| | Book Maze The Book Maze is a nifty little thing that Kalen set up himself, he picked out every book in the maze, hoping you might stop and take a glance at one as you wander through the labyrinth. The books in the maze have also been alphabetized, due to the Librarian's need to organize over the winter break.
Small jars full of blue bell flames are floating overhead to light your way. Chairs have been placed in quiet nooks throughout the maze, in case you want a quiet place to read, or to get your bearings.
Should you reach the middle of the maze, you will find a few chairs, a table and study supplies. The middle has been magically charmed to be extra quiet and calming. One might need this little place if you want to get away from everyone to study.
And if you get lost don't worry, Kalen goes through the maze once a day..

A bit selfish but...what would most Gryffindors be doing with a good book anyway? "You've been reading up on mooncalves?" The mermaid stuff she knew about thanks to Derf and who didn't like a good adventure but mooncalves gave the Ravenclaw pause."D'you think you read enough to know how to get up an personal with one?--Under the assumption we could find one, that is."
Curiously, Jessa peered down one corridor before heading in the opposite direction. "I like all sorts. Adventure ones like you, but I also like practical ones about on things like anatomy and necromancy and genetic modification. Things that help with my experiments. Romance ones are alright too but most of them are unrealistic and impractical so they frustrate me." She didn't like when things stopped adding up and making sense. Merlin. Natalie nodded, beaming when she asked about mooncalves. It was basically the first land creature that Natalie had ever had appreciation before, EVEN though her first interaction with them HAD been involved with poop. It was a miracle. Considering Jessa's next question, Natalie tilted her head and then nodded a little. "Yeah, probably. I've learned quite a bit. You just have to--"
She stopped suddenly, remembering Jessa's last plan to get them killed. "Why?" Why. Why came before answers.
Also, what? Genetic modification? Experiments? She was still human, right? "Errr.. what kind of experiments?" Natalie asked warily. Wasn't she, like, only 15 or something? That seemed a little young to be doing genetic modification experiments. Natalie just wanted to take naps and maybe kiss a boy or something. As for the romance novels, she shrugged. She enjoyed them.. probably too much, even though she knew they were unrealistic. |

That got a curious raise of her brow. Had the girl lost her train of thought? Couldn't remember the information? Ah. A 'why'. Somehow she should've known there was going to be a why because if it'd been her, she'd probably have been asking why too. "I wanna see one and I wanna collect more of their dung to help with some immediate experiments." Since it'd be useless by morning. "But I'm also curious about them personally and we've already learned how elusive they can be elusive. Wouldn't you want to hold one?" By now, she may have been playing on the younger girls wants. How much did she really wanna see a mooncalf? How much did she adore them? Hmmmm? "All kinds!" The Ravenclaw enthused, turning the corner that lead them into another long corridor. "My favourite and the one with most of my attention right now's my necromancy study--you've never seen my undead birds, they look good as new. I absolutely adore them. I also do a couple studies on long term effects of spells on living things, got some involving the flesh eaters back in the greenhouse--wanted to make my own dragon one day but that one's waaayyy up in the pipeline. I'm only doing the research for now."

They were cute and had giant eyeballs and were CUTE and she DID want to hold one, but she KNEW that Jessa was playing on her emotions here and trying to get her to help her with her experiments. But... Natalie didn't trust her yet.
Especially after she mentioned her necromancy study. No, she hadn't ever seen her undead birds and she wasn't quite sure she WANTED to. "Hmmm," Natalie hummed skeptically as they turned the corner. But before she agreed to anything else, she wanted more answers. "So, what would you do with the mooncalf poop? Assuming they'd let you take some." Because maybe Professor Myers needed it for fertilizer or something? |

Because maybe Professor Myers needed it for fertilizer or something? "I've got a couple plants I'd like to test under the nourishment of their magic dung." Why beat around the bush when it seemed like Nat was hell bent on an answer before offering more info? Sometimes you had to give to get and that was perfectly fine with the Ravenclaw. "I've been using regular fertilizer on most of 'em but there's this one hybrid I've been trying to help Isa with that I think could benefit from the extra shot of magic."
Pretty reasonable, right? She wasn't trying to hurt the little darlings, she only wanted their poo. "What would you do with 'em if we ran into some?" Jessa assumed the Slytherin's interest in the creatures went beyond looks. There was probably something proper intriguing in Nat's train of thought and Jessa would be lying if she didn't say she was interested to know what.
Maybe it was their habits? Or the coordination of their dance--because she was curious about that too. "What'd you think, right or left?" They'd come to a section of the maze that require such a choice.
