Kimi walked into Potions and took a seat at the front of the classroom and said "Good day Professor Canterbury i am looking forward to today's lesson" Kimi sat and patiently waited for the lesson to start wondering what they would be learning about today

Hadley entered the potions dungeon and paused. This was a bittersweet moment. As eager as she was to get to know and work with the new potions professor, this was the first class without Professor Newton and Madame Curie. Professor Newton had been one of her favorite at Hogwarts along with Sir Knight, and now he was gone.

Was the dungeon brighter today? Yeah, it was definitely brighter. Hadley didn't even know that was possible. Huh. "Hello, Professor. How are you liking Hogwarts so far?" She gave the new professor a small wave and sat down at an empty workstation. Not hard since they were all empty at the moment. While she waited for class to begin, she began to take out all her potion equipment and set it up.

Etta made her way down to the Dungeons, not really looking forward to the lesson. She didn't like the subject all that much.. and she wasn't that good at it, anyway. Oh, well. After what felt like ages, she finally entered the classroom, noticing the lab coats by the door. She picked one in random, put it on and made her way to a workstation closer to the front of classroom.

"Hello, professor." She greeted the new professor politely as she sat down, carefully placing her bag on the table. "Hope you're doing well today." Etta gave her a smile before she pulled out her parchment and quill, ready for class to begin.

Daisy entered the classroom and put on a lab coat as she said, "Good morning, Professor Canterbury. I hope you're well." She headed for the front desk and sat down next to Kimi. Daisy greeted her fellow badger with a smile as she set up her potions equipment.

Potions was definitely one of his favorite subject as he liked the focus it required. He had walked down from the Ravenclaw common room with his potions book tucked under his arm and as he entered the classroom he was momentarily wondering why a feme was seated in Professor Newton's desk. But the he remembered that she was one of the new professors and his surprise changed to curiousity. Would she be fit to teach a bunch of kids?

"Hello Professor" he greeted with a nod of his head before he moved towards the first empty desk he saw at the front. He then sat down, opened his potions book and flipped through the pages. Normally he would take out hos supplies but it seemed that everyone already had them on their workstations.

Potions was one of those subjects in which Skylar had a love-hate relationship with; on one hand, it was very hands on, but it had an awful lot of focusing involved. Not that Skylar minded focusing, because she could do just that when she felt inclined to do so. There was also the fact that Senior Professor Newton was no longer teaching them and while last year, she hadn't seen him much, she did feel strongly over his abilities to teach potions.

She wasn't so sure about this Professor Canterbury yet, but she guessed only time would tell.

"Good morning, Professor Canterbury," Skylar greeted politely, figuring it was best to not get off on the wrong foot. She then went to find a seat and set up her potion things.

Shay was ready for today's Potions lesson, at least she thought she was. She had made her way down to the dungeons after taking a rather circuitous route. Still getting to know the castle, Shay often roamed the halls. She was determined to become familiar with every nook and cranny of the building, if that was possible.

Entering the Potions classroom, she had a smile on her face. It was going to be a good day. Shay was sure of it. "Hello professor", she said cheerfully. The sixth year paused to get a lab coat, before finding an empty seat. She put the protective coat on and sat down. Then she began to prepare for the start of class.

To be honest, Ava didn't really mind about the fact that the old Newton didn't return to Hogwarts as their potions master anymore. It's not because she didn't like him—she loved Newton though. Well, she enjoyed the lesson no matter who taught it and not to mention she got an outstanding result on her OWL last term.

Skipping to the dungeons, the Gryffindor entered the potions lab. "Hello, Professor!" She greeted the potions mistress gleefully. Oh, look! Her new friend was already there. "Hello, Shay. I hope you don't mind if I'm sitting here." Ava said as she sat next to her.

Noelle headed into the Potions classroom. She had been partial to Professor Newton, so she looked at the new professor a little curiously. She smiled though, and gave her a wave. "Good day professor." She said as she looked around the classroom to take a seat.

She waved at everyone as she passed but this being her sixth year, and needing to up her grades in Potions, she didn't stop to chat. That and... she was still trying to get over things personally.

Noelle moved and sat down beside Etta. She grinned at her. "Hey" she said before pulling what she needed out for class. She glanced at the Professor again, trying to get a feeling for the professor.

A new potions professor? That was interesting. Potions was one of Olly's favorite subjects. He hoped this new professor would be up to par. He figured she probably was. Hogwarts wasn't in the business of hiring subpar professors. Except maybe in that one case with the hag? But this potions professor didn't look like a had so he figured everything was probably okay.

"Hello professor," he greeted cheerfully upon walking into the classroom. Now, where to sit? Next to Noelle, of course. Or across from her really, but at the same table. "Hi Noelle. Hey Etta." He greeted the Hufflepuff prefect who was at the table as well. Olly gave both girls friendly smiles and started readying his station for potions.

Kane had to admit, it was going to be a bit weird having potions with a different professor, but probably a GOOD type of different right? He walked in and smiled at the VERY pretty new professor (hehe) and gave her a little wave. "Hello Professor!" he said happily to Canterbury as he entered.

He looked around and spotted Skylar sitting nearby. Since he got the impression from her that she would be annoyed any time he was around and he WASN'T Brent (i.e always) he grinned mischievously and plopped down next to her. "Your favorite Westwood is here!" he chuckled as he unpacked his things.

Potions was far from Henry's favorite class. Sure, he liked to relate to cooking in a way and he appreciated that it was a relatively active rather than passive class. But he had a lot of difficulty focusing and often his potions did not turn out as well as they should. He wasn't even sure he was going to continue it at NEWT level, but he was told it was a required course for his intended subject of study at university, something he needed to really start thinking about now. And luckily he passed his Potions OWL with an A that he could continue on.

As he walked into the classroom, Henry first grabbed a lab coat and slipped that on. Taking note of the professor walking around the room, he gave her a nod before looking for a seat. "Good day, Professor." With having new teachers all the time, it was really hard for him to form much of a bond with some of them, though he was always polite, respectful, and friendly to them. He was just glad for the consistency of his head of house. That was most important to him anyway.

Finding an empty seat, he slid around to the back of the work station to sit down. He didn't pay all that much attention to what was already there. It didn't hold a lot of interest to him and he was sure he'd find out what it was soon enough. Instead, he got out his potions kit and waited for class to begin, periodically looking around the room to see who else was there.

Aurora had spent most of the night trying to learn the routes to the classes. Her grandfather had told her stories about students getting lost for days! She didn't want to get lost on her first day.

She took one wrong turning but realized it after only a few steps. And now here she was outside the door to the Potions classroom. She hoped. She blew out a breath and tried to look calm as she walked through the door. She smiled at the professor - she didn't remember all of their names yet - and took a seat at an empty table in the middle of the classroom.

Potions again. Two weeks back at school and Jessa still wasn't back into the groove of this moving from the Towers to the dungeons between lessons thing. It's funny how much longer the walk seemed when it wasn't for an experiment or some form of study. Just now, the girl felt like she'd seen nothing but cold walls for miles, when it truth, the walk couldn't have been that far.

"Hello Professor." She greeted. Choosing to give the lab coats a try this time around, Jessa slipped into one before moving to the table she and Derf had made their own back in the first week.

Etta and Hadley got waves and smiles as she walked by their table. Noelle got a wave too before the girl flopped down into her seat, locking her gaze on the vials.

"What happens if we mix these two?" She couldn't have been the only one wondering. "Will we?"

Oliver made his way into the potions classroom. It wasn't his strongest subject.. Lucky for him he didn't think he needed it for Wandmaking.. But maybe he was wrong about that. He should Owl Florian and ask him for the sake of his OWLs. He didn't intend for anything to get in the way of his future career.

But he needed to focus on the moment he was in. This was probably his biggest issue with Classes he knew he wasn't great in, his mind would drift to other things and that left very little room for improvement.

It looked like he'd beat Katy here. Which surprised him, she LOVED potions. Sitting at an empty block of chairs the Slytherin sat his books in one of the seats next to him. He'd save her seat. Partially cause it's what best friends were for but also he needed her help in this class for sure. "Hello, Professor." Manners make the man. Or so his grandfather liked to say.

As he stepped through the door, Rooney Bronwyn offered the new Professor a welcoming smile before taking a lab coat off a hook. "Good morning, Professor Canterbury. It's a pleasure to have you in our school this year." It was also a nice thing to hopefully have a new lease of life brought to one of Rooney's stronger subjects. As much as he had enjoyed the years spent with Professor Newton, there was always room for improvement and his newest educational discoveries in the subject had came from time he spent with Miss Katherine Toussaint - of all people. Speaking of his best friend, the one he wasn't engaged to, she didn't seem to be here yet.

The presence of her ex, however, was as annoying as any conversation he had ever had about him. It baffled him that the boy hadn't gotten the hint yet that Katy did not want to be with him. Perhaps he had abandonment or attachment issues. Note to self: look closer at that one, new notebook may be required.

As he approached an empty station, room left for anyone that wanted to join him, Rooney switched over his robes to his lab coat. He popped his robes into his extended satchel, careful to leave them folded in a way that wouldn't get too crumpled and pinned his Head Boy badge to the collar of his lab coat. The Ravenclaw was ready.

Teach me. Please.

Matt was still not all that happy that their former Head of House had left -
Prof Newt was the BEST -, but he was most definitely looking forward to the Americans arriving soon! That would be AWESOME and Matt couldn't wait for that.

So he wasn't in a bad mood, which was always a good thing. He still wasn't sure what he really thought of the new Potions professor, but really, she couldn't be all that bad.
He didn't have high expectations anyway because he KNEW noone would be as cool as professor Newt.

"Hiya, professor Cadbury." Matt greeted the woman with a grin, purposely getting her name wrong. The Gryffindor decided not to wear the lab coat because ain't nobody got time for that, and he went straight to a workstation in the middle of the classroom. He took the vial with the sandy dust looking substance and held it up at eye level, turning it around a few times to see what would happen.

Maxton hurried into the Potions dungeon, grabbing himself a lab coat on his way to an empty workstation away from everyone else. He didn't want any distractions!

He noticed there were already some vials at the desk. One had some clear liquid and the other had some white sandy looking stuff. Ooooh, were they gonna get to mix these together? What were they going to make!?

The second year fidgeted impatiently as he waiting for the Professor to explain.

Yaaaas a labcoat was very welcome for Charlotte. She slipped it on and sailed into the room. She was in a great mood even if there was a whole lesson ahead of her and she would much rather there be no classes at all. This new professor was okay though. Not that Char tended to dislike any professors.

"Hello professor!" Char greeted even as she found an empty table. Safer this way you know, not sitting with the very distracting boyfriend. She got her things set up even before noticing the vials that were already there in each spot. Ooooh.


......Okay she had no clue what these were. Hopefully the task today wouldn't be about identifying what was there because that would mean deep searching in the textbook and honestly it was too early in the school year to be getting that invested in schoolwork.

If some of her more academically​ inclined friends sat with her, then that wouldn't be a problem though. Here's hoping! Only now did she look around to see who was here and make an effort to wave at people and smile all around.

Well he's not gonna deny it, he misses Professor Newton the senior. Gryffindor Head of House, excellent Potions Master, protector of small smart creatures, kindred spirit for all things tea. How can Tenacius not miss a guy like that?

However Potions is also one of his favorite subjects, so the passion to learn is still there. He strides into the Potions classroom with the same spring in his step, the same bright smile on his face. The new Potions Mistress deserves to be greeted as warmly as he does her predecessor "Hullo Professor Canterbury!" he says as he walks by her, then grabs his lab coat and proceeds to take his usual spot by the table, next to the Dazzling Denaker.

Unfortunately for Abey, even though Potions was a mostly practical subject, it required reading instructions and knowing ingredients (which required more reading) and making precise measurements (which Abey was terrible at because he kept mixing things like numbers up all the time) and remembering things (yeah... no). He always dreaded Potions actually, and avoided it as and when he could. Except, well... it was a new term, and his shocking attendance had been noted last year after all, and even though nobody at home had been upset with him last year on account of the whole MONSTER thing at the forefront of everyone's minds, he didn't really want to risk upsetting them this term.

.......... Okay, but maybe he had still been skipping the odd class here and there. Maybe. But he would CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN that he hadn't been feeling very well at those times. It just so happened to always occur at the same times as the classes he was terrified of going to, mhmm. Just a coincidence actually.

But he was at Potions today, because, you know, he wanted to be BRAVE like the Gryffindor he so begrudgingly was and at least give it a go. Even so, he was very quiet as he joined the classroom at the same time as a large crowd of other students (because there was no way he was ever hanging around Hogwarts without at least a million people nearby). After locating a space that wasn't so near the front that the professor was sure to notice him, but not so far back that it was clear he was avoiding being noticed and drawing attention that way, Abey took a seat. Today, even though he knew it was terribly impolite, he decided not to verbally greet the professor, but did at least send a smile her way. An apologetic smile almost, because he knew he was going to do terribly in class today, and apologies would be necessary at some point, probably actually.

But those vials though, they caught Abey's attention quickly enough. Naturally, he poked them, to see if they did anything, before leaving them alone and waiting for class to start.

Olivia wasn't having it today. N o n e of it, and this was most definitely clear as soon as she entered the Potions lab. Face set into a hard line, the blonde snagged a lab coat; ignoring everyone who might've expected some sort of greeting from her. Everyone...except the professor.

It was sufficient to say that she was raised better than that, and there was little doubt her mother would've been abreast of any rudeness. That cow...

"Professor." First Year Liv might've flailed and bounced at the new, pretty face with both hands...but this was an older, more mature Olivia Phillips. More mature, and PMS'ing. So... ahem, forgive the blonde for that one. As she slipped into her lab coat, Liv had to wonder why she'd even bothered making the journey down all those stairs. Hopefully her mood would improve, but considering the cramps...

Also... these vials... Hm. What was all this about? It was cute, too, that parchment had been provided, but then again... Olivia suspected they might be charmed. Provided notes? If she shot Aparecium! at it, would the potion of the day magically appear?! That would be been super helpful. If not, what a missed opportunity.

"Good morning, Professor Canterbury."

He grabbed a lab coat on his way in and gave the woman a polite nod. The room was unusually bright, which was--well, it wasn't bad but it was doubtlessly strange considering the classroom's location. Levi blinked against in slight confusion, then proceeded to ignore it.

Waves and smiles were given to friends and acquaintances alike as the boy strolled to join Kettleburn at her workstation of choice. He dropped his messenger bag, pushed up his glasses and shrugged into the lab coat. He smiled his house mate but his attention was largely focused on the vials and...powder?

Okay. He blinked.

"I was gonna tell you something but I can't remember what it was anymore." Probably hadn't been important, then. Hopefully. He smiled, took out his self-inking quill and journal. "Anyway--Hiya, Kettleburn."

Kirk had managed to get himself decent looking before arriving down in the dungeons for a lesson in Potions. "Hello Professor." He was curious on how her lessons will go compared with former Professor Newton. He did see the lab coats, but didn't see a sign that told him to grab one so he went to sit at a workstation near his housemates in the middle.
