| | Potions Lesson #2- Healing potions Ciara had added as much lighting to the room. She had been working all term to brighten it up and feel more like a classroom then a dungeon prison. She had always felt that the dungeons felt more like a prison than anything. The door were open to let the students come on in.
The classroom was nice and warm this morning. Heating charms were in place and as well as a fireplace behind Professor’s Canterbury’s desk. The Professor was sitting at her desk, writing down so last minute note’s for today’s lesson. Next her desk was a chalkboard with a message: Quote:

| i refuse to quote that monstrosity Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button Why was Liv SUCH an overachiever? Like, the professors thought it was nice and everything, but Nicky was growing annoyed! And terrified! This meant he was twice as likely to blow something up! Had she NO REGARD for personal safety? Of course not. She was a bloody Gryffindor.
He side-scowled at her with narrowed eyes when she laid the 'trust me' mantra on him, moving to look at the instructions while she... gathered stuff. Merlin. They had to SQUEEZE SLUGS? HE WOULD NOT! NICHOLAS TATE WOULD NOT SACRIFICE HIS PERSONAL HYGIENE FOR SOME RIDICULOUS CLASS WHOSE OWL HE WAS GOING TO FAIL ANYWA—
Deeeep breaths. Whew. He measured out some chickweed and gathered some aloe, ignoring the... slug instruction for now. And he was going to stubbornly pretend like she wasn't brewing the second potion, because he HADN'T volunteered to help with that one. Hmph.
What? Lavender oil? "Um. No." What did that even look like?!

| Post 3: *bwahaha* Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese Oh....there it was! "Nevermind. I found it." Throwing another brilliant smile his way, the blonde went about adding the ten drops of the lavender oil... "Don't inhale this." She warned, as she purposely leaned back away from the steaming cauldron once those two things were combined. Peering over her notes, Olivia checked the next few steps, and then double checked the time remaining on the first potion. Steeping could be a lengthy process, but the best tea required it, so it was kinda...a skill of hers. She'd perfected the art of tea in her Third Year, once she'd started throwing her own tea parties... NO DISTRACTIONS, OLIVIA LYNN...
Digging into her felt case, she withdrew her silver knife and collected one of the many aloe leaves. She'd probably grabbed too many from the cupboard, but hadn't been certain on amounts. Sloppy, but she figured what wasn't used could eventually be returned for later lessons. Maybe. Ahem, slicing the leaf at the appropriate angle, she squeezed it tightly in her hand...watching as the gel within slowly drizzled down into the awaiting cauldron. Easy enough. Moments later she had the plantain leaves in much the same way, held over the awaiting potion, wand in hand. Carefully cutting them, Liv let the juices slowly drip down into the mix, not rushing it as she had with the previous ingredient....
So.... that was good for the next thirty minutes. This was actually working out wonderfully. Though, she'd missed Nicky's annoyed expressions and huffle-puffing. They had this under control!.... Finally shifting her attention back to his work, she took up the job of slug-squeezing, pushing the inners into the bowl he was working with. "Relax....I think that's ready to be added."
Ugh, Olivia was SO PROUD of her friend. Look at how well he was doing?!

| Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button The fifth year did a very good job of not inhaling (and also not doing much of anything else). Liv was... handling everything. Absolutely everything.
It was nice! Thanks, friend! Appreciated you!
Bless Merlin, she'd taken the slug-squeezing upon herself, too. Nicky added the bowl of slime from their bodies to their cauldron, then checked the instructions again. Boil... okay, had that. Nicky took care of the stirring counterclockwise while raising the heat to bring the mixture up to a bubble.
And then it could... sit for another 20 minutes. While Olivia did whatever else she needed to do.
Wow, he was doing GREAT, wasn't he?

| Post 4 Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese So....waiting was NOT Olivia's strong suite, but somehow....SOMEHOW....she'd managed. She was just so eager to get this done. AND PROUD of Nicky and PROUD OF HERSELF...and like... Doing two potions at once... GET REKT, SON.
Ahem, after the thirty minutes was up for the second cauldron, the Gryffindor carefully added four drops of murtlap essence and the five drops of vitamin E. After a few beats, the brown sugar joined the fray. And then the baking soda.... Finishing with adding all the individual parts, all that was left to do was stir.... So, the blonde allowed that to take up her remaining time. There was still a few minutes before they could finish up the first cauldron, and Nicky CLEARLY had that well in hand. See?! He was learning!!!
Clockwise, counterclockwise.... Three and then once, just as she had earlier.....until it was actually a pasty, thick consistency. "This one's done!" She proclaimed excitedly!

| Dani's Citrus Duck Spawn | Mama Giraffe | Lemon PATch | Pushed the Red Button While Liv had been waiting on her potion, Nicky had been watching the ONLY ONE they had been SUPPOSED to be brewing. And, after the allotted time was up, he carefully took the cauldron off the heat (using mitts, of course! That paste was for the dummy's burns, not his!).
Now... err.. 20 more stirs?! Did this textbook want him to develop carpal tunnel syndrome?!?!!?
Sigh. He stirred anyway and was rewarded with an unction's consistency. "I think this one's done, too." Maybe not WELL done, but done.

| ❅ Purple Lightsaber ❅| | Captain Sarcastic | Ciara walked around checking on everyone’s progress. Slowly they seem to be finishing with their potions. Some did have longer wait times than others. She knew that they would be finishing at staggered times. As more finished up she checked the time. Seeing that the time for the lesson was soon.
She headed back up to the front of the classroom. ”Okay everyone Class will be ending soon, if you have completed your potion and are ready to give your dummy patient the potion go ahead and do that now. Then you may be dismissed.” She would go ahead and let them leave early today. It had really been an awesome lesson. “You still have time to finish up and give your dummy the potion.” Ciara went back to the center of the room to watch the student administer the potions to their patients. OOC: If your character is still working on their potion they can finish and test the potion on their dummies. I’m going to leave this thread open until Saturday July 1st at 9:00 am est to catch up or whatever you need to do. Thank you for so much attending my lesson I really hope you have enjoyed it.

So far soooooooooo good! He and Zoryn made a great team for this sort of thing. Who knew?!
"I need to take a boat out and conveniently fall in again," he nodded. "Promis-sed Natalie that I would help her meet a merperson in the lake and that s-seems to be our bes-st bet. Or the s-squid."
Watching as Zoryn took on the next step, he nodded at her suggestion for the spoons and picked up the one that she was not using. "S-Seems fair to me," he said while half paying attention to how many times she was stirring. Anything more than three and he tended to zone out though. "Huh?" he said suddenly when she was shouting numbers at him. "OH RIGHT!" Shoving his stirrer into the cauldron and stirring counterclockwise two because that had been the way she had and he remembered that the directions said all in the same direction. He just couldn't remember WHICH one. "1...2..." he recited with each turn around the rim of the cauldron, tongue sticking out to the side in EXTREME concentration. "...6....7! LUCKY 13!"
He could not WAIT to get to bursting these boils. Would bring whole new meaning to the term 'bursting your bubble', you know?
"Now to turn the heat up!" he chirped, his eager hands FLYING towards the knobs on his burner and doing just that. A little TOO enthusiastically. The flames licked the exterior sides of the cauldron, some going all the way up to the to the rim. Squeaking in surprise, Derf tumbled over backward in his stool which added to the chaos as flailing arms meant billowing robes were kissed by the flame and caught fire. Slightly. Just a little.
"WAH!" he yelped as he rolled back and forth to put those out. Since he already had the stop and drop done, you know. Quote: Use/Effect:
Burst nasty boils Ingredients:

| Done but question Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite They had to test these questionable potions???
Well, she didn't know about anyone else but for sure there was something off about her own by virtue of the fact she didn't know how fresh her "fresh newt tail" really was. In future, she wouldn't run such risks, even just for a lesson. She would make a point of asking to go find herself a newt and take its tail. Surely the Professor would understand the need for fresh ingredients more than anyone else in the room.
For now though, she supposed it was a good thing this was only a dummy and it wouldn't matter if his 'bones' truly grew back. Dummies didn't need bones. It would be fine either way. "How will it circulate, Professor?" She asked, raising one hand even as she used the other to tip the vial into her 'patient's' mouth. "Does the dummy have a functioning circulatory system that'll carry the cure to the right portion of the body? Or is it tubing on the inside? Because I don't think I brewed enough to have it travel all the way to his arm without there being some sort of pressure to take it there."
She HAD fed the dummy the potion, but at this point she was sure it had all settled in its chest cavity or something. It was the same problem she had with her dead subjects. Had to get their hearts pumping before she could administer anything to them.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Natasha Shenoy Slytherin Fourth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Andrea Bowen Gryffindor Fifth Year | SUMMER FOREVER Feed the dummy? They had to test the potion on the dummy? WELL. Etta was mildly confused. How would it work on a dummy though? Or maybe the dummies were charmed such that the potions would work? Will the acne go away? Eh. Not that it mattered, really. They were dummies at the end of the day and they were not living but irrespective of whether the potion worked or not, Etta decided to follow instructions anyway. Besides, Jessa was doing the asking so. Awesome.
She poured a few drops of the potion into the dummy's mouth and watched, a doubtful look on her face. Okay, so.. now, what? The girl stared at the dummy expectantly for a long moment but obviously.. the staring wasn't helping. Giving a small sigh, she turned to clear up her desk. She replaced the reading materials back in her bag and made sure her workstation was entirely clean before turning towards the dummy again. Was there a change? She couldn't tell. Oh, well. She turned to look at the professor, glad that this class was reasonably successful. From what Etta could tell at least, she hadn't messed up the potion in any way.. so that was an achievement in itself, right? Right. Eh.

Noelle was confused. Would the potion she made actually work on the dummy? this lifeless dummy in front of her? She was about to ask but then Jessa was already asking. That kid was a smart one.
"Great question Jessa." Noelle said before pouring her yucky and foul smelling potion into a vial. She cleaned her cauldron and then tipped the potion into the dummy's mouth. As much as she doubted it would actually work because this dummy.... was a dummy... this WAS Hogwarts and incredible things happened everyday in here.
She was always being surprised.
Noelle packed her belongings away while she waited to see if the potion worked on her dummy. She really wasn't too curious, but she did work hard on that potion and had wanted to see if it did indeed work.

Oh! They could use their potions on the dummy now. Olly took a glob of the mixture in his cauldron and rubbed it over the area that looked like a burn on the dummy's arm. It was a little weird to be putting this potion on something that wasn't even real but apparently it was going to work. If it didn't he didn't know what he would do. Olly didn't think he had done anything wrong on his end. It turned out that there was nothing to worry about because the burn paste seemed to do its job and the burn on the dummy's arm cleared up nicely.

| ¼ of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pls The alarm clock went off, and Katherine woke up from her dreams. She put out the fire and spared two vials of potions. She wrote her name on one of them, and set that aside. Then the professor said they should try it on their dummies. Errr... someone had already asked it, so she didn't bother ask again. Instead, since she wanted to be over with it already, she dropped one single drop on the injured leg, and then dropped another one into its mouth. Hopefully one of these ways worked. |

"WAH!" he yelped as he rolled back and forth to put those out. Since he already had the stop and drop done, you know. BEST. TEAMWORK. EVER!!!!!!! They made the potion without ANY hiccups!!! lol sort of. "Can I come?" 'Cause Zoryn still needed to see the mermaids too, since they didn't see any the last time. And she didn't really know the Natalie person well, but she was good at making friends. MHM. Kind of. Plus the more, the merrier RIGHT?
One minute she was imagining taking another boat ride and meeting loads of cool creatures and the next minute Derf's robes were on fire. WAIT, DERF'S ROBES WERE ON FIRE!!! OMG. Coolest lesson EVER!!!! Zoryn was SOOOOO excited!!!!! She began jumping up and down in terror (well, more in enthusiasm because SO COOL), before she realized she should probably do something to help because she liked Derf and didn't want him to die or anything. That's when she realized he could be in actual danger. "FIRE! FIRE! DERF'S ON FIRE!!!" she pointed at him with one hand and waved the other one in the air to get someone's attention (preferably the Professor). Her next instinct was to reach for their cauldron and throw the whole potion on top of her friend to put the fire out, but by the time she reached for it.... The flames were already dying down thanks to his rolling. Good thinking, Derf. Genius! "NEVER MIND. FALSE ALARM!!"
'Cause he was good now. Mhm.
While he stayed laying on the ground, Zoryn decided to take matters into her own hand and feed their dummy some of the potion 'cause it was totally cooled off by now. After tipping some into it's mouth, she popped down under the workspace to check on Derf. "You okay???" she asked looking down at him, her head only inches away from him. Not sure what else she could do to help, she offered him a hand to help him off the floor. SO THEY COULD SEE THEIR POTION DO IT'S THING!!!!

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Henry's idea of sitting with someone smart and good with potions probably would have been best if they had been working on the same potion. And, as it turned out, they had not. Still, Henry liked all the girls he was sitting with well enough and, even better, he wasn't all that distracted in today's class. You know, until someone started screaming that Derf was on fire.
False alarm. Right. Henry watched the spectacle a moment longer before turning back to his potion. It really was always something in this class, wasn't it? But things seemed to be under control, relatively, and Henry tried to focus once more.
Jessa asked a good question and he wondered that himself as he looked down at his dummy. He still wasn't sure if it just had a fever or had the flu since flu symptoms would include fever, but he in the end he decided to go with the Fire-Breathing Potion which was supposed to cure both anyway.
He had never made this one before which was always tricky, but all he could do was follow the instructions as best he could and hope for the best. Once he labelled the vials, he poured out a sample of the potion and poured some into his dummy's mouth as well. How long would it take before he'd (hopefully) notice a difference?
