| | Hufflepuff Table For those who belong in Hufflepuff House, in the middle of the Great Hall is where your table awaits. Gold banners containing an embroidered black badger float above the polished table in honour of the loyal Helga Hufflepuff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. Mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages are at your fingertips.
Whether you arrived for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on time or late, feel free to dig in as the headmistress has no speech to give. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables while sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves. Just remember to display proper eating etiquette and don't get any funny ideas. Food is to be eaten, not thrown across the dining room. Wasting food will come at a price that you will not like to pay.

| Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Daisy slumped down at her house table, feeling very fatigued for some reason. Usually, the winter weather didn't cause any bad effects for her but she had been quite run down for some reason. Maybe some food would suffice. Daisy served herself a small bowl of steaming pumpkin soup. However, she was struggling to eat something that she would normally wolf down. "What is wrong with me?!" Daisy screamed in her mind.

Alfred was sad, but what was new this year? Pretending to act like the Baron all term had done nothing but make him feel more miserable. He drifted into the Great Hall with his head down, looking at his feet as he floated.
Food could not even help him. He was dead!
The Hufflepuff Table had a few students seated, but there was one that caught his attention. "My dear...are you feeling all right? You look...you look tired. Did you get enough sleep last night? Do you have a cold?" he fretted a little, forgetting his own plight for a minute. But there was a Hufflepuff in trouble!

"I have been feeling out of sorts for some reason lately. It started off when I saw my dormitory after it had been ransacked. I haven't been sleeping well for some reason. I just can't put my finger on it." |

| Daisy & Fat Friar! astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Entering the Great Hall after spending a bit of time in the library looking up books on sleepwalking - for Natalie reasons - Derf had happened upon a book among the shelves titled accurately titled Sleepwalking Land that he now had cracked open and was reading the first page while making his way over to the Hufflepuff table. Only...it became pretty clear as he read on that this was NOT the sort of book on sleepwalking he had anticipated leaving the library with...but he found the prose engaging nonetheless so....he felt inclined to continue reading.
Or he DID...until he walked riiiiiiiiight through the Far Friar just as Daisy began answering the ghost's question. Giving a bit of a surprised YELP, Derf batted away at his face as if there had been a large spider web clinging to his boyish features. "SORRY!" he said, to the house ghost, of course. His attention then went back to Daisy and her...sleeping issue as well. "Have you been sleep walking too?" he asked with a small frown while sliding into the seat next to her.

Daisy gave a slight start when Derf yelped. She was easily rattled these days. At Derf's question, Daisy gave a small shrug. "I think I sleepwalked once but I could have been dreaming. I am doing that a lot lately."
She pointed at the book that was in Derf's possession. "What's the book for?" |

He knew about the dormitories and hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary around the kitchen area when that happened. He'd been wondering if it was someone playing a prank or something far more sinister, and he was hoping the former. "Well, perhaps it bothered you in your subconscious!" He pressed his hand to his heart. "So you're tired lately, then?" If she wasn't sleeping well, she was probably very fatigued. It could ruin someone's entire week!
There was no way to describe the way it felt to have someone walk right through you, as a ghost, but it just happened, and Alfred shivered a little, sure that he might make Derfael shiver as well. Because ghosts were cold! "It's quite all right, Derfael! I don't mind being walked through. I only hope I didn't freeze you too much!"

Ruffling his hair, the Hufflepuff bowed his head once more in apology to the house ghost. "I'm okay," he assured him. He, er, kinda liked the sensation if he was being entirely honest. It was like NOTHING else you could experience, you know? It wasn't a cold like running outside in the middle of winter wearing very few layers or doing a polar bear swim...it was unique. Not that Derf would do it on purpose because that was just rude.
But then the Fat Friar went and said THAT. "You DON'T?" he asked, eyes wide and EAGER. "Because...er...well..don't tell Myrtle or the Bloody Baron because I reckon they wouldn't like it much...but I kinda really like the feeling...it's special. Only something you ghosts can elicit."
But then his attention went right back to Daisy.
Oh. Well...that was kinda a relief.
"You mean you woke up in your bed and you were just dreaming you were walking and stuff?" he asked, setting his book on his lap and now wishing he had also brought his Divination one with him. You know...for dream interpretation and such. "This?" Obviously, Derfael. "I was looking for books about sleepwalking...one of my best friends sorta started doing it and I want to make sure she stays safe..." he explained, his cheeks turning a bit pinkish thinking about Natalie. "Cause...you know...particularly with everything going on at Hogwarts right now...walking around in the corridors in the middle of the night like that...it's just not safe...." He set the book on the table. "But...it turns out even though there is sleepwalking in the title...this book isn't about sleepwalking at all."
Still a good read though.

Daisy nodded, wearily. "Maybe it has bothered me. I just don't know what to think or how to function." Quote:

Still a good read though. Daisy sighed and rubbed her eyes. "It seems that fragments of my days are missing. Maybe I need to consult my tarot cards for the answer. To be honest, I don't think that would help." She looked at the book that Derf had set down on the table. "That might help. I mean, it couldn't hurt." |

Derf's brow furrowed further, taking in what the Fat Friar had said as well. "Well...it's not like everyone remembers every moment of EVERY day though," he offered encouragingly to his housemate. "Like...loads of people really have to stop and think to remember what they had for lunch yesterday, you know? If you're not sleeping well...maybe you need to see Healer Reed about a Dreamless Sleep draught or another kind of sleeping draught? Mum used to give them in small dosages to me when I had nightmares that kept me awake."
And he still had a few vials tucked away as he was still plagued by nightmares now and then - although the contents of them was incredibly different than what his 3-year-old self had been haunted by.
But something told him...it was not just simple little details that Daisy wasn't remembering.
He glanced back down at his book. "Nah...this book won't help with sleepwalking. The sleepwalking in the title refers to one of the main protagonists, an amnesic boy in search of his past. It's super interesting...and sad...but really a good book."

She thought about the idea of a Sleeping Draught. Maybe she needed to see Healer Reed about it. Her mind was spinning.
