Oh, Moscow. That was interesting! Rosalyn had never been there before, but she had read a bit about the city. "What kinds of things did you get up to in Moscow?" she asked curiously. It was always nice to hear these stories because not only was it nice for people to have fun, but she could imagine that she was there as well.

The potion brewing part got a smile from her seeing as that was what her uncle specialized in. "You're interested in Potioneering then?" Or was it because he needed help with the subject? Honestly it hadn't been Rosalyn's strongest subject by any means though she had still enjoyed it. Kind of.

Jordan just smiled. "Hopefully I will see you in my class, Miss." He said to the Gryffindor. "First and Second years are not mandatory to take Care of Magical Creatures class, but I welcome any students to join my class, and not forcing it either." Trust him, care of magical creatures was one of the most fun elective subjects.

What did he call.... Oh, of course that she meant the dog. "This little spoiled brat is Big Boss." He answered as he pat the dog on head. Big Boss always loved that. He's a very spoiled and attention seeking dog.

Olly had spotted Henry just before he'd jumped in the water. He hadn't had enough time to wave back at him, and he couldn't do that now that he was swimming. Was Henry going to come out and see the squid too? He should. It was a rare opportunity and Olly was definitely not going to let it slip through his fingers.

When he got closer to the squid he slowed and began to tread the water. "Hello." His voice was hesitant at first. Was he really talking to a squid? The giant squid? This was amazing. "Hello Bartholomew. My name is Oliver." What else was he supposed to say? What did giant squids like to talk about? "Uh, how's it going?"

Bartholomew was satisfied with the company he was having. Being the only Giant Squid at Hogwarts this meant he was held in fascination and curiosity by the students as well as adults. “Pleasure to meet you, Katerina. You as well, Henry. Are you both having a good day?’’ Bartholomew waved a tentacle vaguely. “Nowhere in particular, Henry. I’ve been around. I have to catch the sunshine while its here.’’

“The pleasure is all mine, young Oliver. It is going well thank you. ’’ Bartholomew extended a tentacle to each of the three. “There is nothing quite like a meeting between students and squid. Have you three been attending Hogwarts for a long time?’’

Colt thought it was time to take the necessary trip to the lake. He needed some fresh air after being cooped up in the castle. Don't get him wrong, usually walking inside was fun but there was nothing like feeling the sea breeze. He made his way down and sat by his favorite tree. He was looking at it closely and never in his lifetime did he ever see the hollow hole. He gave it a quizzical look. He wondered what could be inside it? He reached it and he prayed to merlin that nothing would grab his hand. Especially a furry critter. That would freak him out.

He felt something square and then pulled it out and saw it was a book. What are books doing in the tree stump? He would never think to put any in here. He scanned through it and it seemed ancient. He saw all the notes in here from previous classmates and was intrigued. He kept flipping through the pages.

Kimi smiled at Professor Newton and said "Well just did muggle things sightseeing and stuff like that Moscow is a lovely city full of history that was interesting to learn about and yes i am interested in Potioneering i had to practice because i felt it was one of my weaker subjects last year"

As a history lover, Rosalyn naturally was pleased to hear that Kimi had done sightseeing and learned about things. That was something that she always enjoyed seeing because it was ALWAYS good to get a lot out of holidays. Now she was entering full Professor mode. "What kind of things did you learn about Moscow?" NOT trying to turn this into a lesson or anything, she was generally curious about it!

It wasn't so surprising to hear that he was struggling in Potions. Not because she felt he was incapable, but because Rosalyn knew it wasn't the easiest class and Kimi WAS still young. "Well, I am glad to hear that you have been practicing. I am assuming that Professor Newton has been helping you outside of lessons?" The other Professor Newton obviously. It was weird referring to her uncle in that way, but she couldn't exactly refer to him as 'Uncle Art' when talking to students.

The lake. It was obligatory for every Hogwarts student to come here. In fact, it was basically expected for students to spend a lot of time around the lake. Daisy herself didn't see the appeal. Sure, it was fun to be outside on the rare sunny days they got and it was brilliant to fly around the lake but usually - it was just so crowded.

Still, today she had been bored inside.

She was also sort of thinking that she would find her brother down by the lake, throwing pieces of toast the giant squid. It seemed he wasn't here, however, and Daisy wandered around, a box of Bertie Botts beans in her hand as she took in the view. She might as well. That was when she saw a familiar Slytherin sitting by the tree and decided to walk up to him. "Hey Head Boy! How's it going?"

Sure, she had never spoken to him but might as well start now, right? He was the Head Boy. One never knew when that acquaintance might come in handy.

Olly still couldn't get over that he was talking to a squid. It shouldn't really have been that out of the ordinary somewhere like Hogwarts. There were all kinds of strange things and magical creatures. But a squid was not a magical creature, and that was why the fact he could talk was so jarring. Bartholomew was definitely right that there was nothing quite like a meeting between students and a squid.

Was he supposed to shake hands with the squid? Well not hands because squids didn't have hands. But he was extending a tentacle like a human would for a handshake. Olly tentatively reached out for the tentacle and did his best to give the squid a handshake...or tentacleshake. "This will be my fifth year," he answered. Henry's too but to be honest he didn't really know the girl Henry was with. "How long have you lived here?" A long time, judging by how far back stories of the giant squid went.

It was the weekend. The perfect time to take a break from grading essays and tests her students had just completed this passed week. Sometimes even a Professor needed some free time to just relax and enjoy the fresh air.

So why was it then that Camilla Stewart was sat on a blanket beneath one of the trees with one of the students essays in one hand and a quill in the other? There really wasn't any rush in grading these yet she found herself just wanting to get done with it, silently yelling at herself for even giving this assignment to them in the first place.

Sighing softly Cami exchanged her quill for the charmed mug of hot tea she had sitting beside her. Taking a long sip of the warm liquid before setting it down once more. Her brown eyes traveled over the surrounding area close to her before picking up the quill once more and continuing her grading.

Not to far off just a few feet to the left in the grass lay Bonsai, spread out and soaking up the sunshine.

“ROSCOE! BUMI! STOP RIGHT THERE! NOT IN THE--”

SPLAASSSH!

“Oh for the love of Merlin, you two. Will it always be like this? The water is too cold even for you.” River slowed down to a jog, and stopped at the edge of the lake as he took deep breaths to steady his breathing. He watched his two boys helplessly as they swam in the lake like it was no one’s business. “Enjoy it while you still can, no treats for you guys tonight.” He said with an amused face and a chuckle as he placed both of his hands on his hips. To be honest, he couldn’t blame his dogs if they got excited to see a body of water. How long has it been since their last excursion? River can no longer remember but the boys thoroughly enjoyed that trip...and saved muggles along the way.

The Healer stepped back as he cradled his right hand and saw that he got burned from holding their leash in a very tight manner. The sudden pull from two big dogs didn’t help as well, but then again, he’s a Healer so he knew exactly what to do.

Kimi smiled at Professor Newton and said "Well i learned that Moscow was one of the scenes of the Russian Revoultion way back in 1917 because the Russians were not happy with there ruling family and backed the revolutionists and were the Russian royal family were all killed and it was not nice to hear about it but it happened, and yeah i have been getting a little bit of help from Professor Newton but during the summer my mum helped me a lot because well she works with Potions everyday in her line of work"

What in the world?!

One moment it was peaceful and quiet out here where she was casually grading these papers and the next screaming. Not the kid from children having fun either.

Camilla lifted her head just in time to see two very large dogs bound out into the lake. Ha! That was the cutest thing ever aside from her cat that is. "Aaww let them have their fun," she called out to River laughing, having spotted him not to far off. "They're not harming anyone and they could be dried quickly anyhow?" A simple charm should be able to handle it once the dogs came out of the water.

The dogs running passed must have caught Bonsai's attention as he was now eyeing the lake suspiously.

Colt was busy into his book and he heard footsteps next to him. He looked up and saw a familiar slytherin. Her name escaping his brain but he would play it cool. "Hey there.." he greeted her with a half wave and a wide grin. "Got some bertie botts beans there.." he pointed to her box. "Got any good ones in there for me to try?" He was always a thrill seeker. He actually was accustomed to the grass flavor since he always got that one. "How is your year going so far?" he asked. He had to perform his head boy duties and ask how the students are doing.

Well, she sort of had been expecting the Head Boy to introduce himself only so that she could associate a name to the face, but he hadn't. Oh well. Head Boy he would remain. Shrugging her shoulders, the fifteen year old dropped her bag on the grass and sat down next to the boy. He seemed nice enough so surely he wouldn't mind.

Besides, he couldn't tell her to go away, could he? Head Boy responsibilities or something like that must forbid it.

"Cross your fingers..."She offered him the box of candy, but not before getting one bean for herself and popping it into her mouth. "Ewww. Sardine. Disgusting." She scrunched up her face at the taste in her mouth, half considering going to the shore of the lake and getting some water to drink. Her attention was returned to the older boy, however, when he asked her about her year and she shrugged her shoulders yet again, now setting the box between them. "Too much studying and not enough flying. She replied with a wry smile in his direction as she pushed her uniform socks down to her ankles and then stretched her legs before her. "How about yours? Do Head Boys really need to study that much?" She asked, pointing towards the book he had been holding.

He should know everyone in his house but he knew some names but not enough faces. He will get her name eventually. He saw her sitting on the grass and he half smiled at her. He was keen on trying one of her bertie botts beans though. He crossed his fingers and held them high to show her. He offered "May I?" he saw her offering the box and dug in. He wondered what flavor he would get. He got a orange one with some coloring on it. He tried to examine but didn't remember all the flavors. "Well here it goes.." he popped into his mouth and took a big bite and felt the flavor.

Errghhh...

He scrunched his face, "Eekkk I got Vomit..." he spit it out. He wasn't gonna finish that one. The one that he hated. He tried to get the taste of out his mouth. He got up and went to the lake and scooped his hands and took a drink. Aaahh better. He walked back and sat down next to her. "Do you need some water?" he asked politely and wiped off his mouth with his robes. He figured he might do the introduction now. "I am Colt by the way.." He was sure she knew by looking at the roster his head of house put up but this was formal. He laughed at her comment and she couldn't have spoken truer words. "Ain't that the truth. I need to fly some more that's for sure. I am itching to go back on my broom.." he said and looked longingly at the castle where his broom was in his common room.

He returned his attention to his fellow slytherin and was humored by her question. "Nah not as much as you think. Yeah we might have to study more because of our NEWTS though. Which year are you in?" He figured she might be a fourth year. She probably didn't need to study that much.

NOOOOO. Daisy grimaced as she watched Head Boy pop what was clearly a vomit-flavoured bean into his mouth. Eeek, that was probably her fault. Whilst she didn't much mind the others flavours, she absolutely detested the vomit one so she'd pick and choose - and in the end, her boxes would be a sea of orange beans.

She didn't have time to apologise to the boy out loud, though, because before she could begin he was already standing up and rushing to the lake. YES, she had thought about that as well! The fifteen year old grinned at the older boy excitedly, watching in approval as he drank from the water in the lake. She liked his Head Boy. He seemed sensible. "Nah, thanks." She replied, still grinning when he came back. "Sardines isn't that bad, at least it's food, you get used to it. Vomit is horrible, though. She was kind of rambling now and took one deep breath before extending her hand towards Head Boy .. well, Colt, she supposed. "I'm Daisy. Pleasure to meet you!" Colt seemed to share her opinion on school and Daisy turned to him, slightly bouncing in her seat when he spoke about flying. "Yesss, I am too! OH, and how I miss a good game of Quidditch! Honestly, she might as well be putting a hand to her forehead and pretending to faint because THAT WAS HOW MUCH SHE MISSED QUIDDITCH OKAY?

Sigh. Alas.

The dramatic expression left her face as soon as he mentioned not needing to study that much and Daisy nodded at his words thoughtfully. "See, I didn't think you did because my Dad was Head Boy once and he really doesn't seem the type to have studied that much." Or at all, really, but he had still graduated so he must have studied a bit. "Fifth year. So I've got OWLs." Which meant everyone was freaking out already and Daisy was feeling a bit guilty already. "Is it really that bad?" Everyone kept telling her OWLs were horrible but really, how bad could they be? She shrugged to herself and looked down at the box of candy between them. Hmmm. "You can take more, you know?" She said, pointing at the box. Maybe he had gotten scared off by the vomit, though.

Of the three students that were chatting with him, Bartholomew could see that it was Oliver that was most in awe of him. Bartholomew knew it had to be due to one of the facts that he could talk or he was a creature that resided at Hogwarts for such a long time.

“A few years from graduation.’’ Bartholomew shook his tentacle heartily with Oliver. “I suspect you already know what you want to do with your future.’’ Now Bartholomew moved on to the question. “Yes I have lived here many a year. I have seen many generations of Hogwartians. I have met thousands of humans. I can say I have lived quite a social life.’’

Kat couldn't believe that she was actually talking to and seeing the squid. She sat down next to Henry on the dock. "Its really him, huh?" She said with a excited laugh. She glanced over to see Henry pretty much zoned out for a moment. She giggled and snapped her fingers in front of the older boys face. Earth to Henry. She was completely unfazed that the squid was talking.

She took the squids tentacle. What a polite squid. Mama squid must be proud of her well mannered squid. "Just lovely, sir Bartholomew." His tentacle was kind of squishy. "I'm a fourth year and have been here since my first year." And she was finally seeing the giant squid. Wait until her brother found out that she got to see and talk to him. Yeah, take that Phillip.

Colt saw his fellow slytherin have a look of horror on her face. She might have thought she could get in trouble for giving him the vomit flavor on purpose. He would obviously let it slide because it was just his luck. "Don't worry I won't turn you in. It was a friendly game and plus it is just my luck to get the worst flavor.." he shrugged. Joke is on colt for today. "Yeah vomit I always seem to get.." he said and was still trying to get the taste out of his mouth when he sat down. Now that he knew her name, he didn't feel as bad. "Nice to meet ya Daisy.." he nodded. He was stunned by her enthusiasm with quidditch. He chuckled and appreciated it all the same. That is how he felt on the inside whenever he was playing a match. "I mean I miss having the breeze through your hair, shoving people to the side and scoring goals." Yeah he was a chaser, chaser was in his blood. "Which position did you play?" Now he was curious.

Aaah that was interesting. "So you could be in the running to be head girl huh?" Now she has to live up to family ties. No pressure or anything. "No pressure right?" he smirked. "So me and your dad have a lot in common though. I mean yeah I am no bookworm or anything. I didn't take lessons as seriously but I do excel in Dark Arts. I just love that subject.." He did pass his OWL with flying colors. Speaking of OWLS, he heard Daisy was in her OWL year. Yikes. That is gonna be tough. "Well we will be in the same boat for studying that's for sure." Is it that bad? Is what bad? The testing or the stress? He shrugged and gave it to her plain and simple. "If you make it seem that bad. Just don't get too stressed and just pay attention in class is all. Just take lots of notes.." There word of advice. That's is what this slytherin did and he passed. He also made doodles to help him remember when the Professor said in the class.

Now she was testing him? He raised an eyebrow in a challenge. He chuckled and reached in the box and took some more. "Alright I'll bite." Literally he would bite it. He got a bean and examined it. He wondered what this yellow bean could be? He took a bite and got banana. "Alright I got a safe one, it was banana." he was relieved. Now time for Daisy to pick her fate. He looked across the lake and saw the Giant squid. He pointed to it and said, "You see the giant squid over there?"

Busy poking his scratched palm, River took a full 360 as he heard a voice behind him. The Healer wasn't sure now if it had been an amusing sight to see, or he just embarrassed himself in front of a fellow colleague. Well, she clearly was laughing, so he supposed it was amusing...but still embarrassing to have witnessed that.

River took a quick glance over his shoulder and shook his head. "They were supposed to be doing a round of running around the grounds...but I guess swimming isn't a bad choice for their daily exercise." the Healer grinned at the Transfiguration professor and walked over to where she was. The curious cat beside her got a gentle rub behind the ear in greeting. "Do you mind if I join you?" Because it looked like she was...doing work.

The sight before her had been nothing short of amusing. Really her focus had been on the two large pups bounding into the water and splashing about, rather then River standing up on the bank calling to them. Even rescue dogs needed some downtime in her opinion and really no harm was being done to anyone. Not unless like they came over and shook their wet fur all over her and these essays she was grading.

Camilla laughed softly. "Perhaps they just wanted a change in pace today, not everyone enjoys doing the same thing day after day." Herself included. A smile tugged at her lips as she watched Bonsai stretch and flop over purring contently at the rub to his head. "He says hello," she told the Healer with another laugh. Oh, he wanted to join her. Neatly stacking the parchments into a pile and setting them out of the way along with her grading quill she nodded at the blanket she was sat on. "Not at all. Have a seat." Some company would be very nice.

"How's things in the hospital wing? Not to busy yet?" The cold and flu season would be upon them soon enough. Poor Rose having already gotten sick not to long ago was more then likely just a tiny hint at those that would be finding themselves in need of River's care.

Well, at least the Head Boy seemed relaxed enough about the whole vomit thing. That was good - if her Mother found out that she somehow had managed to lose points by poisoning the Head Boy she would not be happy. Daisy smiled a bit apologetically up at him but that smile soon turned into a grin and all thoughts of those vomit-flavoured beans disappeared from her mind at the Quidditch talk. She nodded enthusiastically at everything he mentioned: the wind through the hair, YES, shoving people around, YES, scoring goals, YES. "There's nothing quite like it, is there? The freedom of flying and the speed of the game!" AAAH, how she missed it. "I'm a Chaser at heart but sometimes I also play as a Beater." She quite enjoyed playing as a Beater from time to time. It allowed her to release her frustration. From Colt's words she sort of assumed he was a Chaser aswell. "What about you? You sort of sounded like a Chaser there." She told him with a conspirational smile in his direction.

Yeah, she was a regular Sherlock Holmes.

He, however, clearly wasn't or he wouldn't think of her as Head Girl material. Daisy gigglesnorted at the older boy's words and shook her head with a laugh. "I really don't think so." You had to be smart to be Head Girl, surely! Maybe not exactly a bookworm because - well, of her Dad and apparently Colt but still, surely you had to be a bit smart. "Pretty sure it takes more than having a Head Boy for a Dad." Daisy frowned thoughtfully and looked over at the water. Well, she sort of had more than that, though. "Although my Mum was also a Prefect... Merlin, I hope that's not the criteria." She added as an afterthought. She really didn't want to be Head Girl. That sounded stressful and Daisy did not like stress. Speaking of which... "That sounds like good advice." She replied to his words about taking notes and paying attention in class. And being calm. "So that should be our plan for this year, then. Don't get too stressed." Although she supposed he probably would have a more stressful year than Daisy, with the responsibilities AND the NEWTs. "Are you sad to be leaving, then?" She looked at him with a raised eyebrow, paying half a mind to the thought that that was probably a very personal question for someone she had just met, but not really caring anyway.

"It wasn't really a challenge, you know?" She asked with a light laugh, blue eyes following closely as he tried another bean. It was a yellow one so hopefully he would get lucky. "It really was just an offer. But YAY for banana!" She clapped happily at that and held her hand high for a high five. No vomit, that was good! That, however, meant that there was a vomit flavoured bean waiting for her. EEK. Daisy randomly picked a bean from the box and held it close to her eyes for inspection. Oh no. She did not like that shade of brown. Here went nothing. She popped it whole into her mouth and started grimacing as soon as she started chewing. "Dirt..." She said through a grimace, but refusing to spit it out. She was nothing if not stubborn. Still, Colt's next words distracted her and she looked over at where he was pointing and saw the giant squid. "Do you think he really likes toast?"

It made Rosalyn happy to hear her students talk about history like this because it meant that they were curious about things. History was important because it's good for people to know both where they come from AND also the mistakes that had been made so as to learn from them. "I'm glad to hear that you learned so much about the place." Even if it was a rather tragic story! "Do you have family there? Or was it just a trip?"

Good to know that her uncle was helping Timi with Potions. Rosalyn hadn't expected anything else from him. Soon enough the boy would be excelling at the subject. "Is your mom a potioneer then?" Interesting career if so, but one that she never had any desire to pursue.

Henry still kept his eyes focused on the squid. It was super cool that he finally not only got to catch a glimpse of him, but also got to sit and talk to him. He could hardly hear him where he was sitting though, so maybe he should swim out to where Oliver was.

He'd been around? Must've just missed him coincidentally then, because this was his first time seeing him up close. Or close enough. "I'm heading in!" He turned to Kat as he stood up, letting her know since she was sitting there with him. He pulled off his shirt and left his rolled up trousers on as he dove in. That would be close enough to swimming trunks, right?

Swimming out a little further over to where Olly and the Squid were, Henry reached for his outstretched tentacle to shake it too. That was so cool! "I'm a fifth year too," he said, after Oliver did. Yeah, OWL year, though that was the furthest thing from his mind. Unless Bartholomew would be on the exam? He didn't really think so though. He wondered if he had ever met his parents, since he thought his dad was only telling stories. Maybe the squid wouldn't remember though, if he had met thousands. "How long do giant squids live? Can I ask how old you are?" That wasn't rude, was it? Henry wasn't intending it to be, he was just really curious.
