Théo made his way out of the stall relieved and ready for all the procrastinating he was going to be doing. Since well like usual he was going to be saving all his homework for the last minute and well

#TeamDoItLater.

There was just so much other stuff he could be doing instead of homework.

He went to the mirror to smile in it and see whatever.

He did not really know why he was looking into the mirror. Its not like he could tell from that if he got taller or not.

She'd lost her lizard.

It'd been only a few minutes out of his container and it was safe to say that little Einstein was nowhere to be found. Okay so maybe that wasn't entirely true. Somewhere back on the landing that led to the sixth floor she spotted the not so little guy scurrying along the wall. Had to admit, with him being that size, it was a little odd to see him moving along the wall with such agility. Pretty soon he'd be too big for the wall completely, then she suspected he'd allow himself to get used to the floor. One thing was certain, it would be an adjustment from his current life.

"Einstein! No! Come back!" She hissed, trying not to draw too much attention to herself or the lizard that now spanned the length of her arm from tip to tail.

He was no more than a garden lizard, however she'd been eager to see how big they could get before they became more of a hindrance to themselves than a help and whether being bigger would inevitably create behavioural and lifetsyle changes. A simply enlarging spell did that. Every time he grew, she reapplied the spell just a little to ensure he didn't suddenly pop at the sockets or otherwise explode. Gradual worked much better than suddenly expanding a small body to large proportions.

Further and further down the Sixth Floor he led her, until he suddenly ducked inside a room. Jessa ducked in after him, unwilling to take the chance that he'd found bigger prey he wanted to attempt and her missing it....except....on the inside....was Theo.....and stalls.....and mirrors....--so THIS was what the inside of the boy's bathroom looked liked. Huh. "Have you seen my lizard?"

"Lizard???"

In the boys bathroom.

He quickly looked around but was an lizard easy to find or he didn't know. He never wanted one.

"hope its not in a toilet right now?"

That would be gross.

No but really, this was the inside of the boy's bathroom? It looked about the same as the inside of the girl's bathroom if you asked her. Just a few things here and there...the sink looked pretty much the sa--she was looking for her lizard. Right. Circe he was a quick little devil. His imposed size was clearly not... slowing him...down.

"The toilet?????" Noooooooooo!!!!

Jessa didn't want to start this experiment over again. The First lizard had simply been a disaster through and through and the second...well....she wasn't exactly sure what happened to the second but Einstein was meant to be THE ONE!!

Her concern was mounting. Montmorency hadn't seen him when he slipped into the bathroom and he wasn't seeing him after a search of the stalls. Merlin's beard, how did you lose a lizard the size of an arm in such a relatively small space??? You'd think he would stick out like a sore thumb among all the cobbled stone.

Exiting the stall, the young girl began looking about the room with a new urgency. If he proper got away and was making back for the grounds, she could forget finding him and if he was gone long enough that enlarging spell would wear off--something for which she wasn't so sure of the sudden side effects yet--then he was likely doomed.

"Do you see any windows he may have crawled through? If not..." Jessa drifted back to the door, being sure she was blocking the entrance.

Windows. Where there even opens windows in this place. Théo quickly looked around to see and NOPE all windows were closed and weren't they on the sixth floor so it would be pretty bad if the lizard went out the window.

Because maybe it would get scared and make its way back towards the door and she could grab him.

It was an okay plan.

Good. One less thing to worry about. No open windows meant that despite not yet seeing him, the lizard was still somewhere inside here and not on his way to an early grave.

Jessa tapped her chin at the suggestion of an explosion. It was loud enough that it might just work....but too big and they could be looking at a night in the dungeons for destruction of school property. Typically if she was gonna be in the dungeons, she wasn't trying to be confined to one room.

Hmmm....

"Sounds like the beat idea we've got at the moment." She conceded after a moment's pause. "Cast it in that direction and I'll see if I can get a shield going around us." He'd have to come stand by her but she figured that was a given.

The Ravenclaw took yet another look about the room, in case they could forgo this explosion but when Einstein still didn't appear, it was all too clear they had little choice. Jessa reached for her wand. "Ready when you are."

Uh wait. She didn't have a better idea. Okay Théo was not that confident he would be able to keep the explosion quiet enough so they don't get detention. Too late now since he was not going to back out and well he would be helping her. So cool. He nodded to her, took out his wand and pointed it at the floor where she was pointing.

The wand work could have been better, what with the broom still having tell tale signs of the tie woven into the wooden structure of the broom. The blue and silver decorated the broom in elaborate patterns, interrupted only by patches of wood, before popping into a flurry of silver and blue at the end.

The Ravenclaw extended a hand to him. "Tie, please."

How incompetent would she be as a researcher if she kept losing her test subjects?

Wait, he wasn't her pet but one of his experiments. He was a little confused but since this was Jessa. It all really made sense. So what were they going to do. He watched her do her magic and well it was so simple even he could get it. One less tie to worry about. He grabbed the broom and nodded.

Between the two of them, she was sure they'd be able to pull Einstein from whatever little crevice he'd taken refuge in. It was a matter of making him find the spot less desirable. Further down the line she went, swinging very carefully with her makeshift broom both so she wouldn't break it--because how would her tie turn out?--and to keep the noise to a reasonable level.

The Ravenclaw dropped her broom the moment Theo shouted. Einstein??
Where????? The girl spun on her heels, twisting this way and that until she caught the sight of the second half of his body trying to wiggle away.

With the Gryffindor now on the floor, this was left up to her. Jessa dove to the ground, grabbing at the tip of the enlarged lizard's tail. Its head spun in her direction as if warning to let him go and that was the moment she placed a firm hold by his neck. Poor thing was scared, that was all. It'd been an exciting day for him. "There there. You're safe now. Gonna get you back to your tank and get you some lunch."

It wiggled about, clearly not understanding her promise but she wasn't letting go. Slowly she moved to a sitting position, trying her best to calm him. "You alright? You took a spill there." Blue eyes landed on Theo. Nothing broken? If something broken, could she see?

Which was a good thing? Since nothing broke and nobody was in trouble. Théodore patted the dirt off his trousers got into a sitting position.

"Yeah I'm fine. I've had worse falls. So you got him?"

Mostly off brooms and those are not fun.

"What in the bloody blazes do you think you're doing?" The professor said it almost too calmly. He didn't get mad easily, but when an animal was in jeopardy, even a small lizard, he wasn't one to contain his temper.

Now that was a cool spell. Théo would have to remember that one for future use. You know after he figured out how it worked and all the fun stuff. What would he like? Did it involve flying? All these thoughts flew out of his head once a Professor appeared. Why wasn't he here like 5 minutes ago with the lizard on the loose? He could have been a big help.

What was he suppose to say in situations like this?

"What in the bloody blazes do you think you're doing?" The professor said it almost too calmly. He didn't get mad easily, but when an animal was in jeopardy, even a small lizard, he wasn't one to contain his temper.

What would he like? Did it involve flying? All these thoughts flew out of his head once a Professor appeared. Why wasn't he here like 5 minutes ago with the lizard on the loose? He could have been a big help.

What was he suppose to say in situations like this?

"Uh nothing really Professor"

Jessa snorted at the mere SUGGESTION that ANY of her experiments could be boring. "They're all very exciting but sure, I'll pick one of the more exciting ones, just 'cause you asked." She teased, stroking the top of Einstein's head in an extra effort to calm him down. So far, the spell had been doing wonders. Not another wiggle coming from the little guy.

The sudden entrance of the Professor quickly garnered her attention. Merlin's beard talk about inconvenient timing. They sure could have used the Creature Professor of all Professors literally minutes ago. What a day.

"Well not entirely nothing. Einstein got away while I was cleaning his container. Tracked him down to here and Theo helped me catch him."

She glanced down at the little guy, smiling a bit at how much calmer he'd become. "He's fine now, I was just about to take him back upstairs. Little guy had us diving all over to catch him. He's pretty quick for a garden lizard." Pretty big too thanks to the many reapplications of the enlarging charm. [b]"Couldn't afford to let him get away in the school. He'd likely get hurt--or die--before I could finish my studies.

Jessa rose to her feet then, thinking the reptile had had enough stimulation for one day. "I'll get him back to his safe place, later Theo." And with that she headed by the Professor trying to get to the door. There were done here, yeah? Lizard captured, rescus mission accomplished? She could go now?

Tristan was just about to respond to Theo when he heard 'garden lizard'....and the lizard in that tank was as long as his forearm. This was not good. Not good at all. Blocking the door, he commented,"I don't think his safe place is with you, Miss Cambridge." He paused, "Hand me the lizard, now." He knew exactly what this young lady was doing to this poor creature now that she had revealed it's species.

"Experimentation on animals is not allowed here at Hogwarts. I don't know how long you have been doing this, but you must stop immediately. Miss Cambridge, I will be taking 5 points for being in the boys bathroom, and 10 points for experimenting on animals. If I find out that you are experimenting on anymore animals it will be detention...or worse." He paused, "I will also be speaking to your head of house to ensure that you don't continue your experiments. Animals are not our play things to do whatever we wish with them. They are creatures that should be treated with respect and care. Plucking a lizard out of it's natural habitat and making it far larger than it ever should be is not okay, and what would have happened if your engorgement charm made it explode? I am sure you would have just plucked another lizard without a single care." His voice was gradually getting louder. "You also attempted to take its free will away by casting a Fidelis charm on it, which I heard as I walked in. That is NOT how you get an animal to trust you. Cruelty to animals is not ok, and definitely not tolerated." That last bit he yelled. He took a deep breath. Normally, he was a pretty laid back guy but this was a huge no no in his book.

"As for you Mister Montmorency, I will be taking 5 points from you for aiding her in recapturing the lizard that shouldn't have been in her possession in the first place." He paused taking a deep breath and exhaling. If anything riled him up more, it was experimentation on animals. Altering animals was never ok.

"Now...again, hand me the lizard, and make your way back to your common rooms. If you are hoarding any other creatures I suggest you take all charms off of them and release them." Tristan waited patiently for Jessa to hand over the lizard. He hoped she realized how serious of an offense this was.

Théo had no idea what was going on know. He thought Jessa was just going to leave with her lizard. But nope all of a sudden. The doorway is blocked and now they are getting a lecture. Or she is really. But Théo was not really following because all she did was put it in a cage. What was all this was experimenting on it. And now she was losing points.

WHAT????

Whoa Whoa Professor he did nothing but help her. Why was he losing points? Is it better to have a lizard running around the castle? Well, it would make the castle more interesting.

"But Professor we couldn't just leave a lizard loose in a bathroom"

Really, he would be able to go if he knew their could be a lizard watching. He had to forget about ghosts everytime.

The graying of the skin at her face was no trick of the light. The Ravenclaw was actively losing colour as the Professor made demands to hand over Einstein. What's worst, the constant rise in his voice and the way he made her out to be a criminal before taking 10 points for something she'd never been told not to do a day in her life.

"With all due respect, Professor," She began, not making any moves to hand over the lizard just yet. A lot of hard work had gone in to Einstein. She'd finally found the right rate so he didn't explode like the first had and he didn't suddenly suffer some bone malfunction like the second. This was what progress was all about. Weeks and weeks of study....gone....just like that.....? "I've never seen that rule in the handbook and I've read it cover to cover. We turn rats to goblets in Transfiguration class, real rats. We experiment on them in order to acquire the practice and knowledge. How's it any different from practising a charm on them?" It didn't seem there was any real differentiation. "I apologize if it's made you feel uncomfortable, Professor, it's a shame it has but it's not uncommon in this school. I've never been warned not to and while I accept the point loss for the bathroom, this lizard is still perfectly healthy and aiding in my education."

Her brows creased, the reluctance to hand over Einstein growing exponentially. She wasn't a rule breaker. This wasn't a rule, unless he was making it now, in which case it was hardly fair to punish without a warning.

"The Animalis Fidelis charm is on our curriculum. It doesn't affect free will in any way, it simply calms the creature down and the effects are not long lasting. He was spooked and in danger of hurting himself. I was trying to make the situation better. I don't think I understand how that could be wrong." SO MANY WEEKS OF RESEARCH THOUGH. How did one simply...hand it over...? Sooner or later they WOULD have gotten to this charm. It was in the text and everything. She would be having a word with her Head of House too.

"Theo's right, we couldn't have left it to run loose. He'd get hurt and others would too in the process." The Gryffindor hardly deserved to lose anything, even if she did. Once again, no one had every told her this was against any rule. Him saying it again and again didn't necessarily make it true. That being the case, keeping the points off as a lesson was pointless. It...hadn't taught her anything really except that you could suddenly have all your research dashed in the space of one afternoon.

Her lips parted, as if to protest but they closed again. He was...this was.....she wasn't trying to learn about creatures, least of all lizards. Speaking to him wouldn't help, he'd just proven to be one of the least objective individuals in this entire castle and her focus wasn't on the creatures themselves in the first place, it was the effect of spells over time. Much harder to study on inanimate, non-living objects. She'd thought this a better alternative to testing on her school mates but apparently not--and Merlin did she hate riddles. Every day, every time she wanted to get back to her common room for some rest. Bloody riddles, always riddles, all the time. Riddles she didn't typically get. Riddles that kept her locked out.

There was no hiding the disappointment on her face. The Ravenclaw felt nothing shy of let down. Jessa didn't mind lizard guts, she minded depending solely on books and the words of others in order to learn. It wasn't how she learned. The girl was neither a visual nor audio learner. She was only ever really in her element when she could actively participate in whatever she was learning. Telling her to go to the library and flip through a few pages...was that the only possibility so long as she attended this school?

Reluctantly but with little fight in her, Jessa handed over the lizard. She was thoroughly dejected and in no mood to argue it. "You'll have to gradually reduce his size before letting him go. It'll work terribly otherwise." It was a balance he would have to strike til the little guy was normal sized again. "I'd like to head back to my Common Room now." Her voice was small, barely audible. She didn't wanna watch her hard work get released.
