| | Headmistress's Office The oak door opens into a circular room where nothing is out of place. The curtains are evenly drawn apart to bring in the natural lighting without there being too much light, provided by the sun or moon, pouring into the room. Scattered about are lavender candles that never seem to lower no matter how long the wick burns, which are strategically placed to avoid upsetting the portraits adorning the walls when lit at night and when the weather is cloudy. Rain or shine, the perfect amount of light fills the room throughout all hours of the day.
Looking around the office with an assertive eye, you can learn much about the woman who resides here. Books of all kinds -- thin, thick, old, and new -- fill several bookcases, their titles covering topics from hexes and curses to ancient runes and history. A number of interesting-looking artefacts that Headmistress Hawthorne found on her many Curse-Breaking escapades around the world rest in glass curio cabinets, free of any dust and heavily protected. Some of these items include, but are not limited to, the claw of a sphinx, cracked ashwinder eggs, a fossilized skeleton of a White River Monster, a metal brass Indian tea cup (former home of an Occamy), and various gems and coins. On a shelf closest to her desk rests a polished gramophone, which is known to play vinyl records of Stevie Nicks, among others, from time to time.
In the centre of the room stands a grand desk. On the desk itself are various frames containing pictures that capture the headmistress's fondest memories: her wearing a Head Girl badge on the grounds of Ilvermorny, her and several others having just made a great historical find deep within an Egyptian tomb, her holding a newborn clad in a pink blanket with a man's body purposefully cropped off, and several more. The remainder of the desk consists of neat piles of paperwork and an intricate golden hourglass, covered in runes, that will begin steadily dropping sand the moment conversation begins, signifying how much time you have left in the office.
Placed directly in front of the desk are two visitor's chairs that have blue and cranberry cushions placed on them for maximum comfort. Here is where the more serious conversations will be held, whereas the more light-hearted conversations may be moved to the the small sitting area behind the headmistress's desk where plush sofas can be found. OOC: The gargoyle must step aside before you are able to enter the office. Those who post in this thread must either know the password to go beyond the gargoyle or be accompanied by the headmistress or a professor. Posting in the office without properly bypassing the gargoyle will result in your post being removed.

| Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch With the first of the challenges on the way, Regina had been keeping to her office finalising details when not making her appearances at the feast or doing her magic with runes in the classroom. This was one of those days where she had been cooped up in her office, responding to owls and sticking her head in green flames. Specifics needed to be relayed onto various departments of the Ministry, the Board needed to be notified about some logistics, and she had to get the Prophet off her case by doing an interview with them about the competition. All in a day's work.
The headmistress had just set aside a piece of parchment when one of the photographs on her desk caught her eye. Not the one of her in the tomb, but the one next to it -- the one with a baby wrapped in a blanket being held by a man that had been cropped off. A sigh left her body. That little girl was now a teenager, one who was now visiting her school, one who apparently wouldn't see her in spite of being summoned hours ago.
Another parchment, the next in the pile, was grabbed as the woman looked away. Memories were flooding back in her mind, which she had tried so hard to flush out because they were the ones that tore her apart.
Minutes later, she heard the gargoyle guarding her office move aside. It was at that moment the parchment was set down. Regina then rose from her chair and placed a hand on the edge of her desk, waiting for the door to open.

| ♥s her SS family l Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler l Whittysaur l #awkwardturtle<# At first Ronnie thought that the gargoyle would refuse to move for her, but after a moment it had the common sense to do just that. Good. It wouldn't have boded well if she had been refused access to see her mother - even if she didn't WANT to see her in the first place.
After a moment of hesitation, she began to climb the stairs to the office, wondering what on earth her mother wanted to talk to her about. Probably wanted to catch up on things. Well, if she had cared about Ronnie, she wouldn't have wanted that divorce from dad; she would have wanted to make their family work despite everything to happen. Needless to say that by the time she reached the door, she was in a rather agitated state.
Ronnie didn't even bother to knock, instead letting herself in. "You wanted to see me?" |

| Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch For an instant, she was quite taken aback that the person the gargoyle had stepped aside for didn't knock on the door. However, that feeling quickly dispersed when she saw the spitting image of her teenage self walk into her office. Only the girl wasn't her former self at all. No, this was quite a different person. It was only half of her. The other half, well, that side of the photograph on her desk had been cropped off on purpose.
Regina's heart skipped a beat the moment Veronica spoke. At first the woman didn't know quiet what to do. She hadn't been this physically close to her since her last year as a professor at Ilvermorny. Since then, she had grown quite a bit. It pained her to not have been very involved given the circumstances, but she was proud nonetheless. The girl was still her daughter.
"Yes, actually. I did wish to see you," the headmistress finally spoke. "I'm -- I'm glad you stopped by."
There was a moment of silence, during which the woman just stood there with a hand on her desk as she took in the thirteen year old. Her hand then moved, making a gesture toward the seating area behind her desk. "Would you like to sit, Ronnie?"

Her mom was looking at her, and Ronnie wasn't sure how to take it, so she settled on looking everywhere BUT at her. In spite of how she was feeling, she had to admit that this was a rather nice looking office. It wasn't the books that interested her, but the trinkets scattered here and there. Despite how she felt about her mother, she had to admit that she had led a very interesting life.
At being addressed, she finally turned her attention to the woman who had decided to break up their perfect family. As much as she didn't really WANT to be here, she supposed that she could sit down and chat for a little. But if things started to go south, she would be out that door in no time. "Okay," Ronnie said as she sat down in one of the chairs. Now what was this about? |
