It was a lovely September morning, not too hot and not too cold. A perfect day for this lesson! Tristan had set up shop in an empty pasture in front of the barn. He set out bales of hay in a semi circle for the students to sit on, and a black board in front of the semi circle. There was not one clue as to what creature they would be working with today. He wanted it to be a surprise.
There was a throne fashioned out of hay bales, and on it sat Professor Wayland with a grin on his face. Hey if he was going to be waiting for students to arrive he might as well be comfortable. He took a sip of his Chai Tea from his mug, and sat on his hay throne waiting for his students to make their appearance.
OOC: Welcome to the first CoMC Lesson of the term! Though this is our first lesson together, this is not the first CoMC lesson of the year, so please keep that in mind! Please make sure you take a gander at the CoMC Rules while waiting. Class will start in 24 hours. Class has begun so please jump in and join us!
Did the Professor honestly just say they were each going to get the ride or fly with the bird. OHHHH MYYYYY GOSHHH!!! Sully wanted to shout from the roof tops. By far the best Care of Magical Creatures lesson she has ever been to!!! She couldn't sit still, Sully was fidgeting like there was no tomorrow!!
Waiting in line she couldn't believe this, next thing she knew it was her turn. She smiled at the bird. "You are rather handsome" She told him, and Sully could have sworn she heard a soft little tune in reply but who knows, maybe it was just her imagination.
Gripping firming to his tail feathers, Ash took flight. "AHHH!" Sully let a little cry of delight! This was the best day ever, she wanted to hang out with the phoenix all day!! But all too song the amazing flight ended as it was another person's turn. "Thank you Ash, that really was delight" She added as her feet were planted firmly back on the barn floor. Once again Sully thought she heard a grateful tune in reply!
Emmeline blinked at Professor Wayland; had she heard him right? Not only did they get to PET Ash, they got to fly with him?! Her face split into a BIG grin because this was the best day ever! And, and, Professor Wayland had just told the Cambridge girl that anyone could ride the Hippogriffs in the barn!
At the mention of partners, Emmeline immediately looked for her two creature friends: Derf and Stasya. It looked like Derf was partnering with Abey, and Stasya was talking to Olivia and Mr. Head Boy. Buut the professor had said they couldn't fly in three's, so maybe she could join them?
Bounding over to the group, Emmeline smiled at them and burst out: "Hi! Miss Olivia, Mr. Head Boy." She gave them respectful nods; Nanny had taught her that manners were very important, and she thought older kids would be nicer if she was polite. "Stasya! Doyouwanttoflywithme?" She paused briefly and then added quickly: "It's okay if you don't." You know, options...
Seeing Sully go on without him, he got in line on his own. When his turn came, he looked at Ash. "Not too high, okay? I'm a little scared of heights." Then he took hold of Ash's tail feathers and up they went. As Kyle requested, they didn't go very high, maybe a few feet above the air bag. He smiled as they flew, finding it rather easy to hold on for some strange reason. They made it to the barn and came back and he was tempted to let go and find out if that air bag was as soft as it looked. But at the same time, flying holding onto those tail feathers, even if it was just a few feet up, was completely thrilling. When they finally got to the end and he was set gently back down he grinned at the phoenix. "Thank you, Ash! That was fun!"
Etta couldn't believe it. THIS was their main activity? To fly with the phoenix? She jumped out of her seat excitedly and waited, watching a couple of students do the activity. Wow.. she stared in awe at the bird, admiring it's strength and power. She sighed once again.. when finally she DID get the chance to fly. Woot.
She approached the bird slowly, a wide grin on her face. This was so exciting! "Hi there, Ash. How are you?" She wanted to stroke her feathers but she wasn't sure if that was allowed so instead held on the tail feathers, not very tightly, she didn't want it to be painful or something.
But then, without wasting any time, Ash took flight with an excited Prefect holding on to him. It was one of the loveliest experiences and she enjoyed it profusely. The bird whisked her down the length of the barn before bringing her back. She carefully landed on the airbag and juuust sat there for a little bit because it was so comfortable ahem. She pulled herself up on her feet soon and made her way back to her seat, wondering if Ash would be kind enough to give her another ride.

Ugh, the understanding in Rooney's voice...as he acknowledged that Liv had reservations in leaving Stasya behind... Everything that had seemed wrong between them over the past several months melted away. He knew her. Rooney understood how deep her love for people went... He encouraged it.
She'd just been about to concede to his offer to go it alone...when another small Gryffindor girl joined them. This time it was little Emmeline. Oh, her heart... Miss Olivia and Mr. Head Boy... How precious was that? "Emmeline, this is Rooney. You don't have to call him Mr. Head Boy." Gesturing casually to her boyfriend, Liv grinned. "No need for official titles." The ego was already strong with that one. No need to stroke it more. Mhm.
"Well, then... my young Gryffindor loves. We shall leave you to it!" Ushering Mr. Head Boy along with her, as Stasya had found a flight!buddy, she stepped in line for them to wait their turn. Hopefully it wouldn't take too long... She was terribly excited. New experience and what have you....
Oh, that was them... "I'll hold onto you." And he could hold onto the Phoenix. Logical, since he was naturally stronger than she was.

WHAT?! No way!!
They were going to get to …well ride the phoenix for all intents and purposes? That was so cool! And the look on her face told it all. Certainly not one of the more mundane or work-filled/no real play kind of class. Cassie was excited about the opportunity presented to them, waiting as patiently as she could for her turn in the class line. If Ash the phoenix could be patient enough for them all to ride his tail feathers, then she could handle a bit of waiting…right?
The fifth year opted to go on her own. He might be strong enough, but she wasn’t going to tax him just to go with someone else. If there was someone else who’d go with her from her friends. Stepping cautiously up to the phoenix, Cassie reminded herself of the rules. Firm…but not too tight. No further than the barn. “Hi Ash,” she said giving a gentle pet and gaining a preening bird. She smiled and took that as permission, taking a secure enough hold that luckily didn’t get a negative reaction from the creature. Instead, the Ravenclaw soon found herself aloft.
“Woohooo….”
Up…up…and away. Well not really given they weren’t going too far or too high up for that matter. Still, it was a cool feeling and fun for real. If only it was longer or they had more freedom to make it last for alas it was over far too soon and Cass cautiously rejoined everyone else on the ground as Ash brought them back. “Thanks Ash….Professor.”

Confident that her answers were correct, despite the different answers that Brent had written down, Skylar heard the professor say if they were finished they could turn in their parchments because they were moving on. And it seemed the final activity wasn't learning about care of the phoenix, but something further, to which Skylar just stood a moment, petrified. Not out of fear, no, she was a flyer, but more .... well, shock. "Pinch me" she whispered finally to Brent, as she watched her peers have turns before her.
She did hope that there would be feathers left to hold onto though by the time it got to her turn, because well some of classmates she was sure could be ruthless. Not on purpose, of course. And the professor even prepared the ground so if they fell, well they wouldn't get hurt.
Once it was her turn, she wasn't sure if she had to bow like with hippogriffs, but it seemed like the polite thing to do. Bowing, she greeted the phoenix, "Hello Ash, I'm Skylar." Did he understand English? She wasn't exactly sure, but it seemed proper to give a name introduction. It seemed to take positively greeting with flapping its scarlet wings, but she couldn't be completely sure.
Taking gentle hold of the tail feathers, as instructed, Ash seemed to know and took off promptly, to which Skylar instantaneously felt exhilarated. Perhaps not as flying a broom, but only because Ash's route wasn't as high as she would have liked, but it was still a close second. As Ash flew back from the barn, perhaps it was the adrenaline rush of being airborne, but before the phoenix touched her back to the ground, she purposefully let herself fall from the feathers onto the airbag and bounced a little, before rolling off onto the firm ground.
Yup, definitely a good decision to purposefully fall.
"Thank you," she grinned at the phoenix but also at the Professor. She wondered if perhaps she could ride again; not in class, but like in some spare time. Perhaps she could get permission to fly higher next time? If the Professor would allow it?

Waiting for their turn was difficult, and Olivia found herself growing more impatient by the second. SO CLOSE.... YET SO FAR... Anxious to get going, she squeezed her fingers around Rooney's, glancing up into his face every so often. Could Mr. Head Boy feel her excitement? Oh, thank you, Miss Emmeline. Liv quite liked this new nickname. She'd be sure to use it often, in a less public setting.
Mhm.
Latching her arms around Rooney's neck, she held on tightly as they stepped up to take position. The Gryffindor trusted him not to let go and to keep her safe. So... it was a huge deal. Considering those trust issues. They were a-many. Anyway, interlocking her own fingers, Olivia resisted the urge to wrap her legs around him, as well. Whatever she could do to keep herself tightly clung to his side. See, it was strange being 'weightless', without magic.... It didn't feel like the most secure situation to be in.
Rooney would keep her safe. He would. She had to believe that.
AND THEY WERE OFF.... For the first few moments, the Gryffindor buried her face into her boyfriend's shirt. She hated that this was her initial instinct these days; to hide away in the face of something different, but she'd been conditioned under strenious circumstances. Eventually, however, Liv did dare to take a peek; ONLY after several moments of already being up in the sky... With a giggle, she gazed down upon her gathered peers. They looked so small... but it was also sorta like being on broom, you know? Anytime she'd been up in the sky, everyone always appeared so much smaller. Like ants, though. And the wind wasn't lashing her face and hair as being on a broom would.
There may have been some shrieking.... From her? From him?... Who could tell?!

Tristan watched in awe of Ash. He was being so wonderful with all the students. He was probably happy showing off his skills, to be quiet honest. But what else was new there? He grinned at the thought. The students were being very gentle with him as well, which Tristan greatly appreciated!
He took a moment to check the time. "Alright you have about 20 minutes left!" Hopefully everyone that wanted a ride had gotten one. It seemed as if the line was dwindling. He then watched as Ash took off with Rooney and Olivia. He wondered what it felt like to be that much in love with someone. Quickly the thought left his mind, as Ash flew them across the length of the barn.
OOC: Alright you have about 23 hours left to get your rides in!!

ACTUALLY Derf knew of a time where a muggle HAD owned a kneazle...but she was blind so perhaps that didn't really count.
Anyway, that story wasn't NEARLY as important as the task at hand - RIDING ON ASH'S TAIL FEATHERS!
Wasting no time in intertwining his fingers with Abey's, Derf had little trouble keeping up and actually wished that they could move their legs faster so they could reach Ash more quickly. Side-along Apparition...they needed to be able to do that as of three weeks ago, clearly.
"What s-s-song is that?" he asked, blinking at his Gryffindor.
OH OH IT WAS THEIR TURN NOW! Not letting go of his friend's hand, Derf tightened his hold there and then reached out to hold on to Ash's tail feathers. "Before we take off...I would jus-s-st like to thank you for doing this-s-s," he said to the phoenix all wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide eyed. "This-s-sis-s-stotallyadreamcometrue."

"It's-" Abey began, and then for his explanation, he launched back into song again. "Come fly with me let's fly, let's fly awayyyyyyyy..." And then, after beaming at Derf, he properly explained. "It's 'Come Fly With Me'. I don't know who sings it though; it's a really old muggle song."
GAAAASPPPPPPPPP!!!!!! FLYIINNNNGGGGGG!
Abey had flown on a broom hundreds and thousands and millions and dozens of times, but it didn't at ALL compare to flying via PHOENIX. Hand in hand with Derf, he approached the BIG BEAUTIFUL BIRD, practically BUZZING with excitement. Adding on to what Derf had said (and nodding because yes, him too, him too!), Abey spoke in Arabic, "Hi Ash, I'm Abey and I'm native to Egypt too!" because in his mind Ash would totally understand him because EGYPT. ARABIC. AHHHHHH.
Then, firmly but VERY GENTLY EVEN THOUGH HE WAS MEGA EXCITED, Abey reached out to hold onto Ash's tail feathers too, and squeezed Derf's hand as he did so.
"EEEEEEEEE!" he squealed excitedly as the pair of them were lifted up into the air, and Abey suddenly felt like he didn't weigh anymore than a feather or anything, that if he let go he would simply float back down to Earth. NOT that he was going to let go, even if it wasn't much of a drop, BECAUSE HE WAS TOUCHING A PHOENIX AHHHHH!
This was such a beautiful day and an amazing thing and Abey thought he was going to cRY he was so overwhelmed with emotion. GOOD EMOTION.

Everyone was getting up to go towards the Phoenix. Noelle stood but turned to look for Olly when he was suddenly in her arms. She giggled. "Howd you know I was going to pick you?" She asked, giving him a wink. "Of course I'd fly with you." Did they need to get in line? One at a time??
Noelle held Ollys hand and waited their turn. Her eyes following the Phoenix.
"Intuition." Olly just grinned at Noelle and gripped her hand. Of course they would be flying together. Of course. He waited eagerly for their turn, watching the others who went in front of them. It definitely looked fun. And it seemed like such a once in a lifetime opportunity. How many people had flown with a phoenix in their lives? Whatever the number was, Olly would soon be one of them.
"Come on, it's our turn!" Olly pulled Noelle with him as he approached the phoenix. He grabbed on to his tail feathers and kept his other hand gripped in Noelle's. "Like this?" He had not thought ahead about how exactly they would both be riding comfortably.

Noelle watched as the others took their turns one by one. She glanced over at the professor a few times hello. And waited excitedly for their turn.
And this was it.
Noelle was pulled forward by Olly, though she was right on his heels. She kept hold of his hand. "Hey Ash, hope you don't mind me reaching for your feathers. You're so strong taking everyone for rides." She could have gone on and on, but honestly, she was ready to ride the ride. She did admire the bird more closely now.
Taking hold of the birds feathers and keeping hold of Olly's other hand, she squealed with glee as the bird lifted them in the air and started flying around.
This. Was. Heaven.
This is the animal she wanted to when she turned.

Rooney was definitely ready to take a solo ride with Ash the Phoenix so that no younger student would be left alone, especially if they were showing concerns about the activity. However, he was gifted the presence of his love now that another younger student offered to pair with Miss Stasya. He laughed at how he was addressed, offering Miss Emmeline Sparks his hand to shake. "Rooney Bronwyn, at your service, Miss Emmeline. No need for the Head Boy. It's only my title for a year." Unless he could convince the school to keep him on indefinitely in the role as it was honestly just made for him. It didn't matter if there had been staff reservations about him. He had worked for this all day, every day and knew that everyone knew that of him. Even if they too didn't like him. It wasn't a secret. Never had been.
His dreams were public.
"Will you two definitely be okay?" He asked, concerned for the two younger students to be paired and not necessarily knowing what may happen. It would be perfectly okay for he and Liv to split and take one of them each. He wouldn't mind and he sure knew that Liv wouldn't mind either.
But it was as it was and he was to ride with Olivia. Fly with Olivia. Soar with Olivia. Do absolutely everything with Olivia, as he planned to do for the entirety of his being. Dropping a kiss to her forehead, Rooney made sure that she was held on enough that he couldn't lose her, going so far as to hook his belt through one of her loops too. For protection. Just in case. Being certain and all. As his hand held tight enough, they were off into the air with Ash who was not the only thing in the air creating an absolutely delightful noise. The music to Rooney's ears was the giggling that came from his girlfriend, a sound that he longed to hear very moment of every day and had gone a while without having to work for it. It was pure perfection.
The squealsing noises from the pair on their voyage had definitely been Rooney Bronwyn as he realised just how he much he never wanted this moment to end and then voiced it. Loud and proud. To the world. "I'm going to marry Olivia Lynn Phillips!"
And then it was over and his feet were reunited with the floor, his heart thud thud thudding as he thought only about his future. The future with the girl whose hand he had not yet let go of.
After Zarina got her first ride in she felt like she was on top of the world. She felt she needed to do it again. The experience was just too good to pass up. They were only flying towards the barn so it wasn't that bad. She waited on line and her heart was beating from the excitement. She beamed when it was her turn next. She stepped up and grabbed the phoenix's tail lightly and she muttered, "Alright let's do this..!" and then she was lifted up yet again and was flying towards the barn. This was pretty cool to be a birds eye view. She smiled so wide and laughed a little.
Zae realized she was going down and was going to the ground. Aww man that was a shame. She let the next student ride. She could keep doing this lesson for hours. Zae was still shaking but it was just from nerves. Zae made her way to the Professor to thank him. Like seriously cool lesson. "Thanks Professor. Awesome idea for a lesson.." she beamed at him and was admiring his good looks for like a few seconds.

Derf thought that flying on a broom was one of the most freeing experiences he could have, but there was just SOMETHING about this that topped it. Which was kind of funny considering how he had ZERO control over where they were going or how fast or how for or basically EVERYTHING he was in control of while on a broom. Maybe it was that he was with Abey and they were being guided and taken on a journey by a creature so innately good?
Maybe he should just stop trying to understand his feelings right now and just focus on how NEAT this was. Yes. He was going to do that.
Tears were forming in his eyes - totally because of the wind blowing in his face from the wind - and he was torn between looking down at the view, over at Abey to share in each other's joy, and up at Ash to observe the manner in which the great bird's wings flapped and how all the muscles and skeletal structure were making this possible. This all basically resulted in his head going round and round in circles every 30 seconds to a minute or so since he couldn't focus on just one.
And then it all came to an end all too soon and he felt his feet dragging against the ground as Ash brought him and Abey back down.

Tristan quickly checked his watched. Time was dwindling rather quickly. That was when you knew everyone was having a great time. He was having a great time watching the students enjoy their once in a life time ride on a Phoenix tail. he was happy to be the one to give that experience to them. But....time.
"You have about 5 minutes everyone!" He didn't want to end their time so quickly...he knew a few may not even get their chance to ride...though he was sure something could be arranged.
OOC: He guys! You have about an hour and 45 minutes to get your rides in! In my next post I will be talking about an extra credit opportunity so please be aware and check it out!

See? This was the thing she was talking about. Olly and Noelle synced.
Noelle watched as the others took their turns one by one. She glanced over at the professor a few times hello. And waited excitedly for their turn.
And this was it.
Noelle was pulled forward by Olly, though she was right on his heels. She kept hold of his hand. "Hey Ash, hope you don't mind me reaching for your feathers. You're so strong taking everyone for rides." She could have gone on and on, but honestly, she was ready to ride the ride. She did admire the bird more closely now.
Taking hold of the birds feathers and keeping hold of Olly's other hand, she squealed with glee as the bird lifted them in the air and started flying around.
This. Was. Heaven.
This is the animal she wanted to when she turned.
Olly grinned at Noelle when their feet lifted off the ground and they started flying. But then he wasn't looking at her. He was looking at the sky around them and the ground below. Everything looked amazing from up here. He was mesmerized by the view. It was definitely something he wanted to paint. He did his best to memorize it. Sure, he could fly by on a broom to see the same angle, but it wasn't the same. Nothing could ever be as cool as flying via a phoenix.
Emmeline smiled and waved as Olivia and Rooney went off to join the flight line. It looked like they were having a good time anyway. Bouncing up and down on her toes, she dashed into her place in line next to Stasya. "Are you ready for this?!" Because she, personally, could not BELIEVE this was happening. It was like something out of a dream, and she really hoped she wouldn't wake up soon in her bed in Gryffindor Tower to find that that was all it had been. CoMC lessons were always the best, but this was felt like one of those "too good to be true" things Nanny had always warned her about.
When it was finally her and Stasya's turn, Emmeline beamed at Ash and chirped loudly: "Hiiii Ash!" She glanced around furtively because she wasn't sure this was strictly allowed -- she hoped it was -- before she stroked Ash's head and down his back carefully with two fingers. His feathers felt comfortably warm, just like Professor Wayland said they would. She thought he was the most beautiful bird she'd ever seen, which was okay to think because her pet Minerva was the most beautiful owl she'd ever seen. So it wasn't bad or disloyal to her best owl friend to think that of Ash, nope.
Turning to Stasya, Emmeline asked her friend: "D'you want to hold on to his tail?" It was only fair since Emmeline had already petted Ash and all. She waited until Stasya was ready before taking her friend's other hand so they could ride together. She was just wondering how Ash would know when to take flight when he spread his gorgeous wings and they were off!
Emmeline felt a curious sensation of being totally weightless; this was fun but also slightly scary. Would they have weight again on the ground? She was soon distracted by the fact that they were FLYING and she quickly decided that she absolutely had to fly with every creature that could safely fly with witches, because this was the best! The swooping feeling in her stomach, the wind buffetting around them, it felt kind of like she herself had wings in addition to Ash. "THIS IS SO COOOL!" she shouted as they soared the length of the barn. She never wanted this experience to end and felt a little sad when Ash came in for a brilliant landing. Regaining the sense of weight wasn't bad after all; Ash was a pro! Well, of course he was, he was a phoenix.
"Thank you, Ash!" Emmeline gave him another quick stroke after they'd landed. Turning to her friend, she smiled broadly once again: "Thanks for riding with me, Stasya!" She hoped her friend had had as much fun as she had; she didn't think she'd stop smiling all day.

They were not going to take care of the phoenix. Instead, Professor Wayland gave them opportunity to fly with Ash. And that was cool. Watching all her classmates flew away with the majestic creature, Ava waited until it's her turn. "Alright, I am ready." She said to the phoenix as she got her turn to fly. The Gryffindor gripped at its tail firmly, not tugging it, as the Professor had mentioned. She wasn't afraid of height so this would be an exciting experience for her. And now they're ready to take off.
WOHOOOOOO!!!
The phoenix flapped its wings and took her fly higher and higher. Even though was not as comfortable as flying with broomstick or even winged horse. But it's still great. Ash the phoenix took her flying for like... five minutes or so? Because now they both have landed again to the ground. Oh, what an experience.

Tristan checked his watch again, and it was unfortunately time to end class. "Alright everyone! Time's up!" He called out. He whistled a quick tune and as soon as Ash was finished with the last ride, he flew over and landed on top of the black board. Luckily, it wasn't one of those old ones that you could flip around...otherwise Ash might have been hanging upside down.
"Before you all leave I have an Extra Credit opportunity for whomever would like to participate." He paused, as he was sure that would peak many students interest. "I have an over abundance of Infant creatures that I need help taking care of. You will have a choice from a list that will be on the blackboard in a moment. It will be a first come first serve basis on which creature will be assigned to you. To get full credit, you must demonstrate proper care for them. Including feeding, cleaning out their cages/pens/stalls, bathing them, training them, and anything else they may need. For this assignment you must also write down your interactions with the baby, how they change in size and appearance, and anything you find interesting about them. Also," he stopped for a moment to catch his breath, "there may be an opportunity for you to adopt these creatures at the end of term. If you are a seventh year, you will be able to adopt them and take them home. Everyone else will have the option to adopt and either take them home for summer and bring them back next term, keep them here until you graduate, or take them home for summer and they are yours to keep for ever. It is your choice, and we can talk more about it closer to the end of term." He hoped that would get more students involved. These creatures needed homes.
With a flick of his wand a list of creatures appeared on the blackboard.

Kyle excitedly filled out his form, taking it up to the blackboard. Just before reaching there, he stopped, looked around, pulled a pencil out of his pocket and added next to Kneazles, "Because my dad's afraid of them." Then, without much ceremony, he dropped it into the box. Smiling, but not quite ready to say anything to the professor, he just waved and made his way along.
Extra credit for learning how to take care of creatures? Yes, please! Emmeline already knew that she was going to be doing this extra credit assignment, whatever it was. She scooted to the edge of her seat and listened attentively; Professor Wayland had just made this day even BETTER! Because...
BABIES!!!!!
And, and, they could maybe take one HOME! This was the best news Emmeline had had all term! She raced to pick up a form, scrambled back to her seat, and wrote down the details in such excitement that the ink was all blotchy and unreadable. Her heart was hammering like mad, because she really wanted to take care of a baby Niffler; Nifflers were her favorite creatures in the barn! But so many creatures were so awesome that she was sure she would love taking care of any of them. Frowning down at the parchment, Emmeline pulled her wand from her holster and muttered: "Evanesco!" to get rid of the messy ink that made no sense as it was. Forcing herself to take deep breaths, she proceded to fill out the form again so that the professor could actually read it. That was important, you know. She'd made sure to pick creatures that could possibly live at home too, so sadly things like winged horses were out.
Emmeline tapped her foot impatiently until the ink was dry enough that she was sure it wouldn't smudge or anything before jumping off the hay bale and running to the blackboard again. She carefully laid her parchment in the extra credit box, and beamed at Professor Wayland: "Thank you soooo much for letting us look after babies!" Today really was a dream come true for the Gryffindor, and did she mention how excited she was?

As people had continued going on spins with Ash, Stasya had kept watching. t was entirely possible she was coming up with her own plans, seeing as there had been no way she wasn’t going on a flight herself whether or not she got a partner. It wasn’t like she wouldn’t have opportunity after all, assuming Ash lived in the barn too. Even if he didn’t, she figured she could manage to get the phoenix to like her over time. So far she hadn’t gotten any of the other creatures annoyed with her so she didn’t think Ash would be any different. He just hadn’t noticed her amongst everyone else in the lesson. She had beamed at Rooney as he had graciously offered to step back in order for her to fly with Liv, too. But before she could say anything, Emmeline had jumped in and offered too. Either way, she kind of liked being called Miss Stasya. Kind of like how she’d liked any of the things Liv had called her too.
Like one of the older girl’s Gryffindor loves. Mhm. She liked that, but she also liked Emmeline and it was easy enough to fall into step next to her creature!friend!roommate as the two older students had taken their turn flying. Giggling a little as she heard Rooney professing his plans for the future from way up there in the sky, she turned to Emmeline as she had spoken. “Sure. I think I can hang on,” she replied, curling her fingers tightly around the other girl’s as Ash had come over and Emmeline had stroked his back. She wasn’t jealous at all. She could just pet Ash later, sometime when she was down here to see Dobby and all the other creatures. Plus, she was going to need to hold on like she’d promised, curling her free hand around the phoenix’s tail feathers as gently but tightly as she could.
It wasn’t hard to hold on, either. Way easier than she’d expected, when Ash had spread his wings and took off, her and Emmeline dangling from his tail as if it wasn’t strange at all. It probably wasn’t, actually, if she thought about it. The two of them probably weighed less than some of the bigger students after all, and she felt like Ash knew they were his people too. “Definitely co-o-ool!,” she agreed, her voice trailing off into the wind as they had looped around into a circle before gracefully coming in for a landing and she’d beamed again once her feet were on the ground. “I’ll see you again later, Ash,” she vowed, giving the bird her best grateful smile.
“It was awesome,” she said brightly to Emmeline, before she’d turned her head to look toward Professor Wayland as he had announced time was up. Time was up AND THERE WERE BABY CREATURES TO CARE FOR. There was definitely internal flailing going on, even though the petite blonde had tried to resist actual flailing. She figured her friends could tell just looking at her, and she KNEW Emmeline was excited.
She had filled out the form carefully, putting thought into her choices of creature even as she had already decided she was going to help care for any of the other baby creatures that might not get claimed. She’d be down at the barn anyway, so it just made sense. Plus, she could take home whichever one got assigned to her. Dobby could have a friend. Mama wouldn’t mind. She knew she wouldn’t, and the blonde confidently walked up to turn in her form before turning her attention to the professor. “Thank you for the lesson. It was awesome, and I’ll be back after classes to visit Dobby and the other creatures too,” she said, just in case he didn’t know that by now.

When their amazing flight with the phoenix ended, Olly pulled Noelle over to where the professor was standing near a blackboard. After just a couple more minutes the last flyers were finishing up and class was nearly over except apparently something else was happening. Olly listened intently and beamed at Noelle at the information they were given. Take care of babies? That sounded so cute.
Olly of course grabbed a form. The problem was what animal to put down. He would love to take care of any of them. His first thought was, of course, crup. He definitely knew how to take care of crups. He loved crups. But he probably wouldn't be able to adopt one considering he already had one. Olly continued thinking about the form for a few moments before filling it out and turning it in. "Thanks professor, for the lesson and stuff. This will be really fun." He lingered a bit before leaving, waiting for Noelle to fill out the form so they could leave together.
