| | The Tapestry
Once referred to as "The Mysterious Tapestry," this wall hanging first came to notice during Draconia's tenure as Headmistress. The passageway which existed behind the tapestry has long since been sealed, but the tapestry continues to be a site of great interest to those familiar with its story or those who appreciate such textile arts.
It also makes a convenient meeting place as there is no other tapestry as grand and vibrant as this in the castle.

| Mj Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door With the end of January approaching, it looked like everybody was freaking out about the approaching exams. The fifth years were losing their mind --not surprising, given how many of them were planning on taking eleven OWLs-- and the seventh years simply looked like zombies, to be quite honest. Or mummies. Maybe that had been the inspiration behind Hirsch's last lesson. Things to idly consider on her way down to her common room, she supposed.
Because that was where she was going. Probably. The thing about being a sixth year was that she seemed to be in a sort of limbo. Professors (and parents -- well, Mother) were telling her that she needed to start her NEWTs preparation this year but all the fifth years and seventh years were, however silently and mostly through glares, telling her that her exam preparation wasn't the priority. Mister Kennedy was in it too, reserving study tables specifically for those years and letting the others to fight it out. Nevermind that she had actual exams at the end of the year too; the fact they weren't issued by the Ministry of Magic didn't make them less important.
Not that she cared but still -- it was a matter of principle.
That was why she was walking away from the library, not looking particularly happy. Why couldn't the library stay as it had been in the beginning of the term? Creepily empty and ready for adventures. Lazily, she was watching the portraits on the wall, bowing her head to the figures that greeted her and poking her tongue out at the rude ones, when her eyes fell upon the tapestry. Hmm. No one was around -- she had checked-- and the idea of going down to her Common Room was as unappealing as the idea of getting a Bludger to the head. What if one of the secret passageways of the castle --like the one rumored to lead to Honeydukes-- was hidden behind this old thing?
She didn't know if it was or not, but as she pulled the fabric to take a peek behind, she was definitely hoping the answer was affirmative. |

She didn't know if it was or not, but as she pulled the fabric to take a peek behind, she was definitely hoping the answer was affirmative. Henry had a bit of free time in his schedule today and while he'd normally be spending that kind of lucrative time outside, he was currently heading to the library, a place that he didn't normally frequent. Sure, he had spent a considerable amount of time there last year, but that was because it was his OWL year and he at least attempted to attend study groups when he could. But the library to Henry was one of those places that he was thankful it was around when he needed it, but largely forgotten when he didn't need it. It was just kind of boring and he usually had better things to do.
But today he actually needed the library and was on his way down the fourth corridor when a movement caught his eye. He had been past that tapestry probably a thousand times in the past five and half years, but after his first year hadn't given it a whole lot of thought or notice. He could see a person partially hidden by it as she was peering behind it, and that was enough to at least momentarily pique his curiosity. "Anything exciting back there?" he asked the figure as he approached. Oh hey, was that Carden? He had seen enough of the back of her head during flying trials to think he'd recognize it.

| Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door First things first: this tapestry was enormous and really, really heavy. The Slytherin did work out a lot and upper body strength was necessary to efficiently play Quidditch as a Chaser but it was still heavy. And dusty. One would think that in a magical castle dust wouldn't be a problem but clearly the new influx of students was proving too be too much for the house-elves.
Maybe Hawthorne should've hired another caretaker after ... the events of the previous year.
Soon enough, however, she was half covered by the heavy fabric, allowing her hand to roam freely against the stonewall. Maybe she was just imagining things but something did feel different there. Was the stone smoother? No, that wasn't it; the material was still rough against the palm of her hand but -- "Oh!" The hand that was about to reach for her wand froze and Daisy pulled her head back, peeking from behind the tapestry. "Whittebrook! Didn't recognise your voice. Thank Merlin you're one of those Ilvermorny professors." He knew the ones, surely. The beautiful but scary ones that always were joined at the hip. Remembering his question, she shook her head and frowned. "Sort of. I feel like there is but -- help me hold it up, please?"
See, she had said please. Levi was completely wrong when he said she was bossy. |

See, she had said please. Levi was completely wrong when he said she was bossy. Oh.. had he startled her? Henry hadn't meant to, but he chuckled upon the realization, wondering if he had caught her doing something shady. It would explain the jumpiness. But it was also Carden, so he wasn't sure how much shadiness was actually coming into play here. "Right, sorry about that," he said with another chuckle which turned into a sneeze covered by the crook of his arm. Was there a dust cloud coming from that ancient thing or what? "Hm?" He gave her a quizzical look after his sneeze. "You think those Ilvermorny professors would have a problem with you sneaking around?" Maybe, now that he thought about it. But he took a glance both ways down the corridor and didn't see anyone else around. "Yeah.. yeah, sure.." The old tapestry was heavier than it looked, but he pulled back the end of it, holding it up so Carden could get a better look at... whatever she was looking at. "So what's going on back there?" He tried peeking around her to see too.

| Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door Oh. Maybe moving a dusty old tapestry hadn't been the best of ideas, judging by Henry's sneeze. He was on the outside too, which meant he would get the bulk of his dusty cloud, so if he were to help her do ... whatever it was she was doing, he needed to -- "Cast a Bubble-Head Charm on yourself, maybe? Might help with the sneezing."
She should've scourgified the tapestry before even touching it, really, but it was too late now considering how she was pretty much hidden by it. Head still peaking out from the side, she nodded slowly. I mean, they're very suspicious. Maybe they wouldn't get me in trouble, but I don't think I'd want to be alone with them." It was something about the way they talked -- not that Daisy knew what they talked about -- and the way they looked at other people.
Also, they really were very suspicious.
As Henry pulled up the tapestry, she felt the weight on her shoulder disappear and she managed to turn around to stare fully at the wall. Her thank you was said, or mumbled rather, and Daisy wasn't sure Henry even heard it considering how she was behind a heavy tapestry but she wasn't worry -- the mentalk link between teammates, Chasers at that, was very real and powerful. "Nothing." She sounded rather disappointed. Turning her back to the wall, she held the tapestry up with both arms, trying to give Henry a chance to look. "But I feel like something should be happening, you know?"
Or maybe she was just too bored. |
