| Term 46: May - August 2017 Term Forty-Six: Guests from Ilvermorny (Sept 2092 - June 2093) |
04-21-2017, 11:24 PM
| | Alohomocha Directly down from the double glass doors at the very end of the hallway is Ilvermorny's wizarding Starbucks. A flowery, sweet scent mingles with the sharp coffee smell, inviting students and their professors alike into a place that feels like their home across the big blue pond of the Atlantic. If you are in need of a steamy latte, rich mocha, simple black coffee, soothing tea, or cold smoothie, then Alohomocha is a necessary stop. Don't forget to ask for some apple pie, doughnuts, muffins, and other sweets (both No-Maj and wizard) with your beverage for these delights are on the menu as well.
The temperature of the space is comfortable, the lighting only slightly dim, and the welcoming and warm atmosphere will make anyone who ventures in feel quite at home. Besides the ordering station, the space is taken up by a series of tall cushioned stools and circular table-tops. Hanging on the walls are paintings and drawings made by fellow Ilvermornians. Drink, relax, gossip -- this is the perfect space to do all of those things.
A friendly Pukwudgie named Edward will flitter here and there as he makes coffee. Show him the upmost respect ... or else.

"Hear me out, Mr. Allen." She took a sip of her drink before continuing. "What would the main reasons be for having this pool? Would there be an appropriate dress code? Who would clean and maintain it? Who would supervise swimmers in case anything went wrong?" Asking questions, lots of questions, she found, was the best way to knock down an idea without actually, you know, saying no. More often than not, she found the kids gave up.
Smiling, she sat back in her chair and waited for the answers. Well Maddox had not expected her to say the same thing back to him. He liked it. What he didn't like was all the questions. Because those could all be answered after they had a pool. It wasn't his job to answer logistical questions. But guess he had to answer them. Since this is part his idea and all. "For fun and relaxation. Like why the castle has a hot spring and a igloo" Like really it was amazing what this Castle had. Oh dress code. Well how did anyone enforce the dress code anyway. "Prefects and the Pres and Vice Pres i guess for the last two or maybe. Professors could help. Same with seventh years and whoever."
See he had the answers. Might not be good ones but answers they are. "Plus it would be awesome and only for the remainder of this year."
Since he was gone and well after that he didnt care.

Since he was gone and well after that he didnt care. "It hardly seems fair to put in a pool only to remove it when the year is through, don't you think?" The brunette took a sip of her drink, noting that while she didn't think this pool thing was a great idea, she couldn't deny that she liked to lounge in the water every now and again. The Moxinator in a swimsuit, though? No one could handle THAT much beauty. "I'll tell you what, Mr. Allen, you write up a written plan and get signatures from one hundred of your schoolmates and I'll seriously consider your proposal."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jesús Rodríguez Sixth Year | madelyn. Jesús, for one, had been extremely grateful for his elimination from the IMPS competition. He felt less stressed and had been able to relax just a bit more (not that he was doing much relaxing anyway.) As such, the Thunderbird found himself doing a sort of countdown until they all packed up and left Hogwarts. For good. The school had its charm, sure, but it had been one bad situation after another, and Jesús was more than happy to put this term behind him.
He found himself in need of coffee (whatever they served at Hogwarts was definitely not coffee,) so he made his way to Alohomocha and ordered something strong. And while he should've had his nose to the books, studying and finishing up any last minute assignments, Jesús felt that school was, in the grand scheme of things, incredibly overrated. Still, he needed to at least pass before figuring out whether or not he was actually going to continue through with his seventh year at Ilvermorny. The sixth year found an empty table towards the back, and sat down, allowing his coffee to cool for a bit. Picking up his book, Jesús sat back and thumbed through the pages to continue reading.

THEY WERE OVER! Those competitions were over and the champions were all in one piece. Madelyn wasn't one of those competitors and she was so glad about that. She had other things this term that had kept her pretty busy. The biggest thing was the letter in her hand that said she hadn't made the national cheer squad. It was a hit to her confidence and she needed something to pick up her mood.
Coming to the coffee area she thought possibly she would splurge and get a sugary drink for once instead of the least amount of sugar possible. She could run an extra mile. Going up to the counter she ordered and waited. As she waited she couldn't help to notice one Jesus sitting alone. Taking her cup she headed his way. "Where is your girlfriend?" A smile on her face clearly joking, though she did assume there was something going on between him and Valarie.

The noisiness never bothered him (in fact he appreciated it, as he was reminded of home,) and there was a certain coziness to the place. He took a long sip of his coffee and placed the cup down; being so engrossed in his book, Jesús hadn't realized someone was heading towards him, let alone was going to strike up conversation. The sixth year looked up, placing a finger to mark where he'd left off reading and raised his brows momentarily. Madelyn.
"Don't have one," he replied with a smile, "and even if I did, I doubt she'd mind me having a conversation with a pretty girl." He motioned to the chair across from him. "Might as well sit, right?" He would never understand Valerie's dislike of Madelyn; Jesús thought the girl was nice, at least she was always pleasant with him. She had school spirit, and didn't seem to have any sort of malicious intent in anything she did. "How are you?"

Really, how was she not going to when he said about a pretty girl. "Well I'm positive if Valarie knew it was me she wouldn't be thrilled that you were talking to me." Ignoring his no of having a girlfriend. She had been watching them all term and every time she saw them she felt they seemed closer and closer. As much as she had wanted to find him to dance during that boat night she wouldn't have even gone close knowing he had come with her.
Taking a seat across from the Thunderbird she smiled. She took a sip of her drink and swallowed hard feeling the heat of the drink and deciding she should have let it cool a bit more. "I'm alright, just ready to go home." She was over being at this school and she was ready to see the states again. "How about you, you doing alright?" He hadn't made it to the final challenge though she was glad he was safe and was proud of how well he did. She was proud of all of them.

He hadn't made it to the final challenge though she was glad he was safe and was proud of how well he did. She was proud of all of them. Taking another long sip of his coffee (the caffeine was well-needed,) Jesús watched the girl with mild interest. The corners of his lips twitched upwards at her response, and soon enough he found himself chuckling because she was right. "Fortunately for me," he placed his cup down gently, "Valerie doesn't own me, and I can talk to whoever I want." They were just having a very friendly conversation. That's all. "Don't worry about her, she just has an aversion to fun sometimes," he remarked, wondering briefly if it was something else that was going on with Valerie.
"You and me both," at that, he frowned, just slightly. Their trip to Hogwarts wasn't at all what he'd hoped it would be. Sure, he'd had some fun, but that all stopped once the competition began. "I'm better now, yeah," he said carefully. "The third challenge was... difficult. I still don't know how to feel about it." Not to mention he really wanted to talk (read: yell at) to Hawthorne about why they felt the need to involve no-maj and relatives in the third task. It was ridiculous. "What do you have planned for the summer? The beach?"

"What do you have planned for the summer? The beach?" Her curiosity was there though so she decided to just ask. "There is something going on between you even if it isn't official,
isn't there? I mean I've noticed more than once how close you two have been this term." She didn't like to admit that she kept tabs on him,
but he was cute and she had possibly crushed on him a bit at the beginning of the term. "I honestly don't know what I did to her. All I've done this term is support her." She didn't want to talk ill about anyone, but she hated when people didn't like her and it bothered her all term that Valarie seemed to hate her.
She noticed the frown and watched him curiously and then he brought up the challenge and she reached over and placed her hand on his arm.
"I know that was hard for everyone. How they felt bringing loved ones in was okay." She shook her head not believing they did that. "You got through it though and you did amazing. Everyone did, I'm glad all the people they brought in are okay too." She at least didn't hear that anyone was not okay.
He then asked about summer and truthfully she wasn't even sure at this point. "Well that is the busy season for my parents. We own a ranch that does mountain horseback riding tours. So I'll be helping with that and hopefully competing with my Junior Team squad like I have in the past. I tried out for the national team and just got the letter that I didn't make it." She hadn't told many she even tried out, because making it meant she wouldn't be going back to Ilvermorny. [b] "What are your plans? Something exciting and relaxing she hoped after this term.

She hadn't told many she even tried out, because making it meant she wouldn't be going back to Ilvermorny. [b] "What are your plans? Something exciting and relaxing she hoped after this term. Well that took him by surprise. Momentarily stunned, Jesús drank more of his coffee in order to recover from her previous statement. "We're friends," he assured her, though there was some truth to her words. "I mean, I do like her," he didn't see any problem speaking frankly on this matter, "but she is very complicated." Sometimes even a little more than that. "You didn't do anything," he said calmly, feeling bad that she caught the brunt of Valerie's anger at times. "She doesn't like most people, if that helps," though he wasn't entirely sure if it did, "though don't worry, I won't let her push you around."
The Thunderbird didn't confide much about his feelings - to anyone, really - but Madelyn had a certain kindness to her, he couldn't help but be a little open. "Thanks, that really means a lot." And he meant that, truly. "I hope they modified my grandma's memory a bit, I don't need her being skittish around magic even more than she already is." He really could not believe that this sort of thing was allowed. The sixth year was shocked at her summer plans. "I would've never pegged you for the outdoorsy type," he replied, growing a little more impressed with her. "Oh, I'm sorry about that." He didn't take rejection well, so he could only imagine how Madelyn felt (especially given how enthusiastic she was about cheering.) "But, that means you won't be out of school then, right? Will you try out again?"
Jesús finished the rest of his coffee and considered ordering another one later. He still needed another boost of energy to get through the rest of the day. "It depends on whether or not I decide to come back to Ilvermorny," he leaned back in his chair, mind buzzing over that bit of truth. "If I don't, then I'll probably look for a non-profit to work at, do some volunteering, probably stage a few protests," he said casually, grinning mischievously at the thought.

Oh...
She didn't mean to say that out loud and her blushing red cheeks told him as much. She couldn't help but giggle and sip her coffee trying to compose herself. "Sorry, I mean it isn't that obvious, I just... well I just have noticed maybe more than others would." NOT because she might notice and watch him whenever he had come into a room for awhile.
Cough..
Anyway, "Have you told her you like her? I mean it can't be that complicated, she either likes you or she doesn't. Well unless she is someone that likes to date many people at once and you aren't like that or you are like that and she isn't." Shut up Madelyn!! What the hell was her issue with word vomit and why was it starting now. "Well I would love to say it helps, but.... " but she couldn't stand when people hated her and it was her own issue she had to get over, but it was a personality trait she didn't like about herself. Another blush happened as he said he wouldn't let her push her around, "Thank you, I mean for that and for well I know it's because of you I haven't been hexed by her this term." Again she noticed things.
She reached out and placed a hand on his arm, "I would think the ministry would. There is no way they would have no-maj involved and not alter their memories. They would have to by law. At least I would hope it was a law here like home not to do magic in front of no-maj and that a no-maj memory would have to be altered. Either way she's your grandmother so she will love you no matter what." Family was something she felt strongly about and she felt horrible that his grandmother was involved. Never pegged her for outdoors type. She laughed a little, "I've been raised to be outdoors. Our ranch is fully functional. My best friend since I was six is a cow." That was always a fun fact to share with people. "We live right in the middle of the mountains in Gatlinburg, have you ever been?"
He really should come over if he hadn't. "I don't know if I will. The national team is a huge deal and there is a window to be good enough,
I'm not sure if I can make that window being at a wizard school most of the time." That was the down fall to magic, her sport wasn't accepted for the most part with wizards and she didn't have a team here to practice with. "Jesus you have to come back. You have to finish your last term.
That would be crazy not to. We would all miss you and it's your last term.
One more and you are a graduate. That has to mean something."
School was important and she had always been raised to take pride in your education. "Oh? What kind of protest?"
