In the sixth floor corridor leading to the East Tower, a quick flash of bright light could have been seen if anyone was around to witness it. Then the flicker happened again ... and again ... until it appears that a section of the wall is ripping like fabric.
Soon a hole, circular in shape, begins to expand until it is about the size of a wide door. Tendrils and membrane begin seeping through, latching itself onto the wall. An eerie glow shines through this hole, steadily pulsating like a beating heart. Whether or not you want to get a closer look at this strange opening, you cannot help but be drawn toward it and the low growling sounds that seem to be coming from inside. What in Merlin's beard is this thing? Where did it come from? Should you resist and run in the opposite direction or let it consume you?
For the brave at heart or overly curious personalities, please do tread forward with caution...

The headmistress was out, this was a good thing. She watched as Storm and Miffy had their moment. She still disliked them no matter if they were going to save the day or not. She tried to focus on everything, but between finally catching her breath, feeling the pain coming from her face she was finding it hard to focus on all the details. Her eyes moved back to Chris as he placed a towel on the cut. "Thank you" It was sweet how much he was helping her out. "I'll be fine" She didn't want anyone to worry about her when other's needed it more.
If she would have heard Liv over the commotion she probably would have offered to leave with her. She had enough of all of this chaos, but there was still danger and the seventh year glanced at the portal. She heard Elle even if it was under her breath and just left it. She knew her cut needed tending too, but with everything going on it seemed to be the least of her worries. That least of the worries came went when the portal started to change. Her wand was up and pointed at it.
"Uh Guys, the monster..." HELLO! Professors! She just kept her wand at raised, but soon found it not necessary when Storm and Miffy went through and the portal was gone.
"IT'S GONE???!!!!" She might cry, the emotions all just hit her. She was happy it was gone, exhausted from all that went on, and yes she was an emotional person that cried a lot. So tears did start and she clapped, because this was a celebration and the confetti from peeves was welcomed for once in the four years she was at school here.
Chris looked at Nat smiled, "I know you'll be fine. You're resilient." But no matter what she said he wasn't going to leave her side. He knew her well enough to know that she would get her healing last if she could. He looked up as he was handed a vial and some antibiotics and nodded at Elle. "Thank you." Super Chris to the rescue. He was going to heal his friend up but maybe not here...it was starting to get a little loud and he realized he was starting to get a headache.
He looked up and watched the ghosts when he heard Nat and his eyes quickly went toward the portal. What? He clutched at his wand but before he could even think of what spell he would use the portal was gone along with the two ghosts. Huh. "Is... is over...?" Merlin he hoped it was. He couldn't take any more. Then there was confetti.
He handled the stuff Elle had given him to Nat and went to sit down as his adrenaline seemed to be disappearing. How had he managed to do all that and keep it together pretty well? Hmmm. Maybe he could be an Auror that wasn't something he'd thought of doing before. He watched everyone and rubbed his head. Could he go now because really he needed someplace quiet.

He still hadn't yet processed everything which he was sure would come later and it hadn't been the most pleasant of experiences but they did what they needed to do and made it out alive.
He brushed away a lock of her hair as he cupped the side of her face with his hand, pulling away just a bit to look at her. "What about you though? Are you okay?" This was nothing that he wanted to have to truly share with her in experience. It was an awful place with a terrifying monster that no one should have to confront with a fight just to stay alive. But she had and he thought she was so brave. Really, they all were, but he was just so relieved that they were safe, that they had helped to rescue those first years, and that they were back and alive. Especially her, even if the thought was remotely selfish, but she was the reason he had gone back in that place from his nightmares.
He leaned in suddenly to kiss her, not caring if there were other people further down in the corridor, even professors. And the thought of point loss really didn't cross his mind as the relief of just surviving that ordeal was what was prevalent in his head. Somewhere though, he could hear something vague about the poltergeists and especially from the poltergeists, but he wasn't really comprehending or paying much attention to that just yet. As far as he was concerned, his contribution to helping save those boys was done and he just wanted as far away from the portal and monster as possible.

Kissing Henry was the obvious necessary thing to do after getting out of that place, you know? All the adrenaline! And just real thankfulness that they were both okay and also... kissing was awesome and Henry was super good at it and also he was hers in case anyone got any ideas - that meant you, Monster!
But suddenly there was a potions bottle in her hand and there was an adult voice and... Char broke the kiss and blinked at the charms professor. Wait what?
A calming draught?
"I don't want one of these right now." Nope. No. She really didn't. And they couldn't force her to take it. She didn't want to be in a situation where she wasn't able to properly process things. And she didn't need to calm down right now either. She'd kept her head pretty well actually! And Henry kept her calm. And knowing that they'd got out, and helped those first years, and it was almost over.
She looked up at Henry as the professor moved on, giving him a brave but tired smile. She couldn't THINK about what else was going on in her own head right now, she needed peace and quiet and safety for that, and even if she felt a lot of those things standing in the ring of Henry's arms, it wouldn't be properly true quite yet, not until the portal closed and they knew for sure it wouldn't open again.
But now that the kiss moment had been broken, Char's awareness of what was going on around them returned, right when the headmistress came through the portal safe. And The poltergeists were here!

Blowing a kiss to her Peevsie Poo, she followed Stormy through the portal.

OKAY, SAD TIME OVER!
Storm was gone forever, and that only meant one thing. PEEVES WAS BACK ON TOP!!!
"I'M BACK, BABY!!!" He dive-bombed the crowd and covered everyone with confetti. "Here's a little present for ya, courtesy of your NUMBER ONE PRANKSTER!"
Miffy was going TOO? But what happened to being MARRIED?? Whaaaa? As one of Miffy's bridesmaids, Char was particularly shocked that the poltergirl would just.... leave like that!
And that Peeves was okay with it? even mean?
Had they been divorced? Or was that basically an annulment? What did it all
However, Char WAS all for the confetti once the portal closed and trapped the monster within it. Yeah! They DESERVED to celebrate!
Char looked around, now seeing all the familiar faces and taking into account who was there and how bad or good everyone looked, health wise. Oh gosh, Olly had been scratched too! And Char knew that Kitty had. Goodness, she hoped they healed okay. And there was Livvy. Char shot her younger friend a little, thannkful smile, pleased to see her safe and well and Char definitely agreed with the sentiment of getting out of there. Only she didn't want to go back to her dorm because common room was not Henry's and she wasn't done with hugging her boyfriend or any bit willing to part with that safe feeling.
Also? Could everyone just... NOT tell her parents that she'd totally gone into that portal? That would be great.
"How do we stop the portal from ever coming back?" She asked the assembled group. Like.... sure, they closed it, but it hadn't been the first time it had opened, right? So how did they make sure it was permanent?

Henry had been rather caught up in the moment of kissing Charlotte to the extent of tuning out other things going on and the people around them momentarily. But all the adrenaline and relief of being safe and knowing they helped to fight the monster to get the first years to safety... well, his girlfriend had his complete focus. Until she pulled away at the same time he heard a voice. Oh.. hi, Professor.
He glanced up first at Professor Marchand and then at the vial that had been thrust into his hand. A calming draught? Yeah, no, he didn't really want one either, but he tucked it into his pocket. Maybe he would have use for it later, but Henry didn't really want that fuzzy at the edges feeling right now. He needed it last time, but this time was different. Yes, it had still been nightmarish, but he hadn't been taken this time. This time he knew what to expect. This time he went in voluntarily to help, even if it was more because he couldn't watch Charlotte be in danger without doing something about it. But he felt like he took something back for himself in a way. And almost victorious in a strange way. Even if he never wanted to repeat the experience again, hadn't wanted to in the first place, and knew that the nightmares wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon.
He kept an arm around Char though, keeping her close, and he returned her smile with a small one of his own. "You were amazing in there. So brave," he told her quietly. And really smart too with her choice of spells and knowledge of runes. Actually, he thought everyone in there was brave, even if they probably didn't know what they were getting themselves into. And that they probably couldn't have done it without them all. Which.. made him think of something else that he didn't want to think about or dwell on right now, so Henry pushed that nagging thought away as Nat's shout alerted him.
The monster? His grip tightened on his wand as his eyes snapped towards the portal, his arm still protectively around Char. But... why were the poltergeists going in there?? He completely missed all talk and reasoning of that, so he was rather confused at that sight. And he blinked when the portal disappeared in a flash of light. "It's... it's gone? Is it really gone?" Whatever the poltergeists did, it seemed to work. And he wasn't sure he could be happier right then. But yeah.. how did they make sure it wasn't coming back because he wasn't dealing with that risk on his life again.
As he tried to process this and actually feel glad about the portal, awful dimension, and terrible monster being gone, Henry took a moment to breathe again and look around at the assembled group. It seemed larger than when they left. He was glad to see Healer Reed though. Henry knew that he'd take good care of Olly and Kitty, and make sure their wounds were healed. He wondered fleetingly if they'd scar since that often seemed to happen with dark creatures or objects. Or at least he thought. And Nat was injured too? Henry frowned a bit as he hadn't realized it at the time, but at least Chris was there to help. Henry was lucky he hadn't been injured though. Char too, and others that were inside that dimension. They'd probably all have some traumatic issues though, especially those poor first years. He knew what that was like and he didn't wish that on anyone. He glanced back at Char again. Was she really okay? He didn't want her to be traumatized by this at all, but of course he'd be there for her. He understood.
Looking back at the others, his eyes fell on Levi, and he wondered if he thought him completely mad to voluntarily go back there, especially after their discussion the other day. Maybe he was, but he thought it was something he had to do. And if he hadn't been so preoccupied with his mind on other things, he might have noticed the Gryffindor holding Daisy's hand. And had a comment for later. He wasn't exactly sure why either of them were there, but it felt like support and he appreciated them for it. The same went for Liv's presence. And he could relate to her thought completely. He just.. Just wanted to go home. He was ready to put an end to this school year. But he wasn't in any hurry to leave Charlotte yet and he left his arm around her, staying close to her.

There was a lot of chatter going on and Hirsch was finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate on specific topics at hand. He was relieved, though, when River burst into the scene and started handing out healing potions to the potions. Good. The sooner they got tended to, the better.
His gaze was diverted, however, when Regina herself came to this side of Hogwarts. Another sense of relief washed over him in knowing that everyone had made it out of the portal and into safety. There was still something unnerving about the situation, though. Because even though everyone was safe and the students were being tended to and it looked as if everything was going to go back to normal, it didn't feel like it.
And then Regina was talking about Storm going through the portal.
In all honesty, Hirsch didn't care about the poltergeists, especially considering the ordeal they'd put the students through during the course of this year especially. And he still hadn't forgiven them for the situation the previous year with one Jacen Reed. Nope. So he just stood there, getting his breathing, and heart rate, back to normal and watching the scene unfold. It didn't look as though Peeves was at all that disturbed by the fact that Miffy was going in with Storm which caused him to raise his eyebrows. Really? This didn't bother him in the slightest?
And, on an even worse note, Peevsie Poo?!
This was worse than couple duels.
And speaking of couples, Mr Whittebrook was clearly displaying the mix of teenage hormones and adrenaline that were running within him. Uh. Sure, the boy might be caught up in the moment but did they need to see this? Couldn't they take this somewhere private? He didn't need to know what the students did or see....... this. It wasn't exactly appropriate to wolf-whistle so, he did the only thing he could do and pretend that he'd seen nothing in the first place. Hirsch was blissfully oblivious to any kissing that was going on. Nothing to see.
This wasn't exactly hard to do, not when there was a bright green light coming from the portal itself. He covered his eyes instinctively to shield them from the light and only really looked back when the brightness had died down and.....
....... Hirsch blinked. The Portal was gone? Completely? He blinked a few more times before walking around that area slowly, surveying it. No. Gone. In fact, it looked like it did at the start of this year where there had been no rip in dimensions in the first place. Again, it didn't feel right or normal but if it was gone, well.......
Charlotte's question about the portal situation had been a good one and, for once, Hirsch didn't have an answer. He preferred subject areas with huge action and drama, not annoying poltergeists. So, he shot the Gryffindor an apologetic look before looking over towards the rest of the group and especially at those that, rumour had it, had been doing some kind of research into all of this.
Oh, Mr Ashburry-Hawthorne!
Turning away from the place where the portal had been, the Defence Professor first looked towards the young Hufflepuff and then at his pocket. Reaching inside, he took out the box that had been given to him before they'd all jumped into the portal and turned it over in his hands. It was probably lucky that he hadn't been directly hit with spells or had fallen over during the trip. He hadn't paid much attention to it thanks to the chaos that had happened in the other Hogwarts but at least it didn't look too damaged, did it?
He moved away from the spot where the portal had been and over towards Mr Ashburry-Hawthorne. "I think I have something that belongs to you." At this, he held out the box the boy had given to him. It wasn't as if the man had any use for it.

There was a lot going on around here, but right now, feeling Noelle's arm wrap around here - only one because apparently Olly had the same idea - Skylar just felt safe. And it seemed as if everyone had things under control, but she wasn't immune to the sounds around her.
She heard Storm about saving the day and had to feel amused because he had no idea he was being banished. Why couldn't Hogwarts do this with ALL the poltergeists, including Peeves, again? Of course Peeves was a staple at Hogwarts and despite some of his awful shenanigans, the castle walls would feel rather empty without him here. Also, did Miffy just go too!? That surprised the third year a little, but at least they were back to just one poltergeist.
One poltergeist who didn't seem to care that he was the only one anymore? Did that mean their marriage had been a farce and all of Miffy's idea and Peeves didn't care about it at all?
But she did look over at the portal after the two poltergeists went through and smiled a little at seeing it gone with the blink of a bright green light. That was it? She'd heard of the horrors within from her roommate, so think it was gone so quickly and easily, was just ...
.... o.O
Henry? Charlotte? Her blue-gray eyes fell automatically on the fifth years and despite knowing how rude it was to stare, she couldn't help it. She should have known he wouldn't care for her, as much more than Noah's Little Sister. As a little sister to himself. And despite it all, in a way, he was more of a big brother to her, even if he was her first crush, she didn't feel very broken by the kiss. She just ... what did Liv say again?
"I want to leave." Because it summed everything up perfectly and she did want to go. Home. Summer break. Play quidditch. And to think they still had another few weeks left before that would happen.

There was so much happening around Abey; he could hear all manner of voices that he recognised, and a few that he didn't, and were he paying close enough attention he may have realised that even the poltergeists were there. But the only thing he was focusing on was holding on tightly to Rula, and listening out for the monster, though part of him was convinced he could hear that same low growling sound but actually he couldn't possibly because nobody was screaming and throwing spells around to fight it off. Not as far as he could tell, anyway. Even so, Abey was still reluctant to open his eyes. He held onto Rula and listened to her words and her assurances that everything was going to be okay and tried so very very very hard to believe them.
From somewhere close by, over the general racket, Abey heard someone else speaking directly to him. It was a moment before it really registered that he knew the voice, and that the voice actually belonged to Kane actually. Abey didn't move or turn around or look or let go of Rula, but he did focus on Kane's voice.
Safe now. Back at Hogwarts. Yes. Nothing bad really lasted at Hogwarts, Abey knew that. Everything always got fixed in the end. Even so, Abey couldn't help but picture those pointed, deadly teeth, inching closer to his face. It was like he could still smell the monster. And actually, even though the bad thing was over, it still... didn't feel very much at all like it was fixed actually.
He huddled closer to Rula - if that was possible - and tried repeating both hers and Kane's words out loud to himself. It didn't really work; he just ended up speaking a bunch of nonsense along with his crying, so Abey tried to repeat the words in his head instead actually. But, as much as he wanted to look and see the real Hogwarts and reassure himself of where he was... he just... couldn't. He couldn't look, he couldn't bring himself to check, just in case it was all a lie and he really wasn't actually safe. He didn't feel safe. Was that bad? Was that wrong? It felt wrong.
Suddenly, Rula was talking again - to Abey - and saying something about that he had to drink something and that Healer Reed had said so. Abey trusted Healer Man Reed actually, and he knew that anything he gave him was likely to make him feel better, and of course he trusted Rula too. But to take whatever potion it was, he'd have to look at it, which meant opening his eyes, which he absolutely did not want to do - not ever again if he could help it actually. So, though he felt like actually he really did want to take the potion, he ended up shaking his head and sobbing just a little bit harder.
One big problem, though, was that Abey knew that, sooner or later, they would try and separate him from Rula. But actually he never wanted to be separated from her again, or any of his family actually. And actually he also never wanted to be on his own or away from a proper grown up with or wizard ever again, just by the way.
It was so loud, and still so much was happening, and it was all just so confusing. Words were flying around about poltergeists and portals and monsters but in all the chaos everything felt all confused and mixed up to Abey's ears, like how when he looked at writing and it went all wobbly, but this time it all sounded wobbly. The only thing that made ANY sense to Abey was the sudden LOUD yelling of his name, and from a voice he would recognise anywhere.
Derf. Derf was nearby and Abey remembered once again that he WOULD see his friend again, like he would see all of his friends, like he would see all of his family (if he ever uncovered his face, of course).
Just the thought of that had Abey dissolving into yet another wave of tears, but whether they were of relief or more to do with the shock of the situation or of the fear that he might still end up monster food, he didn't know and he didn't care. He just sobbed. Loudly. And all over Rula. Actually.

WHOOSH, there the two poltergeists went - RIGHT in to the portal. Peeves promptly celebrated the demise of his wife and child (that was what they were to him, right?) by throwing confetti everywhere, which made Kane...sort of sick actually. So Miffy and Storm were just like...stuck there forever? With the monster? THAT was...extremely morbid in his opinion, and Peeves was celebrating.
THIS was why Kane was not a fan of poltergeists. Everything was utter nonsense about them.
Brushing the confetti off of his hair, he stood up, biting his lip again. Abey was still sobbing, and Kane didn't blame him. He knew that no matter WHAT he said, he couldn't comfort the Gryffindor any more than he already had (which was like...not at all). Poor kid. He probably needed some SERIOUS consoling now. Him and Simon both, he was sure. They ALL probably needed some consoling, really.
The Headmistress was back, and the portal was GONE. Totally GONE. Now that everyone had stopped running for their lives, and the realization started to hit him that it was all over - he was hit HARD with the exhaustion from running around all night. All he wanted to do was sleep for like...a week.
After he went back to the common room and told Saff what a HERO he was, though, and hopefully earned himself a snog. Hehe.
Kane thankfully wasn't injured, and he didn't feel like he needed a Calming Draught or anything. Best save those for the kids that really needed them, like Abey. He just needed a real good sleep. He walked over to his brother and sighed heavily.
"So um...I figure someone should go tell the Puffs that everything is under control now. Um...walk back with me?" he asked quietly. JUST to be on the safe side. He turned to the staircase and motioned for Brent to follow him.
Basically, he had NO choice but to walk his little bro back to the common room. Yup. No choice.

Unfortunately it seemed like Abey didn't want to take the potion now, so Rula looked back up at Healer Reed, still rubbing gentle circles on Abey's back as he continued sobbing. Maybe the Healer had a few suggestions on how to get him to take the Calming Draught? Aside from trying to force him, which didn't sound like a good idea. But he probably had more experience with extremely distraught patients than Rula, for obvious reasons, so she would follow whatever advice or ideas he had. She just wanted Abey to feel better.
And then the poltergeists got her attention again. Storm was actually going through...and Miffy was too? And Peeves seemed okay with that? Storm, she wouldn't miss, since she still wasn't happy with how he'd treated her and Rooney earlier that term, but Miffy... Maybe it was just the hopeless romantic in her or the fact that she'd been a part of their wedding - or both - but she was a little sad that Miffy and Peeves would be separated forever. Presumably. Since with that bright greenish light...
...the portal was finally closed. And the monster was gone with it.
A sigh of relief escaped her then, and internally she finally relaxed a little. She still hadn't put her wand away yet, and everything wasn't perfectly back to normal, and they still definitely needed to know that it was permanent, but...it was gone. The monster couldn't get through any longer now. They were safe.
"The portal has closed, Abey. It's gone." She didn't know if he'd opened his eyes to look while it happened, but considering he was still crying, she thought it best to say it, just in case it helped. "We're all safe."
And then there was another first year Hufflepuff shouting Abey's and Simon's names, and, as she watched him excitedly flapping his arms at the two of them, Rula finally smiled a little.
