This is the sole part of the Castle where Muggle technology can work. Professor Stewart has done her best to incorporate as many fun things in this room as possible for the students and Professors alike to spend their free time. Like the waiting room to her office, these walls are plastered with posters. There are also a few up-to-date computers. Feel free to play games or practice your typing.
There are Ipods with earbuds in various colours. Each Ipod is loaded with a particular genre of music inclusive of rock, pop, Spanish, Italian, Bollywood- pretty much whatever type of music there is. They are labeled to specify the music they contain. In the middle of the room sat arcade game machines. If you don’t fancy playing on the machines, there are gaming consoles that can be hooked up to the televisions. There is a wide selection of DVDs if you fancy a movie or TV series.
HAVE FUN, KIDDOS! Remember not to take any of the items from this room! Professor Stewart WILL know One more thing: Absolutely NO foods or liquids are allowed in this room!
The Muggle Fun Room was exactly that - fun. But it was something that Henry sometimes forgot about. He did spend a good deal of his time outdoors and being active, when he wasn't in class or patrolling corridors, that is. But on one cold and rainy afternoon, he happened to remember that room existed and decided to hang out there for a little bit while he procrastinated a very boring essay he needed to write.
Henry was fairly accustomed to video games as he had some at home as well as played them with his muggle cousins during summer. Or at least he used to. He didn't so much anymore as he got older. But it was something he still enjoyed sometimes and that was what he planned to do today. Heading over to one of the gaming consoles, the sixteen year old looked through the selection of games for one to play.

She'd grown restless. Jessa had plans to head down to the lake today but the sky had had a different idea since the moment she rolled out of bed this morning. At first she thought it would clear up by the time she'd had lunch but it was already an hour after her second meal of the day and the rain wasn't letting up.
The corridors were colder in the parts that had open structures for windows . The floors along those sections had little puddles she hopped into as she made her way about the castle. With her shoes impervius-ed, she didn't mind making a splash.
Lower and lower she descended in the castle, bundled up in her favourite hoodie that she'd additionally placed a warming charm on. It wasn't cold enough to stay locked up in her Common Room but the mist that had come with the rain was really working to earn its keep. She could hardly make anything out beyond a few yards out there.
When she hit the first floor, Jessa ducked into the fun room at the last minute. She'd heard talk of it but had never actually found the time. Rainy days had a way of fixing that. "Any two player ones?" She asked, coming up to a stop by the Hufflepuff Prefect. Hi Henry. "Rain busted your plans too?"

Henry was actually surprised that more people weren't using the fun room today. Sure, he wouldn't expect many to be in here on a nice day, but considering it was a rainy day.... well, maybe people were off doing something boring like studying. He, of course, had his own homework to do, but it wouldn't hurt to play a few games first, right?
Before he actually made a selection though, he turned as he heard a voice. "Oh, hi," he smiled, recognizing the girl from around the castle, but not really sure of her name as she was at least a couple years younger and not in his house. "Yeah, there's a few in here, I think. A racing one, and.." He dug through the box some more. "This looks like a paintball war," he chuckled as he pulled that one out as well. "Any of those look good to you?" Because he was definitely up for a two player game! It was a lot more fun that way.
"Yeah," he admitted with a nod. "I don't mind the rain sometimes, but I just wasn't feeling it today." Maybe it was mixed with the cold, but it was just dreary. "It's okay though. I kind of forgot this place existed."

Jessa wasn't terribly talented with video games. There wasn't one at her father's and the one at her mum's belonged to her step-sister who'd never let her even breathe too close to the controllers. Of course she wasn't entirely clueless, as Kalie would sometimes allow her to stand by the doorway and watch if she was quiet enough. In all that time, she'd seen a few games being played and had some idea of the ones she felt she might have liked. "The racing one!" Yes, that one. "But maybe we can have a real paintball war sometime. D'you think the Professors would let us? We could have it out on the grounds." With autumn coming into full swing they'd have to wait a while for the grounds to warm up again but it'd be worth it. 'Sides, when the snow started falling it'd be darn near impossible to camouflage.
"I think the rain's nice but it does make the Common Room a lot more crowded than I'm used to." Even most Ravenclaws could be seen outside their Common Room on a fair day making the rainy day influx quite noticeable.
Jessa took a seat on one of the plushy bean bags that sat before the television, belatedly turning to face the older boy again. "Do you know how to play it? And to make it work?" She was all for pushing buttons until something happened but couldn't help thinking it'd go a lot faster and they could get to playing sooner if he did.

The racing one? Henry grinned as he put the other one back and went to get the racing game set up. "Good choice! This one is a lot of fun." He had played that particular one before, but not the paintball game, so he knew it already to be fun. He was just willing to let her decide, if she wanted.
A real paintball war would be even better. Why hadn't he thought of doing that? "Oh, that sounds awesome! Yeah, I think we should definitely do that sometime. Maybe when it's not raining." Of course, the rain might help wash the paint away. "I don't see why not. We had one in History of Magic a few years ago." Back when he was a first year. Was that the last time he had participated in a paintball fight? At least a magical one.
Once he had the game set up, Henry took a seat in one of the beanbag chairs next to the Ravenclaw, slouching down into its squishiness. "Yeah, I actually have this one at home." He wasn't planning on using that to his advantage or anything, but something told him that she wouldn't appreciated if he went easy on her either. "So, you hold the controller sideways like this, and it's motion-controlled, so you just turn it in the direction you want to steer. Then you hold down this button to go and accelerate, and this button is for using special items that you can collect as you drive." He demonstrated those few things to her. "We need to pick a character and a car first though."

"It looks like a lot of fun." She agreed, still turning over her controller in her hands. It also looked the least complicated but she wasn't sure she'd be willing to admit that. Boys tended to be experts at video games and they didn't always like to hang with girls that knew hardly anything.
As for the paintball war, not even gonna lie, she was excited to know someone else thought it was a good idea. "Maybe out in the courtyard, or the forest by the Groundskeeper's hut for extra cover!" They would have to get the Groundskeeper's permission for either location but wouldn't he be happy to know the students were out and about being active??? Also, "Really???? Did you??? What Professor had that been?? What was the lesson??" It must have been spectacular. Jessa hated History of Magic for how theoretical it tended to be but any topic that allowed for a paintball war would definitely have been welcomed.
The more Henry explained the controls was the more she felt like this wouldn't be so hard. Motion controlled? Move it in the direction she wanted? She could do that!! "What will I do with the special items after I've collected them?" And what sort of items were there? Gosh there were just so many questions. "I want a super fast car." Naturally. "Which ones would you recommend?" He had this game at home, that meant he probably knew ALL the best ones. Not for a second did she think he might be a little reluctant given she was his competition. It just wasn't the way her brain worked.

Oh, it definitely was a lot of fun and Henry nodded his agreement as he watched Jessa check out the controller. "Yeah, it's one of my favorites. Or it used to be when I was younger. I haven't played it in a little while." But he was sure it was something that he'd pick up quickly again. It wasn't too difficult of a game.
Now that he was thinking about paintball, Henry was really excited about it. Not that it would likely happen any time soon with it getting colder outside, but he would definitely store that in his mind to pull it out as soon as possible. Why hadn't he thought of it sooner? "Yeah," he grinned. "Either of those places would be good. And I bet Mr. B wouldn't mind.. Maybe he'd even join in." Sure, he was an older guy, but anyone that was into flying and Quidditch like he was had to enjoy that kind of active fun.
He had to think a moment about which professor it had been since it was a while ago. "I want to say it was in my second year? And I'm sure it was Professor Finch." He had a few History of Magic teachers while he was at Hogwarts, but some lessons stood out more than others. "Umm... I think we were studying some battle? Then we went out on the grounds and had our paintball game." He always retained the practical stuff much better than the theoretical stuff. But that was really fun.
"Okay, well, it depends on what items you get. Some are good for you, while others are bad for your opponent." And that was him and the computer. A super fast car. Henry nodded. "Well, pick your character first." He advanced to that screen and chose the turtle for himself. "Some of the cars are faster while going straight, but the bikes are best for handling turns. It's just a matter of preference, but I can show you which ones I like best." There was a whole strategy to them really, if one wanted to deconstruct it that specifically. But that probably wasn't necessary for a first game.
