?!!?!????!!!!
The spell was inaudible and silent; in her head. A red ribbon like substance slowly from the end of her wand. It took the shape of the wind as it headed straight for Kalen like a snake. The red substance wrapped itself around Kalen, covering his mouth and tying at the back of his head. The substance then dissipated, like smoke. "There. That should shut him up - " And for good measure, Melanie flicked her wand almost lazily over her shoulder at the two professors [Kalen and Laurel] and incarcerous'd them together, the roped spitting out from her wand rapidly as she suddenly ran and pulled Duncan roughly behind her.
...and the worst happened. A panicked no-maj knocked Melanie's wand out of her hand on accident. "NO - " but it was far across the way. "Duncan, go - GO -" she bellowed at her twin brother as she tried to channel her windless magic, but it just wasn't going to happen. She fumbled through the crowd to grab it, quickly, before Regina, or worse, the Ministry could arrive.

Laurel stood in the street waiting for the unpossesed students to come over with their possessed counterparts when her eyes landed on the Williams twins; Melanie and Duncan. How foolish of her to not realize that those two had been behind this all along. They were the reason that Kay was standing there motionless and cold and not hearing or reacting to any word that Laurel had said to her and was making the students chant cult slogans.
Laurel looked over at Kalen as he responded to her question. Shaking her head she protested "Kalen, no, let's wait a bit on that. I'm not doing any side-along apparation right now. We should be sticking together until backup arrives from the castle. Safety in numbers you know? Besides I'm not sure that the kids are fit for side-along apparation just yet." Especially not those that were currently possessed....And what were they going to do about Kay?
Next minute Kalen was gasping for air and Laurel was about to raise her wand to counter whatever spell that was making her colleague choke when ropes shot around them both tying them together like leeches and Kalen fell over causing her to fall with and on top of him. "Sorry Kalen! So sorry, are you all right?" Laurel hastily asked. She had no way to stand up or move so she hoped that backup was coming quickly or she might be the reason why her colleague lost his breath and worst case his consciousness.
SPOILER!!: Gaston

At last backup from the castle arrived in the form of Regina and Gaston. Regina set her attention on Melanie and next minute Laurel's vision was blurred by Gaston rushing over to her and Kalen. As she felt the ropes loosen around her body Laurel gave a relieved sigh as she scrambled to get up on her feet. In response to Gaston's question Laurel replied "I'm fine Gaston. I have no other injuries, but Kalen I think was hit with some kind of spell, since he can't breathe properly. He needs your help!"
Turning away from Gaston and Kalen to survey the situation with the kids Laurel's eyes landed on her best friend again. She needed to get through to Kay before they started to make portkeys to send the kiddos back to school. Walking towards Kay with her wand out Laurel cast "Incendio!" as she directed her wand towards the bag at Kay's feet watching how fire erupted there she called out pleading, hoping to finally get through to her bestie. "Kay, snap out of it! Kay for me! Stop doing this!"

"Yes, Chloe and I are cousins. Are you two friends..." What the actual WHAT was Faith doing? This was a MUGGLE town, and as far as Katy knew, there were no plans to perform any mass obliviations today. "What are you doing? Put that away." She swatted at the girl's hand unsuccessfully. And the words? This was crazy. "Faith! You're going to... STOP THAT."
All around them, wands were coming out and students were chanting. Chanting? With wands out? Katy was relieved at the appearance of Professor Kennedy, who was calm in the face of... whatever this is. She latched on to Faith's arm and pushed her wand down while trying to pull her toward the professor. "Just... come... with... me, Secret Ninja."
Ahh, see, if Faith was herself, she would use this opportunity to launch into a lengthy and detailed explanation of why she was friends with Chloe and how cool Chloe was for a Ravenclaw. No, actually, Chloe was cool even when you don't consider her Ravenclawness. Quality friend material.
She wasn't quite herself, so that was not what happened. Instead, she turned her wand on Katy, in a manner that looked like Faith would try to hex her. She was trying to fight it, truly, but she was a fourth year with not much experience fighting dark magic firsthand. Her wand arm resisted, and Faith's body really didn't want to go with the older girl, but there she was. Being dragged.
It was awful, her mind being present but her body unwilling to obey. Her vocal chords weren't being very compliant either, chanting the slogans over and over and over again.
"Expose the inequality. End the struggle. Expose the inequality. End the struggle. End the struggle. Expose the inequality."

Kay's face remained creepily expressionless though she did know that the students who had been possessed earlier were taking up the chant as were the newly possessed. The chaos all around! It was beautiful! Finally, everyone would agree with the purpose being fought for. Laurel and Kalen definitely deserved what they got if they were just going to be nuisances.
For a wonderful moment, everything was going according to plan then things started happening. Fellow professors, the Headmistress. Kay would have to defend the cause. She would have to fight them if necessary. Before she could so Melanie was being rounded up and Laurel was shouting at her.
A hard, piercing stare went the Divination Professor's way. Unfortunately, the look didn't last long as Kay would have liked for flames were suddenly erupting on her bag. She gave a startled cry, the first emotions she had shown since the powder had taken its effects. Frantically, the woman tried to put out the flames with her hands by slapping them against the bag before she gave up, wrenching it from her shoulders instead and flinging it to the ground.
Another unfortunate thing? The powder's effects were not completely worn off as yet.
Your friendly Professor was still not herself. "LEAVE MELANIE ALONE," she took to shouting instead. Disappointment and horror that the plan was being foiled was sinking in. Without thinking twice, she shot a Stunning spell to Regina and any others trying to harm Melanie.

Everything was literally happening all at once and Skylar was just standing there, with a whirlwind of thoughts running through her head. There was Ace who was clearly ... not himself... but not possessed either ... and Vi and ... Hattie was tugging her wifey away and towards the professors ...
But all the sixth year kept thinking was them. The Williams Twins. And found herself squinting at them, wishing she could do something other than stand there, paralyzed. Yes, she heard Vance and Kennedy telling her to round up the possessed, but then more things happened, like the male one running away, the female was disarmed ... Hawthorne and Marchand appeared, likely from Kennedy's patronus... before he got tied up with Vance. And she was mentally cursing herself for just standing there, unmoving.
What she really wanted though was to summon her broom. Not even caring about exposing themselves, because well, they were already exposed. But because while she was a fast runner, generally speaking, she was even faster when it came to her Bluebottle C. But Dufftown was far away and while apparation and patronus charms were relatively quick, she was doubtful that summoning a broom would be so quick.
So despite the adults and fellow students making random noise, the sixteen year old did the only thing she could think to do, which was to start sprinting. As fast as her blessedly long legs would carry her, hoping Duncan Williams would not choose to do the unthinkable aka apparate away, as she non-verbally, shot a Stupefy and Petrificus Totalus spells at the Ilvermorny professor.

If only Vivian was in the right mind and had the proper senses to bask in the situation at hand, she would conclude that this entire weekend field trip was a disaster.
Unfortunately, she was still chanting her way towards wherever Hattie was bringing her. She knew it was Hattie, for sure, but she just couldn't stop talking. There was an internal scream building up inside her, but she also could not find the breath and will to let it out. Her mind felt all fuzzy and useless. Despite having no control over her senses, she knew she heard a crack but wasn't entirely sure if that made things worse. Someone apparating in front of a large group of muggles?
What an entrance from their headmistress, whom Vivian recognised but couldn't acknowledge. It made no difference to her facial expressions. The blond was still staring blankly ahead. When Hattie halted, Vivian stopped as well, like a tiny pup following its master's actions.
But all of a sudden, with things happening all around and that bag Professor Stewart held erupted into flames, though Vivian wasn't aware, the prefect finally felt herself coming to her senses. As if she was removed from some kind of trance, she blinked a couple of times before she was able to bite her words back. That was when her hands started shaking.
And now she was beside Hattie, not Sky or Kye anymore. However that didn't matter, because what caught her eye that most was the number of professors present. How come the headmistress was here already? "When did they arrive?" Vivian asked Hattie, still visibly confused.

But that didn't matter right now, not when the patronus in the form of an alligator was speaking to him. His heartbeat thudded loudly in his ears and his eyes widened as he tried to process exactly what it was that Regina was telling him. Swearing under his breath in German, the man got up from his seat and bolted out of his office as quickly as he could, taking his wand out on the way.
It didn't take long for him to arrive on the crowded street of Dufftown, where a strange sight met his eyes. It was hard to miss that chanting, not when so many students had been chanting and sounding creepy at the same time, and it was hard to miss the sight of one of the Williams siblings running away while the other one was shouting something and looking around frantically. There were a lot of people being tied up in the process, but thankfully Gaston was dealing with Kalen and Laurel. And then there was Kaysha, sweet Kaysha, shouting about leaving Melanie alone and attacking Regina and the rest of the staff.
............ Uh.
His priority? The students.
Green eyes took in the sight of the students that were gathered there, trying to see if anyone was seriously injured and needed tending to immediately but the amount of people gathered there made this process much more difficult than it needed to be. So, this called for another plan. He eyed the ground instead and started picking up various items: empty cans, discarded cups, a paper hat that someone had left behind, anything. They were generally litter but given the emergency of the situation, none of this mattered. Each object received the same treatment: they each had a spell cast on them that caused them to tremble as they glowed bright blue before returning to their normal colour.
When it seemed like there were enough objects on the ground in front of him, Hirsch then raised his wand up to his throat and cast a different spell, one that ensured he'd be heard through all of.... this. "Alright students, listen up!" He clapped his hands once, as he so often did during his lessons. The only difference was that his voice sounded much louder and he sounded, and looked, a lot more serious than he usually did. "I'm going to need everyone to get back to Hogwarts, and specifically the Hospital Wing, as quickly as possible. To do that, you need to grab onto one of these items in front of me here," At this, he gestured at the items on the ground. "It'll take you straight back to the castle. Everyone who hasn't been possessed is to grab hold of someone who has been possessed and take them with you, whether you like them or not. Older students, look after the younger students, please, and take one with you if you need to." Because while he was going with them, he was only one person, after all. "If you're not comfortable using a Portkey or if you feel unsafe or if you miss one, you're to come with me using Side-Along Apparition." Which wasn't that much better but, well, he was there.
Breathe.
"Whenever you're ready, grab a Portkey, grab a friend and go back to the castle." This trip was over.
OOC: There are a number of items on the ground that have been turned into Portkeys so feel free to pick whichever Portkey tickles your fancy. And feel free to make up other objects as well - they're pretty much rubbish items tbh. The Portkeys will take the students straight to the doors of the Hospital Wing. Everyone is to go into the Hospital Wing and get a checkup, at least. If you want to declone via Portkey, you can do so. If you want to hang onto Hirsch, you can do so and I'll declone us later on.
She continued to stand, chanting in the middle of the street, with the chaos occurring all around her. Her wand was out and ready, although she knew no reason for it to be out. Suddenly, she was aware. She looked around her, desperately trying to take in the surroundings and figure out where in the world she was. Glancing down, she saw her wand was out and she quickly pocketed it, hoping she hadn't cast any spells or caused any harm.
Then she heard the voices all around her. Professors shouting directions, students hurrying towards port keys and grabbing other students in an effort to get them all back to the castle. It was all a bit too much for her. She knew she needed to move, but her feet wouldn’t cooperate. She was scared. Tears started streaming down her face and just as she was about to fully panic, the voice of Professor Hirsch broke through.
A feeling of calm and security swept through her body and she was finally able to control her jelly like legs. Her movement towards the professor was slow, but steady. Her eyes locked on him in an attempt to keep all of the crazy going on around her out. “Sir, please wait for me!” She shouted. Before she knew it, she was standing next to Professor Hirsch, her hand outstretched to grab on should he look to be moving away from her. “Please, take me back with you. I don’t want to use a portkey.”

Kalen was still gasping for air, whatever spell had hit him felt like someone was wrapping their hand around his throat, and now being tied up? The professor was starting to feel very frightened for the second time in his life..
The first had been when his wife died.. images started to flash in his mind, of friends, and people who were important to him. Tristan and Arabella seemed to stick in his mind for the longest amount of time.
He barely paid attention to Laurel on top on him, he was using every bit of his concentration to force whatever oxygen he could into his lungs..
And then suddenly, he was free, the ropes were gone and he looked up to see Gaston above them. He shook his head as he was asked if he was all right.. words weren’t coming out so well.
“Spell.. ” He managed to choke out as he lay on the ground and then pointed his wand at his throat, and thought something.. the pressure on his throat eased a bit.. but not a lot., He wasn’t a match for a powerful dark curse.. but he needed to get up..
“Later.. kids.. ” He slowly choked out as he started to push himself to his feet. The world was still hazy, and very time he took a breath it was loud and awful and wheezing, but at least some air was getting through..

Gaston was relieved to know that Laurel was okay, but that relief quickly turned to horror upon hearing what happened to Kalen. He nodded in reply, and, wasting no more time, turned his attention back to his other colleague. Pointing his wand, he cast a nonverbal Anapneo at Kalen. Had that worked? His mind was already forming a plan B in case it hadn't.
He was so focused on the situation that he didn't even flinch when Laurel set the bag on fire; apparently his irrational fear of fire had taken a backseat to his anger. He blinked in confusion, wondering whether the fire was meant to accomplish something or if she was just angry. If it was the latter, he could certainly sympathize!
Wait, what? Laurel's next words got a blank state from him. Kaysha was doing this?! He shook his head. No, not of her own accord, he knew that. The Americans had to be controlling her somehow. He wanted to help Laurel try to reach her, but before he could speak, he noticed her shooting a spell at Hawthorne. No, he was not allowing that! He instinctively moved between Kaysha and the headmistress, casting a shield charm to try and deflect it.
Then... The kids were starting to return to normal. And Skylar Diggory was chasing after the other twin. And Hirsch was here making portkey and shouting instructions. And poor little Emmalyn was crying. And he still had no idea if Kalen was going to be okay. Merlin, everything was happening too fast, and he couldn't be everywhere at once! Okay, calm down... He needed to think. He was sure Hirsch could help Emmalyn. He glanced after Skylar; he was giving her all of two seconds to follow Hirsch's directions and come back on her own or he was going after her!
His grip on his wand tightened as his eyes darted from the Slytherin to Kaysha then Kalen, poised to react to any or all of them at a moment's notice.

And Sky has sprinted off after the other American. “Sky!” she called out after her friend who seemed determined to chase him to the very end. Before she could run after her friend, Professor Marchand was already headed in her direction. Biting her lip momentarily, she stood, watching as Marchand raced after Skylar. What if Williams got away? What then? Surely this would all happen again. Besides some of the Professors were not in the best of shape.... Kennedy and Vance had had some trouble. Fortunately Hawthorne, Marchand, and Hirsch had arrived in the Knick of time. Her blue eyes wandered to Professor Stewart who did not seem like herself whatsoever. What had they done to her? And how long had this plan been in the works? To possess the entire student body of Hogwarts? To create some army perhaps?
She heeded Hirsch’s words while letting these thoughts continue to stir in her mind. Nearby she spotted Flynn, her fellow Prefect, and headed over to him. They weren’t exactly close or anything but after the whole Honeydukes experience.... “Flynn... Hey... We’re going to get you back to the castle.” And then she saw Cassie too. “How about a Honeydukes reunion?” she smirked as she headed towards Cassie now too.
“Cassie, come with us. We’re going back to the castle...”
Alright. Honeydukes reunion it is. Funny how the world worked.

He'd been really quiet, focusing all of his energy to keep up with Duncan Williams. While doing this, he'd considered using the Taboo curse on the man in case he decided to apparate once he reached a nice, secluded clearing. Jace too became hypersensitive to the wand that was in his shirt sleeve, as if it could read his mind.
So far, so good. His stealth was working, as he weaved through the crowd-- blending in well with the muggles. Everything went smoothly until flashes of light came flying out of nowhere. "No....nonono!" Jace did his best to keep his focus on the fleeing figure but decided to let go of the chase. The rogue spells were a clear indication that the man was being followed. The Ravenclaw wouldn't be surprised if Mr Williams would disapparate right there and then. It took only a few seconds of distraction to completely lose track of the American professor.
Letting out an angry sigh, Jace tracked back and pursued the source of the spells. It wasn't a hard task to do actually when you're in the middle of a muggle crowd while someone else is in the middle holding up a stick.
Skylar.
The Ravenclaw emerged from the crowd, quickly stepping to the Slytherin's side and forcing her wand arm down, "It's no use, Captain. He will now know he's being pursued." he said in a low tone, sparing a glance over his shoulder to where he came from. "We should go," he said, turning back to the younger student, looking up towards the street where Hirsch made a very loud announcement.
Hogwarts, Portkeys, Side-Along Apparition. So much for the Statute of Secrecy.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Still possessed, Dorian did not fight Olivia as she ushered him and Stasya to safety. It did not matter where he was as long as he got the message out. As long as the truth was known. Everyone had to know.
He completely missed the chaos around him. He missed the suspects he had briefly layed eyes on earlier. He missed spells being thrown, professors and Headmistress apparating. He saw everything but it did not register inside his brain.
And then, out of nowhere, his vision started to get more focused, his hearing turned better and he actually saw what was happening around and then realization dawned on him.
At first he was blinking, then slowly a tear rolled down his cheek and next thing he knew he was sobbing. He sobbed because he did not understood what he had went through. Why he couldn't take control of his own mind. One did not have to be a Ravenclaw to think that that was absolutely terrifying.
He wanted to go home, he wanted his father he did not want to go to the school.

Gaston wanted to play hero, did he? How did he like it if she kept throwing Stunning charms one after other at him? This is what she did even though she was vaguely aware of Hirsch giving instructions for the students to take Portkeys to go back to the Castle.
It only made her more frustrated that such an epic plan had backfired.
Too bad for the poor Frenchman. Kay was taking that frustration out on him. Her stunners only became more well placed and stronger. Surely one was bound to get through to him?

Honestly, Harriet just wanted to get back to the castle now and hide away in her dorm. This was not going to look good. The statue had been broken. There were muggles around. Her fellow peers were chanting. And she had no idea what really was going on, or who had done it. But more professors were here now, and more were coming. They'd get control of the situation right? That had to. They had to made it better, and so that they could get back to the castle. Hopefully they didn't have to get back onto a bus, because that would just be dreadful. She honestly, could not wait until she got to take her apparition test in a few weeks. It would be so much better when she could apparate.
Everything was happening so fast. And she was just glad she didn't really have to do anything. But the chanting was stopping now, and she noticed Vivi was coming round. She couldn't remember anything? Oh no. That wasn't good. "Just now...." The blonde murmured, not letting of of her friend, but slipping her hand down, so they were just holding hands instead. She didn't know what was going on, and she didn't want anyone getting hurt.
"We should go...." The blonde murmured to her friend, glancing around. Vivi was in no position to be helping anyone. but Hattie could. So she should. "Vivi.... go get one of the portkeys and get back to the castle" The blonde instructed her friend, pushing her towards the portkeys that Hirsch had made. "I'll be there soon. I'm just gonna help some of the younger students...."
But she didn't get that far, since she turned around and saw that Professor Stewart was shooting stunner at another Professor. Oh no. Could she stun a professor? Probably not.... but oh no. That wasn't good.
