When you climb up into the Divination classroom you're met by at least 20 small circular clothed tables surrounded by chintz armchairs in an rainbow of colours. On each table you see a collection of mirrors in different shapes and sizes. The room is for the day lit by the sunshine coming in from the tower windows as well as the many lamps scattered around the circular room. It is not stiflingly warm but rather pleasantly warm since there is no fire burning under the mantelpiece today, but the heavy perfume or is it incense you smell in air is coming from somewhere.
The shelves running around the circular walls are crammed with dusty feathers, candle stubs, packs of tattered playing cards and countless silvery crystal balls and a vast array of tea cups and you can also spot two charmed full-body mirrors. Near the centre of the room Professor Vance's empty comfy pink high chair stands, along with two small tables covered in parchments about today's lesson topic and her favourite teapot and cups set.
Upon entering Professor Vance appears from somewhere unspecific it could be left or right and greets each student as they trickle into the classroom by saying hello and instructing them to find a table to sit at and to choose a mirror from the table collection.
OOC: Welcome to this terms first lesson in the wonderful art of Divination! I hope you've all have practiced your Inner Eye's during the summer! This is not the first lesson IC since were in October.
Sophie blinked twice, staring with big eyes at the three moles in the mirror. After remaining rather silent through most of class, this shock was more than enough to push her emotions over the edge. "What, exactly, is the purpose of all of this? I mean, who cares if my moles can tell the future? I certainly don't!" Emphasizing her sudden outburst with a snort, she adjusted her robes and gazed down at the parchment on her desk. "And I suppose you expect me to fill this out about all of my personal problems, don't you?" She shook her head in disgust, but started jotting down notes anyway.

Name: Sophie Flightdatter
House: Gryffindor
Year: 1st
Moles located:
- Light colored oval mole on my wrist (I am not very punctual)
- Milky white colored round mole on my ankle (I tend to snort when laughing)
- Dark colored square-ish mole on my lower tummy (I am feeling slightly hungry)
Predictions:
Friday: Since I'm not overly great at being on time, I will show up late to another Potions class and make a fool of myself again.
Saturday: While with my best friends, I will start to laugh as one of them tells a great joke. Once I've started laughing, they won't be able to stop me and I will keep snorting for hours.
Sunday: I will head down to the kitchens just before bedtime in search of a snack because I will feel hungry. On my way there, I will slip on a banana peel and tumble down the stairs.
Dropping her pencil like a hot potato, Sophie leapt to her feet. "There," she cried, "Are you happy now? Assignment done!"
... Drat. Abey had managed to not fall at the first hurdle, only to find himself crashing headlong into the next one. At the mention of using their textbooks, he made that same strangled noise that he did every time they had to do theory work in class.
But very... very quietly, because he'd already been sort of yelled at already actually.
Leaning over the arm of his chair, Abey wrestled his Divination textbook out of his bag; it still looked practically pristine, and the spine didn't even appear cracked.
"Which chapter is the mole one?" he asked those at his table, first attempting the contents page, but quickly giving up and flicked through it page by page instead, not that that was much easier. Already this was seeming like QUITE the overwhelming task. Reading and cross-referencing and noting things down and ahhHHHHHHHHHH.
"Does anyone want to share my moles with me?" Abey added, looking around at their little table group. Preferably someone who didn't mind sharing the load with checking the book. And... maybe someone who remembered the task they were supposed to be doing, because Abey had already forgotten the details in the time it took to search through the textbook.

Kitty had half-expected (or maybe feared was a better word) to be chastised for eliminating all her moles with potions, and she was already preparing ways to defend herself when the professor simply told her to find a partner. Oh.
Smiling in relief, she said, "Yes Professor, I'll do that," and turned to face her partners at the table.
"Does anyone want to partner with me? Sorry, it's just that I eliminated all mine with makeup and potions. I promise to be respectful." And she spoke loud enough to be heard by nearby tables as well, in case anyone was okay with her offer.
Now, they had to predict their future with the help of moles. Great, just great. The fact that she actually found moles on her body wasn't something she was entire happy with, really. And the fact that each mole helped tell her future.. ANYWAY. But let's just get this over with, yes? She slowly flipped through the pages of her textbook until she was on the relevant page before pulling out her parchment and quill. Now.. to start writing.
Moles located:
- Light coloured round mole on my right shoulder. ( Larger than life )
- Light coloured round mole on my left foot/pinky toe. ( Happiness in travel )
Predictions:
Friday: I'll be more clumsy than usual so I need to be extra careful today ( by not tripping over things and hurting myself )
Saturday: Today will be a good day. I won't be too stressed, will finish all my work on time and probably even have time to relax.
Etta stopped writing abruptly, wondering if she had to make a prediction for the third day too. Um. She raised a hand. "Professor.. I have only two moles sooo I should stick with two predictions or do I need a third?"

oh. So they were going to actually do something with the moles. That made sense. It also made them looking for their own moles less pointless. That made Hattie happy, because she really did not like doing pointless things, especially in lessons. Hattie sat herself down at her desk, and made a quick drawing, just so she would remember the three moles that she wanted to talk about. She had more than three, but figured she needed to not focus on all the ones that were on the small of her book.
After completing her sketch, she began to work on the moles meaning, and where they were. She concentrated, so her writing was neat.
SPOILER!!: Hattie's notes
Name: Hattie Paton
House: Hufflepuff
Year: 4th
Moles located:
- Light coloured round on small of back
- Dark coloured, kinda of square on my left forearm
- Light coloured, round, just about my right knee
And now she needed to work on her predictions. Okay. She bit her lip, and carried on, trying to keep concentrating, so she would do it right.

Some come true and others don't and you're not messing with fate if you remove a mole. But let's not discuss fate right now. It's a topic for another lesson."
Derf waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas...even more confused now, to be honest. And that wasn't FAIR because he was a SEER and therefore Divination shouldn't be so confusing...right? Right. Because when you were naturally talented at things you are just always good at them. You know? He knew. It was one of those moments kind of like the times he had asked dad what a word meant and dad had told him to go look it up himself, but rather than being given a definition the definition had told him to see the definition for another word...and then that word had told him to go reference another...and then he was running around in circles like a very confused goldfish in a bowl.
So...he simply nodded to Professor Vance...and, as usual, did not entirely listen to directions. "But then how do you know when you're doing just a prediction and when you are s-s-seeing s-something s-s-showing fate?"
Like like like...what was the difference?!

Remember though to differentiate between moles and birth markes. Birth marks is marks that you have from birth and sticks with you through out your lifetimes while moles are sort of like acne spots that can appear and dissapear now and then."
Clapping her hands together getting excited Laurel said "Now then please locate 3 moles on your skins with the use of your mirrors and table partners help. If you feel you want to use the full body mirrors you can. They are charmed so that the person standing in front of it can see their naked body but someone else will just see clothes. Get to it everyone!"
OOC: Have fun with locating your 3 body moles. Don't do anything else just locate them. No post count required. Post as many or as few posts you want. The class will move on thursday may 18th around 6pm.....so you have more than 36 hours OOC to finish the mini activity. If you have q's for Laurel then say so in your post titles or i might miss them.
....MORE CONFUSION! How did he KNOW whether or not a spot had been there since birth and hadn't? Derf wasn't all the observant when it came to his own body and such so he really DIDN'T KNOW!
When Professor Vance spoke about these mirrors, Derf shot Abey a quick sideways glance and then covered his mouth to try and prevent himself from bursting into a fit of giggles right then and there. It was like a bad dream sequence, you know? The sort where you are the only one naked in a big room of people sort of dream. What did those dreams mean? Would it be too terribly off topic if he were to ask now?
But these mirrors were...hmmm...Derf was curious, but he also would much rather find three moles without needing to stand in front of it. It was a weird giggle inducing version of the Mirror of Erised, only Derf was not too keen on looking at himself soooooooo....his inspection began by looking at his own hands. Was...THAT one? It was on the knuckle closest to his middle finger on his left hand so and all...super small but totally brown and wonky looking....and then there were three more brown dots in kind of a loooooooong triangle shape - like if he were to take his quill and try to connect them and such.....so there. He had his three, er, four moles and didn't have to stand in front of any mirrors and laugh himself to the point of risking secretion!
Although...looking around the room and seeing OTHERS doing it...well...Derf erupted into fits of laughter right there in his seat. Visuals.

The fact there was a textbook dedicated to such things was almost appalling. How did one back up anything written in it with facts? Did this even have facts? Were these results able to be duplicated?
Jessa was drawn from her thoughts by Abey's first question. The Chapter? Leaning just passed Derf who'd now fallen into a fit of laughter for whatever reason. "It should be right...." Jessa flipped a couple of the pages, trying to remember the reference the Professor had give, "around.....here!" That was the chapter they'd be reviewing today--still couldn't believe they dedicated a chapter to something like this.
Also....she would very much be passing up on that mirror. It was...no thanks. Weird. Very weird and she felt like it'd be weird using it. Didn't matter if no one else could see, definitely weird.
"I'll share them with you." She volunteered, remembering the Professor had said she would need to partner up anyway. "I've found two. How many do you have?" Oh! She'd be needing her text as well, to ensure she didn't have to keep reaching by Derf. Parchment too...and a quill......okay, NOW she was ready.

Turning to the badger prefect she responded thoughtfully. "I really want everyone to do three predictions each Etta. Can't you ask your table mates for where they have moles and pick one of theirs to make your last prediction? Or you can pick a random mole location from the textbook and use it for your prediction." There, now it was up to Etta on what route she wanted to take to fulfil her last portion of her activity.

The loud snorting outburst from the first year lioness; Sophie Flightdatter did not go unnoticed. Laurel wasn't one to get angry easily but this girl ticked her off with her disrespectful attitude towards the subject and her.
Striding over to stand in front of Sophie she fixed the girl's gaze and said sternly. "Enough! That's 10 points from Gryffindor for your blatant disrespect of a Divination method that has been practiced in this way since antiquity and towards me as your professor Ms. Flightdatter!
I do not tolerate outbursts like this in my class from any student and I will speak to HoH Marchand about your behaviour. I warn you not to speak to me or any teaching professor like this again or you will find yourself faster in detention then you can say crumple horned snorkack." Well DANGGG. Someone in Gryffindor was NOT happy to be in Divination. Kane wasn't the biggest fan of it either, and MORE than a little skeptical of the subject, but he wasn't throwing a fit over it either. Geez. Good thing the Puffs were well behaved and kept in line!
Shaking his head, he turned back to his notes and finished scribbling what the professor had put on the board. Now to find moles on himself to analyze...which was going to be difficult. The only one he was aware of was on his right arm, and that was it. Even living in California for the majority of his life hadn't given him so much as a freckle in addition.
Well, ok, he had one on his chest, but he wasn't about to go WHIPPING his shirt off in the middle of Divination.
He looked around and cleared his throat. "Um, I need a partner!" he called out.

Even so, having the right chapter didn't really mean anything when it all may as well have been written in Elder Futhark. Abey flipped forward a few pages, looking for a picture or diagram that might be more help. But... no, it really didn't seem to explain much to him.
Oooooh, but at least he had someone to work with, seeing as Derf was busy giggling because he had fallen into the TRAP that Abey had managed to avoid.
"I've got these three on my arm," he pointed out the three speckles on his arm, a slightly darker brown than his tan skin. "These are my triangle. But if they all need to be in different places, I think I have one here-" he pointed at the front of his uniform where his neck met his chest right at the top of his sternum, "-and one here, I think, too." That last part was accompanied by Abey jabbing at his thigh with the tip of his index finger.
Now for the tricky bit. Could he maybe try and work out his future without actually cross-referencing the book? By using his awesome Seer SKILLZ?!
Probably. But the professor might not be very happy with him.
"So..." Abey said, looking back to his textbook. "Now we have to, uhh.... uhhhhhhhhh..." Um, now they had to... errr.... "... look at... this page?" He pointed at the page which had the diagrams of full body people.
Hehe.
Hehehehehehehehe.
Ahem.
"Are yours-"giggle"-on your not-face-body too?" He didn't see any on her face. Also... "Also, what if there's some where the book hasn't already thought of that place?" Books weren't all that great. There was no way it had possible predictions for EVERY INCH OF THE BODY.

It was main activity time and now they had to analyze their three moles. Shay opened her book to the proper chapter and began to scan the information. Well this was a bit confusing because there were different interpretations in different sections for the same mole location. Some of the interpretations were pretty grim, but Shay decided to start writing down her descriptions and hope for the best.
After describing her moles, Shay tried make sense of it all. There were so many different ways the information, she wasn't really sure which way to go. Finally she just picked whatever she thought was best and went with that. Then there were the predictions. That was a whole different beast to slay. Shay was finding this whole task to be tricky. But she did the best she could.
Moles located:
Black spot shaped mole on the right side of my neck. (I am clever)
Black square shaped mole on the my left elbow. (I will work hard to find my place in the world)
Brown round mole on my right shoulder blade (I am too truthful)
Predictions:
Friday: I will do well in Charms class. I will correctly answer all of the questions in class and perform the designated Charms without difficulty.
Saturday: I will study very hard for my classes, complete my homework ahead of time and do all of the extra credit assignments that I can. I will go to the library and research the professions that interest me, to help me decide what I want to do with my life.
Sunday: I will hurt a friend's feelings because I tell them something that they don't really want to hear. When they ask for my truthful opinion, I will give it to them. However, what they really wanted was for me to agree with them.
When Shay had finished writing, she put her quill down and looked over her notes. "Well", she thought. "This just going to have to do." In the meantime, Shay was going to look through her textbook some more and make a few notes on her own.

Jessa was sure to pay attention while Abey pointed out his moles. He had enough to ensure that even if they WERE all meant to be in different places, they'd still get the exercise covered. Every time he changed the direction of his pointing, blue eyes followed along ready to assess the new site that may need to be under study.
"I think we can make predictions using your moles. The Professor said I had to find someone with others on account of I only have two." That she knew of. To be perfectly honest, the Ravenclaw wasn't trying to find them, not really.
Body inspections weren't exactly high up on her to-do list, y'know? There were a couple things she'd have rather been doing.
Her gaze fell to the textbook again. Right, with them deciding to work together, they had to figure how to split the work. "I think...." She said, scribbling her name on her piece of parchment. "We'll share this. I'll put your name on this too, then you can write down your moles--the ones we'll be using--while I look up the predictions to add to them. That way we can save on a bunch of time."
Aaaannddddd.........done.
She slid the parchment over to him, so he could begin to list all the moles she would be looking up for them. "I've got one on the under side of my arm. Actually, I think I probably have a couple more than I can currently see but clothes are still a thing and I'm not keen on the mirror over there." Understatement really. She was not having it. "And it doesn't matter if we can't find it in the book; it's probably not real. You're a real Seer, you'll know what they mean anyway."

Emmeline stared in shock at her dormmate's (Sophie's) words. She couldn't believe another first year would talk like that to a grown up! Especially when Professor Vance wasn't being mean right now, showed no outward signs of being a secret hag, and teaching divination methods was kind of her job? Emmeline wasn't totally sure how much to believe in this mole stuff either, but learning stuff like that WAS the whole point of Divination. She sighed when the professor took so many points off Gryffindor, but she knew that it was only fair to do that. She glanced back at Stasya, and muttered: "D'you think we should talk to Sophie later?" Because Emmeline thought it was more likely that Sophie was upset for some Unknown Reason and that her anger had just burst in this lesson.
Anyway, time for Divination. Ugh, they had to work with textbooks. Emmeline enjoyed reading some types of books, but she didn't want to read more than five pages on this mole stuff (and that was stretching it). She groaned softly when she turned to the chapter on moles and saw that it was THIRTY WHOLE PAGES. What?! Turning to Jessa -- she had finally learned Cambridge's first name, 'cause Abey had said it! -- she asked, "Is there a summary page in here somewhere?" Jessa was older than her AND in Ravenclaw, so of course the other girl would know.

There. At least she could say that she'd started the assignment now. Derf was laughing like crazy for some reason, and Stasya was pretty quiet today, so sadly she might have to power through it herself. That was okay, as long as Stasya wasn't upset and Derf wasn't suddenly going crazy.

Still not entirely into the lesson, more due to the fact she knew she didn’t have any weird moles that suddenly had appeared on her body than anything else, Stasya had mostly been playing with her quill idly and watching herself in the little hand mirror that had been on the table in front of herself instead of really trying to do the assignment. She’d heard Professor Vance say they could work with others if they didn’t have the three required moles, but she also didn’t really see how moles could say anything about a person’s future and also she didn’t want to just make things up to have something written down. It was a dilemma, although she did finally write something on her parchment.

After that, she’d found herself drawing little pictures of creatures just to pass the time, until the outburst had made her head go up. Where did that come from?, she wondered silently, turning to look at Emmeline as she had spoken. “Maybe,” she’d said, nodding a little. Something had to have set Sophie off, more than just a confusing lesson.
Also, WHY was Derf giggling so much?

...........soooooooooo maybe he should have taken the hint when Professor Vance said they were not going to discuss fate today as a sign that he ought not to ask any follow up questions...because she had ignored his. Oops.
But any hard feelings were somewhat lingering thanks to the whole debacle with that one Gryffindor girl and Professor Vance - which left the second year wiggling in his seat chanting 'crumple horned snorkack' to himself over and over and over again.
Why were Stasya and Emmelie looking at him like that? Grinning, he waved at the two of them and then got back to this whole mole business and jotting down things on his piece of paper. Well, everything that he COULD do without opening up his textbook.

knuckle closest to my middle finger on my left hand ; light brown and kinda circular
three brown circular ones on my right forearm ; make a triangle if you draw and connect them
Right sooooooooo....what did this mean exactly? Idly tickling his nose with his quill, Derf actually drew on his forearm. Obtuse! It was an obtuse triangle. Did...that mean something?
Glancing around again, and idly flipping through his textbook, the Hufflepuff tried to make sense of things. But...um...of the four he had picked at random...they were on his hands and arm which meant...something to do with Gemini because of the arm thing...but there wasn't anything for the LEFT hand...only the right?? WHAT DID THAT MEAN?! And no...he was certainly NOT cracking up reading what Libra and Scorpio were associated with. Nope.
But he could add these little details yes.

Okay. This was harder than she had thought. Mostly because she probably didn't really understand that much. She really did need to do some more work on Divination in her spare time. She really did if she wanted to pass her OWL next year. But for now she would concentrate hard, so that she could hopefully finish this assignment. She bit on the end of her quill as she looked through the text book, trying to find the right answers that would go along with the moles she had. She needed to find the right answers so that she could get her predictions right.
SPOILER!!: Hattie's notes
Name: Hattie Paton
House: Hufflepuff
Year: 4th
Moles located:
- Light coloured round on small of back - (I am indecisive)
- Dark coloured, kinda of square on my left forearm - (I am happy with a lot of money?)
- Light coloured, round, just about my right knee (I need to work hard to succeed)
Okay. So she had gotten the meanings down. Or at least the ones she thought were right, and now she needed to move onto the predictions. She didn't really get predictions, but she figured she would try anyway.
SPOILER!!: Hattie's notes
Prediction One
I will struggle to make my mind up about who to support for during the tournament with Ilvermorny
Prediction Two
I will be happy with how my art work is going, and be happy to allow my mom to sell some more of my paintings
Prediction Three
I will need to work hard in future divination lessons to ensure I progress well in that class
And with that she was done. The girl put her quill down, and began to look over her answers, to make sure she had done it right.

Just as he was returning to his seat, the leonine lad heard sharp voices, and before he knew it, the Professor docked points from Gryffindor. Greeaaaat. Your Prefect is eyeing you lioness you.
BUT back to the task hand. The Curly Top flipped through his textbook-- whoah some of what these says about moles are downright scary, doom and gloom kinda thing. Is this even real? Now theres trepidation of looking up his own moles.
Theres something he noticed though, as he was reading-- most of these are either on the face or on the body, didnt say anything about moles on the neck. Whoops, looks like he will need to find other moles to replace that part....

2.) on the tummy (#9)
3.) along the inner part of arm (#16)
He was still looking for the part about moles on his back, but the text just refers to women? What about for men will that apply too?

"Okay!" Sharing the moles AND sharing the workload sounded just fine to Abey, and actually in this situation, he much preferred writing to reading, especially when the reading included SUCH a busy looking textbook. He picked up his quill and opened up his pot of ink - still the very same one he had started the school year with, which showed how much he actually used it. "Well..." Abey glanced at the professor and back at Jessa. "Being a Seer doesn't actually mean I'll be good at these predictions at all apparently."
Abey was, perhaps, still a little bitter. He didn't like being wrong. Who WOULD?
"My spelling's not very good, just warning you," Abey said as he leaned over the parchment and started writing what he had just told Jessa.

"Okay. Ready for predictions!" And he KNEW a lot of those words were wrong and a lot of letters were back to front BUT he'd tried his best to make it readable, at the very least. Maybe there was a spell he could use to go over his parchment and correct spellings. Now THAT would be the dream.
Jessa was smart. Perhaps she knew a spell. And if now, perhaps she would help him invent one.

So evidently, they had to take the moles they found on their body and classify them and interpret what they meant. Except she only found one mole, on her upper arm, light coloured. Although upon reading the chapter in the textbook which described this, it also talked about birthmarks, which Sky guessed she could use that too, since they had similar meanings. She knew she had a diamond shaped one, small, above her navel, without even looking in the full length mirror. So that was two marks. At least it was something, and perhaps, if she was thorough with what the marks meant, it would be enough.
Text Cut: notes
Name: Skylar Diggory
House: Slytherin
Year: 4th
Moles located:
- Light coloured round on front of upper arm
- Diamond shaped, light, above the navel.
The one on the upper arm, said something about negligible results. There was no meaning about the diamond one, but she guessed she could use the square shape, since a diamond was really a square, but rotated. The diamond one meant she averted evils at the last minute? Intriguing... Light brown for both, which meant of negligible extent.
"Mole or Birthmark on the Right, Outer Upper Arm:
You are popular and efficient and your life is one busy challenge after another. You do not lack forwork and are much in demand at social events. This is probably because you are likely to hold a high position with responsibilities to match
The lady who has this mark will learn about life's hardships at an early age. There will be much suffering, however, because of her characteristic exuberance, courage and love of life, she will climb to happier and greater things. She loves to have a laugh, enjoys new experiences and isn't afraid totake a risk or face new challenges. With the Cup of Life, this girl looks upon it as being half-full ratherthan half-empty. If she marries, she will not be dominated by any man but will remain a free-spirit."
Predictions: Basically, my extroverted personality will take me to new heights, allowing me the ability to take myself to high standards. The high standards I set for myself will not be in vain, but rather help me to achieve more and greater things. I know that I can do anything I want to do and will achieve great things.
"Mole or Birthmark close to Navel:
A mole here on your tummy signifies you will enjoy great wealth luck. The smaller the mole, the better, but it should be dark and clearly visible. If it touches your navel, you will rise to become seriously wealthy
In today's world, such a girl would be thought of as a "bimbo" with her head full of candy or sugar-floss. She does not take life seriously as she cannot take herself seriously; a "good time girl" whose attractiveness is determined by the latest fashion craze. A constant string of lovers, none of whom mean anything, will occupy her attention in early life but these will fade in company with her looks. In later life, a faded rose, uncared for and unloved."
Predictions: Great wealth? I could stand for that. The birth mark wasn't touching the navel, but it was in close proximity, which meant, moderate wealth, although it wasn't clear as to whether that was wealth in money or happiness or friendships...And wait, not take love seriously? WHAT WAS THIS? This was meaningless. She did consider herself to be fashionable, but she didn't think her head was full of candy. She had a good head, but perhaps it wasn't meant to be a negative connotation. Perhaps the meanings worked together and that she would enjoy great wealth of good times, not necessarily being a party girl, like her initial read through... but life would be filled with good experiences and good company.
Okay, she had enough of this moleosophy. Could they go back to shooting arrows again like last term? Prediction via moles and birthmarks was just weird and there was something ... wrong about it. Though she couldn't quite figure out what. Although she wouldn't speak as such like the one gryffindor with that outburst, but she definitely wasn't a fan of this divining method.

"You know what? I think even the book probably won't be right so it's fine and we'll get it done." Jessa was completely nonchalant about the whole thing, hardly able to bring herself to scan the text like she'd promised Abey she would. It's just....why put likely...lies on the parchment?
She looked to Emmeline who seemed a little overwhelmed by the volume in this one chapter.
"It is a lot, isn't it?" A lot of hooey potentially which was the real shame. Non-fiction was never meant to lead you astray. "There's a chapter summary at the end of each chapter so right...." She reached over, flipping through the girl's text until she came to the end of the chapter, "here. You'll find a summary of everything here."
And Abey wasn't kidding about the whole spelling thing. Jessa squinted at the parchment. "It's cool. I know what it all says." Which was the most important thing now. "Your future's really looking up based on all these."
The Ravenclaw feigned another look at her own text before nodding. "Yep, I see great things coming up in your future." And so she began to write as if with absolute certainty.

"Okay, good," Abey said, and this time his tone was less exuberant because he wasn't exactly enthusiastic about being terrible at reading and writing and just words in general, but he still expressed it with a small, genuine smile.
And then, PREDICTIONS! Abey pushed the parchment closer to Jessa and had to make a conscious effort actually to not lean in and try to read while she wrote them all down. Instead he waited until she was all done, and grinned as he pulled the parchment BACK to him to see what great things his future apparently had in store for him.
It took him a while.
But, once he had got through them all, he looked at Jessa, beaming. "These are all mega great!" It was true, it was. "I'm gonna use my Seer powers and see what they say about them." Which of course meant that Abey fully knew the likelihood of each of these things and could make an educated guess.
He stared back at the parchment and 'hmmmmm'ed while he woke up his Inner Eye. "I think... Saturday is a HUNDRED percent going to happen... Sunday..." Uhhhh... best to not address that one because Abey's Inner Eye was telling him it wasn't going to happen. "And Friday! ... Fifty-fifty."
There, now they'd BOTH done the prediction parts too. Sort of. A job well done, if you asked Abey.

Jessa's voice snapped Emmeline out of the trance-like state she'd fallen into since asking the older girl where the summary page was. She smiled gratefully at the Ravenclaw and muttered: "Thanks, Jessa!" If anyone had been waving at her, she hadn't noticed whilst staring off into space.
As she glanced down at her parchment, she realized that she hadn't just been spacing out; she'd been drawing kneazles on her parchment! Well, she could hardly turn it in like that. Emmeline crumpled that piece of parchment up and tossed it into her bag before retrieving a clean bit of parchment for her assignment.

Well, this assignment was working out better now that she was on task. Still, the summary page was confusing and just a little boring because of the textbook-like way it was written. Of course she knew textbooks were all like that -- long and as boring as possible language. She put her elbow on the desk and kind of leaned her cheek into her hand. Was this incense making anyone else sleepy?
About ten minutes later, Emmeline felt the classroom coming into more sharpness again. Oh no, she'd fallen asleep! She hoped the poor professor hadn't noticed, because Gryffindor had had enough points lost for one lesson. Forcing herself to focus, the first year read through the zodiac signs and parts of the body. Yes, yes, lots of gender stuff. Apparently she'd have a lot of sons because of lots of moles being on her right side? Okaayyy...

She didn't think she would have any sons in the next three days though, so this part of the chapter was NOT helpful. Moving on...
She scrunched up her nose as she read relevant parts of the chapter. This seemed to describe a Hufflepuff; did that mean the Sorting Hat had been WRONG?! Hopefully she was just doing this part wrong, because that was too disturbing to think about in this class, mmmhmm.

1. Big for a mole, light brown, on left arm by my elbow. (I am smart and will fight for my place in the world.
2. Small, round, light brown on my right shoulder. (I am hard working and patient.)
3. Smooshy light brown one on my right shoulder next to mole 2. (Life will bring me troubles but I can overcome them.)
I will have lots of sons because my moles are mostly on the right side.
Friday: I will struggle through Charms class, but I will eventually learn the spell because I fought for it.
Saturday: I will go to the barn as usual. The nifflers will be playing with other people, so I will play with the hippogriffs instead. But one of the hippogriffs will not like me and won't bow back.
Sunday: All of my homework will be done except for Potions. Then I will eat ice cream to cheer myself up because I don't like Potions.
There! Done at last! Emmeline threw her quill down happily. So she'd had to go to her normal Divination strategy whenever it was confusing and Professor Vance wanted them to make predictions: make it up. She felt a little bad about this, but she wasn't a Seer and she had no idea how she was supposed to predict things out of thin air. Besides, judging by how everyone was able to predict stuff, she had a feeling that some of them had adopted her strategy too.
Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna
Cassie turned the pages of her textbook to the appropriate chapter and pages they were directed to for the particular style of divination they were studying. Nope…not that one…almost…ah there it was. Moleosophy. Now with the location of her moles, she had to try and make sense of what they supposedly meant by the textbook’s standards and then guess how they applied to her actual life either now or in the future. This could be interesting to say the least. The fifth year could only imagine just what was going to be said about, well, anything for that matter.
Body parts in relationship to star signs…that was what she noticed first. Wrist…knee…shoulder. That was where hers were so she wrote them down in her notes before proceeding to look up the give signs for each. Capricorn was for knee…Gemini was for shoulder. Though Cass wasn’t quite sure were the inside of her wrist happened to be. Hand or arm. And that was before you added in the size, color and shape of the mark that added more characteristics into the mix.

He continued taking down notes. In truth he had a LOT of moles, he just realized that now, and looking at the textbook he probably had an equivalent for each that its referring to. But too much info, pretty Prof is only asking for three, and theres the ones on his back that he doesnt know the meaning of because the textbook only describes it for women. What like men dont have moles of their backs? Weird.
Of the ones he selected.... a lot of it seems to be related to wealth. Tenacius wasnt one to deny that he was born into a lucky family. But it was also saying something about his personality which was also true. Maybe this thing has more legitimacy than he first thought eh?

Because Olivia wasn't exactly comfortable with doing the activity in the first place, she felt it would be best to just keep to herself on it. So that she didn't accidentally offend anyone. It would work out perfectly, considering she had the one... and for the others? The blonde would make a few up. It wasn't the most ideal solution, but one she could accomplish on her own.
Carefully sketching out the template Professor Vance had used for her own moles, the blonde started flipping through the pages in her book. Well, at first...only to turn around and go back to the index to look for the right chapter. Normally, she would've lazily perused, but this class wasn't that long. So. Best to cut right to it.
Ah, there it was.
Finally landing on the RIGHT chapter, Liv started filling in the info for her star-shaped beauty mark. Hm, after getting that written out, she took the time to make up a few. Randomly, she began writing; think of her belly-button and neck. They were as good a place as any, right? So, one of the made up marks would be placed just below the navel, and the other....would be on the side of the neck. But the latter would be a mole. Not a standard beauty mark. Skimming the chapter, it didn't appear to matter between the two. The predictions would be the same....Or maybe she wasn't reading the text...in the right way? Universal meanings for these things...
Not going to lie, Divination stuff confused her so much sometimes. It was abundantly clear Olivia didn't possess a third eye, or whatever it was called. THE GREAT INNER EYE. Ho de hum. With a hunch of additional scribbling, the Gryffindor tried to work out the meanings for all three marks (real and made up, alike), but apparently the fact that the mark was star shaped didn't mean anything special? That was a disappointment, as she'd thought different shapes might mean something. Alas... THOUGH, the textbook did give information about the Zodiac signs and which areas they held domain over, which was awesome! Livvy loved the zodiac (which would've killed her old Head of House, Professor Flamsteed, but...)
With the standard, condense meanings in parentheses (and correlating star signs), she scrunched her nose up in disinterest. The more theoretical lessons were such a chore for her to endure, as she liked to get up and move around. Even if her knees had started bothering her again.
Moles located • Star-shaped birthmark on my right hip. (lively intelligence which leads to strong opinions)
• [made up] Irregular birthmark just below the belly button. (Intelligent, popular with relatives and friends, hardworking and very attractive)
• [made up] A mole on the right-side of the neck. (sometimes indicate a short life, with the possibility of being highly stressed out)

There. Now to add predictions... How was she supposed to come up with those again?
Welp, when in doubt, make something up. That was her personal motto. The show must go on and all that. Let's see... The Ilvermorny kids were coming, so... maybe her first mark had a little something to do with her attitude towards them? It definitely wasn't a secret that Liv held strong opinions on most things. So, this was something she would've bought about herself. Maybe they were a particularly smelly, stinky bunch? Or maybe they were just as stupidly attractive as everyone was here at Hogwarts, only adding to her current angst and uncertainty. MAYBE... they would be more theatrical than she was?! Well, Rooney was, but that was different. These would be outsiders................... What if they didn't like her?
Her brain was dumb and was only making her freak out about stuff that hadn't even happened yet.
Quickly jotting down stuff pertaining to her family, friends, and OWLs, Olivia blew at the wet ink. Was it painfully obvious that she wasn't taking this too seriously? Guh, why couldn't they have another lesson like with the archery stuff? Now, THAT...had been a blast.
Moles located • Star-shaped birthmark on my right hip. (lively intelligence which leads to strong opinions) [Aries]
• [made up] Irregular birthmark just below the belly button. (Intelligent, popular with relatives and friends, hardworking and very attractive) [Sagittarius]
• [made up] A mole on the right-side of the neck. (sometimes indicate a short life, with the possibility of being highly stressed out) [Leo]
Predictions Friday
With the incoming American kids, I'll have some attitude about certain aspects of either their personalities or looks? Or maybe whoever gets chosen as their competitors won't be that impressive? OR MAYBE they'll be too attractive to exist, which might make me more irritable and opinionated towards them. (doesn't really think so but needs to write something down for this assignment) By the same token, maybe this will apply to the Hogwarts competitors, as well. I hope whoever gets picked will slay.
Saturday
I'll make very good decisions where my family members are concerned and will possibly make up with my mother. I'll also do something that earns praise among my peers. (for the record, I don't really do anything for other people's praise. that's not the way to be happy in life). Also, my skin will be really amazing that day (maybe)
Sunday
OWLs will continue to stress me out as I realize I'm really behind with my exam prep. This has actually be true for a while, as I've been experiencing some anxiety about not being prepared enough. Maybe I'll suffer another mental break, as I have been feeling on the verge lately.
