The Portal

Leon was walking up towards the Ravenclaw common room when he spotted a flash of light..He blinked a little curious as to what it was. He headed towards where he thought he saw the light, only to see.. Whoa! Was the wall opening? Umm.. should he get A Professor? Because that hole in the wall did not look natural! In fact.. umm.. was it beating? Chinese Fireballs! What was going on.. he felt like he should turn away and go find help.. but uhh.. he couldn't stop looking at the wall. Or the growling sounds.. something needed to be done! But what? And why was he still walking towards it? |

Anyway, this was how she'd stumbled upon this very.... peculiar scene. The stones ripping apart like tissue paper, the strange flashes of light.... The sounds. It seemed to be alive... ....And there was a boy standing nearby it. One Liv had become familiar with in lessons and around the castle. A much older Ravenclaw... Huh. He appeared to be... entering the vortex? Could it be called a vortex? It did look otherworldly. "Hey!" She called out... inching a bit closer to the swirling lights and underlying noises of danger. Her legs were almost moving on their own accord... Or perhaps it was her subconscious that had decided to investigate. Could one's subconscious make limbs move without the person knowing? ".... What.... What is this?" It was a hushed question. |
this connected to the other one right? *connects it* xD He's just gonna say its his lucky day today since he actually messed up Flynn's beloved bucket and mop but the Caretaker wasnt around to see it, PLUS a house elf showed up to clean up the mess. He just cant believe his luck! He left the Head Girl for a bit because now he thinks he has full reign of a Flynn-less corridor and such opportunities shouldnt be wasted! So off he goes cruising around on his hoverboard, swerving around people and corners at a good speed-- -- holycowwhatisthatglowinggunkythinginthemiddleofthe-- "--AAAHHHHHH STAAAAHHHPP!!" :x3: Too late. And there goes Tenacius zooming towards the direction of the tear in time and space.... |

Perhaps his Gryffindor side was taking over for a moment? Or perhaps it was just the hum of the portal, but the grey eyed boy was clearly not thinking with the logical side of his brain.. A hand automatically went out to the side as he heard a voice, almost as if he was blocking her way through, he didn't want anyone hurt. "Hey. " He said without turning his head, he was feeling like he was fighting with himself, to turn around and leave or to walk through the portal.. "I don't know, but I'm going to check it out.. Perhaps you should go get a teacher?" The dark haired boy finally turned to look at the younger blonde girl. "I'm going to go check it out. " He said with a nod. "Obviously I can't tell you what to do, I'm no one of consequence, but just.. be careful. " He warned before he took a deep breath.. and stepped through the portal.. |
Liv & Leon It was getting colder and colder outside as winter approached, so Rula was spending more time indoors, which also meant getting a bit of exercise indoors too. Going up and down the stairs was great for that, of course. So since she had a bit of free time before she needed to get some homework done, she wandered up through the floors, eventually reaching the sixth floor...and noticing a couple students and something very, very strange. At least, there WERE two students, until one was stepping into the eerie, circular...hole? Whatever it was. "What's going on???" She asked, too curious not to walk toward them, only now realizing the other student was Liv. "Where's he going?" Should they go after him? Should they do something about this? Could anyone do anything about it? |

There was a difference. PLUS she had a very important question to ask him, okay!!! But it was super hard to catch up to him since he was ZOOMING around on his hover-board, and honestly Zoryn ran out of breath like two corridors ago so she had to take a quick breathing break. Okay BREAK OVER. Back to "YO, GryffinDAA--" Wait what. He just went... poof? And this is the part where Zoryn started running. Because she was gonna rescue her favoritest Prefect ever, Tenacius. Oh a hole! That looks safe. "GERONIMOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Cannonball!!!!!!!!!! |
There was nothing about the school that evening to suggest to Kitty that there was anything odd or peculiar going on. The castle was mostly peaceful and everyone was either studying or, reading, or playing games in the common rooms. She was on her last prefect patrol of the day. After this she was going to hang out at the library and maybe give some Muggle rights pins to students she met down there. But just as she was about to head back, she heard a girl shout "YO GryffinDAA" from up ahead. What was that about? Out of sheer curiosity, she headed in that direction and rounded the corner. "What the -?" she began, staring wide eyed in awe at the hole in the wall. There was an eerie glow and tendrils were coming out of it. Now Kitty was naturally a curious person. Sometimes people made jokes to her that curiosity killed the cat, (which she never found funny) and it was true that her curiosity had gotten her in trouble before. But this was the hallway she had heard a girl shout out from, and she was almost certain that whoever shouted had gone into that hole - and her curiosity was dying to know what was on the other side. "It's gorgeous," she whispered, taking her camera and snapping two pictures of the hole. Then she opened her purse and commanded her quick quotes quill to fly out. "Hey quick quotes quill," she said. "Write down this: I, Kitty DuGray Valentine, was patrolling on regular prefect patrols when I heard a scream nearby. Running to investigate, I found a huge hole on the wall, with eerie glowing light and tendrils coming out of it. I don't know what it is, but I think maybe the girl who shouted went in. I'm going in after her. I hope it's not dangerous, but I don't know. I'm afraid the hole will vanish if I leave to get help. I'm leaving one of the pictures I took with the note so you know what to look for if it vanishes. I hope I'll be back soon. I love you all." She posted the note and one of the pictures on the wall opposite the portal. Then, with eyes wide open and staring ahead, Kitty DuGray Valentine walked gracefully through the portal. |
Sinead had had a mixed day, all in all. Lessons had been annoying, but then she'd gone to get some extra spell practice in, in her favourite location: the Transfiguration practice room. She'd worked out some tricky spells and was proud of herself for that, but then got stumped on a basic charm all first years should apparently be able to master. So, she didn't quite know how to feel as she left the Transfiguration room, her cat tagging along at her heels (she often took him along for post-lesson practice) and made her way back along the corridor... that is, until she saw a something flicker in her peripheral vision. She stopped in her tracks, uneasy, but not sure what she'd seen. The corridor was the same as always, surely? Or not. The wall flickered again, seeming like it was about to phase out of being like a badly connected TV picture. Ptolemy, the cat at her heels, hissed as he saw it, hairs standing rigid along his back. Sinead couldn't help but share the sentiment: this was something fundamentally unnatural. This suspicion was only confirmed as the wall rippled again, churning discomfortingly. It kind of reminded her of the surface of water as a whale had surfaced, one time when she'd seen them on holiday. It seemed like something was going to burst forth... and much as she wanted to back away, something kept her feet rooted to the spot and eyes wide with fascination. Next thing she knew, the whole wall seemed to erupt and what was undoubtedly a passage to another place had opened before her eyes. It was far from welcoming. Ptolemy brushed her legs as he stalked back and forth, spitting at the portal, and she knew she ought to feel the same way what with the tentacles and the sinister rhythm she could feel beating out from the light... but she was burning to know what lay beyond, and almost unbidden, her feet moved beneath her, carrying her closer to the other and away from her Hogwarts. She had just the presence of mind to bend and scoop Ptolemy from the floor, trying to bear him with her, before she was gone and the wall closed with a little hiccup behind her, the girl swallowed away cleanly. |
Harvey was on his way back from the library, not particularly thinking about where he was going, when he stumbled across something... well, strange, on the sixth floor... A circle. A... portal? He knew he was in a Magic school and all, but were those things even real? Was this an illusion? Deciding that investigating was better than having to clean up after Napoleon (since the state of the Owlery meant the bird just made a mess in his room now, Harvey stepped forward and... through he went! |
Carl was on his way back to the Common Room after a Transfiguration practice session. He had learned a new spell that could change the color of his outfit and after many trials, he had turned his school uniform bright red! ... he did need to change it back before lessons began the next day. Out of the corner of his eye, the fourteen-year-old saw something that grabbed his attention. A glow of light. What was that? He looked around, wondering if anybody else had saw it. There was nobody around him. Being the curious teenager he was, he took a few steps forward, then another few steps, past Kitty DuGray Valentine's picture and note... then he was on the other side of the Portal. |
Olly was just a few steps ahead of Remy, holding his hand and pulling him along as they ascended the stairs. He was excited for this date, because he had planned it himself. It was in their usual spot, the Room of Requirement. Olly wanted to have a picnic but it was getting pretty late in the year, and this was a particularly cold day. But he had prepared some food and had a picture of his mind of how he wanted the room to look. Soft, synthetic grass with a picnic blanket and basket. A small pool in the corner if they wanted to swim. A large window to look down on the grounds. A few more details that he was trying to focus on. Since the room could not make food, it was a good thing Olly liked to cook. He had prepared a few things and brought them along, stuffed into his bag with his art things that he almost always had on his person even if he wasn't necessarily planning on using them. When they reached the sixth floor Olly paused, his eyes catching on something further down the corridor. It looked kind of like a hole in the wall, but it was bright and looked like something was moving inside. "What's that?" He asked. His natural curiosity spurred him forward, closer to the strange hole. There were weird tendrils coming out the side. It looked probably dangerous. This was Hogwarts, a magical school, and this was something magical that Olly had never encountered before. Logically he knew it probably was not a good idea to go investigating without any more information but he couldn't help it. It was unclear if he was drawn closer to the thing because of his own curiosity or a strange unexplainable pull. Either way, he continued to take more steps toward his, his hand still clasped firmly in Remy's the whole time. |
For those that decided to not go through the mysterious hole in the wall, you find yourself checking the time regularly. Those brave (or foolish) explorers that went to the other side have been gone for thirty minutes ... one hour ... two hours. A strange feeling grows in the pit of your stomach. Something just doesn't feel right. Dare you go through the portal yourself and drag them back? Or is it time to seek the help of a professor? |
Whooooa. What was that? Brent was no stranger to bright flashing lights. Anytime a spell was cast, some sort of light usually happened. This looked different, though, and for some strange reason unknown to him, he decided to investigate. This was so Gryffindor of him, but he was currently bored and had nothing else to do, so why not? "Duuuuuuuude," was all the Slytherin boy could say as he rounded the bend and discovered the huge gaping hole in the wall. He said no more, though, as all he could do now was focus on that hole. He was even walking toward it now. Pretty soon, there was one Brent Westwood through the hole and into...whatever this was he'd gotten himself into. |
Like Steely said meshing with the Sixth Floor Corridor Rp.. What the hell?? What was Ace up to? He really was making the bucket and mop dance? She wanted to see it if he was, but before she could he took off away from her. She thought about turning and just going to her dorm but the feeling of missing what he was going to do with the bucket made her turn on her heel and follow him. He was a prefect so she shouldn't care too much, but curiosity and being nosy was something that always got her into trouble. "Ace where are you?" That when she stopped and blinked. She saw Brent and then she didn't. What was going on? Her eyes moved searching the area. Had whatever just happened to Brent happened to Ace? Maye she should get a professor to check it out, but if she left would it disappear? Why couldn't she do a patronous yet? Some head girl she was turning out to be.... Looking down the corridor and then back to the spot the boy had vanished she took a deep breath and headed away to find a professor. |
*pops in* Mentions of Nat. What. Was. Going. On. Noelle had been heading to the Transfiguration classroom to work on some things outside of class when something crazy was happening. The wall looked like.... like it was being ripped open and something.... was coming into our world. How weird did that sound??? Noelle saw Head Girl Nat starting to leave and despite her terror of what was happening, she knew she had to do something. "HEY NAT! NAT WAIT UP!!" Noelle said in an almost panicked way. Should they block off the hallway? To keep other students from going near that thing??? Noelle didnt trust it. She had no idea other students had already gone into it. But she knew that she didnt want any other students going into it. Nat would know what to do. She had the utmost respect for the older girl. |
"BEEPBOOPBEEPBOOPBEEPBOOP!" That is the sound a firetruck makes when it swooshes past. It is also the sound that Carlton made when he walked through the sixth floor corridor, having just missed the Head Girl (Nat) and the Gryffindor student (Noelle). "BEEPBOOPBEEPBO..." Yuck. Gross. What eeees it? Carlton took a few steps closer to the wall. He was a curious person but also not so curious to crawl through a hole. Unless... Voices? He took two steps closer to the yuckiness. "Beepboop?" He took two steps forward, cluthing his transfiguration textbook closer to his chest. "BOOP." And he stepped through. |
Hearing a voice she turned just for a moment. It was Noelle, had there ben other's standing there and she didn't notice? She was only concerned to where Ace had gone and then saw the Slytherin disappear in front of her. "Noelle don't go near it." She looked at the younger girl for a moment. "You just stay here and keep your wand out, I'm going for a professor." She didn't want to admit she didn't know how to do a patronous and that her attempt was failing. "I'll be right back I promise." Turning she took off down the corridor. |
Mentions of Rula, Liv, Olly, Carlton OKay...... Noelle pulled her wand out and looked back at the portal and where others were still at. She'd noticed them but she had just wanted to figure out what was going on and what this thing was. She heard a siren like noise coming before around her and looked up. "HEY WAIT! " Noelle exclaimed as she went towards the kid that was making the siren noise. He was heading straight for the hole. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?? AND WHY COULDNT SHE REMEMBER HIS NAME! "DONT!!" Noelle shouted but the boy was gone. Vanished. This was the first kid that she'd seen go through the portal thing.... and that scared the mess out of her. ................ OKay.... So she wasnt about to let that happen again. Noelle saw Liv and Rula near the portal and made her way over in a rush to them. "Whats going on???? DId you see that???" Maybe they knew something. And was that Olly and Remy?? Please please please... "Olly dont go in there!" Why did they look like they wanted to go into the creepy looking hole??? In the meantime.... Noelle racked her brain and could barely remember a spell they had been taught in second term. "Impiriano" Noelle said a little shakily, hoping that it created a one way barrier and blocked others from going into the portal. |
Kat was in a hurry to get to the owlery. She had a letter that she needed to get sent off to her mother. She was moving quickly along the corridors, It was such a pain to get the owlery all the way to the top. Especially when you were consistently going up and down them for lessons all day. The fourth year got up to the sixth floor... finally Not that much more to go to get the owlery. She stopped in her tracks, What in the name of Merlin was that? Kat moved closer to get a better look at it. A hole. Should she take a look and see what this led to? She slowly she moved closer, and closer. Was there even a way around this? |
Alex was off exploring again he not that he hadn't been there before but he forgot what was on this floor. then he noticed the portal, It must have been something that had been added recently. "Oh well here go's nothing." Alex said as he walked though the portal. |
What was that? Olivia approached the weirdly shaped membrane creature thing? It looked like something out of an episode of Star Trek or something. And what was that NOISE? Was it coming from the spinning object? And was it moving like a heart beat? Weird. She eyed it and cautiously tip-toed towards it with her wand at the ready. She wanted to back away but something (whether it be or sheer Gryffindor dumb-luck or the portal itself) compelled her not to. Olivia had to find out what was on the other side. She continued to walk towards it until she walked through it accepting whatever fate lay ahead! |
A trip down from the Astronomy tower after visiting Caroleena led Kay to the sixth floor for some reason. She was thinking about checking on her equipment in the Fun Room just to make sure that no damage was done to any as she usually did every week. That's when she heard the voice of the female Gryffindor prefect. Curious and with a scintilla of nervousness because of the girl's tome of voice, she made her way over. "Ms Summers? What's happening?'' Kay was about to acknowledge the other students but that thing caught her eye. Her eyes widened in shock. What in the world? "Everyone, stay back,'' Kay stated calmly but firmly, her protective instincts kicking in. "No one is to go any closer. Has anyone informed the Headmistress about this?'' |
Oops!? Skylar didn't know why she was up on the sixth floor except that it was on the way down to her common room from the towers and for some reason stopping off to maybe see when her next transfiguration lesson was seemed like a good idea. Also why were people loitering around on the floor ?!? She was definitely NOT brave, however the third year was most definitely curious as she moves toward the pulsating hole completely oblivious to Kat and Noelle near by and Nat brushing by her the opposite way. Without another thought about it - and before Kat or Noelle could utter anything to her - Sky took a step forward - hearing Professor Stewart's voice just as she entered the portal... Here goes nothing!! |
Kane wasn't usually one to take walks at night around the castle. He was doing it tonight, though, because he was PRETTY SURE he had developed that restless leg syndrome thing, and sitting was really uncomfortable. He just kept wanting to jiggle his leg, and it was making Divination homework SUPER hard to concentrate on. He wasn't a fan of the subject to begin with, and add THAT on top of it? Yeah, he was not going to get anything done tonight if he didn't try to appease the nerves that were going nuts in his left leg right now. As he walked down the sixth floor corridor - how had he gotten here? Stupid stairs, he had been heading for the library! - he noticed a small knot of people around...something. Normally he wouldn't care, but he heard Professor Stewart, and she was yelling at people to not get any closer to...something. Ok now he HAD to figure out what was going on! "Professor Stewart? What's going on?" he asked, not even thinking for a moment that it might not be any of his business. His eyes then made their way over to the...well, doorway was the best way to describe it. A BEATING doorway. He couldn't stop STARING, watching it in interest. That had to be a...a portal? To somewhere? Yes, that HAD to be it...and he wanted to GO THROUGH IT. It was like he was ENTRANCED BY THE HEARTBEAT DOOR. He took a step forward. And another. He didn't actually go through it, because some voice of reason in the back of his head was reminding him that HELLOOOO STEWART JUST SAID NO...but he wasn't sure how long he would be able to resist those noises that seemed to be beckoning him into it... |
