Behind the Groundskeeper's Hut, right at the edge of the Forbidden Forest towers an igloo. A spell keeps it from melting during the warmer seasons and despite some protest from the Groundkeeper’s side, the students are welcome to enter. This is where Mr. Baldvinsson likes to retreat when the Scottish summer gets too warm or when he needs to reminisce of his many years as a ranger on Svalbard.
Since the Igloo is completely made of ice, inside and out, you’ll notice it’s a clever idea to borrow one of the fur coats provided by Mr. Baldvinsson. Please leave the coat (undamaged, thank you) by the entrance for the next student to use.
Inside the Igloo are several ice statues in the shape of both magical and non-magical creatures that Mr. Baldvinsson found an interest in back home. A large sofa with a warming fur throw is located at one side of the room where you may take a seat and flip through one of the books on how to lure a polar bear, using snow patterns to track down a wolf pack or the quickest way to locate a hot spring. In the evening, a beautiful display of the northern lights is shown with green and blue lights dancing across the icy ceiling.
Any use of heatening charms such as Chaudensis or any fire spells are strictly forbidden, for obvious reasons. Please make sure to leave the Igloo as you found it and don’t let the northern lights make you forget the time for curfew. Mmhm.

Viola would have been a cool name too. Definitely just as strong as Olivia in her mind. She laughed when Ace mentioned that his Mum didn't like talking about Twilight because it misrepresented werewolves and vampires. That was fair. "Yeah cause vampires don't just sparkle in the sunlight!" she chuckled. "A couple of my friends were really crazy about it a few years ago." Like fan girl crazy. Olivia had never gotten to that point herself but her friends had chosen which teams they were on. It was all silly.
She smiled when Ace gave her two thumbs up. Yes! She got it. Her eyebrows raised slightly at his question. A family nickname? Ummm... She had been called Ollie, Ols, and Liv at home. "Well I've been called Ollie and Liv at home but there are people here called that." They had a Liv in their year and house even. And then there was Olly in Slytherin. And there was an Ollie who was a seventh year Slytherin last year. Merlin. Maybe she ought to switch her name? "I've been called Ols a lot too. Maybe I should go by Alice? It'd probably make it easier for people. What do you think?"
Olivia was about to remove her hand from Ace's, thinking that perhaps she had placed her hand a bit too long on his but then she felt fingers grip her own hand gently. She stayed still momentarily, not letting anything happen. On the inside, she was nervous and debated with herself. She liked him and she was unsure if he knew. Maybe he did but then again maybe he didn't? She could feel her hands becoming warmer by the second. Nerves. It was definitely that. He hadn't removed it though. Instead, he had just squeezed hers back slightly which sent butterflies straight into her stomach. After a while, Olivia removed her hand from his slowly. At his comment about her just being her, she grinned genuinely, intrigued by what he had said. She blushed ever so slightly at that. "I see." She paused, listening to him talk about watching the northern lights and then his Mum having to massage potions into his poor neck. She chuckled. "I think you're definitely a dancer, especially under those lights. I think that you'll just have to go back." She smiled softly at him, meaning every word that she said. "I'm also okay at dancing as well." Olivia still enjoyed it sometimes.
Yes, she was muggleborn and proud! "Yes, they are. Dad was surprised when Simon and I both started being able to float a crayon. He thought he was dreaming," she chuckled, remembering hearing that story. To his question, she nodded. "I remember hearing about my brother's school and how fantastic it was. He also warned me of the dangers but he wrote to me often, informing me of everything that was happening in his life. I've been lucky to have him help me." Her older brother was practically her best friend, if not her longest friend. He had been there since she was born.
Ace had beautiful dreamy eyes. They were a very nice colour of green. "Yeah, they are," she said, glancing at his eyes as he spoke. She had to restrain herself from blushing as she was certain that he would see that. Aha. She could see the yellow streak now. Wow. Beautiful. "I can see it! You're eyes are so cool. Do they seem to change based on what you are wearing?" she asked, taking a step back after she had taken a look. Olivia chuckled. "I'm sure. That's difficult. Imagine getting your driver's license and having to put down what colour your eyes are. It'd all depend on the day." A teasing smirk tugged at her lips. "I have an easier time with those questionnaires. Mine are just light blue but there's never a 'light blue' option so blue will have to do!"
Olivia laughed when Ace explained his thought process for what his father's reaction was when he ended up in Gryffindor. Oh Merlin. Somehow she got the feeling that Ace's father put him under a lot of pressure. It must have been a vibe or something. Her theory was proven true in a matter of moments when he informed her that his father had expectations. Her eyes followed his eyes down to the badge and then she chuckled when she heard that his Dad had fainted. "Oh no! You're poor Dad. He must have been in such a great shock. He sounds like he's very proud of you, Ace." She could see it just from the way that Ace described his father. Olivia listened to his comment about being the youngest Prefect amongst the leaders whereas his Dad has been the oldest Prefect and Head Boy. Incredible. "Did you feel any pressure to become a Prefect?" she asked curiously.
He mirrors his baby sister practically every night? That was adorable and really wonderful of him to do that. He really cared about his family. It was incredible. "It'll mean a lot to her. I'm sure it already means a lot to your sister and your parents." Seriously best brother award should be handed to Ace right now. If Olivia had such an award, she would give it to Ace. He clearly deserved it. Ah stories from her brother? Where to start? "I have so many stories from my brother from throwing snowballs at Professor Flamsteed to playing music with his best mate, Ethan." She had many stories that were golden but her first letter from him was definitely the best. "Simon's first letter to me at Hogwarts here was the best. It arrived in a parcel actually. I have it back in my trunk. The letter started off with him jokingly disowning me from the family as I had ended up in Gryffindor instead of any other house. He said he would have compromised on other houses. It's funny because one of his best mates is a Gryffindor." She smiled. Zander and Simon went way back. She liked all of Simon's friends. They were nice. "Anyway... Behind that page was a journal that he had created for me. The first few pages were filled with his favourite places in Hogwarts and places that I would have to go and visit. It was a guidebook essentially. Then he left the rest of the pages blank so that I could fill in my story." She had spent the whole of last year carrying it with her so that she could find her way around the castle. It was great. "I look at the journal whenever I'm feeling homesick."
Getting along was great! She remained quiet, watching him talk and enjoying learning more about him and his family. She laughed when he spoke about his Dad having an irrational fear of creatures. Olivia, too, loved creatures. She had always enjoyed that class but recently she found herself becoming more interested in Charms. She pretty much enjoyed all the subjects so long as it wasn't flying. Uhhh.. She did not like flying. Now to his question, Olivia paused. That was a great question and she was unsure how to answer it. "I was raised kind of by my grandparents and by my father. I moved to live in France when I was seven. Before that I was living at home in Australia and everything was great. It was around that time that my mother's memory condition became worse." Her mother hadn't even recognized Olivia when the young girl had come to visit. She had remembered her brothers but Olivia...? No. "My father thought it was better for me to go live with my grandparents so I wouldn't see Mum's condition worsen. He didn't want to put us through that." Her father was a strong man indeed and she admired her father greatly. She smiled softly at him, trying to pick up the mood. "I loved living with my grandparents. I think it was a rather normal childhood. Ice cream occasionally, chores a lot, and whatnot. I was a little bit of a troublemaker back in those days. I liked to bend the rules and found a way to get more ice cream," she explained with a chuckle. She wasn't necessarily a bad child. She just knew how to ask for things and do her chores timely. "My father would come visit. He had a lot of business in France. He's an engineer. But I'm definitely closer to my grandparents than my parents."
Olivia laughed at his comment. Ah, best magical school? "Hogwarts is special. I love it here," she said with a small smile as she glanced at him for a second longer before asking, "What do you think of the Illvermonians?" The girls were very unfairly pretty. The guys were cute but just not really her type. Besides, she had eyes for someone else who was a wonderful person inside and outside. No offense Illvermornians. She liked how friendly they all were though. Well... The ones that she had met. Some of them were really loud like Irene and the ones that danced on the table.
"I'm not so sure about the singer part. I love composing and writing music. As for singing..." She chuckled. "I only really sing in the shower or when I'm by myself." It would take a lot to convince Olivia to sing onstage; however, Ace could probably get away with it if he ever tried. "You're right. Following passions is important. You need to do something you love otherwise it would all get a bit dull." She would remember those words for a long time- perhaps her whole life even. Olivia grinned, listening to Ace speak about how his interests were so varied that it was hard to choose between them all. "That's fair and totally okay. There's too many things that would be fun doing!"
The elation he felt when they started talking about Shakespeare. Thank you mommy dearest for reading to him the classics. And to dad for playing out the classics "Yeah I remember that movie too..." he laughed "...There was another version, more traditionally Shakespearean with the costumes and stuff called As You Like It." his inner Ravenclaw is showing isnt it? Hehe "You know talking about the play, I just realized... Olivia and Viola are very similar to each other isnt it? Like anagrams or sumthin'" he hunched down on the powdered snow dusting the igloo floor, and scribbled names down "You have a sweet name..." he murmured unconsciously, reading one of his scribbles with her full name on it. And then he saw it. And chuckled deeply "Vi.... Holden. Its like a play on the word behold... Like beauty is in the eye of the... Vi Holden." Too punny? He'll let himself out.
Her dad found out when his kids did wandless magic? His eyes lit up at her story "Oh man! I could just imagine your dad now. He must've thought his kids are Padawans or something." he laughed "Did you bro think Beauxbaton was better or safer than Hogwarts after he was done studying? " he was curious about transferees' experiences, given how he's starting and hopefully finishing in just one school.
Oh this got him laughing out loud "'It all depends on the day.' Sorry officer, I swear that's me, you should see me in my silk black coat I swear my eyes are blue." lauuuuughing. Watch out he might actually use that.
Ohh the Prefect question. "Well.... yeah...... yeah I guess I did. I still do." he admitted shrugging "Dad's run as Head Boy for Slytherin was pretty successful--" double trifecta for awards for the first time in recent history and all that "--he set a really high bar.... I dunno, I dont want to think about it much, I just... I dont want to spazz out." he laughed nervously, sighed for a bit, but looked back to her and the radiant smile was back. Obviously the pressure was there, but the Son of Sal has his own way of dealing with it.
He listened to her story about her brother-- "Wait your brother said he would disown you but his best mates' a Gryffindor? You ought to get ahold of that guy and get him to set your brother straight." he laughed. All joking of course. But then she continue speaking about the journal her brother made, and a soft smile tugged across his lips. "Ok so maybe your bro aint so bad after all." he grinned "You filling up that journal? Bet its got some pretty interesting stories in there now." and thats putting it lightly given recent events.
And there's her early life story. He listened to this intently, curious how this lovely girl became who she is today. "You were seven? Wow... you'd have history by then, full memories of your mom, not just impressions and trying to piece them together years later...." like his situation "... your dad is a good man for doing that, kinda sparing you from the worst. Were your grandparents your dad's parents or your mom's?"he was curious given that he himself has no real concept of what blood related grandparents are... and the closest he had was their family valet and his stepmom's parents. His Dad's mother? Not the typical grandmother. Theres a reason why for the longest time he called her Aunt Caroline.
What did he think about the Ilvermornians? He grinned then comically glanced around all sneaky-like "I cant speak too badly about them can I they might run me over with that car of theirs." he whispered then laughed "Ok really though? I find them incredibly amusing. Kindered spirits really. That dinner at the Great Hall.... kinda re-awakened that American side in me that usually just comes out when I'm back in New York... all big and loud." Yes he can actually be even more exuberrant on the other side of the pond, if one can imagine. Ah to be the child of a bi-cultural household.
He grinned that secret grin "I bet you have a great singing voice, just need to have a little push..." he nudged her gently again with his shoulder.

He grinned that secret grin "I bet you have a great singing voice, just need to have a little push..." he nudged her gently again with his shoulder.
A smile tugged at her lips and she lifted her chin up a little higher, becoming more confident in her language as she said one of her favourite quotes. "All the world's a stage and all the men and women are players" she said before realizing that she was perhaps getting a little too carried away. Whoops. Olivia could talk about the classics for days on end. Merlin, they were starting to sound like a bunch of Ravenclaws talking about books? Where were there inner Gryffindors now? Out to lunch perhaps? Olivia raised her eyebrows when Ace mentioned that he had just realized something. Hm? What? She followed the curly haired boy's lead to crouch on the ground and watched as he wrote out the names on the snow covered floor. What was he getting at? she wondered. Then when she heard him say that she had a SWEET name. She turned a little red and glanced away momentarily. Gah. She was horrible with compliments especially given from a guy who was just as sweet if not more. Could he tell that she liked him?
.... Beauty is in the eye of the Vi Holden???
OH MERLIN. THE PUNS. THE PUNS!! She was gone. Olivia laughed. "That's a new one. I like it." It was a very creative pun. She'd admit that "Vi Holden?" she repeated. Not a bad nickname. Vi. It could confuse people for sure. "I do like the sound of Vi Holden. Maybe I'd embrACE it," she replied with a smirk.
She nodded at his comment about her Dad thinking that his kids were force-sensitive. It must have been slightly terrifying though. He might have thought he had had a bit too much coffee and had begun hallucinating. Her father had been a scientist so magic didn't exist. He soon learned that it did. Hmm.. To Ace's question, Olivia paused. "Beauxbatons is much safer but it doesn't have the adventures like Hogwarts. I'm so glad I transferred here. This feels like home. I loved Beauxbatons but it just wasn't a fit. It wasn't it, it was probably me, she half-joked. Olivia had wanted more from a school. More adventures and everything.
Olivia's smile grew more as she watched Ace laugh. She laughed too at the situation (it was too funny not to), imagining Ace walking up to an officer and saying that. Oh Merlin. She could even imagine him saying it to an officer for some reason. And then she could imagine Matt Solo of all people going to bail his mate out.
She noticed him stumble a little at her question. Hmm.. That seemed to be a very tough question. It did appear that his father had set very high standards. She hoped that Ace didn't feel like he had to follow or best his father in any case because she thought that he was truly someone amazing regardless if he was Prefect or whether he would be Head Boy. They all had to make their own paths in life. That's what she had to keep on telling herself because of her brother Simon being so academically gifted. Olivia wasn't a bad student but she was not her brother who would spend hours perfecting his homework. She used to feel insignificant because of it but she had been working and learning how to be alright with being different from her brother. It was better for her. "I see.. That's fair," she said, noting the radiant smile of Ace had appeared. She returned his smile but wold keep her thoughts on that for later. It seemed like Ace had a pretty good handle on the whole situation.
Olivia laughed, brushing a strand of wavy hair behind her ear, as Ace declared that her brother wasn't "so bad". No. Her brother was wonderful. At the mention of the journal, she wondered if she had it in her bag. She reached into her small brown bag and... YES! She did have it. Olivia pulled out a small leather bound journal from her bag. There it was. "I've got a lot of stories but more to come for sure. Have to save room for more of the fun waiting to happen," she explained, tapping the cover of the journal.
She nodded. Olivia had been seven. Eight years ago since everything had changed. "Yeah..." she said as her smile dropped a little. She was remembering the last day she saw her mother. Simon had come to get her. He had walked her to the plane. Held her hand every step of the way. She closed her eyes momentarily. No she couldn't think about it. Not now. It had almost been a year. Olivia opened her eyes and at his question was more than happy to answer. "My dad's parents. They're good people and I love them. They're a little quirky at times and have plenty of stories to tell. My grandmother is French. My grandfather is Texan. He's very particular about being Texan, not American." She chuckled. Her grandfather was Texan and proud.
As he spoke all secretively, Olivia couldn't help but laugh and lean in a little more. "Oh no! That would be horrible if they overheard. Perhaps we should have this conversation somewhere else where their car cannot get too? I'm thinking the sooner we get off the grounds, the less likely we'll get run over. Maybe the Astronomy tower?" she whispered back with a smirk. She paused, listening to him speak about his true opinion on them. LOUD but fun. She smiled again. Oh yes, she could imagine Ace being just as loud as them. "Would you also dance on the table?" she asked a teasing grin. She could see it now. Gryffindor table dance off. She could commentate- she would not participate. You would certainly have to bribe Olivia Alice Holden to dance on the table. Mhmm..
A little push? She noted the nudge of the shoulder, Mr Salander. Mhmm... "A little push, you say?" she repeated and then smiled a little more. She could use some help with that. Olivia hummed along to a song (Shape of You) softly. She stopped. "Maybe. I don't know how." She chuckled and then glanced at Ace. Huh. Maybe he'd help her out? He seemed to be confident in her ability to sing and she totally wasn't very subtly asking him out or something cause... yeah... erm... . Kill me now. "Hey Ace.... Do you think that you could help me with that?"

The way you could totally see how the walls had been built. The individual blocks of ice. It was all so impressive. Honestly, he could probably spend DAYS in here and not grow bored.
Following the other boy over to one of the sculptures, Cameron nodded slowly."Probably. Not by hand though, I think." At least not entirely. It looked waaaaaaaaay to delicate. Magic HAD to have been involved. Right? Unless the Groundskeeper was really talented. Maybe they all knew how to do things like this up where he was from. Maybe it was tradition.
Maybe he could TEACH them!!!
Slate figured that since Cameron didn't answer he also had no idea what to do with an igloo. Which was fine, they'd either figure it out together or be incredibly bored later.
He turned his attention by to the sculpture. "Yeah. That makes sense. If he had done that by hand, he'd probably make better money somewhere else." He didn't imagine gardeners made a lot of money. He was a gardener, right? Or was he called something else?
He reached out and poked the ice. "It's actually ice." In case there was a question about whether or not it was fake.

"By Newt Scamander's suitcase..." uttered Irene rather loudly as she walked over to the impressive structure. Her eyes had grown to the size of a quarter measuring cup surely as she took in this incredible sight. Wow. An igloo at Hogwarts? Strange. She blinked. But why? Why did they have an igloo? What was the purpose for it? There had to be a reason. She nearly dropped her ukelele but managed to catch it before it made a thud against the ground.
Grabbing a coat, she slipped into it and decided to head inside the igloo. She paid no attention to the students that were already there. Instead, she twirled with ukelele in hand. Everything was awesome.
She liked this place. Like A LOT.

Etta had been roaming the grounds for a little while, wanting to just take a break from studying. She was so tired and thought some fresh air would do her some good.. hopefully. After wandering about for sometime, she found herself near the famous igloo. As much as she thought how cute and lovely the igloo looked, she definitely preferred something warmer.. like the hot springs. Eh.
But now that she was here.. she gave a small shrug of the shoulders and entered inside, picking up a coat on the way and putting it on. Oh, my. It was cold. Colder than the outside weather, even. But before she could consider leaving.. she noticed one of her fellow American IMPS competitors.. twirling? With an ukulele in hand? Huh. How interesting. Maybe she could say hello? She hesitated for a moment or two before lightly tapping the other girl on her shoulder. "Hey, there."

This place was absolutely incredible. Beautiful ice walls. Woah. This place seemed as if it had walked out of a famous photography magazine that had been doing a special on an architect's igloo. Irene stopped twirling around and brought her ukulele closer to her chest. She was about to start playing an awesome song to describe all of the wondrous thoughts that she was having concerning this beautiful place when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Tap, Tap.
Huh?
Who was tapping her? Irene tapped her foot in response briefly before turning around to see one of her fellow competitors. Oh this was one of the pretty ones! Beautiful dark hair, warm eyes, and fair skin. Henrietta Kramer, right? That was the name that she had heard at the feast and had heard off several of her schoolmates' lips who fancied her. She liked the look of the girl before her. She seemed genuinely nice (like most of the Hogwartian students) and she was excited to meet a fellow competitor.
"Hello! You must be Henrietta," she said with the BIGGEST of grins. Hopefully she got that, right? She was pretty sure this girl was Henrietta. "I'm Irene. It's so great to finally meet you!"

Etta's smile grew bigger when she realised how warm and friendly this girl was.. Irene, right? Wasn't that her name? She was so pretty, too. "Hi! I'm Henrietta." She was grinning happily at this point, folding her arms across her chest. "It's great to finally to meet you, too."
She studied the other girl for a moment, her grin still in place. It was so exciting to meet people from other schools, really. They were so different that it was actually refreshing. "Are all your schoolmates as lovely as you are?" She asked with a teasing smirk, tilting her head to the side. .. also, it was so cold. She tucked her hands deep into the pockets of her coat, trying not to shiver.

"Do you think there's a lot of money in ice sculpting?" By hand? In the Muggle world maybe? Slate would know, right? It WOULD be really impressive if someone could make a sculpture like this without the help of magic of course. But would people actually PAY for that? "Or maybe he likes it here." Hogwarts was nice.
If there were no child-eating monsters on the loose that is.
Of course it was actually ice. Cameron hadn't doubted it for a second. The igloo was made out of real ice too. Nonetheless, he too reached out to touch the sculpture because that's what you did, right? He then nodded in agreement. Yes. Definitely ice. Could they move on now?
Her smile grew even bigger. Wow! Most of the Hogwartians she had met had been super nice. She liked it here. Daisy, Tenacius, and now Henrietta! "Nice to meet you, Henrietta! I'm Irene," she grinned. But Henrietta probably already knew her name because they were in the same competition. Oh well! Now they were ACTUALLY on a first name basis which was so exciting!
Henrietta's comment made Irene laugh. If only Henrietta knew the truth of the matter... Most people were friendly and then there were others that were a little bit less friendly. All nice people at heart though. She wouldn't speak badly of schoolmates to someone from Hogwarts. They didn't need to know the little details about tensions and whatnot. She assumed that Hogwarts had its own lot of problems too! "Well most of them are but we have a few that aren't very warming," she explained with a nonchalant shrug. "But I'm sure you guys also have people like that."
With eyes widening, Irene took a step towards the Hufflepuff and enthusiastically asked. "So what is Hogwarts truly like?" She wanted the inside scoop

Slate nodded. "People use them for, like, weddings." Which, people got married all the time, so it made sense. Seemed like a pretty steady source of income.
Cool. And now that they established it was ice...
He continued walking deeper into the igloo. "There's books up here." he commented. It wasn't really a statement about how they should look at the books, it was just to inform him, in case the other boy couldn't see them.

Weddings? Really? Only of the majestic creatures like Phoenixes or Unicorns though right? Like, nobody would want to have a sculpture of a Flobberworm at their wedding, right? Or at least Cameron wouldn't want that. "Are they charmed to stay that way then? At the weddings?" Because he could only assume that most weddings didn't take place inside an igloo.
The Groundskeeper's might have. Was he married?
Following his dorm mate, Cameron tried to take it ALL in. Although he would definitely have to come back some time. Surely he was missing things."Books?" Out of ice??? Oh. No. It was just regular books. No matter what Slate had INTENDED for him to do with the information Cameron was definitely checking those books out.

"I know your name, of course!" Etta grinned, really glad to meet one of her fellow American IMPS competitors. She'd wondered about them, of course.. they all seemed nice but she was curious to see how different they were. The other Americans she'd met were.. rather interesting, of course. Maddox was bit annoying at times but he was alright too, she supposed.
Did they have people like that? Etta remained quiet for a moment. "Yeah, I guess.. there are a couple of people who really aren't that great. But overall? Everyone's lovely. Friendly, warm and extremely welcoming." She replied with a wide smile. After all, she did love this school a whole lot and simply couldn't imagine being anywhere else. "Also, everyone is ridiculously good-looking around here.. so that can be a bit intimidating at times." .. as for Irene's next question, Etta's smile widened to a huge grin. How to answer that question, hmm. She bit her lip in thought.
"I think Hogwarts is truly wonderful. The castle, the grounds, professors, classes and like I mentioned earlier, the people. Everything is fantastic, you know. I love being here every second of every day." Etta couldn't help but smirk, raising her eyebrows slightly. "Now that I've answered your question, why don't you tell me about your school? What's it like there?"

Irene smiled. Just as she thought. The majority were friendly, welcoming, and warm people. She loved the sound of that. Illvermorny and Hogwart's students sounded quite similar in that respect. To Henrietta's comment about good looking, Irene laughed. "I know! It's unfair! I think what makes everyone more attractive here is there accents are chaaarming." And with that, she winked at Henrietta. "The Professors are super attractive. What's up with that?" Seriously. Was there the fountain of good looks somewhere around here and could someone hook her up?
Henrietta did really seem to like being here. Irene could tell that from the way the girl spoke about Hogwarts. She could see and feel the enthusiasm and love for her school. "That's wonderful. I can really tell that its a special place. I really like it here too. I've spent hours exploring the castle." She had to go to every place where Hermione Granger and Newt Scamander had stood. Well every place but the common room and dormitories because showing up randomly in there without permission would be rather rude. What was Illvermorny like? "It's beautiful. We're a little bit louder than you guys. It's a castle like this but not everything is trying to kill you there," she teased. Irene had learned of Hogwarts' reputation for danger. It kind of was rather thrilling. "The people are friendly and the Professors are awesome. I love Professor Williams. She's amazing." She had been Valerie's role model since day one at Illvermorny. The witch was incredible and strong and flawless. It was really unfair. "You should come visit! I'd be more than happy to show you around."

Accents? Really? Etta hadn't ever thought about that. Uh. She shook her head with a grin, tucking a few stray stands of hair behind her ears. "But.. you guys seem to have the cool accents. I like it. It's so.. different! There are some pretty nice-looking guys around here, you know.. almost as nice-looking as the American boys." One boy more than the others.. HER boy. Ahem. Wait, what? Did Irene just say 'professors'? Etta stared at her in wonder for a moment. "I.. have never thought of them that way." It was weird, yeah? There were her professors, after all. How could think of them.. like that? Yeah, no. "Do you mean anyone in particular?"
"The castle is the best part." Etta replied with a smile. "It's so magnificent.. and magical." Yes, she definitely admired her school and everything it stood for. Yeah, well. There were certain.. um.. weird things that happened every term somehow and the professors couldn't seem to stop them from happening but overall? It definitely was a great school. It had produced people like Hermione Granger, after all. Plus.. this school and its reputation was definitely going to help her with career opportunities which was an added benefit, obviously. She listened quietly as Irene spoke about her school. Loud? Yeah.. Etta still remembered how the Americans were dancing and singing in the great hall on the day they'd arrived.. so very loud. But, not all of them seemed to be anything like that.. which was a relief. "Professor Williams? What's special about her?" WHAT? Did Irene just ask her to visit?! Etta looked at her in disbelief. "Really?!" She beamed excitedly, the biggest grin on her face. "That would be so great! I'd love it!"

Maybe they should ask a wedding expert? He didn't really think it was that important of a question though.
He looked over Cameron's shoulder as he looked at a book. "Tracking? Is there a moose in this igloo or something?" Moose tracks were a thing, right? Not just an ice cream flavor.

Irene smiled. Almost as nice looking as some of the American boys? She giggled. The Hogwarts guys were very cute and so were her schoolmates. She supposed that everyone thought the other school had more attractive people. Kind of the grass is greener on the other side mentality, huh? WHAT. Etta had never thought of the Professors in that way. Seriously. Where was this girl's head?!? Sure the boys were cute but they were... boys. "Your Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor is cute for instance." She was certain that she had overheard some people (both Hogwarts and Illvermorny) gushing over him. Hehe. "But way too old." Still they could appreciate the attractiveness of the Professors, right?
She nodded several times when Etta said that the castle was the best part. YES. YES IT WAS THE BEST PART. There were so many different secret places to go and explore. It was amazing. Irene had really enjoyed spending most of her time exploring when she hadn't been preparing for the next challenge or in classes.
What was special about Professor Williams? "She's our History of Magic Professor. We have two Professor Williams. The other is our Potions Master. He is also quite brilliant. I'm talking about Melanie Williams in particular. Strong, fierce, intelligent, beautiful, respected - she's everything that I aspire to be one day." Sometimes Irene felt as if she wasn't respected due to her super bubbly personality. People tended to label her as a socialite without any proper means of intelligence or potential but she was determined to prove them wrong. She had always been.
At the mention of Etta coming to visit which was a much happier topic, Irene BEAMED. "Hooray!" She wasn't sure if it was possible but it was still, nevertheless, exciting. "I'm excited. I'm sure you would love it. It's a lot different from here."
Slate shrugged. "I don't know. I've never been to a magic wedding before." He then took a long pause. "Actually. I haven't been to any wedding before."

He hadn't been to a wedding before? Really? "I'm invited to Oliver Greenwood's wedding!" ...reception. But seriously, that was the cool part of a wedding wasn't it? He didn't much care about the ceremony anyway. But seriously, wasn't that EXCITING?!?!?!?!?!?!?
....Slate knew who that was right?
A moose? Why would there be a moose in here? WAS THERE? Cameron looked up from the book, eyes scanning their immediate vicinity, almost expecting a large moose to stare at them. Which it didn't. There wasn't a moose in here, right? "I think it's just for information, you know. In case you ever need to track something." Or maybe there'd be a challenge later? Was that it?

Slate had a feeling that was somebody important by the way his name was enunciated but... "Which is... who exactly?" he asked. He was probably going to offend his dormmate, but it really couldn't be helped. He didn't really have a choice.
Slate nodded slowly. "Why would we need to track a moose though? If they weren't planning on giving us a moose to follow?" Come on Cameron. This was school. They only taught you relevant things.
He wasn't sure whether or not to be disappointed or surprised or just plain weirded out by the possible relevance of moose tracking.

Her professors were OLD, okay and she really couldn't, wouldn't ever think any of them were attractive. Yes.. some of them might be very young but they were still way older and just.. ugh, nope. NOPE. She raised an eyebrow when Irene mentioned Professor Hirsch being cute. She gave it some thought.. was he actually cute? Etta had never noticed and she didn't want to either. This conversation was rather unsettling. "Yeah, definitely. What about your professors over there? Are they quite young too? What are they like?"
She listened quietly as her new American talked about Professor Williams.. who seemed like a very interesting person, from what Irene was saying anyway. Etta must have seen her around but not recognised her. She smiled and gave an understanding nod. "That's how I feel about most of my professors.. especially our Headmistress. She's so fierce and powerful, very respected, a little scary, beautiful.. I wish I turn out to be something like that one day." Etta hoped, at least. She was crossing her fingers. She was a little surprised at how well they were getting along already but was very glad too, of course. She enjoyed making new friends and Irene seemed like an extremely fun person.
"I'm already looking forward to it." Etta said, still grinning happily. The possibility of visiting another school? Wouldn't that be the most amazing thing ever? "But you should make sure I can visit first. She didn't want to get her hopes up.
Well it was already cold and Théo thought why not and go to the igloo. He had nothing better to do. Which was a total lie since he had mountains of homework to do but that could always be done later like usual.
Ok what could you even do in this igloo without Mr. Groundskeeper Flying Professor getting mad at you. That was the real question.
There were some cool statues in here.

Determinedly, the Slytherin pulled out her wand and cast a glance about before waving it to cast a simple hot air charm. She aimed it to the wall right above the boy's tongue so that she didn't singe him on top of being frozen. The wall melted just a little bit and Xavvie moved her wand away quickly, not wanting to keep it aimed at the delicate ice for too long. She might've been a little willing to bend the rules for her friend, but she wasn't interested in accidentally melting down the whole place.
Or getting detention.
"Better?" She asked, hoping that the wall had melted enough to get his tongue out.
He was pretty sure he could no longer even FEEL his tongue...so maybe he should just rip it off like a band aide at this point? Only Xavvie was actually performing a hot air charm, which he was actually kinda jealous about, and his eyes widened while he waited. He could feel some water trickle down over his tongue which did NOT taste all that great for anyone who wanted to know, but he could also feel things loosening up around his tongue a little. It was kinda like when you gently pulled a starfish off a rock and you watched all its legs slooooowly let go. Yeah, that kind of feeling.
Better? He...nodded and then cleared his throat to try and pull himself off properly. It wasn't perfect and he could taste the familiar flavor of copper in his mouth, but he WAS free. "'anks-s," he mumbled, ruffling his blonde hair a bunch with his hands. "I ow uo on!"
It was hard to talk with a slightly numb AND hurt tongue, okay?

"Older than here." And not as hot. The Professors were older. Less of the hot model and more so of the Aunt and Uncle type. Though that wasn't including the Williams but Irene would never think of the Williams twins as HOT. They were incredible but she didn't find either one attractive. They were incredible and demanded and deserved respect. Same with their Headmistress who was literally the bomb.com! Seriously that woman was awesome. "They're incredible role models," she nodded.
Headmistress Hawthorne was a goddess. Hogwarts was very lucky to have her. "You are all very fortunate to have her. I couldnt agree more with your description. She is an amazing person." Irene had always thought Hawthorne was something of an enigma. She had always desired to know more about her but the woman had switched schools so she was unable to learn more. Such a pity. "I understand and I can see you growing into such a person. Maybe someone even better than Hawthorne. I see that in you, Henrietta Kramer," she said. Irene could feel it. Henrietta was destined for something great whether it be this competition or something else.
"Of course!! I'll look into it straight away. It'd be sad if you couldn't visit, said Irene with a frown. Though there were always secret ways of getting someone into the school. She could work out a deal with someone to get Henrietta in. Hehe. It'd be A OKAY! Smile.

He grinned broadly as Olivia delivered one of the most famous lines in the history of ever. Color him impressed eh? Two Gryffindors bonding over Shakespeare. Who wudathunkit eh?
But oh look at her laugh. Quite worth making a fool of himself for sure, hearing such levity from one so lovely. AND she has a comeback herself. "Good one!" he laughed at embrACE. Heck he should use that word himself more often. "Vi Holden-- sorry it just occurred to me and all that, your stories about your name, I thought it was a nice fit. BUT if you just wanna stick with Ols or Ollie I'm fine with that too. Pause "Maybe it would be my secret nickname for you eh?" Or maybe not if she hates it. Better tell him now before it becomes a habit.
He looked at her curiously as she gave her perspective as a transferee "So its like a.... step up then from Beauxbaton, since you want a more dynamic life. See that's what I try to tell my cousin-- tell anybody-- about Hogwarts being a death trap of some sort." he scoffed. And as he looked at her journal he grinned "One thing's for sure, Hogwartian journals are the stuff of epic novels."
He had to laugh heartily about her grandpa being very Texan. "Yes I know exactly what you mean. And with good reason." its not some trivial thing when they say dont mess with Texas.
Is he the sort that would dance on tables? "Probably.... yeah." he laughed "Not sure if I'll be the first one to get on it though. Specially not when theres food there. Food is sacred!"
He listened to her hum. She's a natural he could sense it, she just needed encouraging. "I'll help you with any musical interest you wanna explore. Creative interest. Any interest." beams. And he offered his elbow. Time to explore other places yeah?

Olivia glanced down at her feet momentarily before her eyes flicked back to his. Vi Holden. She liked the way he said it a lot more than she should say. “Oh, no, no. No, I love it, Ace. I really do. It makes me feel like I’m a spy. Perhaps a secret alias to protect my real identity." Olivia was really getting into the whole concept now. Too much fun. She winked at him. "Holden… Vi Holden,” she mused with a wide grin. When he suggested that it would be his secret nickname for her, she smiled a little more. “I’d lo-like that.” She’d like that very much.
She nodded. “It is a step up from Beauxbatons. Or at least… I view it that way.” Olivia flashed him a happy grin. “Well if I hadn’t come here… I wouldn’t have met Etta, Noelle, Mel, Jace, or… Or you. That would have been super sad.” Life would have been different without those guys in her life. Merlin. Life would have been so boring. Here at Hogwarts, Olivia had finally found her people. “It’s a nice death trap. Merlin, we should really advertise that, huh?” teased Olivia. They could get shirts or something. It’d be great. Then she glanced down at her journal. “Oh I have many stories in here but hopefully more are to come.” She even had their first meeting all the way back in Diagon Alley. She had just been a girl flipping a coin and trying to make decision and he had called out a wager. Yep. That was how she meet the guy standing next to her at this moment and she was very happy that they had met.
“Food is sacred.” She nodded. Olivia was not one to disagree there. Her older brother had taught her to appreciate food. Merlin. He was a fantastic cook and had even started to teach Olivia his ways before she had returned to Hogwarts. Dessert was the best, of course.
At his comment at helping her with any musical interest that she wanted to explore, she grinned. And then he said creative interest and then finally followed it up with any interest. That was super generous. And then she smirked as another thought went through her mind. Well wasn’t he eager? Smirk turned to smile once more as she felt incredibly happy about his offer. “Anything?” she repeated before smirking at Ace. “Are you certain about any interest, Mr Salander?” Olivia glanced at him once more with a happy smile before noticing that he had offered her his elbow. Without a further thought, she linked arms with him, feeling incredibly special. The two would be exploring this awesome structure together. Merlin help her because she really liked him and that scared her.
Henry had made sure to check out the igloo on the grounds right at the beginning of the school year. He was outside as much as possible anyway, plus it was something that naturally caught his attention being large and new. And it just seemed so interesting that it was warm out yet there was a dwelling built of ice and snow just sitting there.
But it was cold and snowy out now that it was February and the igloo seemed a little more commonplace. Still very cool though, but he hadn't been to see it in a little while. So one day while he was out strolling the grounds and thinking about visiting his granian, Henry started to walk past the igloo and decided to venture in for a little while.
It was pretty empty and he supposed that had to do with the current inclement weather. But he didn't mind it and he walked in further, moving slowly around the ice sculptures as he looked at them. He finally took a seat on the couch in the middle of the dwelling and thought for a moment how this would be a cool place to study or do homework. As long as there weren't a ton of people coming in and out. Eh, maybe it'd just be a better place to hang out in.
