Harriet wasn't one to usually be in the library. Studying wasn't her forte, and she didn't come much. But she really wanted to get into her studies this year. It was her OWL year, and she really needed to do well. So she was heading to the library to find a few books. She knew she didn't really need her OWLS, since she didn't want to do anything magical in the future, but she knew she needed them to graduate Hogwarts. She also figured that they would be pretty useful if she ever didn't want to be an art therapist.

She hummed to herself quietly as she wandered around the bookshelves, finding the books she needed. She was going to start with charms, and make notes for each subject. She sighed, shaking her head. Trust the book she need to be on the top shelf. "Well. Great time to practice my charms" And she then began to try to charm the book down to where she could grab it.

Returning books to the library was always a bitter sweet type of deal. On the one hand it meant the book you'd grown to love and learn so much from would be going back so someone else could love and learn, but on the other hand, it meant getting MORE books.

After plopping them down at the front desk and signing in all the right places, Jessa moved about the library once more, blue eyes scanning the titles as she went. One of the hardest parts had to be picking the next book. They were all tempting and would surely leave her better than when she'd first found them but there were only so many hours in a day. She had experiments to keep up with, classes, friends, eating--homework, the huge time sucker that it was.

Turning into the next aisle, she found Hattie already mid-levitating.

"I usually make myself featherlight then climb to get what I need." She offered, coming to a stop by her side. "That way, I can see the other books up there too, in case I decide I want 'em along with the original book."

Her gaze rose to the book. "Is this leisure or OWL study?" A serious question. Jessa Cambridge was the type to read a Charms text for leisure.

Harriet looked up as she heard a voice. She had really hoped not to be disturbed. She wasn't the best at not getting distracted, and so knew that her spell was likely to not work if someone was walking to her. Luckily she'd only levitated a little, so she was able to put the book back before it clattered down onto one of their heads. That would not be good. She didn't need to be causing any deaths by dropping books onto her friends heads. That would be a disaster.

She turned to the girl and smiled. She'd seen Jessa around a few times, but hadn't really talked to her that much. "That is such a good idea" She murmured with a smile. She was annoyed that she hadn't thought of that herself, but she was glad the girl had come because at least she had some new way of getting the books down from the shelf.

"It is" She nodded with a smile. "I want to start early...so I'm not stressed when the exams come around"

"It's pretty neat, yeah, and a fun way to get books every time I come to the library." Just don't ask her if it was allowed. She didn't actually know about that bit and had never bothered to ask. Sometimes, it was simply better to seek forgiveness than to ask permission.

"You could give it a shot right now, since you've already gone and put the book back." Why? The young girl didn't know. Surely Hattie still wanted it. She'd just said she needed it for her studying. Loss of concentration? A realization it wasn't the one she needed. Whatever the case, the older girl now had a chance to try again.

"Most people I know are already studying for the big exams. I'm not sure I'll be that responsible next year." Ironic coming from a Ravenclaw, yes, but while Jessa liked acquiring knowledge, it didn't translate well into her actual school work. Most of her time was spent on experiments for which she was ridiculously interested and thus invested in, not things her Professors said she had to know. [b]"Are you particularly worried about any of them?

The normal order that Professor Kennedy has brought to the Library, seems to have been disturbed. As you walk through the quiet shelves you’ll see complete and utter havoc has been wreaked on the once peaceful library.

Books have been torn off the shelves seemingly in a hurry and left in a mess on the floor. Piles of them now dot the carpet, laying open, haphazardly strewn as though someone had quickly glanced through them and decided they didn’t want that one and moved on.

It looked like a tornado had run through the bookshelves, and not only the bookshelves, the maze seems to be in disarray as well, the chairs knocked over and the study tables pushed to the side. But the culprit who caused all of this damage doesn’t seem to be anywhere in sight.

And was the door to the Restricted section...

Open?

O.W.L.s meant stress and O.W.L.s ALSO meant spending ridiculous amounts of time in the library. MORE time than anyone should ever HAVE to spend in a library as far as one Junia L. Botros was concerned. Still, the fifth year made her way to her usual table in hopes of getting just a little bit extra reading time in when...

... ... ...

WHAT?

The brunette blinked and then looked to her left, and then looked to her right, and then looked down at her feet. There was a mess. She was the only one in the area of said mess. Was she going to be BLAMED for this?

... ... ...

Slowly backing away now? Yes.

Flying With Aethonans had been read twice, and Felicity thought it was time she took out another book that might help her better care for her foal. And, she could pick up some books to help her with her Herbology OWL preparation whilst she was in the library, which was obviously going to be a much less exciting read.

However, when she rounded the corner to the shelves, the sight in front of her made her stop in her tracks. "What...." she mouthed to no one in particular, bending down to pick up one of the books that lay strewn around.

Who would do something like this?

"Junia!" she said, spotting her dormmate in front of her. OWL prep was serious business for the She-Snake-Squad, after all. "Did you see what happened?"

Skylar Diggory practically had a second bed in the library since fourth year, when she initiated her studies for her major OWL examinations. So it wasn't really a wonder to find the fifth year automatically walking towards her favorite study chair.

She'd walked this path a thousand times before, which meant, she could do it with her eyes closed. If it was clear. Something with which it was not, as the fifth year found herself tripping over one of the disarrayed objects, bracing herself on the bookshelf for support.

Huh? What? A quick glance around - and a sprained ankle - was all it took for Skylar to realize it someone was looking for something?

"Junia? Liss?" Sky blinked seeing her dormmates in the distance (of course they'd both be here! It was on the schedule!). And wait, was the restricted section open?

She should go. She should definitely go.

No, but WHAT was that?" That scream.

She took Felicity's sleeve and tugged gently towards the sound, motioning for Sky to follow.

She'd been done her next pile of books and was in search of new ones. Why this section? Because this section tended to have the more challenging spells she could take a ...crack....at....

What in Merlin's soggy socks happened here????

Jessa looked first to the shelves, then the floor then the three snakettes who were either as shocked as she was or....working out how to make sure they didn't get caught for this. but...but WHY would anyone wanna do this to a bunch of books?? WHO HAD IT OUT FOR KNOWLEDGE SO BAD THEY'D TRASH THE FLIPPING LIBRARY????

Without really thinking about it, the Ravenclaw began scooping the books up from the floor, still occasionally glancing up at the three until she saw it; an open restricted section and it looked like Junia was already heading there.

If the older students went...that meant this was allowed, yeah? Could they chalk it up to curiosity? Could she have a book or two from there while they tried to figure this out??

Only one way to find out. Jessa got right behind the Slytherins, ready to find out what was going on.

Kalen had been up in the Astronomy Tower, he had found that during this time of the afternoon when most of the kids were in classes, that the library was quiet and mostly empty, affording him some time to work on lesson plans in his office in the Tower and things like that.

He checked his watch as he hurried down to the library, he was running a little bit late, but then he had been the one to give two rolls of parchment on solar flares. He had hoped that it would keep the kids busy, instead he was busy grading them.

Perhaps he should think before he assigned extra homework next time, yeah?

He walked into the library, and looked at his desk for a moment, picking up some cards of books that were due to be returned soon, he needed to remind the students that had them, about the impending return date..

His green eyes were glancing through the little note cards when his foot hit something, bringing the Librarian to a halt.. What had he tripped over? There shouldn’t be..

He finally glanced upwards to see..

His eyes widened in horror and the stack of cards fell from his hand as he took in the utter chaos that was his library. Books laying this way and that, Book maze utterly ruined, chairs upturned, tables a wreck. For a moment Kalen’s vision went fuzzy and he suddenly felt cold.

He swayed on his feet for a moment, before finally taking in a lung full of air. He ran a hand through his hair and slowly spun around, surveying the damage done. This would take weeks to clean.. and the maze..

Merlin.

For a moment panic started to settle in and he felt his insides start to flutter with anxiety. What.. how.. Where was he even going to start? The panic started to grow as he felt his chest tighten up on him.

Twinkle Twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are.. The Librarian sang the song in his head, trying to calm down and focus on something other than what was before him. That little trick had been taught to him when he was younger and so far it had worked.

His slow circle stopped when he saw that the restricted section was open and that children were inside. He forced his feet to move that way and kept repeating the song in his head, trying to calm himself down enough to talk to who was inside the restricted section.
