Default The Treehouse

Since it's first discovery in the 2050s, the treehouse has maintained its presence throughout the years with upkeep and improvements thanks to the many Groundskeepers. A massive tree houses a wooden fort that sits high up in its branches. A rope ladder automatically descends down upon approach. Once inside you are greeted with a spacious place to lounge, much larger than the exterior leads on.

Whether you choose to bird watch, study or simply relax with friends, this place makes it easier with the mini fridge that refills with cool beverages, thanks to Mr. McLeod. If you happen to slip, don't worry, you are greeted with a bouncing charm on the ground keeping you safe and free to climb back up again.

Not thag Professor Newton was a stranger as such but she had never really talked to the woman outside of class. But then again maybe it might better to talk to someone outside of her circle.

"That's really nice of you Professor." It was sad that a woman she barely knew was offering her more attention than either of her parents. " I wish my mother was more like you, willing to take time out for her own kid, but noooooo she's too busy with her "career" Trixie used aif quotes to emphasise the word career. "As if selling perfume is a career." She let out a snort before continuing. "Apparently she'd sacrificed enough of her time looking after me, so she shipped me off to dad's so that she could live her life." Did that invitation to vent mean now?

"It's very nice to meet you too, Olivia. I sure am, I've battled it out all six years, so I'm hoping I can successfully make it through my last year." He raised his eyebrows when she said she was apologizing but shook his head and laughed at the latter. "I've actually never been asked that. I kept to myself for quite a while, so I don't know too many people...erm, but, I think my favorite part is...the grounds." Maybe he should have said something better like the classes or the professors, but there was no point in lying. Professors were nice and classes were classes, but the grounds were his favorite. "I spend a lot of time out here, I go for runs almost every day, and no matter the season, it's always beautiful out here." If there was one thing he was going to miss after graduation, it would be that.

Ollie moved over to sit on the couch again and patted the seat next to him in the friendliest way possible. He just didn't want to be standing forever and seeing as she had hurt herself, he figured she wouldn't want to be either.

Being able to have good balance was something that Olivia would have loved to have. Maybe she could have actually played some sports growing up and been good at them. Alas, that was not her true calling. She much preferred music and languages. She quickly added, “Truth be told, I’d prefer to rarely test gravity.” But someone had to do it, right?

They went around looking for magical creatures? Sweet! And they were of age now. It was at that precise moment when it all clicked in Olivia’s mind. Ohhhh… He was much older than her. Well three years or so. Though age didn’t matter, they could totally be friends either way! “That sounds awesome! I’ve never been out looking for magical creatures near Beauxbatons. We weren’t ever really allowed too,” she frowned at the last sentence momentarily.

Oliver smiled at Olivia and considered what might help her lose her "testing gravity" job. "Y'know, I've actually heard that walking and running on different kinds of surfaces helps with your balances. Like, running on a track and running in a field and running on the road and whatnot. I guess it helps teach your body how to stay up?" He didn't know how much of it was true, but Oliver did a lot of running all over the place and he only ever tripped on the stairs, which was pretty good in his opinion.

"Aside from care of magical creatures, we aren't really allowed to wander where a lot of magical creatures probably hide here. The forest is called forbidden for a reason, I guess." He didn't actually know what lurked behind trees in the forest, but he wasn't supposed to go into it, so he didn't. He'd heard some detention horror stories, and he knew it wasn't for him. Ollie was perfectly happy with his dungeon and his ice cream most days.

He couldn't help but smile at her shock to him being at Hogwarts since his first year. Was that not normal anymore? He knew a lot of students transferred in and out, but surely there were other students who had been there since the beginning. "Yup. I was 11 when we started and I'm going to be 18 on Halloween." And saying those last three words made Ollie realize just how soon his and Tim's birthdays was. They were going to be 18. How in the world did they get that old so fast??????? Now was not the time to wonder about that though. He cleared his head and smiled again at Olivia. She was sweet, and he had been weird enough for one day. "Thanks, Olivia! You seem like a lot of fun too. Hopefully we can hang out again after today." Not that their hanging out time was over today though.

"Oh yeah, it's beautiful in the winter. Though it's really beautiful during all seasons. I wonder if magic keeps this place looking so great or if it's just...nature."

Man, every time Zoryn discovered something new, it was always better than the last new thing she had discovered. Hogwarts is truly a gift that keeps on giving. If only they had let her in YEARS ago. Eleven year old Zoryn loved every second of it, but five year old Zoryn would've thrived too.

Honestly, this place was a Zoryn's Dream Come True.

Especially the treehouse.

She must have looked a little odd, running around the thing shrieking happily at the top of her lungs. But in her defense, there was just SO MUCH that she didn't really know where to get started. No. She knew EXACTLY where she'd get started. Eyeing the large wooden HOUSE OF FUN treehouse, she began giggling as the rope ladder swung down and allowed her to climb up the top.

Now Presenting: Queen Zoryn - ruler of Treehouse, Hogwarts. Coming soon to a magic boarding school near you.
Charlie could add a treehouse to the list of things at Hogwarts she'd never seen before, and she made a mental note to do so when she returned to her dorm.

If she had seen one before, it certainly wasn't anything like this one. Usually when you heard the word treehouse, you weren't expecting... well, something that looked like an actual house. And there she was, standing in front of a house in a tree that looked roomy enough for someone to live in.

Wow.

The best part was that tree houses don't bite like creatures might. Maybe wizarding tree houses did, but she knew the muggle ones didn't (even though she had never seen one). At least she could approach the house with less fear, if not none at all.

Charlie approached the trunk of the tree to try to figure out how to get up (hopefully she wouldn't have to climb the actual tree), and she jumped back a bit when she was almost plowed over by shrieking, high-speed projectile.

Well. It wasn't the somewhat anticipated biting, at least.

She made sure to considerably keep her distance from the tree until the projectile made her way up a surprise rope ladder. Once the projectile was out of sight, Charlie counted to 10 to make sure the cost was clear.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

With a shrug, she approached the ladder, beginning to climb it rung by rung until her head was sticking up into the house.

Wow- it was even bigger on the inside!

Before climbing all the way into the house, she made sure there weren't any other flying projectiles. She did, however, see the one from earlier. Charlie figured it would be a good idea to learn her name instead of referring to her as a projectile.

"You know...," Charlie started as she approached the projectile girl. "You'd make a pretty convincing...rocket- in, like, a play, or something."

"I'm Charlie. And you are?"

It seemed that she was being taken up on the offer immediately. Good, because there was clearly something wrong if aggressions were being taken out on a poor tree. "I'm sorry that things are so hard for you with your mom right now. I know what it's like to feel cast aside for something else." Not the exact same situation, but close enough. "Have you tried telling her how she is making you feel?"

Zoryn bounced around the treehouse giggling in pure glee. This was AWESOME! If the Common Room wasn’t so cozy, she’d totally LIVE HERE. The first year wanted to claim it all for herself, it was only too bad that she didn’t bring a quill up here with her… She needed to write her name on it so people knew it was all hers.

Hm.

Or a guard. That's what was needed. A guard. IT WAS GENIUS! Except Zoryn, herself, was too tiny so she couldn’t be the guard.

It was this constant flow of bubbling ideas kept her just distracted enough not to notice that someone else was climbing up the ladder to HER treehouse. Well, distracted enough until her thoughts were interrupted by speech. Oh. Man she had an intruder and the guard system wasn’t even set up yet!!! SHE WASN'T PREPARED FOR THIS YET. Could the intruder, like, come back in two to three business days or something? Dang it.

Should've thought this through better.

”Is the rocket the star?” Of the play, of course. Because that was important. Zoryn didn’t know what made the intruder think that she’d make a good rocket, but if it was the star then of course she’d make a good one!! ”Y'know I'd normally have to kick you out, but since you’re nice… I’ll make an exception this time.” She nodded, quite pleased with her own ability to be so diplomatic.

Mamma would be so proud.

”Zoryn,” she beamed at the intruder Charlie who had just introduced herself. Weren't intruders supposed to be more hostile than that? Maybe she had this whole 'claiming' her castle thing all wrong. Huh. ”Pleasure to meet ya!”

"Yes! I did try!" Trixie quickly stopped herself from bursting into a tirade and took a deep breath. The Professor was on her side and was trying to help her. "Sorry Professor." She gave the woman an apologetic look and used her good foot to scuff the dirt, making circular patterns.

When did life get so crappy? She often sat around trying to think what she had done to cause her parents to turn on her like this? Was this some sort of life lesson that they were trying to teach her? "She was too busy to listen to what I had to say. I don't know, maybe there is something different I should do?" Trixie looked at the Professor with a hopeful expression in her face. Would she have the answers?

Running helped? Olivia paused, considering this option. Running she could do. She was glad that he hadn't suggested flying on a broomstick. That had been cute Healer Reed's perspective. Flying terrified her. Well... Revision. It wasn't so much that flying that terrified her. It was the possibility of hitting the ground. Falling never hurt anyone after all. It was always the impact that hurt the most. "Hmm.. I could give that a try that sounds better than trying to practice balance by flying. Healer Reed suggested that I should learn how to fly," she said, still a little uncomfortable by that idea.

The Forbidden Forest. She had heard of that place. Her brother had warned her not to venture in there unless she had a death wish. This reason only made her want to go there and see what the whole big fuss about was anyway. "Has anyone gone in there recently? What happens if you go in?" she asked, very curious by this.

18 by Halloween? He was old. Ancient. Clearly ancient. But cute for an old guy. She smiled. "Eighteen? Wow," she stated. She couldn't imagine being eighteen. That was four years away and she planned on living all those four years to the full extent. Being eighteen meant that you'd have to be an adult and do adult things and not use kid excuses, which seemed rather unfortunate to Olivia. "Are you excited to be eighteen?" Hearing that he also wanted to spend more time with her in the future brought a giant grin onto her lips. Fantastic. She liked making new friends. "Definitely! "I never even thought about flying but that makes sense too." Oliver actually had pretty good balance on a broomstick, but that was because he used to play quidditch before he started at Hogwarts. While he didn't play much now, he still made time to get on his broomstick every so often. "But since you don't sound too keen on flying, if you ever want company when you run, let me know. I go running every day." At this point, it was hard for Ollie to imagine a time when he didn't run so often. It had already been two years since he and Brian had decided to go running instead of letting all of the food get to their bodies. He never regreted a minute of it.

"I'll be officially legal in all of Europe, which is really kind of cool." Who didn't want to be a legal adult, right??

"Yeeaah...maybe we can meet halfway or something? Library is on the fourth floor and I'll be doing loads of studying this term." And there was a great view at the desks over by the windows which he often got distracted by, so they could hang out there...or anywhere else. Oliver just hated walking up all those stairs. The minute he didn't have to take Astronomy any more (even though he enjoyed Professor Flamsteed teaching it), he was ecstatic. Now he rarely ever walked up that high unless it was to see his twin sister.

He smiled and nodded. She was right, it could be both of those things. "I think my favorite season is autumn. I like the colors of the leaves and the weather. It's never too cold around here in the autumn."

At first, Mason laughed out loud the moment he saw the drink spill over the Gryffindor. It was all pretty funny in his opinion but when he realised that Dora was actually mad at him, he quickly stopped laughing. "I'm sorry!" he said, slowly opening the door of the fridge again in case he needed to duck behind it. Because he could sense the danger now, years at Durmstrang taught him that. "I didn't mean to, you startled me!"

Take out his wand? Mason looked at her with raised eyebrows. Did she really want to fight over THAT? "It's just hair, it will dry again" he said, once again displaying his talent of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Company on her run? Oh yes PLEASE. Oliver was awesome! She grinned happily at his comment. “I’d love that! That’d be awesome. I just hope that I don’t slow you down too much with tripping. I’m sure it’d make for an interesting run.” Never a dull moment at least! Having a running buddy would definitely help her stay on track with her progress and exercise regime. It’d be good for her in a long run, especially when summer finally rolled around. Olivia needed to stay in shape. She took great pride in looking and feeling good.

Detention if you went in? Well…. Detention meant staying inside all day. Despite considering herself someone that bent the rules, she had never ended up in detention before nor did she have any plan for that. At Beauxbatons, she had managed to get away with a few things; however, now it seemed almost impossible to get away with things. Nevertheless, Cornelius found a way to get around everything. How did he manage that? She’d have to ask. “Detention? Yeah… No thanks. I plan on not getting detention that wouldn’t be fun at all.” She could also lose points as well. Merlin. Olivia, too, hated climbing stairs as she had short legs. Being five foot one and a half was hard, y’know?

Autumn. She couldn’t wait to see it. She smiled. “I can’t wait to see all the leaves change colours,” she said with a nod. She wasn’t looking too much forward to the winter. Hopefully it’d be better than Beauxbatons as that school had been FREEZING!

Oliver couldn't have been more excited to have a new friend to run with. After Brian got sick, he'd been running alone, and while it was good for thinking sometimes, other times he managed to overthink and that was never any good."Perfect! Just let me know when you want to do that, and I'll be at your side. And who knows, maybe I can catch you before you hit the ground!" The likelihood of that working out was small, but it never hurt to be hopeful.

Nodding at her next statement, Ollie was in completely agreement with Olivia. Sure, lots of people managed to get away with things, but with his luck, he'd be the first person to get caught while trying to sneak into the forest, or anywhere else for that matter. It was a miracle he hadn't gotten caught the few times he'd sneaked out after curfew, but he was sure those were just flukes. "Good idea. If you can figure out a way to do it without getting caught, I wish you all the best." And it would take a lot of convincing to get him to join her in that adventure.

And there was the most dreaded question of all. DID Ollie know what he wanted to do with his future? Yes and no...he had an idea, but he had loads of ideas, all of which could fail miserably if he made the wrong choice. "It's kind of complicated, but I guess I'm thinking of becoming a Charms professor." Did he have a good reason for looking into that? Other than being good at Charms, not really. He could also be a personal trainer, but he just felt like he'd have no money if he did that. And then there was that modeling idea Cordy had...but that seemed really unlikely since he was nowhere as good looking at 90% of the male models he had ever seen in ads.

Ollie couldn't help but laugh at that. "I appreciate you so much for that. I'm fit enough, but I've never been able to get used to those terrible stairs." Especially after he had fallen down them that one time. While the talking portraits had been very nice to him about it (mostly), he definitely did not want to experience that again.

"The colors should be changing soon enough, really. I think I have a camera you can use to take pictures of it too, if you want." He would just have to find that camera...

Of course! Maybe tomorrow morning?” She’d have to start this running thing soon and stick to a plan. It was important. She couldn’t just make up fitness. That didn’t seem easy to improvise. Fitness came with hard work. Yes, that’s what she thought. Catch her before she fell? That would be impressive. She was certain that he probably wouldn’t be able to do that but who knew? Was he secretly Superman? Clark Kent was hiding here at Hogwarts? Who know. She smiled at his offer. “Well then thank you, Superman,” she teased. He was a nice superman.

Figure out the way to do it without getting caught? Don’t worry, Oliver. This girl had managed to slip out of rooms before without anyone noticing. “I’m a professional, remember?” She’d have to find a way. “You’ll be the first to know if I do manage it.” And with that, she gave him a wicked wink. Perhaps he would even join her on the wild adventure? Hmm.. That’d take work.

Olivia understood what Oliver meant about trying to figure out what he wanted to do. “I get that. Healer Reed asked me what career path I wanted to go on my first day here. I love helping people so he suggested I look into becoming a Healer ,” she chuckled. She had been completely taken back by that question. She was only a fourth year and barely knew what direction to take. Though she loved helping people. Being a Healer sounded interesting for sure. A charms professor would be awesome! He was certainly charming, if that helped at all. Hehe. Charming. See what she did there? “Well a Charms professor would be awesome.” She bit her tongue to avoid adding what she had thought. In fact, her brother had set off to become an Ancient Runes professor himself.

Yeah, you’re lucky that your common room is near the dunegons. Less stairs!” But perhaps a little gloomy as they were in the dungeons? Maybe only slightly gloomy. Having a common room in the dungeons did seem pretty cool. As she glanced out the window, she listened to him talk about the leaves changing colors soon. And then Oliver offered her to use his camera to take photos. That was so kind. “That’s really nice of you but I do have my camera with me. Perhaps we can take photos together?

Laughing? HE WAS LAUGHING? For the love of Merlin, why was he laughing at her right now? At this moment. Did he know nothing about WOMEN?! And he was sorry?! And hiding behind the door of the fridge. With a flick of her wand and a muttering of the proper incantation, she sent the door of said fridge disassembling itself from the rest of the contraption. She was ANGRY and she was not going to let him hide.

"Who throws drinks on people when they are startled? That's a poor excuse." She was certain he had done it on PURPOSE now. What with his remark about her hair and it would dry. This angered the blonde more than she already was. "Take out your wand." He was going to dry her hair FOR her. And he was going to put the door back on the fridge... or else she was going to punch him in the nose.

His choice.

It was weird writing a letter to his sister. He couldn't remember a single day they'd been apart for more than a couple of hours before he'd come to Hogwarts. And now he was supposed to write her a LETTER? What was he even supposed to say? Cameron didn't like writing letters. They were so...impersonal. He didn't understand the appeal. He preferred talking to people. Or writing down his own thoughts. But not writing TO other people. It always seemed so forced.

Was Holly even the right way to start this?

Frowning he leaned back against the wall of the treehouse and eyed the parchment in front of him. This was weird. Maybe he could just talk to her tonight instead. Maybe they could move their mirror call to today. Because honestly, this letter writing wasn't happening. There was literally nothing he could think of to write. Nothing.

He should probably use his time for something more productive.

Olivia understood what Oliver meant about trying to figure out what he wanted to do. “I get that. Healer Reed asked me what career path I wanted to go on my first day here. I love helping people so he suggested I look into becoming a Healer ,” she chuckled. She had been completely taken back by that question. She was only a fourth year and barely knew what direction to take. Though she loved helping people. Being a Healer sounded interesting for sure. A charms professor would be awesome! He was certainly charming, if that helped at all. Hehe. Charming. See what she did there? “Well a Charms professor would be awesome.” She bit her tongue to avoid adding what she had thought. In fact, her brother had set off to become an Ancient Runes professor himself.

Yeah, you’re lucky that your common room is near the dunegons. Less stairs!” But perhaps a little gloomy as they were in the dungeons? Maybe only slightly gloomy. Having a common room in the dungeons did seem pretty cool. As she glanced out the window, she listened to him talk about the leaves changing colors soon. And then Oliver offered her to use his camera to take photos. That was so kind. “That’s really nice of you but I do have my camera with me. Perhaps we can take photos together?


Olivia was so into this new friendship, and it really made Oliver feel great. He hardly even knew this girl and she was ready to start going on runs with him tomorrow. She was so awesome. "That's perfect actually! That's when I was planning on starting my runs again anyway. We can meet in the entrance hall?" That was an easy walk up from the dungeons for him, but a long way down for her. Again, he was grateful he was sorted into Slytherin. AND THEN SHE CALLED HIM SUPERMAN. Ollie raised his eyebrows in amusement and chuckled, he really couldn't help it. "You know, when I was younger, I used to call myself Superboy." He hadn't even thought about that time of his life in a long time...funny that Olivia just happened to call him Superman. "Oh, and you're welcome, of course." If he was Superman, he'd make sure to be a good one.

Oh so she was a professional at sneaking out too? Good to know. "I guess I forgot, my bad." He smiled at her and lean back into the couch to get extra comfy. And then she winked it and it was really cute. Maybe all people whose names were a variation of Olive were cute?? "Alright, I'll be waiting around to hear all about it."

Oliver was a little shocked to hear that Healer Reed was already trying to get Olivia to figure out what she wanted to do when she was only fourteen years old.... It wasn't until the end of last term that Ollie really figured out what he might want to do, even now nothing was definite! "Wow. That's a bit early...or maybe I started too late in figuring things out?" Which sounded more likely to him, especially since his own sister had more or less known what she wanted to do years ago. "How do you feel about becoming a healer?" If it was something she was interested in, great! But he didn't want her to feel like Reed was forcing anything on her. Not that Reed was that kind of person, of course, he barely even knew the healer at all. "I've never taught anything, but I love Charms, and I'm sure seeing students learn it and do that magic for the first time is really great." The more he talked about it, the more he realized it really did sound like a wonderful job for him.

"Definitely! But you have a better view up in the towers." Not that a view of the lake wasn't nice, but it got old very fast. However, Ollie would choose blue scenery over stairs any day. Smiling again, Oliver shrugged at her response about the camera. "No problem, just wanted to help. But yeah, we can definitely do that. My best friend and I used to do that when she was still in school." That felt ages ago already...how had a year gone by so fast? And in another year he'd be reunited with his bestie, just as it should be.

"Who is Holly?"

Junia could be quite sneaky when she wanted to be and the expression on the younger boy's face had made the brunette curious. What was he up to that made him look like that? She was obviously going to find out and so she'd sat down beside him silently and peeked at his parchment. He was super young, so there was no way it was a girlfriend or anything. That left a friend, sibling, or his mum, though calling her mum by her first name would've meant punishment.

P.S., she recognized the boy as the one she'd met over the summer. The Quidditch enthusiast, yes? He was okay in her book.

Zoryn didn’t know what made the intruder think that she’d make a good rocket, but if it was the star then of course she’d make a good one!! ”Y'know I'd normally have to kick you out, but since you’re nice… I’ll make an exception this time.” She nodded, quite pleased with her own ability to be so diplomatic.

Mamma would be so proud.

”Zoryn,” she beamed at the intruder Charlie who had just introduced herself. Weren't intruders supposed to be more hostile than that? Maybe she had this whole 'claiming' her castle thing all wrong. Huh. ”Pleasure to meet ya!”


"Well, the rocket would definitely be a featured character, at least. It might not be the star in every play, but there's probably at least one with the rocket as the star." Charlie actually felt like the rocket would typically be the villain, but villains are still featured characters. If the play was set in a universe populated only by anthropomorphic rockets, though, then it could go a lot of ways: Hero, villain, background character, et cetera.

"Oh, boy. Well, that's nice to hear," Charlie avowed, breathing a sigh of relief. It had taken a lot of time for her to walk out to the treehouse, and it would have been a shame to have to walk all the way back. Would the girl make an exception again, though? She'd just have to be extra nice to the rocket girl, then.

So, Zoryn. Charlie finally had a substitute name for rocket or projectile. "Oh, that's a cool name,” Charlie replied, having a rather enthusiastic tone of voice. ”It's a pleasure to meet you too." Remembering that she had to be extra nice to Zoryn so she could come back, Charlie extended her hand for her to shake. Was it a little formal? Yes. But she'd be thanking herself later when she could come back to the treehouse. All in all, it didn't make much sense for one girl to own the house, but maybe that's just how things were at Hogwarts.

”You know, if you don't want to be a rocket in a play, other career options you could consider could be a runner, or maybe a superhero with a speed power. You were going very fast outside the treehouse.” Extra special nice, right?

The outburst was not all that surprising given the fact that Trixie had been kicking a tree. At any rate Rosalyn was not bothered because she knew that it was not personal. "It's fine. Don't worry about it." She would not be getting into trouble for what she had done or anything. Good thing too, because deducting points was something that she always HATED doing and hopefully there would never come a day where she had to give out detention. At any rate there were other things to deal with right now, like the girl's problem.

Not very nice that her mother hadn't even listened. That made Rosalyn rather sad. If she ever had a child she wouldn't ignore them. "Maybe next time you are at home and she has a bit of spare time you could do something that you and her used to do when you were younger. Something that was just for you two. Maybe that will remind her of your special bond." They HAD special things, right? Didn't most people have that with their parents?
