When you climb up into the Divination classroom you're met by at least 20 small circular clothed tables surrounded by chintz armchairs in an rainbow of colours. On each table you see a collection of mirrors in different shapes and sizes. The room is for the day lit by the sunshine coming in from the tower windows as well as the many lamps scattered around the circular room. It is not stiflingly warm but rather pleasantly warm since there is no fire burning under the mantelpiece today, but the heavy perfume or is it incense you smell in air is coming from somewhere.
The shelves running around the circular walls are crammed with dusty feathers, candle stubs, packs of tattered playing cards and countless silvery crystal balls and a vast array of tea cups and you can also spot two charmed full-body mirrors. Near the centre of the room Professor Vance's empty comfy pink high chair stands, along with two small tables covered in parchments about today's lesson topic and her favourite teapot and cups set.
Upon entering Professor Vance appears from somewhere unspecific it could be left or right and greets each student as they trickle into the classroom by saying hello and instructing them to find a table to sit at and to choose a mirror from the table collection.
OOC: Welcome to this terms first lesson in the wonderful art of Divination! I hope you've all have practiced your Inner Eye's during the summer! This is not the first lesson IC since were in October.

Lost. He was looooooooooooost. And this was supposed to be HIS subject too. Okay, well, not exactly. Care of Magical Creatures was his subject but STILL. He had done SO well last term and now he was just this big ol' bundle of confusion and giggles. Mostly giggles really, but there was confusion too.
Right. Okay. He was...supposed to...do predictions now?
Peeeeeeeering over at Abey and Jessa's parchments, the blonde tried to make sense of what all was going on but to no real avail. Um....He tried looking at Emmeline's next, but all he came up with was the assumption that he was missing something. Frustrated and tangling his fingers in his hair in an aggravated ruffle, he poured over his textbook and decided just...to...erm...take notes on things that seemed relevant to his selected moles.

When the mole is on the left hand, it means money flows out faster than you can make it.On the right hand, some say this mole attracts a flow of money.I have them on BOTH so does that mean money and me are...neutral??? That I will always have just the right amount????

A mole on the outside wrist indicates the possibility of a broken marriage or at least a very unstablelove life during the forties, but if it is properly covered with long sleeves the instability could calm down. I'm only 12, professor, and my only kiss was wet, salty, and with a dolphin named Aqua. I would rather not think about the M word o_____o
Getting down to more pictures and diagrams...Derf figured it was best for him to just....ignore all these and try to get to the last step of things, yes. Which were predictions...and those apparently reeeeeally didn't make much of a difference. Professor Vance had even said so! Feeling a bit relieved at this point, Derf decided to just make some stuff up on a whim. After all, not ALL predictions ended up coming true and that was just the nature of them! Glancing up at the professor with a GRIN - because she had said just the right thing he needed at this point of things...like she KNEW he would need it - he set his quill back down to the parchment and started writing down some rather...fantastical predictions right off of his Hogwarts bucket list. Hey, they WOULD be neat if they came true!

As Skylar was sitting there reflecting about her work and the two moles slash birth marks she wrote about, the fourth year re-read her paper and somehow it didn't seem right. Professor Vance had predicted things about the weekend based off the moles, and her predictions were so ... generic and seemed so wrong? But her marks didn't really seem to mean anything important, least that was what she gathered from the readings.
It just seemed so vague and not accurate. Pressing her quill to her lips, she inhaled and exhaled. She was good at this; well, at least she was last year ... She wasn't actually sure about anything relating to divining. But somehow, she had to try. Which is why, she continued her notes at the bottom of her notes, which included phrases she copied from her textbook.

- Diamond shaped, light, above the navel.
The one on the upper arm, said something about negligible results. There was no meaning about the diamond one, but she guessed she could use the square shape, since a diamond was really a square, but rotated. The diamond one meant she averted evils at the last minute? Intriguing... Light brown for both, which meant of negligible extent.

Predictions: Basically, my extroverted personality will take me to new heights, allowing me the ability to take myself to high standards. The high standards I set for myself will not be in vain, but rather help me to achieve more and greater things. I know that I can do anything I want to do and will achieve great things.

A mole here on your tummy signifies you will enjoy great wealth luck. The smaller the mole, the better, but it should be dark and clearly visible. If it touches your navel, you will rise to become seriously wealthy
In today's world, such a girl would be thought of as a "bimbo" with her head full of candy or sugar-floss. She does not take life seriously as she cannot take herself seriously; a "good time girl" whose attractiveness is determined by the latest fashion craze. A constant string of lovers, none of whom mean anything, will occupy her attention in early life but these will fade in company with her looks. In later life, a faded rose, uncared for and unloved."
Predictions: Great wealth? I could stand for that. The birth mark wasn't touching the navel, but it was in close proximity, which meant, moderate wealth, although it wasn't clear as to whether that was wealth in money or happiness or friendships...And wait, not take love seriously? WHAT WAS THIS? This was meaningless. She did consider herself to be fashionable, but she didn't think her head was full of candy. She had a good head, but perhaps it wasn't meant to be a negative connotation. Perhaps the meanings worked together and that she would enjoy great wealth of good times, not necessarily being a party girl, like her initial read through... but life would be filled with good experiences and good company.
Day 1: I'll find myself achieving a high mark on an exam or homework assignment this weekend. It will lead to my successes
Day 2: I'm going to buy a new outfit this weekend
Day 3: I'll experience my first real kiss I'll find money
Okay, so she wasn't sure about the kiss part. But she had read something about lovers and money and wealth and it kind of made sense. Maybe not. Did they have to turn these in? Reflecting back to her conversation with Professor Vance, Skylar suddenly figured it was probably best to not include her day three, so she scratched it out and changed it. There. She was done.

Right. Etta decided to pick a random mole location and use it for the third prediction.. she couldn't help sighing with exasperation, though. Why weren't two predictions just enough? She opened her textbook once again, flipped through the pages and stopped at the mole-location page. It was just one more prediction anyway.. she could do it.
Moles located:
- Light coloured round mole on my right shoulder. ( Larger than life )
- Light coloured round mole on my left foot/pinky toe. ( Happiness in travel )
- Honey (brown) coloured triangular mole just above the right eyebrow ( Intelligent, creative and has skill to be an artist )
Predictions:
Friday: I'll be more clumsy than usual so I need to be extra careful today ( by not tripping over things and hurting myself )
Saturday: Today will be a pretty great day. I won't be too stressed, will finish all my work on time and probably even have time to relax.
Sunday: I will paint a lovely sketch today.. even it's not as good as I expected, I'll still be happy that I did it.
Laurel observed with pride how all the students got engaged with their work. Some chose to work solo while others partnered up. Flashing a glance at her wrist watch she wished that it wasn't time to end but it was.
Clearing her voice Laurel let her voice oversound the student chatter in the room, effectively causing it to quiet down so that she didn't need to scream. "That's a wrap everyone! Unfortunatley that is all we have time for today! Please leave your prediction parchments on the table beside the trap door on your way out. For homework I like you all to write me two inches/paragraphs on whether your predictions came true and in what way or if they didn't why do you think they didn't. Class dismissed!" Laurel ended before she turned to go collect up her notes and prepare for the next class.
OOC: Class dismissed! Thanks to everyone for coming and making it fun! The homework is just for IC fun. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. I'll leave the thread open for a few more hours for you to declone or catch up with your activities.

Quill FLYING over the parchment, Derf tried to jot down the first things that came to mind. Which...ended up being rather ridiculous and complete nonsense really...along with being heavily influenced by the textbook and Jessa Cambridge.

Friday: I will have a chat with Bartholomew Henry on the exchange rate between a galleon and a pound. He will also teach me how to remember how many knuts to a sickle since I keep on forgetting.
Saturday: I will use the picture of Valerie Gray that Jessa gave me and seek out her autograph and she will kiss me on the cheek and I will faint.
Sunday: I will still be unconscious from my cheek kiss from Valerie Gray. I'll have a pickle and cheese sandwich.
"Here you are, profes-s-ss-sor!" he chirped, handing in his parchment as requested and bolting out of the classroom before the woman could have any sort of proper look at it.
