| | Fruit Bowl In the corridor outside, one will find a large painting of a bowl of fruit. As you stare at it, you cannot help but feel your tummy rumble. Those bananas and grapes and apples look absolutely delicious. If hungry enough, one might find themselves reaching out a hand with the hope that the food will jump right out of its frame. Just don't freak out if you tickle the pear, causing it to squirm, laugh at you, and transform into a green door-knob...
You'll be glad hunger got the better of you this time. I guarantee it. |

Sully was hungry, she didn't want to wait until dinner to eat, she NEEDED snack right now!!!! So off she bounced to the kitchens ready to eat. She loved seeing all the house elves at work and she loved to talk to them. They were all so cute!! She couldn't wait to get in there.
Sully was running so fast she nearly smacked into the painting of the giant bowl of fruit!!! Dang, she forgot about this, she had to remember how to get in here right..
O right, tickle the .... umm.... the apple right?? Sully gave it a try and nothing happened! "Just open already!!!!" She cried to the door as her stomach rumbled.

Visiting the little house elves in the kitchens seemed like a good idea to Rosalyn; it had been a while since she had said hello to them and there was also the prospect of a snack. No way would she refuse the opportunity.
Looked like she wasn't the only one who felt that way, because there was Miss Sullivan. Rosalyn was about to tell the girl that running was a bad idea because she could get hurt... when she ran smack into the painting. "Are you alright?" she asked in concern, wondering if she would be okay or if she needed River. Maybe not as she was almost immediately going about trying to tickle the apple. She'd keep an eye out, but by the look of things everything was okay. "Close, but it's the pear that needs tickling," she offered with a friendly smile. |

"AHH" But she composed her self quickly enough! She hadn't expected to see anyone down here, let alone a Professor. Then Sully was worried that she wasn't suppose to be down here at this time. Maybe .... there were new rules about when you could got the kitchen.... "I'm alright, thanks"
She turned a slight shade of red....but then the Professor mentioned the Pear. "OOOOOOO!!!! That's right the pear!" Sully smiled, at least she wasn't in trouble. and she could still get her snack. "For some reason I thought it was the apple!" She added with another smile. "How are you Professor." Well she couldn't be rude now that she bumped into a teacher.

The small scream was rather alarming, and Rosalyn started slightly though she did manage to keep her composure. Making a student feel potentially worse for something was the last thing that she wanted to do right now. At least everything seemed to be okay and there was no need to call for River. The less that his services were needed the better in her opinion; hopefully she wouldn't be stepping into the Hospital Ward at all this term - either for herself or for a student. "Well, that's an easy mistake to make," Rosalyn assured Sarah with a smile. Really it was something that a lot of people would probably do. "I am pretty good. Excited for this term; I think it's going to be a good one. How are you? Did you have a good summer?" It was always nice to catch up with the students, especially after the holidays when everyone was enjoying life away from Hogwarts. |

Sully had spent most of it dealing with relatives that wouldn't go way and people constantly bringing food over for them as if because her mother died they suddenly couldn't cook. There was only so much casserole a person could eat.
But then again Sully didn't think the Professor wanted to hear that story. "The Holiday was good. All these foreigners are something aren't they?" Sully added thinking of all the people from America she had seen running around the castle! Crazy Business!

It seemed as if something was a bit off about Sarah, but Rosalyn did not want to pry into it; if the girl wanted to talk about whatever it was, she surely knew that Rosalyn would listen and offer whatever help she could - if that was possible. "Oh yes, it's rather exciting. I've always found other wizarding schools to be fascinating." There were differences, but in the end there was the one goal of furthering magical education. Of course she preferred Hogwarts to Durmstrang, though part of that was the fact that this had been the school she attended. "I kind of wish that they had done something like this when I was a student; it would be quite fun to take part in challenges." Of course she was just happy for her students who were given the opportunity to do so. |

Olivia had needed a desperate break from studying so she decided to take a walk around the castle. She decided that it was too, too cold to go outside so she opted to stay indoors. After twenty minutes of exploring, she found herself on the kitchen level of the castle.
Her eyes widened when she saw the painting of the fruit bowl and she smiled, remembering how she had met up with a Henry here last year. Ah what a fantastic time. She had found the kitchens thanks to his help and was able to now stuck up on delicious treats and tea!

Professors at Hogwarts had been assigning way too much homework lately, in Emmeline's opinion. She was not enjoying the frigid weather either, even though she still made daily trips to the nursery barn and back to the castle to visit Sirius. Even the cruppy had quickly tired of the cold today and decided that he needed to spend more time sleeping in his kennel. Which meant that Emmeline had to go back inside, because she'd officially run out of excuses for not doing her homework now.
The thought of writing made the first year shudder slightly. She still had time to explore a little, didn't she? Emmeline was eager to learn all of the castle's secrets -- or at least one or two by the end of the school year. So she had taken to wandering the corridors and opening random doors to see where they led. Sadly, she'd only found a bunch of unused classrooms so far, but she hadn't tried any doors between the Great Hall and the dungeons yet. Emmeline bounced down the corridor and tried every unlocked door along the corridor before one finally revealed something interesting. A staircase! She looked around furtively for teachers in case students weren't meant to go down them, before bounding the stairs two at a time.
She had expected any corridor that had stairs going down from the ground floor to be gloomy and dungeon-y like the Potions room. To her delight, however, she found herself in a comfortable, earthy passageway full of interesting portraits. And -- another Gryffindor! Emmeline didn't hesitate to bounce over to the older girl and greet her excitedly: "Hiii, Miss Olivia! Whatcha doing?" She didn't mean to be nosy, and this fruit painting was cool and all, but it was a little weird that her Housemate was just looking at this one when there were lots of other paintings down this corridor. |

She didn't mean to be nosy, and this fruit painting was cool and all, but it was a little weird that her Housemate was just looking at this one when there were lots of other paintings down this corridor. Her thoughts had drifted from meeting Henry and went to another person. She had been so lost in her thoughts, debating about possible actions she could take when she didn't even hear another person approach her. Hii Miss Olivia? Miss Olivia? Huh? Who was calling her? She turned her gaze and then saw ickle adorable Emmeline there. This young girl was always a breath of fresh air and managed to bring a smile to her lips. " Hi Emmeline!" Whoops. Maybe she could have called her Miss Emmeline? Probably too late? " Umm.. I was just lost in my thoughts... I began by reminiscing. I met a good friend by this painting... and then my thoughts wandered elsewhere. I seem to be stuck in my thoughts a lot lately." Life was busy and she needed time to slow down and process it all. There were friend things, boy things-- or boy thing, OWLS, and the IMPS all going on plus classes. It was a lot to think about. Life was moving quickly. And she had probably rambled.
Anyway, not wanting to bore Emmeline, Olivia smiled. " What are you up to? Off to the kitchens for a snack?" she asked. That was something Olivia did a lot when she was taking study breaks. She'd come down to the kitchens for a cup of tea and shortbread and then walk up seven flights of stairs to get back to her common room. Sometimes she thought that she ought to just study in the kitchens but the stair climbing was always a way to get her mind off of studying. " Or are you just exploring around the castle?"

Since Emmeline only called fourth years and older "Mr./Miss", she would have been kind of disturbed to be called Miss Emmeline. That this might disturb teenagers in the same way didn't even occur to the first year; older kids wanted respect and most times they deserved it. Miss Olivia H. certainly did!
She nodded along as Miss Olivia talked about being lost in her thoughts. She wondered briefly what "reminiscing" meant, but she wasn't going to ask -- she wanted to seem all smart and grown up-ish in front of her Housemates. Emmeline tilted her head to the side a little and asked: "Are you lost in good thoughts, Miss Olivia?" She hoped so, because being lost in bad thoughts would not be fun at all.
Miss Olivia's next question made Emmeline's eyes light up with excitement. [b]"The kitchens are around here??!", she asked as she looked around expectantly. She kind of thought a new door would have magically appeared in the corridor, or at least some kind of sign to show her where the kitchen was when Miss Olivia mentioned it. No such luck. "Uh huh, I want to find alllll the castle's secrets," she confided in answer to Miss Olivia's question about exploring. She wondered suddenly if Miss Olivia knew any secrets; it wasn't cheating to ask a Housemate, right? "D'you know any?" she blurted out. |
