| | CoMC Lesson 2: Adventures with Mooncalves It was a very cold night at the end of January, but Tristan had taken every precaution to make sure his students stayed warm. Around the immediate area where they would be working he used multiple warming spells to make sure that no one was cold. Working outside in these conditions would be a little difficult, but this lesson was going to be totally worth it. He also put out the hay bales for students to sit on in a semi circle and put individual Bluebell flames in jars at each bale, in case the students wanted to warm their hands when they sat down.
It was close to midnight, when the full moon was almost at it's peak. Tristan had forgone his normal hay bale masterpiece and just sat in a camp chair waiting for the students to arrive. He also had a table full of cups and two cauldrons; one full of hot chocolate and the other full of warm apple cider. Professor Wayland leaned back in his chair, hot chocolate in hand, and patiently waited for his students to arrive. OOC: Welcome to the second CoMC Lesson of the term! Please make sure you take a gander at the CoMC Rules while waiting. Class will start in 24 hours. Class has now started! Please remember that anyone arriving late will receive IC consequences, so please just jump in like you have been here the whole time! Have fun! Olly made his way back out to the field for a second time, moving a little faster this time. There was only ten minutes left to collect the poop. He tried looking around at the other buckets but it was so dark he couldn't see very well from a distance. He wasn't sure if Slytherin was ahead or not. He really wanted to win so he would do what he could to help his teammates. Olly scooped some more poop into his bucket until it was full and then hurried back to the main Slytherin bucket to dump it in. There was still time for them to win this.

It was actually really entertaining to see. But instead of laughing, he kept an amused grin on his face. He checked his watch, then cupped his hands around his mouth once again, calling out, "5 minutes!" It seemed as if one house was definitely winning over the others.
He checked his watch again, wondering when their special guest would be arriving. He was sure the older man would be here soon enough. OOC: You have about 4 hours to get your last few posts in!!!

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent So, they were going to play a game by collecting the mooncalf dung? It seemed to Henry like it was just a thinly veiled way for Wayland to have them do some work for him and Professor Paul, and Henry chuckled at the thought of it to himself. But he didn't really mind. It was a good way for him to learn about the care of mooncalves, and he did want to understand more about magical creatures.
He pulled his dragonhide gloves on as he followed the rest of the class back out towards the crop circles. Henry did wonder if he could use a levitating spell to pick up the dung, but he sort of assumed that they couldn't, whether the magic would affect it or for some other reason, considering they were asked to use the gloves and to pick it up. He was about to ask when he heard Miranda's little brother ask the question first. Henry found the answer to be a little odd, considering they could use a levitation spell, but he wasn't going to argue. Instead, he silently began gingerly picking up the creatures' fecal matter with his gloves and deposited it in his bucket. There really was a lot of it.

Only 5 minutes left. Time was counting down, and Sam glanced across the field to see if any younger Ravenclaws could do with any help carrying over-full buckets of dung back. Maybe she could do the heavy carrying, and swap them with her empty bucket to keep filling. Tactics and competitive much?! She spotted Jessa nearby, but the fourth year seemed to be kinda lethargic about the activity all round. Probably not the best candidate to become a bucket carrier for. Others seemed like they were just going out to refill like her.
So back to poop scooping it was. She could get at least one bucket back in the remaining five minutes; perhaps another half one if she ran fast. Of course, she had to go further afield this time, with entrance to the field now being the clearest. She jogged across to a fairly concentrated patch of dung, before plopping her bucket down and getting to work. She was conscious of the time ticking down, so the dung was more thrown into the container than placed...but it didn't really matter, right?. She banged the bucket against the ground a few times to remove any air pockets, and continued the pace.
Once her bucket was was full, she retraced her steps back to the Ravenclaw container at a quick march. As it emptied into the Ravenclaw tub, she glanced over to Professor Wayland for a sign of the timing situation. Could she fit in another trip?!
...a watch would be really useful in times such as these.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Bramble "Bram" Wyatt Lennox Graduated | ThunderPUFF | Whoodley | MRD&LKD | Graphics Queen | Tristalen | Mrs. A | Hunny Bun Tristan checked his watch one last time, before cupping his hands to his mouth and calling out. "Alright dump your last bucket! Time's up!" He waited patiently for everyone to get their last bucket dumped, and it was rather clear who the winner was.
As the last student dumped their bucket he went over to the group of students. "Alright! Great job everyone! Professor Myers will be here momentarily to pick up the fruits of your labor! As for the house that won the prize...," He paused for a moment of suspense, "...that would be Slytherin! You all will receive an extra 5 points each!" He said with a grin. "Now, off you go! Grab your bags and make sure houses walk together. No one is allowed to walk alone." He paused, "Those couple students that asked for samples, you may take a handful, and no more." He looked at Jessa with a grin. "Thanks for a great lesson everyone and have a good nights sleep! I am sure the Mooncalves will be dancing in your dreams." He said with a small chuckle. OOC: Alright everyone! Great job! Only those Slytherins that posted for the Main Activity will be receiving the extra 5 points and they will be recorded separately from your lesson points. I will be leaving this thread open for another 24 hours so that Professor Myers can pick up the poop and so that you all can finish posting or post your students leaving! Thank you all for attending!! I appreciate you all so much!

| finishing the activity Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite She heard the Professor call the activity to a close, really she did and it appalled her to think she was still in the field collecting dung.
While others may have been making several trips, the Ravenclaw wasn't as keen on the idea so she'd magically extended the inside of her bucket. That way, it could fit far more than the average bucket in one trip. When even the extension charm wasn't enough to keep the dung from rising high into the bucket, she knew she'd collected enough--not that that mattered anymore since they were being called back.
Just as before, Jessa made no rush to head back to the others. There would be no running with loads or otherwise creating a hassle for herself when it wasn't necessary. Thing was...she'd never been a particularly competitive person.
It was just a thing.
She got back to the others in time to hear the instructions on leaving and that they could have a handful..which....was only useful if..."Can those of us keeping the dung stay and return to the greenhouse with Professor Myers when he gets here?"
Otherwise it'd just be a waste.

Patrick looked around feeling like he accomplished a lot, especially when Professor Wayland called the activity to a close. Waiting to hear who won, he really hoped that it would be slytherin because that would just be the icing on the cake. Yes he thought while mentally fist bumping himself for getting the most amount of poop in the bucket. Wow. Poop he had lost his marbles finally.
He started to gather his things, "Thanks professor, great lesson!" he waited for some other Slytherins to begin leaving before he left since they needed to walk together.

| YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers She was at the containers for the second time around when she heard the Professor call the activity to a close. But the best part was that Slytherin had collected the most poo, which sounded slightly bad, but was exciting because they won an activity. Grinning at her fellow Slytherins, her attention was back on Wayland when he said they could take a sample if they wanted. Uh, no thanks? First of all, she wasn't big on Herbology, so experimenting with plant fertilizer wasn't exactly her cup of tea. Second of all, it was DUNG, and she really didn't fancy having dung, even if it was silver in her dorm, unless it was in the form of a dungbomb. Not that she had those, or would admit it if she did, which she probably did.
Noone to walk alone, and yet, didn't some of the walk alone to come out to the class tonight? See, this was why professors shouldn't hold night classes, unless it was Astronomy, because there was so much confusion. Not to mention with the strange happenings that were going on around the castle, from dorms being ransacked, to the library and a missing dark arts book, to blood writing at the bulletin board. Yea, it was a strange place this year, which only added to the surprise that the professors were willing to hold night classes. "Thanks Professor," she noted of him, as she caught up with Patrick to walk with him back to the common room.
