| | Infant Magical Creatures Nursery Halfway between Professor Wayland's hut and the barn, you will notice a much smaller, light grey, and white barn. This is the Infant Magical Creatures Nursery. The nursery is where many infant creatures are taken care of when their parents can't take care of them. Many of these infant creatures are orphans, and Professor Wayland needs all the help he can get. If you look just inside the door you'll find shelves stocked with dragon hide gloves, goggles, brushes, clean rags, and anything else you could ever need to care for these adorable infant creatures.
Just outside the back door there are multiple pens, and stables that house the larger animals, like Abraxans, and a closed off pasture that you can let your infant creatures play or roam around in. Make sure when you put your creature away that all the doors are securely closed when you are finished caring for your baby creatures. We wouldn't want them to get out and get hurt!
Please come in and let your babies get to know you! Watch them grow and learn! If there is ever any issue, please contact Professor Wayland immediately. OOC: Please do not post here until you have your animal assignment. For more information, please see the Creature Calls announcement thread. Remember, this is a NO CHAT ZONE so please make sure your posts are only interactions with your creature. Thank you!

| #1 astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf To say Derf was ecstatic was an understatement. HE COULD HARDLY CONTAIN HIMSELF!
To tell the truth, he had kinda secreted a little when he had received word that he was getting a BOWTRUCKLE. Sure it wasn't a dragon egg, but it was hard to deny the connection he felt with his IDOL right now. HE WAS GOING TO FORM A BOND WITH A BOWTRUCKLE SO STRONG THAT HE WOULD BE LIKE HER HOME TREE!
Which did cause for pause with the Hufflepuff thinking about how he was going to be associating himself with a plant. But the pause was super short and forgettable because HE HAD HIS VERY OWN BOWTRUCKLE!
Sprinting down to the nursery as fast as his short gangly legs could manage, the second year completely bypassed all gloves and any kind of safety equipment in lieu of finding his new friend as soon as possible. Making his way through and around the various pens and tanks towards the makeshift tree Professor Wayland had described in the letter, Derf's bright blue eyes searched the false foliage looking for one that was MOVING. It took a bit but eventually he laid eyes on HER and not because of her moving so much as the TAG with his NAME on it. Okay, so her movements sort of were what drew his attention to her at first since she WAS moving a bit...and mostly doing so to try and tear off the tag that was carefully tied around her middle.
"Hi Picketta!" he chirped softly to the bowtruckle - that was her name, in case she did not know - he leaned forward with a HUGE grin on his face and hand extended for her to hop on and they could begin their SKINSHIP EXPERIENCE.
Only she didn't jump on his hand.
At all.
Rather she leaped on to his FACE and began clawing at his forehead and eyelids while sinking her adorable baby teeth into his nose. Yelping and trying NOT to flail too much, Derf shut his eyes and patted his robes to find his pocket BECAUSE HE HAD TOTALLY COME PREPARED FOR THIS! TOTALLY.
OW OW OW OW OW...
"Pi OW ck OOOW etta OW OW OW," he yelped as he fished out a small fist full of wood lice and held it up somewhere near his face. He could FEEL the tiny bugs crawling around on his hand and he HOPED she would smell them or see them and leave his eyes alone because his eyelids were BURNING now from her sharp precise scratches. "OW here OW OW food OW for OW you." It took a few more uncomfortable and pleasantly painful moments, but eventually the bowtruckle DID notice the wood lice and abandoned his hand to begin devouring them right off his hand. She must have been SUPER hungry and did bite his palm once or twice in the process of pouncing on one of the lice, but it SEEMED to help her calm down a little. Or maybe he was just being optimistic.
In either case, the Hufflepuff knew they were going to need LOADS of skinship time to get to Home Tree level and was already formulating a plan for how to accomplish this. One would require he borrow that invisibility cloak of Jessa's....
In any case, Derf had sat down and was simply enjoying watching her consume the wood lice. Wasn't it sweet how little remains of terrestrial isopod crustacean legs got thrown about in her haste to eat lunch? Aaaaw.

| post 3 :D HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED Melbourne walked over to the infant creature nursery early on February 14th. She had a her coziest of sweaters on and had a small box for Darcy. Yes, she was feeding her Jarvey friend but still, it was more than that she had made her a little cooked meat cake…thing? A bloody valentine of meat she had shaped into a little heart…the cartoon heart, not the anatomical heart but she was sure that Darcy would have enjoyed an anatomically correct heart more. ”Hey Darcy,” she smiled at the Jarvey as it popped its head up at her as she entered the room. The chirping and chittering seemed more accepting of her today, as if by visiting her daaaaaily since her birth Darcy was welcoming Melbourne as part of her clan. ”Here you go, I brought you food…when you’re done eating I’ll give you a bath? Maybe bring you for a walk?” she offered and chuckled at Darcy’s insistent chirping and chittering upon hearing those words. ”I have to bathe you Darce, you might end up smelling like fish guts if I don’t and you know we don’t want the other Jarveys to think you are a meal” she chuckled to herself more than anything as she placed the now open box on the ground and watched as Darcy grabbed the meat within her paws and began to quickly shove bits of it into her mouth.
When she was finished Mel reached down her hand toward the creature and watched as Darcy hopped onto it. She hadn’t hopped onto her so willingly before, it was nice really. ”You remember I told you about a boy the last time?” Mel chuckled as she heard the groaning chitter of Darcy’s foul mouthed chirping and grinned. ”yep…that’s the one, when you’re old enough I’ll introduce you two.” she told her and smiled as she picked up a little brush and began to work the teeth of the brush through Darcy’s matted hair, with a pause the Gryffindor girl added ”he’s my boyfriend now.” she admitted with a small smile, ”I might bring him by here after our…well, date-thing later, now…lets get the rest of this stuff out of your fur.” Mel smiled as she filled up a small bowl, just large enough for Darcy to sit in, with warm water and watched as Darcy meandered closer to it and stuck first her paws into the water slowly wetting them and then she just sat there unwilling to clean anything else. ”Alright, I get it you don’t want a bath now…I’ll give you one later then.” she tutted at the little Jarvey and grinned at her before putting her back into the little habitat that Mel had so painstakingly decorated like a traditional jarvey den.

| #2 astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf Another day another pocket full of woodlice! Thankfully Scamander left those alone and stuck to her own food supply - he was pretty sure his warty newt was a Hufflepuff TOO based on her compromising personality and such. But Derf had a little something EXTRA with him today. And, well, it wasn't even really DAY time right now either. He thought he was sneaky, but an invisibility cloak could only cover SO much and he was no where near skilled enough to be able to handle a Disillusionment Charm yet. Sooooooo...HE was covered with it...and half of his mattress. But it had been enough to sneak out of the castle while everyone was in the Great Hall for dinner and that was really all that a 12-year-old aspiring Newt Scamander could hope for.
Being eeeeextra careful as he made his way back towards Picketta's tree, Derf flopped the mattress down and immediately collapsed on it with the brown paper bag containing his dinner still clutched between his teeth. His bowtruckle surely recognized his defeated groan because she soon came scampering down from her tree and leaped on to his chest to begin clawing at his pocket for her treat. "Hold on," he laughed tiredly, his paper bag sliding down the side of his face to the mattress, as spaghetti arms moved to pull the box out from his pocket and thumb flipped open the lid.
Pickette immediately began eating, but Derf simply lay on his back. Things were SO much easier when he had an Abey or a Natalie helping him drag mattresses around and it all made him a little more determined to learn a proper levitation charm ASAP. Picketta finished with her woodlice soon enough and quickly scampered back up Derf's chest and climbed on to his face to look at him properly. Which meant she was sort of standing on his nose and looking down at him with her adorable beady eyes.
"I was-s going to read to you," he explained. "But too tired now." Because that had been a LONG haul by himself. And he didn't even want to think about dragging it back UP to the castle tomorrow morning. "Maybe...after...a break..." he yawned, eyes already closing.
Which seemed perfectly acceptable to the bowtruckle. Pickette watched him a moment before climbing down his face and scampering over to the pocket the box of woodlice had been kept and wiggled herself inside. The gentle up and down movement of Derf's chest was WEIRD to her and certainly not tree-like, but it was soothing enough that soon she too fell asleep.
And both stayed asleep until sun up. Oops?

| Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite Today was gonna be a FUN day. Why? Because she promised Dexter they'd be giving his wings some exercise this go around.
For the past few weeks, she'd been giving him exercises that forced him to use his wings and she watched her baby Aethonan grow from barely being able to prance about at long distances to something a little more reliable. See, now he kinda did this...er...cruising thing where he stayed in the air for a few seconds at a time before his wings gave out.
It was such a magical thing, y'know? Watching a baby winged horse learn how to use his most prominent feature. She supposed it was like a mother watching her kid learn first how to walk then to run. Granted Dexter already knew how to walk but that wasn't the point. It was MAGICAL. "Deeeeeexter!" She called in her usual fashion as she entered the barn. The sound of hooves scraping against the wooden door of the stall near the back confirmed the Aethonan's enthusiasm at her return. This was probably the highlight of his day, having her visit him at some point before he went to bed. Her times weren't consistent, usually as a result of everything else she had going on but Jessa was sure to see him for even five minutes a day once she could help it.
The Ravenclaw came to a stop by his stall door, tugging it open and heading in to give him rubs along his neck. "I hope you didn't forget we're gonna get you flying today." Of course it's likely he didn't know or understand but she knew he'd love it regardless!! "Come on! Let's get you saddled!" Feeding and brushing would happen after his exercise, as a perfect means of winding down for him.
Jessa reached for the small saddle and the small harness, equipping them with much more fluidity than she did when she first began this--partially because of how much more compliant Dexter was now. She didn't have nearly as many disobedience or defiance issues as she once did.
Next, she led him out into the barn area and over to the makeshift course she'd made. Half would require running but some would require him to be airborne for even a little. The 14 year old cast a featherlight charm on herself JUST IN CASE, before climbing onto his back. This would be his first time carrying anyone and she didn't wanna add too much pressure. He would need to learn to follow the instructions of his rider first. "Alright bud, we're gonna take this nice and slow for now." With the slightest of nudges from her heels, Jessa gestured him forward--a trick that took several minutes for him to grasp but when he did, Merlin did he go!
The thing was, they'd done the course before, but more often, she ran along beside him cheering for him to keep going, getting him all riled up, that sort of thing. She could tell he still expected her next to him by the way he kept looking to the side but she spoke to him frequently, assuring him she was still there; cheering in the same manner she typically did.
One obstacle cleared, then another but they were cleared with jumps...not flight. "We talked about this Dex, use your wings." Her legs nudged at the wings he kept tucked at his side, encouraging them to open but every time they did, he clammed them shut again. "Noooo, you gotta do this. Just spread 'em a little. You don't even have to fly but you gotta get off the ground for a bit." The horse paid no heed to her words, continuing his jumps at every obstacle.
Over and over she nudged at his wings, insisting he get them open until he finally left them there....but he wouldn't flap them. Frustrated, she gave a tug at the reigns, forcing him to stop then she climbed off and moved to a position before him. There, she extended her arms much like his wings had been extended. Curiously he watched, extending his once more. "Good, now pay attention." She began flapping her arms, doing it over and over until his wings began flapping too.
Not particularly fussed about how she may have looked to anyone passing by, she began running with her arms flapping, giving an occasional leap. With the featherlight charm still in place, she actually got some distance between jumps.
Dexter came prancing behind her, jumping and flapping along with her. Over time she noticed the time he spent in the air grew longer and longer. It got her grinning excitedly. "That's it! Just like that! Come on!" Around the course she ran, baby Aethonan in tow flapping at his wings and essentially hop!flying about with her.
Around and around they went, spending the afternoon on this activity. The Ravenclaw didn't notice the time passing. All she noticed was her baby Aethonan getting more comfy with the use of his wings and the way he sometimes boldly lunged into the air before hurtling back down. This was progress, small progress in the grander scheme of things but progress nonetheless.

| Post #3. (Bit of a 'post in the past'...) Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space.
Over Christmas, Felicity had missed Floyd more than she'd realised, and had been back at the Castle for only a day when she pulled on her coat and headed down to the Infant Creatures Nursery. Pulling out her wand and melting the snow in front of her, the Slytherin checked her pockets with her other hand as she walked. Apple? Check. Sugar cubes? Check, check and check? Wooden pendant? Check.
The last was, of course, the most important, and upon reaching the door, Felicity took it from her pocket, marvelled at the Ehwaz rune, and slipped the pendant over her head. She knew that having spent time away from the school, and therefore not having seen her Aethonian for a while, the foal may be wary of her, moreso than she had been at the end of last term. Even if that wasn't the case, she knew that the relationship still needed building, and thanks to the Headmistress's Ancient Runes lesson's, she was excited.
Felicity shook the snow from her hair and pulled off her gloves, before holding the pendant with one hand and stowing her wand away. She knew it had taken her a few tries during the lesson, and although she'd practiced with the arrival of her new owl, she wasn't one hundred per cent confident that she'd get this in one go. "Ehwo ehwo ehwo, e e e e h w o o o, ehwu ehwa ehwi ehwe ehwo, ehwo ehwe ehwi ehwa ehwu, e e e e h w o o o." She chanted, watching as a faint white light began to come from the carving. "Ehwo ehwo ehwo, e e e e h w o o o, ehwu ehwa ehwi ehwe ehwo, ehwo ehwe ehwi ehwa ehwu, e e e e h w o o o. Ehwo ehwo ehwo, e e e e h w o o o, ehwu ehwa ehwi ehwe ehwo, ehwo ehwe ehwi ehwa ehwu, e e e e h w o o o." Twice more she chanted, until the glow was strong, and then she dropped the pendant and hurried forward to the stable housing Floyd.
"Miss me?" A grin spread across her face as almost at once the foal neighed in earnest, nuzzling against her pockets. Felicity was delighted, knowing that usually the sniffing seemed to be wary, and this was excited. Pulling out the apple, she tossed it and watched the horse snatch it out of the air, before proceeding to fill up its water and food trough. The apple was quickly demolished, however, and Floyd was following the fourth year around, just tall enough to rest her nose on her shoulder. After cleaning up the stall, Felicity took down the coat she'd bought before the holidays and eased it onto the Aethonian, noticing how readily Floyd let her touch her wings - a spot she'd been particularly sensitive about previously. Once she'd helped straighten out the feathers, Felicity lead the horse to the pasture and pulled the sugar cubes from her pocket.
"Wanna stretch those wings some more?"
The Aethonian seemed to understand her, and shook her wings out to their full span, neighing happily. As she tossed the first sugar cube, the horse jumped for it, catching the wind and coasting through the air for a few seconds. It was progress on the jumping that she'd managed before Christmas, which had been high but not really travelled, and Felicity clapped with delight before throwing another cube.
After a few renditions, and lots of encouragement from the girl, the foal was staying in the air for much longer, beating its wings awkwardly, and landing on its wobbly legs after a few minutes. Felicity's cheeks were red with the cold, and her hands growing numb, and the horse seemed to recognise this and proceeded back to her stall without much encouragement. After removing her coat, she proceeded to brush her.... Well, proper coat, arranging her feathers to Floyd's seeming contentment. As she mumbled her goodbyes and bundled herself back up for the walk to the castle, the glow from the rune began to fade.

| Post 1 Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler To say that Emmeline was happy to get the chance to take care of a baby creature would be a huge understatement; the first year couldn't remember the last time that she'd been so excited! Well, maybe arriving at Hogwarts, but this was a different kind of excitement, because she loved creatures and this baby one was hers for the WHOLE year!
She had just received a note this morning from Professor Wayland saying that she'd been assigned a male cruppy! Emmeline had raced down to the infant nursery barn as soon as she'd shoveled a quick breakfast down. As she entered the nursery, the first year made herself stop to get some supplies. She really, really wanted to race over to the kennels but she had to get everything right. So she piled baby cruppy chow, a red collar, and a leash onto her left arm and walked way too slowly over to the kennel area to find the one with HER name on it.
THERE HE WAS! Merlin, today was the best, best day ever! The first year had come to a full stop in front of the kennel with her name on and peered inside at her cruppy. She couldn't see him properly from the outside, so she used her free, right hand to open the kennel. Unfortunately, she hadn't been careful enough -- she should've set the stuff down -- because the cruppy had come bounding out and over to her as soon as the door was open enough for him to slip through! He was super little, itty bitty really, but the surprise of him coming out so fast made the first year teeter back on her feet and totally drop his leash! Oops. She quickly set the cruppy chow down, because it was heavy and she was going to drop that next if she didn't, and knelt down to the cruppy's level. "Hi, buddy!"she cooed to the little guy.
Her cruppy was mostly white, but he had tan spots around his eyes that extended to his ears so that those were tan too. He also had tan spots above his left leg, on his right side, and on his butt that went alll the way up his tail. His tail had a cute little white tip, though, and Emmeline thought he was so beautiful. She immediately scooped him up and giggled when he licked her face.
After a while of cuddling and petting him, Emmeline fastened the red collar around his neck gently so he could get used to wearing one. She'd chosen a red collar in honor of Gryffindor, and she liked how it looked on the cruppy. The first year stood up and peered inside his kennel. Oops, he'd had an accident! Gross!
Emmeline was super, super glad that Mr. Levi had taught her TWO cleaning spells in Potions the other day, because this kennel definitely needed both of them. She unholstered her wand and pointed it at the gross mess inside the kennel: "Evanesco!" And the mess was gone, yay! But she also cast: "Scourgify!" and soap bubbles came out of her wand to make the kennel alll clean. Perfect!
Her cruppy had been running around her in wide circles while she was doing this, but he came trotting back over when Emmeline put her wand away and poured some baby cruppy chow into his bowl. The cruppy immediately began wolfing down his meal, so Emmeline had time to take the food alll the way back to its spot by the nursery doors and race back to his kennel before he'd even noticed she was gone. He ate his food so fast that he was done after only fifteen minutes, so Emmeline attached his leash and led him out to the enclosed pasture that was part of the nursery.
The Gryffindor fished a ball out of her pocket that she'd grabbed while she was putting the cruppy food up and, after unhooking his leash, she threw it across the fenced-in area and watched him speed off after it! He didn't bring it back when she called him, though, he just ran around with the ball in his mouth. Emmeline gave up on getting it back pretty quickly and spent a long time chasing him around the pasture. Sadly, it was soon time to head back to the castle and the homework that was waiting for her there.
Emmeline chased the cruppy around and re-hooked his leash onto his collar so she could lead him back inside his kennel. She unhooked it again once he was safely inside, and had to shut the door super fast so he couldn't run out again. "Bye, buddy! I'll see you later!", she called as she hurried out of the nursery, putting up his leash on her way out. He definitely needed a name -- she couldn't call him "buddy" forever -- but Emmeline was so bad at coming up with names. She resolved to talk to Derf and Stasya and find a name for her cruppy as soon as possible on her way back up to the castle. |

| Post 3 Let your light shine || Be the sun || You're important. Always.
Epiphany was spoiled. Noelle knew she had her bowtruckle spoiled. She visited her everyday. Sometimes not as long as she would like, but she visited everyday. Sometimes she brought extra goodies. Sometimes she didn't. It all depended on what she could find, and what she could get her hands on.
Heading into the Nursery, Noelle grinned when she saw her little Pip bouncing on her tree limb, eager to see her. "Pip!" She said happily and made her way over. She bent to pick her up, getting a little bite from the bowtruckle. "Hey. Don't blame me. Blame Olly. We had to go train a bit." Of course Noelle talked to her bowtruckle like it was her best friend.
"Okay, lets get you cleaned up... eh! no. You didn't get your bath last time. You wanted to be stubborn. No. No. Pip. NO. Don't stick your tongue out at me." She shook her head at the bowtruckle. Heading to the table, she accioed a bowl and caught it with her free hand. She used her wand to add water in the bowl and warmed it up just a touch. She touched it to make sure it was warm enough and not too warm. "Okay. Pip. NOw... listen... listen. You act like you don't like baths but then you get inside them and you love them." She said to the bowtruckle that was wiggling to be free from her palm. She moved to place Pip in the bath. "See?? Its not so bad." She told Pip before she stooped down to get on her level. "Wash up and I have some wood lice for you." Her favorite.
Noelle talked and giggled with her bowtruckle as the bowtruckle played and washed up in the water. Then when she was done, she dried her with an air spell before heading back to the tree. "Okay. Here." She said handing the bowtruckle a couple of wood lice. The bowtruckle accepted eagerly. "Be good okay? I gotta go to my next class." Which just so happened to be Transfiguration.
She waved bye to her little Pip and went about her way.

| Post 2 Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler It was Saturday! It was also still way too cold outside, which the first year did NOT appreciate. Still, she had pulled her winter cloak on and marched down to the infant creatures nursery bright and early like she did every day. She had decided on naming her cruppie Sirius a couple of weeks after her very first visit ever, and he seemed to really like the name so far. Or at least he knew his name by now, and responded to it every time! He was growing too fast for Emmeline's liking too, though he was still definitely puppy-sized. She slipped through the doors into the nursery barn and made sure to close them securely behind her. She pulled down the sack of baby cruppy chow, a leash, and a tug-of-war rope before threading her way through other cages and environments to the cruppy kennels. "Hiiii, Sirius! Time to wake up!," she called as she came up to his kennel.
Emmeline had learned how to handle this whole kennel thing now. She set down everything she was holding before opening the door, so that when Sirius came barrelling out, she wasn't as likely to drop the food and spill it all over the floor. A huge smile crossed the Gryffindor's face as she hugged Sirius tightly to her. "Thanks for waking up," she told him softly. Sirius usually had loads and loads of energy at any time except the mornings; he was like Emmeline that way, but she was determined to change that for his sake. Crups couldn't always sleep in, nope. She was sure that just like Nanny claimed it wasn't good for kids, it wasn't good for Sirius either. So she made sure to come feed Sirius his breakfast before she even ate hers every morning -- no matter how tempting the smells wafting out of the Great Hall were. She'd broken her rule and eaten her own breakfast before coming down here today, though, because she wanted to be with Sirius for a LONG time today. The first year carefully measured out Sirius' food into his food bowl and then unholstered her wand and directed it at his empty water bowl and cast: "Augamenti!" Yaaayy, water came out to fill the bowl up! She still had trouble with that spell sometimes, Emmeline mused as she left Sirius to his eating and put the food bag up.
Sirius was officially potty trained, which was so good, because his accidents in the kennel were GROSS. Instead of having to deal with that again, Emmeline hooked his leash to his Gryffindor-red collar and led him outside to a grassy area for him to do his business. She performed the same two cleaning spells as last time to keep the ground from getting gross, but quickly led the cruppy back inside the nursery this time. They were going to play indoors today, because Sirius didn't like being out in the cold too long in the mornings.
Emmeline and Sirius played a rousing game of tug-of-war over his toy rope for at least three hours, with Sirius stopping for water, potty breaks, and little bits of rest in between bouts of playing whenever he needed to. Now that he looked sleepy, Emmeline figured it was time she got around to his least favorite thing in the whoooole world -- a bath!
The first year put Sirius's leash back on him and pulled him over to a small, enclosed area. The area was fenced in, but there weren't any babies inside it -- she guessed that it was extra space, or it was being saved for another baby that hadn't arrived yet. But for now it was where Sirius got his baths; the cruppy had learned this super quickly, and now he pulled on the leash to try to drag Emmeline away from the fence and back to his kennel. "No, Sirius. No pulling," Emmeline scolded him gently, and tugged him back in the right direction gently but firmly. Once he was safely closed inside, the Gryffindor retrieved crup shampoo, towels, and a brush from the supplies area.
She stepped into the small enclosure with her cruppy, making sure that the door was totally shut. He always made a run for it, but she was quicker and the fence was too high for him to jump. "C'mon, Sirius, it's not that bad. You had fun splashing in puddles last time, remember?" Clearly, the cruppy did NOT remember because he kept trying to get away from Emmeline and avoid the water that she shot out of her wand. The first year sighed, held his collar firmly, and tried to ignore the sad noises he made when the water got him totally wet. She soon put her wand away and started scrubbing Sirius down with shampoo alllll over his body. Then it was time to shoot more water out of her wand and wash all the shampoo out; this was Sirius's secret, favorite part. Because even though he kept his sad noises and even sadder eyes going the WHOLE time she rinsed him off, he turned into a very happy boy when the Gryffindor made some BIG puddles on the floor for him. He splashed happily in the puddles today, just like every time, and sprayed water everywhere. Of course, Emmeline was already soaking wet down her front because of having to hold him still and shampoo him and everything, but the puddles made it worse.
She giggled as she watched Sirius run through the puddles, over and over again, until finally she called him back. The cruppy bounded over to her and jumped on her immediately, getting her even wetter and trying to lick her face besides all that. Emmeline pretended to groan at his antics, which just made Sirius turn his tail into a mini-whip and lick her MORE. She grinned at him as she finally used a drying spell an older student had taught her to get both of them reasonably dry again. She wasn't good enough at it for totally dry, but Sirius would be staying in here napping until he dried off completely anyway. She cast Evanesco to get rid of the puddles and soapy mess on the ground, before opening the fence door and leading Sirius back to his kennel. Once back in front of his kennel, Emmeline plopped down on the ground so that Sirius could cuddle in her lap while she brushed him. He shook his hair out a few times, but he was very well-behaved other than that. She was impressed!
He was definitely sleepy; Emmeline kind of thought he collapsed into his kennel too dramatically for the amount of exercise he'd done, so she giggled as she unhooked his leash and closed the kennel door. "Okay, bye Sirius! I love you, sweet dreams!", she told him softly before putting up any other supplies she had out and leaving the nursery barn for now. |

| Post 2 Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict There might have been a bit of guilt in the twelve-year-old’s heart as she had made her way down to the nursery, bundled up against the cold, but Stasya had to go home for Christmas. It was a choice of seeing her papa or staying at Hogwarts, and she’d figured her puffskein would still get cared for while she was away. Her puffskein that she had finally named Albus, more because of jelly bean connections than anything else, and she figured it went with Dobby too. Considering she still completely intended on getting the puffskein acquainted with her squirrel at some point. Not today, though. Today she was just going to see Albus and make sure he knew she hadn’t abandoned her. Today was puffskein first, and then maybe she’d go to the barn and take Dobby for a walk. If she wasn’t too cold, but they could walk inside the barn too. She knew there wasn’t really a maybe there. She just had to make sure she didn’t miss any classes.
Walking into the nursery, she stopped by the storage area and collected some food for Albus, along with a brush and some bath things. Albus needed to stay clean after all, even if she figured he couldn’t get into too much trouble in his little cage. Once she had everything she needed, she walked over to the cage and grinned at the puffball rolling toward her. “Remember me?,” she said softly, opening the cage and letting him roll straight onto her hand. She smiled as the little pink tongue rolled out to lick her wrist, and lifted him to eye level again. “You’re bigger, Albus.” Not too much bigger. The puffskein still fit in the palm of her hand, but she could feel that he’d gained weight. Which wasn’t a bad thing, even if she liked him staying small.
Either way, she set out the food near the cage and let him eat while she cleaned out the cage and fluffed up his little blanket nest in the corner. That was totally like her squirrel. Dobby liked nesting too, so it was familiar. She’d giggled at the feeling of something bumping up against her foot, before looking down to see Albus starting to roll in her direction again. “Okay. You can come up again,” she said, leaning over and picking him up. “Your home’s all nice and clean now,” she informed him, trying to figure out if it’d be easier to use a little bowl for his bath or not. Ultimately, she decided it would be, and she set him in the cage and closed the door before she ran to get one.
Filling it about halfway full of water, she used the heating charm she learned in Charms class to make sure it wasn’t too cold before she picked him up again and set him inside. Another little giggle slipped out as she watched him stick his tongue out again to lick the water, but she quickly wet his fluff and used a tiny bit of shampoo to make sure he was squeaky clean. Picking him up again and moving the bowl out of the way, she dried him off before sitting down and letting him crawl into her lap. “Time for a brush,” she said softly, carefully brushing the fluff until he looked like his usual puffball self and then letting him sit on her shoulder for a while. Giggling yet again when she felt his tongue go in her ear again. “You can’t always do that, y’know,” she informed him, standing up to put him back in the cage, nestling him in the blankets so she could head back up to the castle by way of the barn. Eventually she wanted to train him not to, but as long as he wasn’t doing it to strangers it was okay for now.

| Post 3 Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler So it was Christmas break and the castle had practically no students left. Mum, however, had written to Emmeline telling her to stay at Hogwarts over the holidays, so the 11-year-old had decided to spend Christmas Eve with Sirius. Well, she'd be back tomorrow too, but today was ALL for her assigned cruppy. The first year trudged out to the infant nursery barn wrapped in her cloak, hat, and gloves; she had warming spells on her cloak now, because she'd sent one of them home to Nanny for charming, but she also knew how to cast bluebell flames and that other warming spell from Charms class if necessary. Emmeline slipped inside the nursery barn and quickly shut the door behind her. The icy winds blowing across the grounds, not to mention all the snow, made it way too cold to leave the door open for more than 2 seconds. She grabbed her usual supplies from the appropriate stations, plus a brush, and headed over to Sirius' kennel: "Hii Sirius, how're you today? It's almost Christmas!" She was planning to feed him some of his favorite cruppy treats that Professor Wayland had stored near the normal cruppy food in the nursery barn tomorrow. She wanted Sirius to get something for Christmas after all.
Sirius and Emmeline had a daily routine by now. The Gryffindor carefully measured out the amount of food that library book on cruppy care had told her to feed him twice a day and poured it into his food bowl. One quick water spell later and his water bowl was also full and ready for the day. Next, Emmeline freed the cruppy from his kennel and returned the bag of cruppy chow to its place while he inhaled his meal. The second the last of his kibble was gone, Sirius ran in circles around Emmeline, barking and wagging his tail like mad. She grinned at him and had to chase him around the barn a bit before he gave in and let her put his leash on. "You're such a silly boy today. Wanna go play fetch?" Emmeline knew that Sirius didn't understand much English, but he knew certain words by now like "food" and "fetch". Or maybe it was "play." Either way, Sirius's tail turned into even more of a whip because he was wagging it so hard. Emmeline laughed and led him out to the pasture thing behind the nursery.
The Gryffindor did NOT like being out in the cold, especially with so much snow everywhere, but Sirius loved playing in the snow. As soon as she'd secured the pasture door, Emmeline unhooked Sirius's leash, pulled a tennis ball out of her pocket and lobbed it across the pasture. Sirius was off like a flash, and she thought maybe he'd gotten faster as well as bigger since her last journal entry. Anyway, the cruppy was quick to scoop up the ball but just kept running around the pasture with it clutched in his mouth. "Bring it back, Sirius!", Emmeline called out.
She knew that the cruppy understood that phrase, at least somewhat, because he went from running around aimlessly to trotting around the other side of the pasture with his head held high, his tail wagging 100 miles a minute, and a veeerry smug air about him. The first year giggled; Sirius was always so proud of himself when he managed to get his ball. He rarely ever actually brought it back, although she knew he loved chasing the silly thing. She gave him a BIIIG grin in warning before chasing Sirius allllll around the pasture for a few hours. When he stopped to do his potty business, she cast the cleaning spells to vanish and then freshen up the area.
After a few hours (though she wasn't sure how long), Emmeline started to get kinda hungry and Sirius wasn't running as fast as he had in the beginning. She called him to her with his leash in hand, and this time the cruppy trotted over happily to her. He still held his ball firmly in his mouth, of course. The first year attached his leash and led him back inside the nursery to his kennel. Before putting him in, though, she picked up his brush from its spot and gave him several looong strokes with it. She didn't want any snow in his hair to melt, plus he needed brushing now and then.
Sirius had definitely gotten better about being brushed. Emmeline sat on the floor and barely had to hold him in place while she stroked him with the brush, and since he was sleepy, he ended up cuddling in her lap and resting his head on her leg. The Gryffindor beamed at him, and stayed cuddling her sleeping cruppy for a loooong time. Eventually, though, she carefully lifted him into his kennel and closed it up. Sirius opened his eyes when she picked him up, but he went back to sleep almost as soon as she'd set him down again. Waving goodbye, Emmeline put up the brush and the tennis ball on her way out of the nursery barn. She closed the door firmly behind her as she set off for the castle again, promising herself that she'd come down and see him again as soon as he'd had a few hours to sleep. |

| post 4 HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED There was one thing that the approaching spring, and her ever approaching birthday made Melbourne feel, it was forlorn. The nearly sixteen year old Gryffindor knew already that she wouldn’t want to give up the creature she had grown so close to over the term. ”Hey Darce,” she smiled down at the jarvey that was bundled up in the little Jarvey habitat that she had helped develop and set up those months ago.
So much had changed in those months, she was going to be an aunt soon…heck, she had had to go to a small baby shower for Amelia before the end of Winter Break because she hadn’t been sure if her…whatever Amelia was having was going to wait until she had gotten out of school for summer.
Knowing her luck she’d go into labor RIGHT when Mel was in her OWLs…but now, she didn’t need to think about her pregnant sister or the fact that she was going to be an aunt once more. Now, now she had to focus on Darcy Lewis her Jarvey that was now waking up for her daily dinner. ”you hungry Darce?” Mel asked as she lowered a little dish of mixed meats…maybe one of the meats in there was gnome? Mel wasn’t sure, it was someone Professor Wayland had provided this time as the brunette hadn’t been able to find meat for Darcy ahead of time…that, and Moriarty hadn’t delivered the last batch she had ordered from that creatures magazine she had ordered from. Such a pitty…she had been sure Darcy would have enjoyed fresh Jarvey snacks.
Looking back down at the little enclosure Mel just smiled as she watched Darcy cleaning her paws with delicate swipes of her pink tongue. Reaching her hand down Mel waited to see if Darcy would, like last time, crawl onto her hand…she didn’t, all Darcy did was brush the dry sand paper like tongue across the pads of her fingers trying to get any trace of the chicken Mel had eaten for dinner off of her hands. There was nothing there, of course, but that didn’t stop the Jarvey from trying.

| Post 4 Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler On Valentine's Day morning, Emmeline was up super early and bounding down the grounds towards the nursery barn. She was really excited for today, because it was a Hogsmeade weekend and she was going there with James Summers! She was also planning on looking all over the village for some special cruppy treats for Sirius, but for now she had some bacon bits wrapped up in a napkin for him. Everyone should get a treat on Valentine's Day, yup. The first year bounced into the barn and closed the door tightly behind her, grabbing all her usual Sirius stuff before heading over to her cruppy's kennel. "Good morning, Sirius! Happy Valentine's Day!", she told him in a kind of singsong voice. She was so excited for later, yeah, but she was also really excited that she had time to see Sirius before she had to go back to the castle to get ready.
She did the usual feeding and watering routine with her cruppy, and only when Sirius had eaten alll of his healthy cruppy food did she bend down to his level and feed him the bacon bits from her hand. Emmeline giggled 'cause his tongue was all slimy and he kept licking her hand after he'd eaten all the bacon like he thought there was more. "That's all, silly -- whoa!" Sirius had just flat-out jumped on her and was now licking her face! Emmeline fell over from her half crouched position in a fit of giggles, which only made the cruppy lick her face MORE. "Okay, okay. I love you too, Sirius," she gasped dramatically -- to make him wag his tail even more than he already was -- and gently pushed him off her. What a silly cruppy! He'd grown even more since Christmas, it seemed like, although it also felt like he wasn't growing as fast as he had done before the holidays.
Emmeline checked her watch and let out a small gasp of surprise. She didn't have a super lot of time today, since she had to go get ready for her thing with James and all, so she played a quick game of tug-of-war with Sirius before leading him outside the nursery barn to do his potty business. She vanished the potty stuff and led her cruppy back to his kennel. "Bye for now, Sirius! I'll see you later -- or tomorrow! Wish me luck!", she chirped as she rushed to put cruppy stuff away and head back to the castle. She was super careful to close the nursery doors behind her, though. Today was turning out perfect so far! |

| post 5 HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED Mel was ready for summer – she wasn’t really. That was entirely a lie. Really, the Gryffindor was just ready to get her dads to meet Kirk, after all it had hit her that she was going to be meeting his parents after the train…it may as well have been an excuse to not study for just a moment longer, studying. It was everything she ever did these days when she wasn’t managing to scrape up whatever time she could manage to be near Darce. She loved the way Darcy’s fur had changed colors and how her markings had become more defined over time. ”you look beautiful today deary,” she told her companion as she lowered a dish of food into her enclosure. Darcy immediately chirped and cursed at the dish before dashing forward and eating.
Darcy’s mits were white…but, well, sort of red as well from the cinnamon coloring of the rest of her fur. ”Hey bud…I could have named you Cinn but…I think that’d have been weird my sister works with a Cinn” she admitted with a laugh as she smiled at Darce. ”I don’t remember if I told you, but I brought up co-parenting you with Hadley the other day but she’s been so busy…” she paused before laughing ”nah…that’s a lie she’s not busy she’s just off somewhere being a mermaid” Mel winked at her Jarvey and reached her hand down waiting as Darce climbed onto her outstretched hand and began to curl up into a relaxed and comfortable ball almost immediately.

| #3 astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf The second year still was not so sure why older students got all obsessive and WEIRD around Valentine's Day. There just seemed to be copious amounts of unnecessary pressure and he SWORE he saw some older boys sweating nervously. Which seemed kinda silly to him since the day was supposed to be about appreciated the people important to you and whatever. Again though, Derf failed to see why it was different than any other day because, well, shouldn't you do that ALL the time?
Maybe he would understand when he was older. Probably not knowing him.
This sort of understanding was just not a priority understanding for him.
BUT ANYWAY!
Here he was back at the creature nursery with a VERY special friend for Picketta along with the usual offering of wood lice. Walking over to her tree,
it took the bowtruckle approximately four seconds to notice him before she was climbing down and scampering over to where Derf could easily pick her up. "I miss-s-sed you too," he greeted with a boyish giggle, gladly plucking her from the ground and setting her on his shoulder. "I brought you s-someone. You remember my friend Natalie? The one who looks-s-s like a mermaid from muggle fairy tales but without the tale becaus-se she is in human form?" Trust him, it made sense and was a description exclusive to Natalie. "She got something that s-she thought you might enjoy! Was-n't that NICE of her?" Just offering the bowtruckle a gentle reminder over here, nothing to see.
Grinning, the second year fished through his enchanted trouser pockets and maneuvered around Scamander who was sleeping inside until he felt IT. "TADA!" he BEAMED, pulling forth the stick bearing a great likeness to an actual bowtruckle and wiggled it at Picketta. "S-She found you a Mr. Picketta!" Because that was clearly how these things worked, you know? Of course, he was not being serious - he would hope that Picketta would fancy herself a Mr. Picketta when she was READY - but it was alright to tease a little, right? He got teased about girls and Abey sometimes by older students and since he was older than Picketta it all lined up logically. Yup.
Sitting while making a sort of bowl with his legs, he let Picketta down and set the stick flat on the ground for her to get acquainted with. He didn't think much of her circling around the stick and he even held it upright like one of those Ken dolls for her to get the FULL effect. But then Picketta started doing a bit of this weird...shimmy sort of dance thing. She was flicking her head leaves and wiggling and.... "Oh? OH! S-So you DO like him!" he chirped as Picketta gave the stick a SUPER tight hug.

| Post 5 Gryffindor for life Notorious Niffler Summer was approaching way too fast in Emmeline's opinion. She was glad that there wasn't any more icky snow, though there was loads of rain to replace it, but the end of term meant her friends all separating for the summer. She'd taken it for granted that all year she was able to find her friends and go hang out or talk to them whenever she wanted, and she would miss everyone soooo much this summer. That went for Sirius, too. Professor Wayland hadn't said any more about them possibly adopting their babies yet, so Emmeline wasn't really sure where her assigned cruppy would be spending his summer. So she had taken to visiting him at every possible moment that could be squeezed into her schedule. These thoughts swirled in her head as the first year skipped down to the infant creatures nursery from the castle. She let the door fall shut behind her as she entered and gathered up her usual cruppy supplies.
As she made her way over to Sirius' kennel, she called out to him: "Hiii Sirius! How're you today?" She got a small yip! from the cruppy in return. Emmeline filled up his food and water bowls and returned the big bag of cruppy food to its spot before she let Sirius out. His tail was wagging like crazy as always, and Emmeline took advantage of the fact that he got super focused on eating by brushing him while he ate. That done, she clipped his leash onto his red collar and led him into the pasture attached to the nursery. "Wanna play fetch?", she asked the cruppy as she showed him the tennis ball that she'd hidden in her pocket earlier. Sirius's eyes were fastened onto that ball and he was running for it before the ball had even left her hand! As she watched him running around, it occurred to Emmeline that it was pretty amazing how big he'd gotten from the tiiiny thing he'd been when she'd first been assigned to look after him.
The Gryffindor chased him around the pasture and played a combination of Fetch and Keep Away for at least two hours before it was almost curfew time. She made a face 'cause she didn't want to leave yet, but she hooked Sirius up to his leash and led him back inside anyway. They had to stop on the way in for Sirius to go potty, and for her to Evanesco it away. Gross! Sirius was worth the occasional grossness though, she reflected as she led him back to his kennel. "Byeee Sirius, see you tomorrow!", she told him with a biiiig smile. Emmeline gathered up his leash and any other equipment that belonged in the nursery and put it all away on her way out. She'd have to run to make it back to Gryffindor Tower before curfew, but getting to play lots with Sirius was SO worth it. The first year sent the nursery barn one last, wistful look before she faced forward and raced back to the castle. |

| Post 3 Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict She had important information she needed to tell Albus, which meant Stasya had to go to the nursery after she’d gone to tell Dobby and pretty much all the other animals in the barn. Important information couldn’t wait, especially when she was totally planning on trying to take the puffskein home with her after term was over. Unless Profesor Wayland preferred they stay here for a while longer, but he had said they could adopt their creatures. That meant Albus would be hers, no matter what, and also maybe if she’d managed to take awesome care of him she would be that much more close to getting a Granian, or a winged horse in general. Considering she knew Derf had Operation Goat underway already, she was branching out. But for now, she had her puffskein to take care of.
Her puffskein who, as she’d gotten to his cage and he’d rolled up to the door to greet her with a flick of his tongue and a little squeaky sound, had gotten obviously bigger. More than he had over the Christmas holiday, but he still wasn’t that much bigger than her squirrel was. Just way fluffier. “Hi Albus! Guess what?,” she said, opening the cage and letting him roll into her hands before she continued. “Mama is going to have a baby so I’m going to be a big sister!” Important news, and she let him respond with a couple more little squeaks before she let him down to the ground to explore while she cleaned out the cage. First, getting rid of any messes, which was easy since she could use her wand, and then she took the blankets and the rest of his little nest out so she could scrub the floor of the cage out better. Afterward, she returned the blanket nest to the corner of the cage, made sure there was fresh water in the bowl and ran to get some puffskein food from the storage area nearby. Keeping an eye on the wandering puffskein of course, but actually he’d just sort of rolled after her. “I’m not leaving, silly. Not yet.”
She had to feed him first, and after she did that she lifted him back up to his cage so he could eat. “I’ll come back soon, Albus. I promise. And maybe I’ll try and make you some cookies or something,” she said, giving him another stroke on his back as he ate. It couldn’t be that much harder than trying to make Derf wood lice cookies for Picketta, after all. Maybe she could use earwax Bertie Bott’s beans for them, since the puffskein liked licking her ear. She didn’t really want to use actual earwax.

| Post #4. Sarah thinks I'm cute | Shan's safe space.
There was a slight spring breeze in the air, but Felicity didn't mind as she almost skipped her way down to the Nursery, free from the heavy cloak that she was usually wearing. The sky seemed clear today, but she was starting to get used to the unpredictable Scottish weather - if it started raining in ten minutes, she'd be annoyed, but not necessarily surprised. She realised when she reached the barn door that the pockets of her jacket contained an apple and a few sugar cubes, but no Ehwaz pendant, and Flick frowned slightly, before biting her lip and shrugging the worry away. Of course, using the rune had definitely helped her bond with her Aethonian, but surely by now they'd interact in the same way without it? After all, it had been nearly nine months.
As soon as she headed over to Floyd's stall, any worry that the fourth year may have had melted away, for she was greeted with an excited neigh, and an eagerness for the winged horse to get out of the stall. Felicity couldn't help but giggle, before lifting the latch and stepping into the stall. "Hey, Floyd. How are you today?" she murmured softly in the horse's ear, before taking to her coat with a brush. Taking her time, for it was a Saturday afternoon and she had finished all of her homework that morning, Flick proceeded through the motions of brushing the Aethonian, clearing out her pen and refilling her food and water trough, before leading her out into the pasture. She glanced up at the coat hung on the wall, but shook her head - it was definitely far too warm out to need that.
Another glance up at the sky, and a cloud had started to cross the sun. Felicity scowled, leading to a troubled nudge from Floyd's nose, which enticed her to right her smile again. "Ready to play?" Taking the handful of sugar cubes from her pocket, she pulled out her wand, too. "Wingardium Leviosa," she muttered, aiming at one of the cubes and watching it levitate into the air, before forcing it to go higher. Just when she thought that Floyd wasn't in the mood, the foal jumped high and spread her wings, grabbing the sugar before landing unsteadily on her bony legs.
"YES, brilliant, girl!" They played that game for a while, Felicity letting the foal fly after the little bits of sugar, before the sun was suddenly completely covered, and she looked up to a drop of rain landing on her forehead. "Okay, Floyd, time to go in."
Leading the horse back to her stall, the Slytherin dug into her pocket for the apple, offering it to the happy animal before going about rearranging its rumpled feathers.

| Post 4 Shoe!Girl │ Rebel Ravie │ Confundus Queen │ RP Addict The cookie experiment hadn’t been going very well, even if she was still proud of the wood lice ones she’d made for Derf to give Picketta. Stasya wasn’t about to give up, but so far she didn’t have anything for Albus. Aside from the treats and food that Professor Wayland had, that is. She knew that eventually she’d figure something special out for her puffskein, and besides, if the professor let her adopt him at the end of term she’d have lots of time to continue her experiments. Therefore, she didn’t exactly have anything for him as she made her way back down to the nursery, but she kept a big smile on her face. That would have to be good enough for now. She didn’t think the puffskein would be too disappointed, either.
The weather wasn’t the best, but her pink umbrella had kept the drizzle off her during her walk, and she shook most of the moisture off it just inside the doorway. Thankfully Albus’ cage was inside, so she’d be able to stay dry without the umbrella during her visit. Leaning it against the wall near the door, she stopped off at the storage area to grab food, along with a couple of puffskein treats before she made her way over to the cage. “Hi Albus!,” she greeted the rolling ball of fur as he poked his tongue out through the cage in greeting. Setting the small container of food on the ground, she unlocked the cage and let him roll onto her hand. “Pretty soon you’ll be too big,” she observed, giggling as the fluff threatened to overtake her hand. Maybe next time she’d have to use both hands, even, but that was kind of cool. She didn’t need all her pets to be tiny, after all.
She did have to set him down in order to go about checking the cage to see if it needed cleaning. Mostly, she just had to vanish any messes the puffskein had left, wondering if it was possible to train him to go to the bathroom in a specific place. It was something to try out anyway, but not today. Eventually. She was just glad he managed to stay out of said messes, since otherwise she’d have to give him way more baths and he didn’t seem to like being wet. “Is it because water makes you way less fluffy?,” she asked, conversationally, sitting on the floor to let him roll into her lap to get fed. It was a theory, anyway. Not one she felt like testing right now, not when he was being all cute and cuddly.

Oh Merlin. As the term went by, Vivian found it harder to fit another visit to Goldilocks in her schedule. What with the piles of homework she had to make, the fourth year tried to adjust a couple of things just so she could come over for her lovely niffler. She made it a point to offer cuddles to make up for the times Niffler Mama Vivian had failed to do well as a creature parent.
Vivian made sure she had finished all her homework early, so she definitely had free time right now. Run!skipping her way to the nursery, she went as fast as her legs could take her. Once she arrived, it didn't take her long to spot the cage where her baby Goldilocks was sleeping in. The Slytherin kneeled down to take a peek of her niffler and smiled softly at the sight. "Looks like the princess is still asleep," she said and sighed. Vivian carefully opened the cage and gingerly took her ickle creature in one arm, cradling Goldilocks while humming a lullaby.
Look at that precious! The fourth year just wanted to gush at how adorable her baby creature was. And she couldn't wait to officially adopt him, that's for sure! She was going to make things official.
Still cradling Goldilocks and making sure she sleeps safe and sound, Vivian took out her wand. "Scourgify," the blonde said quietly as the cage cleaned itself with her spell. "Tergeo." For good measure. Vivian didn't want her precious kiddo to sleep in a dirty cage. No, no, no! Her blue eyes momentarily looked back at her sleeping niffler just in case the cutie decided to wake up. Oh, and she should also fill that water container up just in case. "Aguamenti," she said, pointing her wand at the container and watching as the water gushed out of it. "Finite." There you go! Hopefully this would surprise her ickle one when she woke up.
But sadly, Vivian couldn't stay long. She still had a few letters to write for certain people. The blonde carefully returned her niffler back inside her cage and closed it. Poor thing was probably really tired as she didn't flinch a muscle the entire time. Oh well. "M'sorry I couldn't be around when you were awake, but I'll make it up to you, Goldilocks." She waved a finger at the creature before standing up and making her way to the Owlery.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Natasha Shenoy Slytherin Fourth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Andrea Bowen Gryffindor Fifth Year | Post 1 [ EEEK. Too late but I'm going to try <3 ] SUMMER FOREVER Etta was super, SUPER excited to say the least. She was going to take care of a male baby Puffskein! EEEEEEP. How exciting was that?! She happily skipped her way down to the grounds, humming a happy tune. It was a good day, yep. Walking down the nursery, she peeked into each cage until she finally saw one that had her name attached to it. .. and there it was. She sat on her knees, staring in wonder at the little creature. Wasn't it the cutest?! She admired it for a little while before slowly getting up and walked into the cage, careful not to make any sudden noises. The girl didn't want to end up scaring the creature during their first meeting itself.. yeah? That would be sad.
The Hufflepuff took a few steps towards it, leaning down to pet him. AWW. He was so cuddly and adorable. "Hi, there. I'm Etta and your name is...." She paused, tilting her head to the side in thought. HMM. What name would suit him? She looked down at him for a minute or two before she grinned. Heh. "... Fluffy. Your name is Fluffy." Yeah. It really did suit him, didn't it. "Nice to meet you, Fluffy." She held him in her arms and continued petting the baby creature gently.

| #4 astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf So...Derf was curious about something. Arithmancy was HARD and stuff...but so far studying and practicing things with Picketta had helped him LEARN things better. Numbers were fascinating, but hard to do, you know? So if his bowtruckle's influence could help then all the better!
Hurrying over to her tree - and finding Picketta talking with the stick Natalie had given him to give to her yet again - Derf grinned and clicked his tongue to her in greeting. He liked to think he was learning bowtruckle from her kinda like how he was learning Mermish from Dora. "I thought you could help be s-study Arithmancy today," he informed the bowtruckle as she climbed down to greet him, her leaves affectionately brushing his cheek as she got comfortable on his shoulder. "I know I know. It s-seems boring but maybe we can find s-s-something interesting," he assured her as he slid to the ground and pulled the small tin of woodlice from his pocket for her. Picketta instantly began chirping and making all kinds of eager clicking noises in his direction. "Not that's-s rather unkind. I'm offended you thought I would forget to bring you some," he scolded affectionately as he removed the lid and held it up for her to devour a few.
Picketta soon climbed down from his shoulder and perched herself on his thigh, pointing to the spot beside her for Derf to set the box down there as well. Which he did and then pulled from his enchanted briefcase his textbook. "Now...we're gonna do something with...P...well something with the letters being connected with numbers," he explained while pointing to a part of the page. "You s-see here? The P in Picketta is associated with the number 7! That's a special number, you know." If she didn't then, well she did now. "So...7...9...3...2...5...2...2...1 are all the numbers with your name."
Um...now what was he going to do with this? Derf scrolled down the page a bit. The mention of birth certificate was a bit...off putting. Did bowtruckles have something like that? And what WAS Picketta's bowtruckle name? You know, the one before he named her. He was not fluent enough in bowtruckle to understand that even if she were to answer his question. Life goal, he supposed.
"So...we add all thes-se up and get....um..." he continued, ruffling his own hair a little with his tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth in concentration. "...get...31...but you gotta reduce that too sooooooooo....4...which meaaaaaaans... Your mission in life is to build something of lasting value. Your purpose is to be realistic and hard-working, all while keeping order and decorum so that security is assured. Learning to express traditional values and being loyal and constant will move you toward your destiny. You're destined for managing and methodizing. Create the foundation and build on it." He paused a moment to consider this. "That actually sounds quite a bit like you, don't you think?"
Although Picketta was hardly paying attention to him seeing as her like of sugared woodlice was taking priority at the moment.
Oh well. At least he had finally successfully calculated a Destiny Number now.

| Post 2! *motivates self* LOLZ YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers Perhaps it was the lack of her watch, but other than that fateful day in the Fall, Skylar had been a horrible niffler mama. With classes and homework and study sessions and boyfriend time occupying her time these past few months, not to mention the cold weather, she kept making excuses to not retrieve her watch. But now that the sun was starting to return to Hogwarts and things were calming down just a bit, she was out of excuses.
If she wanted to be able to adopt her niffler and bring him home, something her mother would totally endorse, she needed to visit more. And give him a name. Snitch, because it was shiny and golden and reminded her of what nifflers liked .... Not to mention the quidditch relation, which totally boosted its value. "Hey Snitch," She smiled, leaning over the pen, the fluffy black creature foraging in the hay but looked up at her. He liked the name, she decided. Better than Shin-ee or Nifty. "So it's been awhile, but I think you have something of mine. Drop it." She said firmly, giving it a look.
A look that it paid no attention to, as it just stared back for a brief moment, looking all innocent. And waiting for the drink that the fourth year had given it last time. "If you give it back, I'll introduce you to a lady friend." She tried to bargain with it, yet felt defeated. With a sigh, she shook her head. "Fine, whatever. Keep it. Aquamenti," she cast, filling his water bowl and setting it down, before securing the latch and heading back to the castle.
She needed more research. Clearly. But hey, at least she had figured out his name, other than stubborn donkey.

| Post 3 XD BOOMBAYAH! | #PuedoPorquePiensoQuePuedo | Certified Blank and Random Person | Raventastic Walking to the nursery, Ava made sure that she had everything in her bag to take care of her crup pup. She missed Kara really badly and considered to adopt it but well... How about Preston then? She wouldn't be concerned whether or not her parents agreed about her adopting the crup because technically she would turn seventeen this summer and she's capable enough to make this decision by herself.
Anyway, where was her baby?
"There you are, Kara!" She grinned as the crup pup ran towards her and licked her face. See? This pup had been attached to her so what made her not to adopt this adorable creature being? "How about if I brush your hair?" Ava took a special crup brush from her bag and started brushing Kara's hair veryyyyy gently. It wasn't easy because her crup wouldn't stop moving! "Keep calm, baby." The Gryffindor whispered while her hand kept brushing the hair. Goodness, look at those shed hair!
Taking care this crup just reminded her about her practical OWL. "Okay, now it's time to brush your teeth!" Hehe. This was fun, wasn't it? She only provided the toothbrush but luckily Professor Wayland had the crup toothpaste. Taking the paste, Ava put a small amount of paste on the brush. Then she gently opened Kara's mouth and hold it while she started brushing the teeth. "Keep calm, Kara. Inonow you didn't really like it but your teeth need to be clean, okay?" She said to the crup and hopefully it would calm the crup down. She gently brushed the teeth and gums because it also needed to be brushed. Once the brushing teeth was done, she rinsed the crup's mouth by casting aguamenti. "Now you have such a killer smile with this teeth."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Natasha Shenoy Slytherin Fourth Year Hogwarts RPG Name: Andrea Bowen Gryffindor Fifth Year | Post 2 SUMMER FOREVER Etta made her way back to the nursery to check on her Fluffy. She was so looking forward to seeing him.. and more than anything, to cuddle him. He was too cute, wasn't he? Maybe she could end up adopting him. Hopefully. She'd definitely like to see more of him. The girl walked to the cage, the corners of her lips lifting up in a huge smile. "Hi, there! Do you remember me? Etta?" She cast a scourgify first to clean the area properly. It really wasn't that dirty to start with but you know, it was better to be safe for hygiene purposes. She sat down on the clean ground, carefully reaching for Fluffy and placing him on her lap.
She gently stroked his hair for a while.. when it started to emit a sound. It was almost like he was humming. UH! She looked surprised for a moment before she resumed stroking his hair again.. and there it was! That sound. "Are you happy? Do you like it, hmm?" She giggled and played with him for a while before setting him down for a moment.
She reached for a water bowl and filled it with water by casting an aguamenti, thinking that he was thirsty probably.. and she was right. She watched as the cute little creature immediately started to drink the water. He must be hungry too, yeah? Wait. She paused, frowning a little before getting up. She picked up the food bowl and headed outside to the supply area, filled with some appropriate things for Fluffy to eat before heading back to the pen. "Hey, I'm back." The girl set down the bowl and looked down at Fluffy for a moment as he started to eat. She was going to have to bathe him the next time. He was a bit stinky, wasn't he?

| #1 : Backtracking to beginning of the school year ∞ 17 | RP entrepreneur | defies gravity | Miss George is flawless | blanket burrito lyfe His note from Professor Wayland had arrived at the perfect time.. Rooney had been in the middle of organising his Head Boy duties alongside his class schedule and his study schedule. Plus any audition dates he already knew, his university application deadlines and anything else that was going to be thrown at him. Including tutoring for money to go in his wedding fund or life fund or whatever the money in the tin was used for in the end. But the fact he was being trusted to be responsible for the exact creature he had wanted was....well it was perfect and Rooney was DELIGHTED that he was now the proud owner looker-afterer of an Augurey.
He'd had no time to wait around for the people in his life and dashed the whole way from Ravenclaw Tower to the nursery, grin plastered eagerly over his face. He'd planned the PERFECT name for his bird. The PERFECT life already. And luckily he had this chance -- because he honestly had thought that their Professor was going to be unfair and give him something basic so he didn't get overwhelmed in his final year.
THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS OVERWHELMED IN ROONEY BRONWYN'S LIFE.
Roo's eyes widened as he skidded to a halt before the cage with his name on it, before he quickly blinked away the tears. "Fiyero, you're so beautiful." See. Perfect name for the perfect Augurey. No matter how mournful Fiyero looked, he was honestly more beautiful than anyone Rooney had ever come across. This must have been what parenthood felt like. Overwhelming love in such a short amount of time. He took a few tentative steps towards the cage and tilted his head to get a proper look at what it was he was going to be handling for the rest of his forever. That's what this was, right? This was practically a lifelong relationship. He and a creature. Hopefully this year went good and Fiyero didn't escape or attack him or whatever could potentially happen. Rooney hadn't done too much research yet, given that he hadn't wanted to jinx him getting what he had wanted and therefore had no clue what he was to expect so far.
What he did know was that he was going to give Fiyero some food (insects, of course) and give this cage a clear out. Baby birds honestly pooped as much as baby humans. Yikes. At least it didn't look as bad there. Carefully, not the scare the bird, Rooney unlatched the cage and swept an open gloved and friendly hand across the bottom to take out what he could without causing any distress. That way, he could get the chick to come to him with the food and clean the rest out whilst it ate.
Fiyero wouldn't fly away yet, right? He wouldn't just LEAVE without hearing Rooney Bronwyn SING. Right? Handful of insects, Roo tempted Fiyero towards him with the same opened hand until the chick was perched on his fingertips. In his softest voice, Rooney whispered again how beautiful he thought his Augurey was before bringing the chick towards his chest with the insects. How small and delicate... how sweet... He had purposely left his wand hand free to clean the rest of the cage out, pointing the wood inside and casting softly. "Scourgify!" Softly... so the bird didn't FLY AWAY.
NO. FLYING. AWAY.
With Fiyero fed and his cage cleaned, Rooney has sat down with the chick in his lap and sang for at least half an hour of his free period before returning Fiyero to his cage and taking himself back to the castle.
THIS WAS SO THE BEST DAY EVER.
