Welcome to the Room of Meditation! Professor Vance is of the mind that to be a good interpreter of the future and of the Divination arts, then you need to clear your mind from all other thoughts and to be in a room that opens up all your senses. The room is decorated in warm pink, purples, greens, blues and with a high concentration of incense possibly lavender but you'd have to smell to see, it varies from day to day. As you step in relaxing, soothing instrumental music starts to play quietly to help stimulate your mind and senses emanating from somewhere unspecific.
The room is set up with round tables for working alone or with a small group. The wooden chairs are cushioned and charmed to be comfortable even for those that spend several hours in here. In the back wall cabinets of mahogany you will find any divination material you may need for practice sessions from stones, tarot cards and crystal balls to name a select few. If they haven't been already snagged then you can also find hand models for palmistry readings and astrology posters. Near the entrance there are cupboards with tea cups, saucers, leaves and kettles. Be mindful not to break any china! If you do Professor Vance will not be pleased.
This room is open to all students of any year to use for study, practice divination or just to relax the mind from the ongoing school happenings.[/color]
OOC: This room is for students and staff alike to RP in. Please follow all classroom, school and general SS rules. Just because Professor Vance may not be in the room doesn't mean she won't hear what's going on in here.

There were those times when Kay liked to be alone so that she could relax. ‘Me time’ was always a great thing in her opinion and while today she didn’t quite feel like reading or listening to music in her office or even going outside to catch the sunshine, she found herself moving towards the Divination tower. Was she going to visit Laurel?
Apparently not.
Kay decided to stop in by the Meditation room. Peeking in, there seemed to be no one there. There was only quiet which was perfect. Possibly she could try her hand at Tarot readings. So she moved over to one of the tables after taking a pack of the cards. Now… how was this particular type of reading done again? Was there a particular method?

Etta made her way to the meditation room slowly. She really wanted to relax for a bit before heading to the library later. OWLs were already stressing her out and school had just started. She had done a bit of reading over the summer but still, it wasn't enough. No amount of reading or studying was enough when she had the most important exams to write this year. GULP.
She entering the room casually, assuming she'd be the only one here at this time of the day.. but her assumption had been wrong, clearly. "Professor?" Etta looked at Professor Kay in surprise. What was she even doing here? It was quite early in the morning, after all. Uh. "Hello." She gave her a small smile, wondering if the Professor needed the room to herself.. maybe? "I can come back later?"

Most definitely Kay was out of practice. If she was correct, she needed to cut the deck of cards first. Though she did remember there were seventy eight cards; twenty two major arcana and fifty six minor arcana, she was't exactly sure how much of a help that bit of knowledge would help. Deciding that she would wing it, the woman started shuffling the cards though her attention was drawn to the setting of the room. She could never get over how cozy the place was. "I'll need to remember to compliment Laurel about this.''
Hearing movement from the Room's entrance, Kay turned her head in that direction and was pleasantly surprised to see a student there. "Hello, Ms Kramer! Oh no! You're most welcome to join me.'' Possibly Henrietta could remember the correct method for Tarot card reading, yes? "I must congratulate you on your accomplishment. You are going to do a wonderful job as prefect.'' There was a hint of pride in Kay's voice. You see, she was always proud of her students when they achieved meaningful titles like this one.
Welcome to join her? Ooookay. Etta hesitated for a moment before walking towards where the professor was, wondering what she was even upto. Did the professor spend a lot of time here? Maybe she liked to meditate too? Get away from people? Or maybe she had an interest in Divination? A lot of questions but she couldn't ask the professor, obviously.
She stood next to Professor Stewart, noticing the fact that she had a deck of tarot cards in her hand. Interesting. "Oh.. thank you, Professor." Etta replied with a grin, her cheeks turning mildly pink. Coming from a professor.. it was a huge compliment, after all. "I'm very excited and happy about it." A little nervous too but the professor didn't need to know that.

Did Henrietta have second thoughts about joining her? That would be okay with Kay, she would understand if the Hufflepuff needed some time alone to practice her Readings or for something else. Never the less, she was pleased that Henrietta decided to join her. "You're welcome. Why don't you have a seat? Do you mind refreshing me on doing Tarot reading?''
Kay had stopped shuffling the cards now. "If I remember correctly, it's started by asking a question and then pick a card for interpretation.'' She looked questioningly at Etta. "Along with Ancient Runes, Divination was never a strong subject area of mine and it has been years since I tried doing a reading of any kind.'' The woman was never afraid of admitting her weaknesses; not when she could turn it into a learning experience.

Seriously, professor? You're asking a fifteen-year old for help? Actually, Etta was rather flattered. This way she could brush up on Divination a little too. The Hufflepuff sat down and looked at the tarot cards in the professor's hands, trying to remember what she knew about it.
"Exactly. I think you spread out the cards first, come up with a question that you really need an answer for and pick a card. Every card has a different meaning, to put it simply." She threw a curious look at the professor, a frown settled between her brows. Etta obviously had questions but she didn't think asking them would be appropriate since.. well, she was a professor, after all. "Ancient Runes isn't my strongest subject either." She commented with a grin.

Was that surprise on Etta's face? Kay grinned. She suspected it was the reaction from being asked the unusual question of showing a Professor how something was done. In all fairness, she did believe that students could teach their professors something sometime.
Spread the cards first?
"I've shuffled enough so I'll spread them.'' Kay did exactly this on the table. "Now for the question...hmm. Will I have another successful year teaching at Hogwarts?'' Now she picked a card at random, after taking a few moments with her right hand hovering over the spread. She flipped the card over, glanced at it then showed it to Etta. "The Wheel of Fortune. Is there a text book around here to use for the interpretation? Or do you know what this card means, Ms Kramer?''
