Welcome to your first duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Curse Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

Professor Hirsch will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 15th of June by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

This was a duel Rula was very excited for. Rooney was an opponent she always looked forward to facing in dueling - though she didn't get the chance last term, but for very understandable reasons considering what had happened. She was just glad that everything had turned out okay in the end. And glad to see his name on the dueling list this term. Their final term at Hogwarts.
Merlin...that was kinda sad, actually. It was moments like these that made her a little sad remembering it was her last year at this school. She'd gotten so used to being in the dueling club, having someone as a consistent dueling partner each term, improving her spellwork...
Well, maybe they could still have a few friendly duels after graduation! Dueling for fun didn't have to be limited to just school, did it? Of course not!
She'd suggest the idea after the duel though. It was time to focus on this one first.
Once she'd entered the dueling area and it was time to start, she grinned at him. "Good luck, Mr. Head Boy." He was going to need it since she wouldn't go easy on him. Hehe.
Okay, maybe a little bit easy just to start off with, because after she bowed and took the required number of steps, she cast a quick "Avis!" and "Oppugno!", sending a few conjured birds toward him.

It was fitting that he was beginning his seventh year with a duel against Rula. Not only had these duels brought them a friendship, but they had solidified their understanding of one anothers magical ability which Rooney thought was a perfect beginning point for their partnership as Head Boy and Girl. With a bow, Roo shot the Slytherin girl a big smile. "Eat my dust, Head Girl." Playful teasing was everything that their duels had been full of, really and truly. Never had theirs been emotionally charged or fury filled.
Rula took no time getting them started and Roo noted that it was an easy start for sure. It was easily disbanded with a quick "Contego!" from his wand, the shield getting rid of the birds coming his way without any real effort from the Ravenclaw boy man male person thing.
In the seconds after, Rooney sent another spell in Rula's direction. "Confringo!" Powwwwwwww.

She just laughed and shook her head at his reply, not adding anything more for now. She wasn't going to let herself get distracted as easily as she used to.
Instead of casting a shield charm, Rula quickly dove to the side, the Confringo spell colliding with the floor behind the place she was previously standing, a small fire burning in the dent the explosion had made. Which gave her an idea. Might work, might not, but she was going to try.
"Obscuro!" She quickly cast at Rooney - then, immediately after, pointed her wand at her own head and cast a Bubble-Head Charm. As the bubble was forming, her wand pointed away from her again, and she cast, "Fumos!"
Hopefully that dark grey smoke cloud would be enough to distract him... Now if she could quickly, quietly go over and get behind him to catch him off guard...assuming she was going in the right direction. This cloud was a bit thicker and harder to see through than she'd planned, even with the Bubble-Head Charm. Hm...

B L I M E Y. Rooney had almost let it slip his mind how good Rula could be with her wand and her brain at the same time. Honestly, he expected that people underestimated the Head Girl because she was more in tune with things than ever let on. The blindfold easily formed over his eyes, and it took the boy a second to be able to cast against it. "Finite!" He aimed towards his face, glad that he hadn't cast anything on himself yet as it would have taken that away instead which would have been just his luck.
Clearly, in the second or five it took him to cast and adjust, Rula had cast again and there was a black cloud of smoke taking over the duelling arena. The Head Boy grunted his supposed disapproval, but was actually jealous that he hadn't though of using this tactic right off the bat. It was a good one. One he had used before. Countering the smoke, he and his wand worked together with a "Ventus Duo!" pushing the cloud out of the way and showing Rula's exact position. Clever, clever, clever. His amusement showed on his features and he moved straight into casting again, this time at his partner with a Jelly-Brain Jinx.

Thanks to the smoke cloud, Rula couldn't see whether her blindfold had landed, but hearing that Finite, she smiled. So far so good, it seemed. And she could move in the direction of his voice...
Oh crud.
That blast of wind blew the smoke away, revealing both of their positions, and she wasn't at all as close as she'd aimed to be. And she was a split second too late in casting any defensive spell, the jinx hitting her before she even got the word out.
...What word was it even? Crud. Merlin's beard. Um...um...
"Flipendo!"
...That didn't seem like what she'd been thinking of. Easiest incantation she could think to say though. Not that it was a particularly strong casting of it either.
Ugh. She needed...a spell to help her...focus. What...what kinda spell...?
Think, Rula... Think...

Yes! The plan he had wanted to execute was going nice and in the correct direction. Rooney, had he not been well in concentration on what he was doing would have done a success dance and cheer. However, he was as ready as ever to flick up a shield to block the spell Rula had sent his way. "Protego!" The shield gave him a few seconds to observe the state of his opponent and the success of his own spell. Rula had probably wanted to cast a spell that began with the same letter as what she had cast.
C'mon Rula, get your jelly brain together. This was just getting fun.
Wand still raised, Rooney went ahead and cast once more. You know...because Rula looked a little bit confused and he had to help keep her grounded, right? "Incarcerous"

Hirsch knew, off the bat, that this was going to be an epic duel, complete with strategic spellwork and excellent defensive skills.
And he wasn't wrong.
The man was standing off to one side, a wide, dimpled smile displayed on his face. Not even the sight of the dent in his floor was going to dampen his spirits. It was extra hassle, sure, but nothing some repairing magic couldn't fix. Besides, as of this minute, he was much too preoccupied in admiring the duelling tactics that the Head Boy and Head Girl were displaying.
Unfortunately, the duel had to come to a close before long, cutting his display of appreciation short. Not that there was any need because Rooney had tied Rula up with some ropes, making it almost impossible for her to retaliate. "Well, I guess it's safe to end the duel there," he said, emerging from his spot and making his way towards the two duellers, particularly the Slytherin, "Hold still, Rula." Taking out his wand, he aimed it at the ropes surrounding her and slashed his wand downwards. The ropes broke off, as if they were cut by a smart instrument and fell away. "Better?"
"I have to say, that was an exceptional duel. Both of you have shown clear improvement in your duelling abilities over your time at Hogwarts and, speaking as someone who's taught you for a majority of those years, I cannot be prouder. Well done, both of you."
He was really going to miss pairing these two up for duels.
