James shrugged and pointed at the staff table with his thumb. "The new headmistress, the one in the middle." He smirked. James would like to know more about the women professors in this school. Definitely looking forward to the classes now, feels motivated all of a sudden. We'll see. James half-nodded at Brent. "Yeah probably, Wampus? Cool." He had no preference for the houses here though, just that the hat sorted him here so he took it. "Why you transfer?"

James chuckled. "Thanks. I thought you might be too busy to give new kids your attention." He grinned. Of course, he remembered her. "Nat from the all girls band, aren't you going to introduce me to your other members since some of us are new here?" He joked, nudging Brent.

Upon entering the Great Hall, Rula's eyes instinctively turned to the Hufflepuff table - a pointless and silly thing to do because she already knew Max wasn't there. A pang of sadness hit her again as it had on and off all day, which frustrated her. She didn't want to be sad about it. He was following his dream, and she was happy for him and totally supported it...

...but she also missed him. The term had barely begun, and she already missed him.

Merlin's beard, it was going to be a long term.

Mentally shaking herself, she tried to focus instead on happier things - like the Sorting Ceremony. Abey's sorting. Yes.

Of course, she was hoping for Slytherin, but Hufflepuff seemed more likely. But any of the houses were fine with her, really. They all had good qualities, and she was sure Abey would fit in well with any of them.

More people were arriving, which only allowed Elle to relax more. Even if she still hadn’t said a word, she’d still observed what was going on around her. Like the wave from Skylar, to which she’d responded with a wave of her own and even a smile. She just wasn’t one to approach the others, and she hadn’t seen it as a problem when she knew her dormmates were capable of doing it for her. Except the only one she’d found as of yet was still distracted.

It didn’t bother her. Listening to the conversations was just as interesting, such as finding out that apparently they had transfers from Ilvermorny this term. That was definitely intriguing to a girl who hadn’t ever been able to leave England, aside from coming to Hogwarts. She’d been about to ask the two boys about that when she’d suddenly heard her name and looked over to see that the greeting had come from Colt. “Hi Colt. It’s going fairly well,” she replied. At least she hadn’t managed to earn Nat’s ire two seconds into the feast.

“Hi Oliver,” she’d said to the other seventh year buy as he’d joined the table, turning back yet again as Nat had greeted her.

“Oh, my summer was quiet. Honestly, rather boring. I spent most of it with Ashelynn since Avalon had to work,” she replied to her dormmate. She was really getting tired of her oldest sister trying to restrain her from getting to do anything independently. She just wasn’t about to tell her that, but admitting it to Nat didn’t count. Besides, Nat had gone over to speak to Cal anyhow.

Even though this was kind of out of his comfort zone, he needed to look like he was doing something. He walked down to the end of the table and made himself useful. He wasn't much for little kids. Plus Natalia didn't seem to want to deal with Colt anyways. His badge was telling people enough of his status.

Good wasn't exactly the word she'd use to describe her train ride, though she knew people mostly inquired about your train ride to be polite, and not to hear a full account of what went on. With this in mind, Junia nodded her head. "It was alright, thanks. Congratulations on the badge. I hope to wear one someday." Ambitious little thing that she was, Junia longed for power and the badge was meant to bring that, yes?

The third year gave a smile and then returned her gaze to the sorting hat and those sitting underneath it.



"Parts of it were quite good, yes!" Her summer had consisted of Hassan's wedding, family time, and time spent with friends. There had been quite a few days spent missing her grandfather, too, but keeping busy helped with that. "And yours, Sky?" The third year was curious, though distracted by the other happenings in the hall. A proper catch up later would be needed, yes.



Unfortunately, patience was not Junia's strong suit but she was doing her best not to show how antsy she was. The small brunette was trying to catch a glimpse of her younger cousin when Rula arrived. "It's taking forever for him to go, though. I might starve before he finds out his house and then he won't even be able to enjoy it!" She looked over at her big sister, all wide-eyes and dramatic faces. Life was hard sometimes, it was.

Out of all the people who could have spoken to her at the table, Sinead didn't really expect the head girl to be the first- but then, maybe it was her duty to welcome promising new members to the house. Sinead glanced up at the older girl, brushing her hair back behind her ears with a thin-lipped smile.
"Natalia. Thank you. I'm Sinead Dance. I'm really happy to have the Head Girl in my house. You're a seventh year-?" She felt a quick blaze of admiration and jealousy- so many things she must know! Well, Sinead herself was on the path to learning them now, and this was her first chance to make that happen. Imagine if she could have the head girl as a tutor! Not that she'd need a tutor. Was that even something that happened here? Either way- it would be good to know her.
"Tell me about Hogwarts. What subjects do you like? I wish we didn't have to wait till third year- I'd like to start them all now. What are you going to do after school?"



Sinead was so intently focused on Natalia that she didn't notice at first when another first- year boy sat beside her. As Natalia greeted him, though, she started slightly and turned to assess him. Her classmate for the next seven years. Well, she'd better get to know him sooner rather than later, she supposed. Sticking out her hand for him to without self- consciousness, she announced,
"My name is Sinead and I'm a first year too. Are you a muggle born or are your parents wizards? I'm asking Natalia about the subjects- I can't wait to start lessons." She didn't quite know what had come over her- she wasn't normally chatty like this, but she just had to get to know other witches and wizards. And they could tell her so much about the school!

Well, at least the Head Girl seemed a little more approachable than the Head Boy. If Brent had at least one of them on his side, he had at least something going for him. He grinned with appreciation. "Hey, Natalia. Yeah, I do," he said. "That's the second time somebody's recognized me from knowing my little brother." He gave a light laugh then added, "Maybe that means I need to get out more or something." Somehow, Kane having a legacy over him didn't sound quite right. "I'm Brent, and the little brother you met was Kane I'm guessing?" Just in case they were thinking about the wrong person, and the Head Girl hadn't actually met Kane at all.

Brent followed the guy's gesture to the lady situated in the middle of the staff table. Wait just a minute. Huh?! "Professor Hawthorne's the new Headmistress here?!" he asked. Whoooooa. Now that was something he hadn't been expecting at all. He wondered if Kane had seen her yet. Not quite over the mild shock of seeing the new Headmistress, Brent just nodded at the boy's question about Wampus. "My parents made me come here. I didn't actually want to," he said. "It was a disaster and all at first."

Brent was pretty sure he'd gotten off on the wrong foot with the Head Boy. No. Change that. He wasn't pretty sure. He was a hundred percent sure. The boy was now eyeing him as if preparing for something big, and Brent wasn't really sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He'd have to watch his back for sure. Merlin.

...and then--out extended the boy's hand, and something very unexpected happened. Okay then. Brent met the handshake, managed a smile, and said, "Nice to meet you, too." He nodded. "Yeah. I'm a transfer from Ilvermorny. I'm a fourth year." He kind of hesitated then added, "Congratulations on your badge."

He looked up when he heard his name and smiled even more when he saw it was someone he actually knew. "Hello head girl. Long time no see." It really had been ages since he'd last seen Nat...he was actually sure he hadn't seen her since he was moping over Kaliyah. At least now he could present himself better. "How was your summer?" Ollie had spent so much time out of the house, he had no idea if Nat had ever even gone over to their house to visit Tim.

Oooo and another hello! This was a good start so far. "Elle, hi! How's it going?" Surely things were going well, but he felt it was polite to ask anyway. Who knew, maybe she had had an amazing train ride and had a whole story to tell.

And then the head boy was talking to him? This was so weird for him. Oliver normally didn't speak to so many people, but he was enjoying it anyway. Actually, he found it kind of funny that the head boy didn't remember meeting him so long ago in the boys' dorms. "Hey Colt, I'm Oliver. We met once a long time ago, but it was pretty brief." He still smiled at the seventh year though. No harm done. Ollie wasn't the most memorable person anyway.

Without a doubt there was no way that she would go without visiting the Slytherin table tonight. First she had gone over to bug Phillip which was always fun. She decided that should go leave but alone before he started picking on her next. She did not want that not with Cornelius that close by. Corn did get a smile but she didn't speak to him.

She had already seen Nat on the train and talked to her. Plus she had lost her bracelet or thought she had lost it. Nat was right here helping her look. They even had a little woman to woman talk, boy troubles. They were such pains. "Hey Nat I found my bracelet."

Luckily She heard the voices of Nat, and Katy. She walked over to where they were. There was her best Kat friend, Katy. "Hey Katy! The Hufflepuff beamed at her friend. She hugged her Katy. They were reunited at last. The Katy's. She laughed hearing her ask Nat how could she? "I Know, We won't be able to get away with anything now." She was only teasing of course. She smiled at Nat then at Katy.

Did Colt just call Nat, Natalie? She wondered if Colt was looking for a fight. What? Wait. Colt was head boy? Well now that was interesting. "Hey Colt. So you are head boy?" She had not talked to Colt in a long time, but she knew he was her friends Juliette's boyfriend.



There was James! The fourth year smiled seeing the friend she made in Diagon Alley this summer. "Hey James, You got sorted into Slytherin I see." Kat had to admit that Slytherin boys was her weakness, and maybe a few Hufflepuff boys. She giggled to her self.

Then she seen Jonas he was in her year, She wasn't sure if they had actually ever talked but she would be nice, she was a Hufflepuff after all. She was at his house table so it was only polite to speak, yes. "Hi Jonas. Did you have a good summer?'

Kat seen another seventh year, if she remembered correctly she thought his name was Oliver. He did wave at her right? Or was it someone else. Either way she waved back. "Hello, Oliver. How was your summer?" Hopefully that was actually his name that would be embarrassing if it wasn't.

Seeing two other girls, Rula and Junia, she could never remember if they were sisters or cousins. She smiled and gave both of them a little wave. "Hey Junia, Rula. Ready to be back this term?"

Echo couldn't believe that it was her last year! She felt like there were plenty of things that she needed to learn. Echo was walking around a bit hoping to get a look of someone that she was missing terribly. She made her way back to her table and plopped her elbows down on the top and rested her head in her hands.

Colt eyed Brent and wondered why he looked hesitant to shake his hand. It is not like he would bite the kid. He might have tricked him and maybe slipped his hand away. But he was better than that. He was impressed he transferred from Ilvermorny. "Just curious.." he began. "Why did you want to come to Hogwarts? I heard Ilvermorny is a good school.." He heard the rumors from his cousins back home in New York. "Ah thanks mate.." he said looking down at his badge. "Gives you some power I'll tell you that. It sometimes intimidates the first years.." he said eyeing some of them. Man they were tiny.

He turned his attention to the man next to him. Oh right his name was Oliver. "Oh man I'm sorry. I am terrible with names. Yeah the common room is so huge I mean I am usually in my own little world anyways." He was either reading a book or out and exploring the castle. He loved being on the Hogwarts grounds and seeing the creatures. "So man was your summer good? Met any hot chicks?" Come on give him something.

Once he saw Oliver draw his attention away from him, he saw a familiar face. Wasn't she one of Juliette's friends (Katerina). She seemed to be since she was wearing yellow robes. Ah right the Hufflepuffs. "Hey.." he greeted her with her name slipping away from him as he speaks. "Yeah I know crazy right? I gotta look after the little rugrats.." he said pointing to some firsties at the table. "Did you see Juliette over there at all?" he asked being the curious boyfriend he was. "Also how was your summer?" he asked not making it all about Juliette. But come on who was he kidding.

Slate cocked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow when an older girl came and spoke to him. "Um. Okay?" he said. He wasn't really sure what any of those words meant or if he needed to care or if that was supposed to be important.

"I'm Slate. Your... person that is in this seat right now."

Cool story.

Then someone else spoke to him. ... He shook her hand. "Slate." he said introducing himself. Oh. Hey sudden stream of questions. He squinted trying to run back through everything.

Was he what born? "What was that?" was that the word they kept saying at him on the streets of that one place? "I... don't know exactly? Is that not a personal question?" He felt like it was. It was as if the strange girl expected his entire family history as if that were simple.

Natalia. Head Girl. Which may or may not be something he cared about. That didn't need a comment, did it? He nodded an acknowledgement just in case.

So maybe it wasn't a slew. He was known to exaggerate. He just didn't really expect chatty so soon. He was still honestly concerned with the utensils singing. And why there wasn't a roof. Did anyone else notice that? WHO had an open air dining hall?!

Dora noticed one particular brunette enter the great hall. A smirk pulled the corner of her lip up into a small smirk. She hadn't seen Echo all summer, missed her on the train, and hadn't really been to DA too much. So like... she hadn't seen the Slytherin since last term.

She immediately excused herself from her own table and moved swiftly across to the Snakes table. Slipping into the seat beside Echo, she leaned against her and whispered, "Why the long face? "

She thought she was going to fall asleep, until she heard that voice.. it almost scared her until it rang with familiarity. "Dora" she thought. Echo turned around and smiled. "I couldn't find you! I cant believe my parents wouldnt let me leave their family vacation all summer, and made our house elf to grab my school things... did you get some of my letters?" blabbing she just shut up and kissed the girl right on the cheek and gave her a huge Hug.

"what i meant to say is that i've missed you" so happy to have Dora in her line of sight again.

Boring? Well Nat didn't like hearing that. She felt like a bad friend for not inviting her over or something, but truth be told Nat had the busiest summer of her life. She had done her internship, work, went on a Holiday, hung out, did band things, and was with Cal. She hadn't even had a chance to get a new tattoo, though she probably didn't need one either. "That stinks, we will have to make up for it this term. Cause a bit of a ruckus or something." Just because she was HG didn't mean they couldn't do a little crazy, plus the band would probably be playing in the ROR at some point.

Whelp that was that now wasn't it. She really had to think about if the males in Slytherin ever really grew up. Though she had no room to talk about male Slytherins since all her love interest happened in this very house. She just rolled her eyes at him. Honest to Merlin she was going to have to keep an eye on him as well as the first years she just knew it.

Nat knew many people weren't a fan of the train, but she didn't mind it at all. It was a way to have some quiet time before this exhausting feast. Socializing was hard though she tried to not show it. "Oh thank you." She wasn't minding everyone making a fuss, Natalia never use to like being a center of attention type person, but The Sirens had that affect on her anymore. She enjoyed it a bit more these days. "Oh you fully could. Just keep working hard and I bet you have a great chance at it." If Nat got a badge anyone could.

The squid is always nice if you actually see him." She had once or twice. "I like looking out our common room window and watching the mermaids swimming in the lake." That was a fun way to do homework. []b "My favorite subject is actually Arithmancy, but all the classes can be fun and challenging depending on what you like."[/b] This one was very full of questions wasn't she. "Oh well I have an all girl band that we formed here. That's what I'm striving for at the moment, us to be famous." Yes little one know The Sirens... know them well.

Her head started shaking and she laughed as Kat and Katy seemed to gang up on her about the fun stuff. "Please.. I haven't changed that much with just a little badge." First weird first year prize goes to.... this kid. Yep She was just kind of looking at him. She looked around for Colt, this one was for him for sure. He'd get along great with this one. She looked back at him and then looked for her other head. "Nice to meet you Slate."

She wasn't really sure where to take the conversation from there so she just gave him another smile and then went back to focusing on the boyfriend next to her.

Well wasn't someone just being acerbic. Skylar faked a laugh; "very funny, Brent. But yes although forewarning, we get rather impatient and grumpy if we have to wait long." she grinned, as she glanced up at the Dias for the first time since arriving in the Great Hall. Huh... where was Rafael? She didn't know he was leaving. "Much similar to how I am feeling now about waiting for the speech so we can eat."

"very welcome. Did you have a good summer?" Sky asked by why of making friendly conversation. Probably yes; he got a shiny badge and who wouldn't want that?

Skylar waved back at the friendly older boy who greeted everyone. "Couldn't be happier about being back. I'm Skylar, by the way. Don't think we've formally met"


Miss New Head Girl was being quite social tonight and Sky had to admire it. "I did... well it could have been better, but enjoyed my nephew and well my sister was going to have a formal wedding but then she didn't and I don't really know. But it was good. How about yours?"

Sky nodded . That made complete sense. Like hers had high hopes of being goood and finishing off excellent but when there was no wedding happening for Hayley, well it just .. she was ready to come back to Hogwarts. "It was good for the most part. Nephew and family and friends. And well my sisters wedding was supposed to happen but then it didn't so kinda bummed about that but it's all in the past now and we are back at Hogwarts so it's all water under the bridge now" and she just rambled way more than necessary. So much for saving for it for the dorm room, but given how distracted her friend looked she might end up going over it again..

In the meanwhile, her blue gray eyes fell on a new first year who seemed rather in awe and maybe a bit confused by all the enchantments around him. It could be overwhelming especially if one had never been around magic

"Hi there, I'm Skylar. Welcome to Slytherin house." She greeted warmly hoping to not startle him. "Did you have any questions about anything?" Because he looked like a lost soul basically, so if he said no, well she'd know he was trying to deny it.

The Head Girl seemed friendly. Really, Sinead had thought most of the people like that were in Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, but she supposed it wasn't a problem. Her own face remained all but blank as she listened to Natalia's description of the grounds with keen interest- not exactly the kind of information she had been after, but at this point anything about Hogwarts was welcome. Especially about the common room- nobody in her family was Slytherin, she hadn't even known it was by the lake. Somehow she didn't want to betray that ignorance, though; instead she skipped straight on to the later comment, her eyes lighting up.
"I want to start Arithmancy straight away. I was the best in my class at maths and I bet I will be at Arithmancy too." Her mother had told her not to boast, hadn't she? Especially not with new people. Oops.
"Maybe," she amended grudgingly. "Why do you want to be in a band when you could be an Arithmancer? My dad says they make loads of really important magical discoveries." Probably her mum would tell her off for saying that as well. Everyone had different talents and they weren't better or worse, just different.. blah, blah blah. Her mum was probably just jealous that she was a muggle and Sinead was a witch. Still, though, she should probably try to be polite; this was the Head Girl after all.
"I expect your band is good too," she tacked on the end somewhat feebly. How could it be, really? Wouldn't they already be famous if they were that good?



Unlike Sinead, Slate didn't seem to show much interest in Natalia- or her, for that matter. And what kind of name was Slate, anyway? She assessed him with narrowed eyes for a moment, then shrugged.
"I don't see why it's personal. It doesn't matter and everyone will find out anyway. I bet you're muggle born if you don't even know what I mean, and you're looking at the hall loads like you've never seen magic before. I'm half blood- that means one of my parents is a wizard and one is a muggle. That means no magic. Like your parents. I guess." She flashed a smile as she saw him looking up at the ceiling- she hadn't exactly been surprised to see it herself, but it was something else in the flesh and still magic on a much larger scale than she'd seen it before. Hogwarts was a pretty exciting place to be in.

Jonas nodded. He wasn't sure what else to say so he started to eat his dinner.
"I waited too long to get snacks on the train so I'm really hungry," He blurted out.

It was hard not to grin and give the whole game away, but Katy merely nodded solemnly. It was like telling firsties there was a pool in the Astronomy Tower... only better, because Surfer Boy really should have realized there was no way she'd be telling someone about a secret anything right out of the gate. Secrets were sacred and he hadn't earned them yet.

"Katy Toussaint. Katherine, if you prefer. You can find me in the Slytherin Common Room, or in the Potions wing."

...and now the Head Boy was back to eyeing him. What was up with this dude? Brent made a mental note to pull somebody to the side later on and get the scoop on the Head Boy. There had to be something to this story. Brent was sure of it. At least there was conversation afterwards. It made things less awkward.

"Truthfully, I didn't want to come here," he admitted. "It wasn't anything against Hogwarts, but I had a whole group of friends at Ilvermorny, and I was happy there. Not to mention my girlfriend flat out dumped me when I gave her the news." That had been a really low point in this whole thing. "Everybody here seems pretty cool, though. I think I'm going to like it." All that talk, and he forgot to answer the original question. "My parents took jobs here. That's why we moved."

He gave a light laugh when Colt mentioned scaring the first years. "Sounds pretty awesome," he joked.

"Oh, yeah. That's Kane alright. He's a little ball of energy just waiting to explode wherever he goes," Brent said with a laugh. Man. Kane must have really gotten around in Diagon Alley. Everybody seemed to know him. Brent was a little half-proud/half-jealous of the younger Westwood. "Well, I hope he had decent things to say about me," Brent said, thinking about how all summer Kane had seen him sulk off to his bedroom and complain about the move non-stop. "Yeah, I do. He's a Hufflepuff. Fits him perfectly, really. I'd have been surprised had he been anywhere else."

Brent grinned at her reaction. "I thought so, too," he confidently said. Skylar was getting easier to talk to. They were past that awkward getting to know you stage and into the stage where they could pass sarcasm in between them with so much ease. He followed her gaze up to the staff table, but since he really didn't know but one person up there, he didn't have much to say. Instead, she was talking FOOD, and that got his attention. "I know, right? I'm starving! What's the hold up?" he asked. "Do they usually just let us sit here and chill for a while or something?"

There was nothing else said about the super secret combat club, so Brent didn't bring it up again. He was, however, super stoked about it! There was no Quidditch, true, but this could easily be a perfect substitute.

"Alright. Katy it is," he said. He'd call her Katy, because that was how she'd introduced herself. Katherine seemed really formal. "Potions. That's awesome. It's my second favorite subject." Brent tended to be really passionate about the handful he enjoyed and just the exact opposite about the ones he hated. He was so happy to be a fourth year and not be forced to take the subjects he was literally allergic to.

Like Arithmancy. Who liked that one anyway?

He looked over at someone else who was waving and speaking to him...and while she seemed to know his name, he couldn't seem to remember hers. This was going to be awkward. "Heeey...you." He cleared his throat, hoping that was a good enough sign to let her know he didn't actually know her name. "My summer was really good! I managed to get a lot of friend time in before having to come back here." He was mostly talking about his time spent with Cordy, because that's who he'd been with 90% of the time. Oliver couldn't wait to graduate so the two of them could finally spend all the time together again. "How was yours?"

Turning to see who had taken a seat near him, he grinned at Echo whom he hadn't seen in a while either. They didn't know each other too well, but he'd loved talking to her because she was just so sassy. She was also really gorgeous, which helped too. "Echo! Hey. How have you been?" Ollie was trying really hard not to seem too excited, but he was just really enjoying himself and was getting excited to be talking to his housemates.

Not that they weren't hot, he just felt weird calling them that.

He was clearly behind in the becoming an adult department. "Mine was great too, I got to spend a lot of time with my friend who graduated last year. Lots of bonding time." It wasn't nearly enough time to makeup for their year apart, but it would have to do.

Had they seen? Had they heard? Had they witnessed the INJUSTICE that had just been carried out?

It did not take Abey very long to locate his cousins at the Slytherin table - though, every second had stretched out and felt like it had lasted hours and days and weeks and months and years actually - but of course, he did. Abey had a whole lifetime of wandering off and getting lost in crowds and having to search for his family again.

There was one on either side of the table, which meant that Abey didn't have to switch sides or anything. He ran up to them - still crying his poor little Hufflepuff Gryffindor heart out, tears streaming down his cheeks - and forced his way into a spot at their table, next to Rula, opposite Junia.

"The h-h-hat was m-m-mean to me!" he blubbered, gulping down great huge big breaths but not calming down in the slightest. "I'm n-not a Gryffind-dor! I... w-wanna go... h-hooooome."

With that, Abey clung tight to Rula and began sobbing dramatically into her robes.

Cal summoned a smile when his head girl girlfriend sit down next to him and happily kissed her back. "I haven't seen Vincent yet. Was hoping you could tell me where to find him." Honestly, he hasn't seen him all summer either. Where could have his true love gone?

His guys glanced over her shoulder. "You should go back to greeting the kids, babe." He nudged her. "Put on that Head Girl smile."

Brent seemed excited to know who their new headmistress here. James just shrugged,"I think so." Ah...his parents made him. "Yeah, it was the same for me too. My mom had a new job here so we all had to move, I suppose." He couldn't leave his mom alone in a foreign country. He was all she had in this world right now after his dad gone. So, James had no choice really but to follow wherever she goes.

James couldn't help but smirk at Nat's reply. "All the attention, huh? That's big." He chuckled. Hold on? Little??? Narrowing his eyes, "Oh really? Little fifth years? How short do you think we are?" James scoffed. He was positive somehow her new title must have gone over her head. He couldn't blame her though, he would definitely take advantage of it if he was in her shoes. "Who's Kelly?"

His attention diverted to a girl he met during his tour of Diagon Alley, instantly his lips turned into a grin. Totally exposing his small dimples on his cheeks for her to see. As much as he 'love'... continue talking to his new housemates this Hufflepuff girl caught his attention, the moment she walked right up to his table. "Hey Kat, yeah thanks. Glad to see you here, how are you?" he asked.

’How’s it going?’ The question hadn’t gone over Elle’s head, as Oliver had asked her, but she was beginning to wonder if everyone’s summers had gone infinitely better than hers had. Than most of hers ever had, actually. But then, he might not be asking about that anyhow, as he’d seemed almost surprised she’d said hello to her. She wasn’t about to ask. “It’s going well. A lot of new faces up at the staff table, apparently,” she replied. It was just an observation, and given the announcement at the end of last term it wasn’t a particularly surprising one. She just figured it worked as a topic that wasn’t how dull her summer had been.

But first she’d had to deal with Colt asking about that very thing. Not to mention he’d chosen to sit right next to her, which only brought on the awkwardness. “My summer? It was quiet.” Really nothing to talk about. It could have been worse, since Ashe was infinitely easier to handle than Avalon was, but still, nothing had happened. “What on earth would there be that you should be jealous about?”

Aside from her hedgehog, she figured she was likely the least exciting seventh year Slytherin girl ever. The least interesting anyway, but then given she generally only compared herself to Nat and Kelly it wasn’t surprising. Speaking of Nat… “How would we make up for it?,” she asked with wide eyes. She usually stayed away from ruckus after all. Hopefully Nat just meant things like maybe another band concert or something. Either that or another dorm party.

Speaking of their dorm, she waved at Echo as the girl had joined the table. She chose not to say anything as it seemed she was speaking with Dora, but at least another dormmate was there now. Maybe she could stop feeling so awkward.
