Miranda made her way to the office of her Charms teacher, Professor Marchand... She walked up to the closed door and knocked on it firmly before turning to take a seat on the couch that adorned the waiting area.

Gaston was holed up in his office, working on the musical score for Paul's play. He was in the middle of an exciting piece for the worm encounter when he heard a knock at the door. His head jerked up from the parchment. He'd been so absorbed in his work that it took him a moment to register what the sound was!

He gently laid down his quill and got up to answer the door. He smiled upon seeing who was on the other side. "Hello, Miss Blaze," he said, opening the door a bit wider. "Please come in, have a seat."

There were about ten different reasons rolling around in the Hufflepuff's head as to why Professor Marchand had summoned the third year to his office. None of them were particularly favorable and Derf was not terribly inclined to think on the optimistic side when it came to Hogwarts professors these days. He was TRYING because mum got all cross with him whenever he brought it up, her being a former professor and Gryffindor Head of House and Deputy Headmistress and all, but this wasn't the same Hogwarts she had been at and even she had acknowledged that fact once.

So it was that the blonde was dragging his feet to the door and knocked haphazardly upon it thrice while actively not making eye contact with the coffee bar because NOPE.

He really REALLY wished he had Scamander in his pocket still...but that was how the cookie crumbled when you polyjuiced into one Levi Kenning without consent and said Levi Kenning wrote your dad about it and dad punished you.

Sigh.

On the other side of the door, Gaston sat at his desk, staring sadly at the objects in his hand. A battered Albus Dumbledore card from a chocolate frog and a little paper wolf that once sang a message... pointless trinkets to some, but he held on to them all this time as a reminder of someone who showed him kindness. Never in a million years would he have imagined that the same boy who gave him these would lay a hand on him!

Sudden knocking jerked him out of his thoughts, and he rose with a heavy sigh. That must be him now... "Thank you for being so prompt, Mr. Ashbury-Hawthorne," he said in a rigidly polite tone as he opened the door. Normally he would offer visitors to his office a smile upon arrival, but today he didn't even try to hide his sadness. "Please come in, sit down."
