The Whomping Willow is a valuable but extremely violent magical plant that has been on the grounds of Hogwarts since 1971. Beneath, it hides the Shrieking Shack and if you locate the little knot that makes the tree still you might find your way there, if you dare.
The Groundskeeper along with the rest of the staff advice all students to please, don't get too close to this majestic but violent beauty. It is known for attacking all who come close to it and unless you wish to spend the rest of the year in the Hospital Wing; stay at a safe distance from the range of its branches.
If you still want to try your luck in getting closer; don’t forget to duck.
"Yeah thanks for pointing that out sherlock.." she smirked because she knew she was giving the kid a hard time. Zae graciously took his two hands and stood up. She didn't realize the tree would actually hit back that hard. I mean she can clearly feel the warm blood dripping down her arm. "I'm sure it is probably nothing too serious just a scrape.." It would heal on its own. She didn't want to bother the healer too much but she did hear rumors he was pretty cute. Maybee just maybeee.
Back onto the cute guy slytherin in front of her. She blushed when he said her name out loud. "Yup and your Cameron. Do you like to be called Cam for short? I mean you can call me Zae for short if you want.." she shrugged. The slytherin saw she caught Cameron off guard with her question. Yes she was random so what? "Yeah I am still freaked out by him to be honest..." I mean squids like that creep her out. Not to mention that people eat them which was disgusting. "I am still getting used to the common room being underwater and all...what happens if the windows break..I mean would we drown in there..?" All these thoughts just blurt out of her mouth just now. Now Cameron must think she is insane.
Okay, he didn't particularly care if she was being snarky or not. She WAS still bleeding. "You should get that fixed." Even if it didn't hurt (which he doubted), it was still b l e e d i n g. So not only was she going to get blood on everything but it could also get infected and okay he was pretty sure he couldn't live with knowing that he had been AROUND and hadn't done anything. He had a feeling his parents would be majorly disappointed.
"You can call me Cam if you like." Honestly, he didn't really mind either way. As for her nickname, he was probably going to go with Zae then. It was a lot easier to remember than Zarina. Zae. Okay. "I don't think the windows can break." Or at least he hadn't worried about it ever. Like, magic was a thing so you know.

"Yeahhh I should do a lot of things yet here we are..." she gestured towards the castle. I mean if she did the right things like follow her mothers rules, she wouldn't have experienced the magic and knew she had magical abilities. "Besides it seems like it is scabbing up..." she says as the blood is dripping from her arm. "I mean if I did want to go to the hospital wing, it is a hike..it is sooo far.." She looked at the entrance to the castle with a disgusted look. Oh schweet she can call him Cam. Noted. "Alright Cam. That's easy enough." Now his next comment made her snort. "Yeah well one day it might..you never know. But then again there is magic.." she muttered. Stupid argument there.
She kept looking up at the tree. "What do you know about this violent tree? I heard rumors and all but I wanna hear the story.." She kept watching the tree like dance in the wind. Then a bird flew and it killed it.
Welp that was dramatic.
Old-style camera in hand, Paul waited for Lucy in the spot they had agreed to meet at to start their picture-taking journey. She had mentioned...wanting to do the Willow first, and Paul thought it was a SPLENDID idea! He stood a good distance away from it, though, and waiting.
She wasn't late. He had just arrived early, and he began to click away at the Willow. It was still, for now. He wondered if he could...get away with goading it, though.

Lucy was dressed a little down from how bundled she'd been all winter. Spring was approaching. She comfortable left the castle in just her heavy cloak, hat, scarf, and gloves. But, hey, she left her real jacket inside.
A grin spread across her face the instant she saw her Head of House already there. Silently, happily, she approached.

He snapped one more picture and then smiled. He hoped they would come out okay....
LUCY had arrived! Paul grinned as he saw her and waved, through the end of his scarf around his neck once more when a cool bit of wind ruffled through. "Hello to you, Lucy! You're looking quite cheerful!" Which made him happy. Perhaps all of his concern and help for her would pay off? One of his Hufflepuffs would benefit from him, hopefully. "I'm going to try to mess with it a bit to get it to move. You can snap the picture, yeah?" he asked before handing the camera over to her.
He wasted no time in stepping in the path of the Willow, his wand drawn.

"Hi!" she greeted. Yeah, she was pretty cheerful. She was excited for today and things to come. And generally felt better being around Professor Myers right now. He was the only person she confided in, and the only person not to judge her determination, but to help instead.
And getting right to business. "Yeah!" Lucy eagerly took the camera and held it up as if going to take a picture. "This button, right?" Just like normal cameras?
Also, she had no words for her appreciation that he was going to try and make it move. Personally, she'd have just thrown something in its direction, but Professor Myers' plan would probably work better, whatever it was. He was a professor, he was a professional.

"Yes, yes, THAT ONE!" he called out to her as he took his time, stepping in the line of fire, so to speak. He wondered if the tree recognized him, ever. He was constantly trimming it up and making it look NICE.
So.
Basically, he'd be offended if it didn't. While he WAS the plant man, Willows weren't really his thing. It didn't mean he wasn't knowledgable about them, but...there were other Herbologists out there that knew them better than he did. Which was fine. To each their own.
Trees.
Anyway.
Ahem.

The footsteps on the ground were felt. Who dares test the Willow in such a way? It began to twist its thick, knotted trunk. Creaaaaaaaking. Branches swayed ominously.

Suddenly,
BAM!
A warning, next to the man. The ground vibrated.
Okay, yeah.
Lucy kept the viewfinder to her eye and the lens pointed at the Willow. She was surprisingly used to the magical tree, but didn't want to subject Professor Myers to danger longer than necessary. Her finger twitched nervously over the button as the tree swayed and twisted.
Finally, the tree plummeted its branch into the ground. Lucy sqeaked and jumped and pressed the button all at once. Meaning, she couldn't be quite sure if she actually got the picture.
Did that matter, though? With moving pictures? Would it still show the tree crashing down if she'd moved?

....right, Paul had to be QUICK ON HIS FEET because the tree was lunging a huuuuuge branch in his direction! Luckily, Lucy's squeak covered HIS squeak of surprise when he ALMOST DIED pretty much.
But honestly.
He was a grown wizard.
He zigzagged his way back to Lucy, but of course.............
He wasn't used to exercise so he lost his balance and FELL TO HIS DOOOM----on the ground. His elderly knees did NOT like this fall, and he probably made a hooooorribly-similiar-to-a-banshee screech as he went TIIIIMBER.

Lucy's eyes grew wide as she GASPED at the sight before her. "PROFESSOR!"
Oh no, oh no, OH NO! WAS HE OKAY?!
She ran over to him. "Professor????" Move. Speak. Did she need to go get someone? She looked around for witnesses.

Oh.
"I'm fine!" he said as he took a deeeeeeep breathe and rubbed his knees. "I'm fine. I don't need the healer."
But Paul thought they had gotten enough pictures. He stood up as quickly as he could (with his wobbly knees) and pulled her along with him. "Let's get MOVING before it wants to hit us BOTH----" and he scurried away, out of whomp-shot from the Willow.

Despite having a go against Hogwarts most infamous tree back in January, Louise didn't feel all too right about it. Most because she'd been under a daydream potion or charm or whatever and it made the seventh year wonder just how much of what she 'encountered' was real.
She was all caught up on her studies and being on foreign soil to the seventh year meant actually getting to explore that territory more. Something that she hadn't done all too much, which was why she was out here. Gazing up at the tree which felt much more massive now than during the second challenge, strangely enough.
Or was it the fact that she wasn't focused on surviving a challenge, but actually really seeing it for the first time?

Free time was something that Noelle didn't have a lot of. She was usually studying, training, or patrolling. But right this moment, she was giving herself some free time. Taking a break for a moment because her mind was so mixed up at the moment, that it was giving her such a headache.
She just needed to breath.
Heading out to the ground for a little bit of fresh air, Noelle work a light jacket. She was glad the weather was warming up. The sun felt good. Plus it wasn't dreadfully cold.
With her, Noelle was carrying Pip, her adopted bowtruckle. She deserved a bit of fresh air too. Away from the infirmary. She walked past an Ilvermorny student before she realized who it was. "Hey. You're.... Louise right?" Noelle asked, stopping a little bit from the girl so Pip didn't spook. Even though the bowtruckle was acting as if she was scared of nothing. "Congrats on the challenges. You all are doing amazing. That's.... those challenges...." Where were the words? There was no way to describe those challenges and watching them. "Anyways... you're doing amazing."
