| | Narrow Stairwell Returning to the area that has been used by countless Ancient Runes professors as a gateway to their office, you will find that the place is quite barren. No cushioned chairs or sofas with tables containing confectionary delights await you. For a moment you might find yourself puzzled by the lack of a good-hearted welcome, but then the fact that Headmistress Hawthorne now teaches the subject pops into your mind. If you wish to casually speak with the woman regarding the subject, the fifth floor is not where she will be found.
Conveniently located across from the locked door of where the Ancient Runes professor's office normally would have been is the opening of a stairwell just big enough for two people to travel on without having to step aside and wait for the other to pass by. Thanks to magic, this recent development will take you from this part of the castle down three floors and vice versa. At the bottom of the steps, the Stone Gargoyle can be clearly seen directly down the corridor, watching as you make step onto the second floor. Students are welcome to use this set of stairs to make getting to the headmistress easier and faster. Or you can use them to simply avoid having to deal with those moving staircases if they are giving you a hard time.
Just don't be caught hanging out in the stairwell doing something you shouldn't be. After all, the headmistress's office really isn't that far from here. OOC: Because the headmistress already has an office of her own (a much larger one at that), there is no need for her to have a second office. Use this thread as a quick shortcut from the fifth floor, should you wind up looking for her there, to the second floor. Feel free to also use this thread for general interactions with each other as well, in spite of the stairs not being very roomy.

Of course Dora KNEW that the Headmistress didn't have an office near her classroom, but she had been told that the stairwell there kind of took one to the gargoyles. If it was TRUE then this was an amazing shortcut from the girl's house tower, of course! CHYEAH!
And while the Gryffindor wasn't exactly sure how she felt about the Headmistress she was sure of ONE thing: if she needed career advice, this might be the best person to ask, ya know. And well... acting on a whim she hadn't exactly tried to set up an appointment. Hopefully the ice queen of a woman wouldn't turn her away.
Sighs.
This was beginning to sound worse and worse to her as she went. Expelling a huff of air, the girl sat down on one of the steps and propped her chin in her hands. Was this a good idea? What if the woman hated her and like... belittled her or something? Not that she had ever seen the woman do such things, but still. Tugging absently at the sleeve of her robes, Dora let her mind wander... painting the worst case scenario in her mind.

| Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch With end-of-the-year examinations approaching, it was on Regina's to-do list to get ahead in writing the actual exam itself and preparing for the reviewing lessons. Though, of course, there were other matters that were taking priority, such as administrative paperwork, finalising the last IMPS competition, and adolescent dramatics. But it was Ancient Runes she was using as an excuse to leave her office. She needed a temporary distraction from some of the more pressing items, a distraction that allowed her to productively procrastinate and escape.
So there the headmistress was, walking down the corridor away from the stone gargoyle and making her way onto the narrow staircase that would so conveniently take her up to the fifth floor where her Advanced Rune Study was located. Everything she needed would be there, never mind that she could have simply summoned the necessities.
The woman would have walked past the blonde sixth year sitting on one of the steps had the stairwell been larger. But, needless to say, it was hard to miss people on these stairs -- it was not as grand as the moving staircases, and this was likely a stairwell less travelled considering the parts of the castle it led to. The sight of Dora Umbridge quickly pulled Regina out of her musings and caused her to pause mid-way up the stairs. Curious.
"Good evening, Miss Umbridge. What brings you to the stairwell today?" Was this her designated thinking spot? Or was she just Gryffindor-ing?

Constant Vigilance was not a thing at the moment, seeing as she was off in her head... but the sound of footsteps approaching did register. Hmmm. Like one of those moments you could HEAR something, but not quite draw yourself from what you are doing.
Oh daydreams and anxiety were a heck of a thing.
Then that voice... the voice that struck FEAR INTO THE HEARTS OF THE WEAK... pierced her thoughts and drug her eyes upward. Oh man. Of COURSE she got caught being weird in a stairwell by the woman who she was about to seek out. Of. Course.
"Headmistress... I was actually going to try to find you, but kind of got sidetracked." Clearly she had a lot going on. Haha. Finally rising the blonde girl smoothed down her robes and cleared her throat. "If it's not an imposition, I'd like to speak with you, mam. " Cue her nicest smile.

| Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch The girl's reaction almost earned a raise of her brow. As for as Regina could tell, the sixth year had been deep in thought about something. The headmistress was tempted to question Dora out of curiosity, but decided that it would be best to not prod into the mind of a Gryffindor. They had a reputation for letting their imagination get the better of them. It was a can of worms that didn't need to be opened.
Though the eyebrow did finally rise when Dora informed her that she was actually looking for her until she got sidetracked with Merlin knows what. Needless to say, it was surprising that the girl sitting before her was seeking her out. The American had been fairly certain that this Gryffindor, among several of her peers, didn't think of her very fondly. But maybe her assumption was wrong. Regina was human after all in spite of trying to appear as stoic as possible.
"I was actually on my way to the Advanced Rune Study to collect some materials so I can prepare the final exam," she replied, giving a quick glance up the stairwell. "But a conversation would not be an imposition." She was more than capable of multi-tasking. "What is it you wished to speak to me about, Miss Umbridge?"

Well, perhaps Dora hadn't seemed to be especially fond of the woman during the challenges, but given the climate of the entire thing; could she really be blamed? She didn't really think any one of them could be blamed seeing as they were all dramatic teens. Heh. And well, the Gryffindor girl knew when she needed to bury the hatchet, so to speak.
Like now.
Bygones.
Letting her eyes move up the stairs she motioned for the Headmistress to lead the way. The blind girl would definitely follow. "Well, I was wondering if I could pick your brain for career advice. I think I... know what I want to study and what I want to do, but then again, I'm not sure if I should go for something more. Or something different. And well, I reckon yourself and my professors would have a better idea of what our strengths are often times." Strengths were not often a thing that Dora saw about herself. She instead latched onto her flaws and let them eat her alive.
"I am considering Linguistics and Modern Wizarding Languages with perhaps a minor in Wizarding Politics and Foreign Affairs or some such." Maybe she'd fall in love with the Ministry and go there after university... or she'd follow and different path altogether.
Why was life so difficult to figure out?!
"And like... what university would be best for me to study these things at? I feel like having my ministry internship as well as IMPS on my resume might not be a horrible thing. But what about extra curriculars? I tend to spend most of my time studying and doing academic things as opposed to getting involved in clubs and such. " Could the woman tell the Gryffindor was on the verge of spiraling? Too much pressure!! WHAT IF NO SCHOOL WANTED HER?!
