Behind the Groundskeeper's Hut, right at the edge of the Forbidden Forest towers an igloo. A spell keeps it from melting during the warmer seasons and despite some protest from the Groundkeeper’s side, the students are welcome to enter. This is where Mr. Baldvinsson likes to retreat when the Scottish summer gets too warm or when he needs to reminisce of his many years as a ranger on Svalbard.
Since the Igloo is completely made of ice, inside and out, you’ll notice it’s a clever idea to borrow one of the fur coats provided by Mr. Baldvinsson. Please leave the coat (undamaged, thank you) by the entrance for the next student to use.
Inside the Igloo are several ice statues in the shape of both magical and non-magical creatures that Mr. Baldvinsson found an interest in back home. A large sofa with a warming fur throw is located at one side of the room where you may take a seat and flip through one of the books on how to lure a polar bear, using snow patterns to track down a wolf pack or the quickest way to locate a hot spring. In the evening, a beautiful display of the northern lights is shown with green and blue lights dancing across the icy ceiling.
Any use of heatening charms such as Chaudensis or any fire spells are strictly forbidden, for obvious reasons. Please make sure to leave the Igloo as you found it and don’t let the northern lights make you forget the time for curfew. Mmhm.
Cameron had pretty much stumbled across the igloo during a casual stroll of the Hogwarts grounds. That looked cool. The new Groundskeeper surely loved the cold (did he know that Scotland during winter was ALREADY pretty cold anyway?). But then again, his name suggested he wasn't from around here but rather from somewhere waaaaaaay more north than Scotland.
So this was probably warm for him. Hence the igloo.
Taking in the enormous ice building, Cameron stood outside still, not quite ready to go inside yet. Not until he'd taken a closer look and had taken it all in. This did look very very VERY interesting though. And very intriguing. Those coats looked cool too. Okay. He was totally doing this.

I mean, I hate that you lost the points and all, but everybody's got to have a little fun every now and then," he said. Even he had been seeking out an opportunity to do at least one really wild and exciting thing during his time here. "So wait. Does this mean you think the Healer's hot?"
Hmm, perhaps they should suggest to the groundskeeper to teach them how to make the sculptures? Unless of course he didn't make them, which would have been totally strange, but maybe he could provide them with some sort of guidance regardless.
Glancing up over knees at Brent, Sky blinked as his facial expression changed, except it wasn't really one of disappointment. He didn't hate her. He actually seemed to be impressed with her little stunt, envious almost!? And she guessed, despite her lapse in logic, it was kind of fun bending the rules a little. For a little harmless fun, as Brent put it. But then he just HAD to ask that one question, the one that, she really didn't want to think about, because she honestly had no idea.
"Uh... Yes? No... Yes? I don't know," she glanced over at him, and then her gaze fell back to her knees. "I mean, I think he's cute alright, but he's my teacher." That would be weird; though he wasn't her teacher, he did teach seminars, so it kind of made it so? "Besides, I think theremightbesomeoneelseclosetomyagewho'sjustascute ." She kind of mumbled the last bit, so it was barely audible, but Brent was sitting close enough that he might have been able to pick up some of it.

Dora should be glad she wasn't skipping, really. Because Sam was feeling super energetic today, despite finishing up her history of magic essay far too late the previous evening. Probably just the relief of having finished the thing.
Magic. Of course it was. "But I can barely sustain a charm for a lesson. How much energy and focus must it take to keep this thing cool enough?"
"Well I'm sure once you become a fully powerful adult witch that you'll be able to perform long sustained charms and such, " Dor said with a small chuckle. Because like... Sam was going to be a super talented witch. Not that she wasn't already. Mhm.
"We have to get a coat... I wonder if they've been cleaned? Because some of our classmates aren't the most hygenic, " she muttered as they moved closer.

Kimi looked at the girl and said "Sorry at least you didn't punch me, My name's Kimi" Kimi held his hand out for the girl to shake and he still thought that the igloo was so cool looking

"Just don't scare me again..." she warned him. "Hey Kimi.." she greeted with a small nod. She saw him looking at the Igloo and asked, "So I'm guessing you have been in here before since I assume you're older than I am..?" Pretty easy assumption.

Good idea Sam had, though. With a nod the blonde began to dig through the fur coats until she got to the last one. VERY LAST ONE. No need in putting something on her body that someone else had used. Hmph.

She nodded and continued staring at the beautiful ice carvings on the igloo. "Yeah, it is. It's lovely. I wonder how authentic it is though," she said with a small smile before realizing that there was a person standing very, very, very, very, very (did I say very?) close to her. Perhaps TOO close. Olivia's heart raced. She turned around a bit too quickly (and almost lost her balance and nearly fell) fully prepared to tell the person off when... She saw Ace? Half-scared and half-happy to see him, she didn't know how to react other than to smile relieved.
"Tenacius" she began before quietly adding, "I-don't-know-your-middle-name" and then bringing the volume back up for, "Salander, you nearly scared me!" she cried and then gently poked him in the side. Olivia took a step breath to catch her breath before she started laughing. "How long had you been standing there for?"

As he began slipping the coat on he wondered "Have you seen something like this before?"

Cameron nodded, even though he was pretty sure Slate wasn't actually expecting an answer. Igloos were a universal thing after all. Not just magical. So even Slate would know what it was. "It's pretty cool, isn't it?" He took a small step closer, still eying the entrance.
How cold was it going to be inside?
Judging by the coats that had been provided the answer was probably VERY.
"We should go in." He decided. Yes. Slate was coming.

Olivia grinned, feeling herself grin a little more than usual. Stop grinning so much, Olivia, she told herself. Seeming too happy was.... erm. Never mind. She was glad that it was a little colder here so pink cheeks could be mistaken for the cold.
She brought her arms closer to her. Chilly. Nevertheless, she continued to smile as she always enjoyed seeing Ace. He was always fun to be with. Happy and upbeat and usually up for fun! "Ha, that's okay," she said with a chuckle. Curious about his middle name, she asked, "What is your middle name? Or is that top secret?" Olivia was about to speak again when he reassured her that he had just got here. Oh good. So she hadn't been super oblivious to everything around her. Nodding to his comment about the coat, she watched him as he began slipping on his coat.
Then she turned back to face the igloo momentarily, gazing at its magnificence briefly. Then she heard his question and turned to face Ace. She shook her head, "I've never seen anything like this. I've always dreamed of making an igloo. It seemed fun but i never had the chance asI didn't see snow until I was eleven and started at Beauxbatons. We don't have snow in Melbourne," she said, hugging her arms closer to her. "Have you seen something like this? Want to go inside?"

Brent gave a light laugh when it become obvious that his answer had surprised her. He was a teenage boy. Of course he thought a little mild mischief was funny. He could tell it kind of bothered her, though, so he decided to put aside his thoughts of how much fun she must have had and instead just listened to her. Wasn't that what good guys did when it came to girls? He could be a good listener.
There were some professors he thought looked good for their age, but he knew what she meant about the whole teacher thing. But then she said something else, and he just totally didn't hear any of that. He laughed again. "Skylar. I just heard maybe...two words you just said," he told her. "That would be...age and cute." Sounded like this conversation was about to get good!
He gave her a mischievous grin. "So who's cute?" he asked. "The kid your age. Not the Healer dude." Also, he might have completely misread some of her signals, because he kind of got the impression she might like him just a little.

Skylar was getting these strange tummy flips and Brent's little laugh wasn't helping things. Perhaps she should close her eyes for a moment, except, she'd know he was still there. He wasn't sitting all too far away and he smelled way too good right now, even beneath their fur coats.
Her breath did slow down though when Brent caught her off guard with saying he only heard two words she had uttered; what HAD she said? What had he asked? Oh for the love of Merlin, she was losing her mind. Age. Cute. Who was cute? Her cheeks must have looked flushed by now. This was not the kind of conversation she had intended to have with Brent Westwood. This was a conversation for Junia or Hattie or Noelle ... anyone but him. And she couldn't exactly get out of it now, because if she said 'noone' he would know she was lying. But then she couldn't say 'you', because the words just wouldn't escape her lips right about now.
Perhaps she should just leave, without saying anything, but no, that would be a DEAD giveaway.
She could lie and pick a different name. Yes, yes, that would be perfect.
"Oh, lots of boys ..." Did he want names? This was going to get awkward. "Henry, Oliver, Declan, Levi..." And Skylar did what she did best, she averted her eyes away from Brent. Could she leave now? Yes? Maybe she should flip-flop the table around. "What about you? Any pretty girls strike your fancy?" Yes, girls, which would leave out their female professors, since they were not technically girls.

Smiling again, Kay nodded. She wasn't going to badger Mason to seek her help. She knew that if it was needed, he'd ask. "Chaotic and rather scary,'' she admitted in relation to the events of the previous term. "It's rather sad but the most important thing is that we eventually got rid of that monster.'' She shivered and this had nothing to do with the cold.
Kay listened with interest. "I think you adjusted well.'' She knew it would have been a big change but she did mean what she just said. "Oh, well their lifestyles certainly are different. I know for certain that we'll have to be mindful of some of the names we use to refer to something. For example, they say fries while we say chips. They say sweater, we say jumper.
"Very obvious.'' Kay winked. "All will be revealed soon. I have a feeling that everyone is going to enjoy the challenges and interacting with the Americans. We need to show them our British hospitality is the best, after all.''

This was not the kind of conversation she had intended to have with Brent Westwood. This was a conversation for Junia or Hattie or Noelle ... anyone but him. And she couldn't exactly get out of it now, because if she said 'noone' he would know she was lying. But then she couldn't say 'you', because the words just wouldn't escape her lips right about now.
Perhaps she should just leave, without saying anything, but no, that would be a DEAD giveaway.
She could lie and pick a different name. Yes, yes, that would be perfect.
"Oh, lots of boys ..." Did he want names? This was going to get awkward. "Henry, Oliver, Declan, Levi..." And Skylar did what she did best, she averted her eyes away from Brent. Could she leave now? Yes? Maybe she should flip-flop the table around. "What about you? Any pretty girls strike your fancy?" Yes, girls, which would leave out their female professors, since they were not technically girls.
Brent was pretty proud of himself. He was being pretty cool about this whole thing, in his opinion. When he'd dated Madelyn, he'd just been a little kid---twelve and then thirteen. Both of them had been pretty awkward at that age. But now, at age fifteen, he was much more aware of everything around him. There was a moment of silence, so he just sat there and pretended to admire the ice statues some more.
Finally, she broke the silence. Lots of boys? Henry, Oliver, Declan, and Levi? Something unexpected happened after that. He felt his heart drop. He hadn't realized that he had been hoping she would list him in that line-up. She hadn't. "Oh, umm," he mumbled, and then he fumbled in his mind over how to answer her question. "Well, there was this girl at Ilvermorny. Madelyn Cunningham. She was pretty hot." He hadn't thought about her in almost a whole year, but there she was, creeping back into his conversations.
He didn't know what to say then. Skylar wasn't Miss Sarcastic anymore, because they'd moved past that point. She didn't have a thing for him, so they weren't at that point either. Now to try and initiate a friendship. "So, this fur coat is starting to bother me. I think I'll have to catch the igloo later," he said. He stood up and started to take off the coat and return it to where he'd found it.

This quiet thing was weird, and honestly, there was really only one thing on Skylar's mind. Except she wasn't sure how he felt about her, which was kind of why she didn't initiate in listing him. Besides, he probably thought of her as too young, even though she was only a year younger.
Oh. She blinked when he mentioned a girl from Ilvermorny, but yet no one from Hogwarts, which was kind of strange. He'd been, what, a third year, when he was at Ilvermorny, and found this Madelyn girl to be hot, but now as a fifth year, he didn't like anyone? She should have known this was too good to be true. They were just friends, who teased and were sarcastic with one another. Class partners, but that was it, wasn't it? Apparently that was where the line drew. "Oh." She said, kind of in a disappointed tone, unsure what to say then. He didn't think she was 'hot' or 'cute' or 'pretty'.
"I was actually thinking it was getting kind of stuffy in here myself, weirdly enough." That and she was feeling kind of warm from these sad thoughts of rejection. Of course technically she rejected him by not listing him, when she totally wanted to list him first. Following his lead, she slipped out of the coat as she considered adding on an addendum to the list. Just say it, Skylar thought fervently.
"Wait!" she said with a certain aplomb as she was about to exit the igloo. "There's someone else on my list." She bit her lip anxiously, before she extended her arms up to his shoulders and stood on her tip toes to give him a small peck on the cheek.

"A lot can change in two years, Sam." And Dora would know... so much had changed for her in so few years. So. Much. But she wasn't going to dwell on that right now. Instead she found herself smiling as they approached the place to take coats.
Good idea Sam had, though. With a nod the blonde began to dig through the fur coats until she got to the last one. VERY LAST ONE. No need in putting something on her body that someone else had used. Hmph.
"So. What now? We just go in aND have a look see? "
She wasn't surprised that Dora took on board her idea, but was surprised that her bestie went through ALL the coats to find the very. last. one. Maybe next time she should just suggest a cleaning spell to save them some time?
"How am I s'pposed to know? Ain't seen one before, not alone been in one." She pulled her jacket closer round her as she stepped into the domed area, as the cool air took her by surprise. "D'ya think we're just meant to sit?" Maybe she should have stopped off on the way for cookies and milk.

Eyes widening eagerly as he tried to turn his head towards the sound of approaching footsteps - which was a BAD idea, for the record - the Hufflepuff was incredibly relieved to see Xavvie approaching and, while he did not know her all THAT well yet, he was confident that she could save help him.
.......until she said THAT.
"AT ILL URT!" he protested with some subtle arm flailing as his eyes glanced towards the wand in her pocket.

"Yeah. Okay." he agreed. He was willing to suffer the cold. Plus, you couldn't really see a random igloo and not go in. It was against science, he was pretty sure. He'd have to ask Jessa just to confirm that.
And with that, he started toward the entrance, grabbing a coat along the way.

So, this igloo thing. Noelle wanted to try it out.
And seeing as she hadn't seen Hattie lately, Noelle sent her a birdie to meet her here. They could hang out and talk inside the igloo. It was weird.. having an igloo on the grounds. Not to mention it wasn't cold enough to snow yet, so this masterpiece was just sitting out on the grounds.
Noelle crawled her way inside and took a look around.
Now to wait for Hattie.

Xavvie adopted a rather serious expression as she pondered the problem they seemed to have here. "I don't think I'm allowed to melt the ice...." Although that seemed to be a good way to help get his tongue unstuck. That would also include using some kind of hot air charm too, wouldn't it? Xavvie glanced around and looked towards the hot spring, "I could bring some warm water over and pour it over your tongue!"
