It's a beautiful and unnaturally warm second fall day in October. There are no rain clouds in sight, the sky is a clear blue and the temperatures are steadily going upwards and the weather people have promised over 15 degrees as you make your way out onto the grounds on this Tuesday morning after breakfast for Divination class in the Barn and Pastures. An unorthodox choice of location one might think for divination readings, but it really isn't since creatures play an essential part in many divination methods, if you think about it!
Stepping into the huge barn a little before 9 am, if you are on time and don't want to upset Professor Vance you're immediately hit straight in the face by the strong smell of various creatures and the sounds high and low that they make. You pass many magical creature stalls and pens on your way to the middle of the barn where Professor Vance is leaning casually against one of the pen doors.
In front of her in a half circle colourful mats and stone tables have been placed out for the students leisure. As the students approach Professor Vance straightens up and smiles invitingly as she gestures to the mats. "Good morning, please take a seat! No more than two to a mat. Class will begin in a few minutes."

Kimi stepped into the barn and wondered why the divination lesson would be held here but he smiled at Professor Vance and said "Good morning Professor Vance" Kimi took a seat on one of the mats and waited for the lesson to begin
Miranda made her way down to the Barn for Divination class this morning.. She had made sure to eat a rather good breakfast with her bestie before leaving the castle...
As she arrived she greeted first their teacher, Professor Vance, " Good morning, Professor... Beautiful day to be having an outdoorsy-like lesson."
And she made her way to say hello to the only other person there, Kimi.. she sorta knew her, but not personally... Though she was always willing to say hello and a kind word to other.. " Hi there... Glad to see I'm not the only one that wanted to get here early.. ", Randa said with a friendly smile.

Kimi looked up and saw Miranda a fellow puff but one he didn't know that well and smiled at her and said "Hi yeah i kind of like to get to class early so i can get a good position to be able to learn properly"
Etta made her way down to the grounds for her next lesson, kind of curious about the unusual choice of location. For Divination? Really? Why the barn? Heh. She was going to find out soon enough anyway. At least, the weather was pretty great. Not sure for how long it'll last though. She definitely wasn't looking forward to winter at all.
She quickly walked down the length of the barn, looking at all the animals on the way. She really felt like petting a few of them but there wasn't time.. maybe during the weekend. Oh, there was professor Vance. The prefect gave her a bright smile, sitting down on of the mats. "Good morning, professor. Hope you're doing well today."

She didn't know if this was better or arguably worse than having class up in the towers. After the big breakfast she'd had, the Ravenclaw was finding it a little difficult to trudge all the way across the grounds just to attend her lesson. Perhaps the stairs might have been better than this long walk. Surely she'd have gotten there by now?
Heading through the stables, Jessa couldn't help but stop at one in particular to show her baby aethonan some love. She would be seeing Dexter later but there was no way she could walk pass the little guy without so much as a little squish and a neck rub.
"Morning Professor." She greeted, taking the mat next to Etta's.
She looked about the place while she waited for the lesson to start, not necessarily trying to figure out what the lesson was but rather...just looking. After such a walk on a full stomach, the Fourth Year wasn't up to much brain work just yet.
She would need a minute.

Kyle kept stopping at stalls from the moment he got into the barn, enjoying looking at each and every one. It was a good thing he'd headed here straight after breakfast, or he would probably be late getting to the actual class with how he was taking his time. He vaguely wished he had Honey here, but there was no mention of whether or not they could bring pets, even given the location. Oh well.
Eventually he did make it to the colorful mats and stone tables. He looked around and finally spotted a blue mat, then went to sit on it. Like his father, he was very fond of the colors blue and silver. Of course, maybe he should have chosen a green mat. Slytherin pride and all. He looked over at one and began debating if he should switch spots. Nah... Blue was good. It's not like he HAD to make green his favorite color, right? His father was Slytherin and still liked the color blue. Well, he would stay, then. Hopefully someone would sit with him as well.

Rhea, if she was being honest, didn't find Divination that enjoyable anymore. She'd only chosen it because it'd sounded like an interesting and easy option. It just wasn't her thing, as she'd discovered last year, and the fact she had to attend the lesson at 9am didn't help matters. She was groggy and grumpy even more than usual.
It was a warm day, but that was the only positive aspect of the morning, and anything uplifting about that warmth was immediately ruined once she reached the barn. The unavoidable smells and noises of the animals were less than pleasant at this time in the morning. If it was any other time, she would have loved the fact that they were surrounded by animals, potentially even working with them. After all, why else would they be out here?
"'Morning," she said and greeted the Professor with a nod before sitting down on one of the unoccupied mats.

DIVINATION! Scarlett's FAVORITE. Although as she was heading down to the creatures pen, she couldn't help but be just a BIT disappointed. After all, her favorite types of divination were the classics - tarot cards, tea leaves, crystal orb gazing. Her father had raised her on them. Creatures were not necessarily a conventional part of divination - although she always tried to keep an open mind when it came to this subject. Maybe she'd really enjoy it!
Then again, she was a Divination snob. So chances were slim.
"Hello Professor," she told her as she sat down on one of the mats close to the front. She wrinkled her nose. Eww. It stunk in here.

Maddie had lots of questions about Divination. For example, could you predict EVERYTHING? Like, did the professor know random things, such as...who was going to chew a piece of bubblegum at six o'clock tonight?! When was the next magical creature going to go to the bathroom, and if it was soon, could she tell the students to get out of the way first?! If she could predict all of these things Maddie wanted to learn how to do that, too! She skipped through the barn and made her way to the professor. "Hello, Professor Vance! Hello to ALLLL of the creatures in the barn!" she said.
Ohh, they were sitting on mats today? Two to a mat? Well, in that case... Maddie whirled around and looked at her options. In the end, she chose to sit by a girl she'd met while waiting in line for candy on the train. Scarlett could predict lots of things...like when the food trolley was going to run out of candy! "Mat partner!" she exclaimed, and then she took a seat right next to the older Hufflepuff girl.

The smell of animals hit his nose first, then the few students picking seats caught his eye. Divination was going to be an interesting course this year, each class he was mildly surprised by the way his head of house taught the class. Learning from the animals today was no doubt the strangest way he had learned thus far. He waved at Professor Vance, "Good morning." He was more chipper than he was at the beginning of his double Potions class.
He picked one of the blue mats toward the side of the area thinking that he would be able to see hear, and just avoid drawing attention. His mother was great at this sort of thing, but she didn't pass it on to him thus far in his life. He was hoping that someone would come be his mat partner, and know what they were doing for the most part.
Amelia Raventhorne - BoG & Emmeline (anyone want to sit with her?)
Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler
Amelia Raventhorne was not fond of creatures and dirty, outdoors places. She preferred classrooms, which were neat and orderly and far more controlled environments. In fact, Amelia was fairly certain that she had never once visited a creature barn of any kind when she attended Hogwarts. Nevertheless, she was here to observe a Divination lesson, and she would not be put off from that important goal by Professor Vance's chosen location. The former Ravenclaw could certainly see how a change in environment or venue could help students learn different forms of Divination, and she was rather interested to see where Professor Vance went with this unusual setting.
Amelia couldn't help but wrinkle her nose as she entered the creature barn where this lesson was to be held; the smells were already getting to her.
Her first order of business was to walk up to Professor Vance and greet her: "Good morning, Professor Vance." The next was to find a seat at the very back of the class and set herself up for the lesson. Amelia sat down on the mat in the back corner and tried not to wince at sitting on the dusty,
dirty floor. Once she was seated comfortably, she withdrew a clipboard, her observation form that the Board had decided to use for these lessons, and a quill that was enchanted to refill itself with ink automatically.
-------------------------
Emmeline was super excited about today's Divination lesson, even though it was really early in the morning. It was being held in the creatures barn, so it was pretty much guaranteed to be awesome, as long as they wouldn't be hurting or scaring any creatures for the lesson. The second year didn't have far to go this morning, either, which was a super nice change from racing to the North Tower; she had already been in the infant creature barn next door since right after breakfast, taking care of Sirius and Sapphire. So Emmeline was all smiles and happiness as she bounced into the adult creature barn and took a seat on one of the mats in the middle, calling out, "Hiiii, Professor Vance," as she went. This was gonna be the best Divination lesson ever, she could feel it. She did frown a little bit as she'd walked past an old lady with a clipboard in the back; what was up with these random old ladies sitting in on their lessons lately?
Skyler was beginning to love Divination, something about it just seemed to click with her. And though it made it her happy there wasn't a lot of wand work involved so far, and she was beginning to worry about that. All of her wand work needed ... well work and all the courses that didn't require much of that were going swimmingly.
But either way she was happy to be in class today. So with a sweet smile she took a seat on an empty mat and looked around to see if anyone would be joining her.
It stunk. Dahlia loved the animals. All the weird and wonderful creatures that inhabited the barn, and she visited as often as she could. But it still - not matter how many times they all pooper scooped - stunk. Which really was just as well, because this lesson was another early one, so at least it kind of woke her up a bit. But she had also barely finished her breakfast before coming down, and the smell was enough to turn a stomach that wasn't strong.
Holding her breathe slightly, she wandered into the barn and took her bag from her shoulder as she eyed up the many mats on the floor. Hmmm. This was going to be interesting. Well, it was Divination, so it was bound to be interesting anyway. In it's own weird way.
"Good morning, Professor!" Dahlia grinned at the woman and headed towards an empty mat a bit further in. Black. Perfect.
Though a barn might seem a curious place to hold a Divination lesson, Kitty had taken enough Ancient Ruin classes in here to know that nearly every subject was more complex than what it first seemed. Divination was definitely more complex than she'd given it credit for in the past. She wondered what interesting aspect of Divination relating to animals they would study today.
Trying not to make it seem like she was holding her nose (animal smells weren't her favorite smells by a long shot), the head girl made her way boldly into the barn and headed to the mats. "Good morning Professor Vance, how are you today?" she said cheerfully (still trying not to breathe in the animal smells too much) as she sat down next to Emmeline.
"Hey Emmeline. I'm sitting you with today," she whispered with a smile to the Gryffindor girl.
Well one of the classes Théo decided to sign up for this year and really he did it because he figured who hard was it to to not fail this class. He knew he was not seer. Sylvie might be but well i really really doubted he was. Maybe he could even nap. He had not been able to previous lessons. It was really the dream and hoped on day he could.
But not today since they were in a smelly barn and yeah this was not a place Théo wanted to nap. Or really sit on a matt. He wanted a chair or something.
Nothing he could do about that.
Théo just found a empty mat and flopped down on it.

The barn was hardly among Ronan's favorite places for a lesson, but at least he didn't have to walk all the back to the towers after having to come all that same way down for breakfast. That was never a good time and made wish that the school was in more of a ranch-style building instead of a towering castle.
The smell hit him before he even entered the barn. How were they supposed to concentrate? He supposed that really didn't matter as he took a seat on an empty mat as far away from the animals as was possible. "Hello, Professor Vance." Pretty Professor Vance, which was pretty much the only reason he'd dragged himself out here this morning. I mean, it wasn't like he was going to pursue this as a career or anything.

Professors should NOT be allowed to change the location of their lessons. Ever. Because even though she had time to walk sprint down the staircases from the towers to the barn due to arriving early at the towers, she despised it. First of all, why was her head of house even CHANGING the location in the first place? And what did a BARN and CREATURES have to do with divination readings anyway? NOTHING, Skylar was convinced. Absolutely nothing.
Also, she was exhausted, which only made the matters of changing locations worse, because she hadn't prepared for it. She prepared for everything, so why had she neglected that fine bit of information? And if she couldn't recall that teeny detail, then what hope did that leave for her OWL exams? Cue panic on top of exhaustion.
"Professor Vance," she greeted, taking a seat on the mat next to Rhea. Good, a moment to catch her breath before class began. Also, was her fellow fifth year feeling as overwhelmed and exhausted as she was?

It was too early for class. TOO EARLY.
Zoryn Spinnet had to zombie her way to class today and boy, was she unhappy about it. Who the heck thought it was a good idea to put a class outside THIS early in the day? especially because she had gone to the divination classroom first before realizing they were doing class outside. Which, yes, may have been her fault, BUT it was actually Professor Vance's fault for putting the lesson outside in the first place.
As the third year made her way towards the rest of her class, she made sure to approach her Professor first. "Hi Professor, I think... I THINK I'M HAVING A VISION!!!" After a very long, dramatic pause... She continued, "I SEEEEE that you're gonna cancel class today and let us go back to sleep!"
How bow dah?

Divination class!
Vi had managed to walk in on Zoryn proclaiming that Professor Vance was going to cancel class. She quirked a brow at the younger Lioness. Gotta to admire Zoryn's brazenness. These were reasons why she really enjoyed the younger girl. The girl clearly belonged on stage or something. She had a calling in the theatre for sure! She'd have to get Zoryn's autograph before she graduated. Thank Merlin she had a year and a bit to go.
"Hello Professor Vance! How's your day?" she asked, remembering her recent run in with the Professor at the Slug Pit. Of all places in Hogwarts to run into a Professor, it had been a most interesting place to run into the Professor.... especially given that the Professor had seen the two Lions being not so brave. Whoops. Her cheeks flushed pink at that memory as she went and claimed a mat close to Kitty and Emmeline.

Divination.
She had thought about giving up on it seeing as the subject wasn’t something she was going into in the future, but Cass figured it continue for something fun. It wasn’t like it required that much studying and research, just following along with the professor and other students in the lessons. So that was why she was there once more. At least having it outside in the warm October air was nicer than having to travel up all those stairs to the tower.
“Good Morning, Professor Vance,” Cassie greeted with a smile before moving to take a seat. Oh look… she mused to herself as she noticed another woman in the room sitting at the back. Did they have a guest? The Ravenclaw gave a polite smile and nod to the stranger before sitting down on a mat to be ready for the lesson.

Divination classes hadn’t exactly proven to be her best last term, and Stasya still hadn’t forgotten the prediction professor Vance had given her last term about being kicked by one of the hippogriffs. Which she still didn’t believe would actually happen because she knew the barn creatures, and they knew her. They liked her, and she fully intended on visiting with them after the lesson. One advantage to the lesson being held in the barn, after all. She’d already be there, so it was that much better. Maybe she could just visit the creatures instead of the lesson, if she didn’t like what they were learning. Or maybe Dobby could sit with her during the lesson and learn with them. She’d glanced around for here squirrel as she’d made her way into the barn and toward the middle either way.
And apparently there was another older lady sitting in on this lesson too. So maybe it wasn’t just a thing testing Healer Reed and the librarian because they were new professors this term. It was interesting either way, and she’d sent the woman a curious look as she passed her. Plus, she waved at Emmeline already sitting on a mat with Kitty before she gave a smile to Professor Vance. “Good morning Professor Vance,” she said, before going over to the mat Kyle was seated at.
“Can I sit here?” She gave him a smile before dropping down onto the mat. Now she just had to wait to find out why they were here.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Daisy entered the barn and greeted the Divination teacher with a smile and a "Good morning, Professor Vance." Finding a vacant mat to sit down on, Daisy looked around, curious as to why today's lesson was in a barn. Not that she was complaining much, though. Daisy loved the outdoors.

So Char wasn't a big fan of divination for personal reasons, but she DID love anything to do with creatures, so she was happy enough to bound down to the grounds for today's lessons.
"Hello Professor!" This was going to be interesting. Would she make them guess what kind of divination they would be doing? Because Charlotte's guess was poop-related. Animals pooped a lot. There'd be a lot of animal poop to work with. Manure. Not ideal, but she wasn't squeamish. Even if it was going to be something else (and the possibilities were endless?) Char was prepared, having already imperviused her clothes and shoes.
Who would she work with today?

Shay was enjoying her walk to Divination class. The weather was beautiful and she took her time getting to the designated meeting place. Having an outdoor class on a nice day was a good thing. During winter, not so much.
As she arrived at the barn, Shay took a moment to observe the set up. She wondered what they would be doing in this particular location. Clearly class had something to do with the animals, but what? She didn't spend too much time pondering that question though, as she spotted the Divination professor. "Good Morning Professor Vance", Shay said cheerfully. Then she headed for an empty mat and sat down. Shay took a moment to get her things in order and waited for class to begin. Hopefully she would have time to pay a visit to Coco after class was over.
