| | Flying Lesson 2: Broom Control Banner credit: Suziella The sky above the pitch was grey and hazed on this rather chilly April afternoon. Although the sun had warmed the grass all morning it was now nowhere to be seen, completely hidded behind a thick veil of clouds. Mr. Baldvinsson squinted as he looked up at the towering stands surrounding the pitch. There was a slight drizzle and it wouldn't take long until the rain started falling more heavily.
He lazily mounted his broom in his usual laid back position and hovered around the pitch awaiting the arrival of the students. He hoped they were all wearing clothes that could stand against the rain. It looked like a bit of a storm was gathering...
Which was perfect.

She was sad that class was ending. She didn't plan on playing Quidditch but it was fun. She sure didn't want to get sick from this blasted weather. She rushed into the common room and quickly got changed before her next class.

Zooming forward to catch the quaffle, she took note of Daisy looking around for a partner and was about to extend the offer for the older snake to join them as well, when it seemed Henry was going to play with her. Well, good thing wasn't a competition because that wasn't particularly fair as the two had played together - in the chaser role - all last Summer (at least).
And with that, the bludgers were released and Skylar almost dropped the quaffle in excitement because bludgers. Quickly tossing the familiar red ball through the air in the direction of the second year, the fourth year flew down to take hold of a bat because someone needed to be hitting the bludgers away from the inexperienced flyers ... "Emmaline! Look out!" Sky said as the small dark ball was headed right towards the first year! Zooming fast at her, she swung her bat just in time to send the bludger spiraling towards the other end of the pitch. Only problem was that between the fast motion of her bat connecting with the bludger, the inclement weather, AND Emmaline's zig-zagging, she kind of didn't have a chance to slow her broom down before colliding with the first year.
Oopsies? So much for trying to save her. "Sounds AWESOME!" she called back down to the older Slytherin (Daisy), who ended up partnering with the Hufflepuff badge-head. Zoryn was only trying to help incase the girl couldn't find a partner, she wasn't expecting to get a QUIDDITCH DAY WITH A QUIDDTICH CELEBRITY out of it. So the second year was QUITE satisfied to say the least.
But uh, back to the task 'cause it looked like Skylar was getting ready to throw the quaffle right back Zoryn's way and honestly... The Gryffindor kinda needed a couple seconds to reorient herself. Between the rain, wind, AND newly attacking bludgers... This was getting quite complicated.
FUN.
.... But complicated.
Just as she noticed a bludger zoom by, and thankfully head towards someone else (because PHEW) she again held out one hand to catch the incoming ball annnnd-WHAAAA????
Skylar was suddenly zooming through the air towards one Emmeline and everything was happening so fast all of the sudden AND yeah. She didn't catch the quaffle.
But s'okay 'cause class was over now and they could return to the ground again. WHICH, Zoryn didn't exactly want but a break did sound kinda nice. She watched the two girl's to make sure they were both okay, before landing on the ground and putting up the school broom back to where she had gotten it. "Thanks sir!! This was AWESOME!" Hopefully next time they'd learn how to fly with their eyes closed.
Now THAT would be exciting.

WHEEEEE---
Ouch! Emmeline's super fun race for the goal posts was interrupted twice; first by Miss Skylar shouting out a warning and THEN by Miss Skylar flying right into her! The first year promptly dropped her Quaffle and gripped her broom handle super tightly with both hands to stay upright on the broom. She turned around and tried to peer through the rain in confusion, just fast enough to see a Bludger speeding away and the beater's bat in Miss Skylar's hand. The Gryffindor rubbed her shoulder and her arm on the side where she and Miss Skylar had collided, but she figured a Bludger attack would've hurt WAY worse. She shot Miss Skylar a grateful smile and called back, "Thanks, Miss Skylar!" She hoped the older girl wasn't too hurt from their collision, either.
Then Professor B had flown over to join them, and Emmeline gave him a small smile and a nod when he asked if they were okay. She waited long enough to see Miss Skylar's response, then flew more slowly down to the ground. She had NO idea where the silly Quaffle fell but maybe someone else had already collected it? Mentally shrugging, the 11-year-old hovered over to the thingy where the school brooms were being stored before dismounting and putting the broom she'd been using back. She figured there were a few bruises blooming on her shoulder and arm area from hitting with Miss Skylar, but nothing bad enough to bother Mr. Healer about. She hoped Miss Skylar's situation was the same or better and looked up anxiously to peeer through the rain and try to make out Miss Skylar's shape; she'd watch the Slytherin girl until she touched down too, mhm.
She couldn't deny that today's had been an exciting lesson, though!
