SEMINAR 1: Yeti Challenge :: The Abominable Snow Run
An hour and a half after the school's lunch break, Healer Reed who was decked in his full winter gear paced back and forth at the Entrance Hall with his hands tucked behind him as he waited for the students to arrive. As he reviewed the activity in his mind, he could not help but grin once in a while, thinking that he never imagined that he will be back in Hogwarts to teach, and execute health and wellness activities.
While the man paced back and forth, Roscoe and Bumi, his Newfoundland dogs sat directly in front of the colossal doors and watched their master, waiting for his command. Both are wearing their scarves and first aide jackets, ready to take part in the activity.
If you’re here for the Yeti Challenge, come on down in your full winter gear and wait along with the others. We will start the activity shortly.
OOC: Welcome to the first Healer’s Health and Wellness Program! Post your charries joining Healer Reed and we will start in approximately 12-24 Hours from this post. Please read our RULES, before posting. Thank you!
GIANT SNOW STAIRS: Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch. The run towards the first obstacle isn’t an easy one. The snow on the ground is quite thick, burying your feet, ankle deep! But just a few metres ahead, you see giant snowballs piled up one after another, making it a decent snow mound. Climb it and go on to your next challenge;
INTO THE YETI’S HOLE!: Ahead are four rows of low triangular trusses, each stretching about 4 meters in length. Get on all fours and crawl your way through to the other end!;
GET A SNOW TUBE AND DRAG UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE: To get to the next course, you have to drag a miniature Christmas tree up a smaller mound! Trust me on this. You need the extra altitude!
SLIP AND SLIDE SNOW TUBING!: Fasten your Christmas Trees, ride the snow tube, and slide your way down to the starting point! A 500 meter snow slide should be enough to keep the blood pumping!
TEA AND COCOA!: Once you reach the end, you will see that a table has been set up for you to take you pick: TEA or HOT CHOCOLOATE? Oh and there’s a couple of zinc lozenges too. Best to get a few if you feel like you’re going to have a cold!
Turned out this girl wasn't just a pretty face with lots of stamina! He APPROVED once again.
He was paying attention to try and guess what song she was whistling, but it sounded truly random - which he loved - and it helped him not feel like that had been a loooonnnggg crawl. He felt like he was soon out on the other side.
And yet again she was quicker than him. Lazy bum?? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Merliiinn, this girl was getting better and better! That was MENTAL! "I'm getting there! Calm yourself down, fuzzball!" He laughed, but he didn't REALLY mean it. HE wasn't calm down when the task was to RUUUUUNNN from snow yetis and he didn't want her to calm down either.
Once he was out, he approached her and the... "What with the Christmas trees??" Like, they were in the middle of a RUUUNNN, why bother with some Christmas trees, wut? Could that even be called an obstacle? But HE DIDN'T CARE!
SNOW TUBE, AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! "Man, this is AWESOME!!! Best Hogwarts task EVER!!" He didn't want to wait any longer to slide down, so as soon as he had a Christmas tree (????) with him, he grabbed a snow tube and gestured with his head for Miss Carden to follow him. And he was RUSHING, alright! "By the way..." He started between taking a few short breaths as he jogged up the next mound of snow. "What's your name, Miss Carden?" Because yeah, he only knew that bit.
Daisy openly laughed at his reply to her heckling and watched with close eyes as he approached her. Yes, she wasn't really tired but still, it was good to take some time to rest and gather her breath. She knew she would PWN this thing, anyway. Look, her Dad was a retired Quidditch player. Daisy herself played Quidditch on the team when she was on break, in the junior categories. She had THREE younger siblings which meant a lot of running around after them.
ALSO ... did anyone notice how much candy she ate this morning?!
That's right!
"Because it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!" Daisy sang in reply to his question. DUH. Christmas trees made PERFECT sense to her because this was all snowy and they were getting hot cocoa in the end SO YAY CHRISTMAS!
She had been distracted again, daydreaming about Christmas, when Matt's voice brought her back to Earth and the task at hand. HEY! He was gone already!! The Slytherin quickly grabbed a firm hold on her snow tube containing the Christmas tree and dashed after the Gryffindor. "This is DEFINITELY the best thing I've ever done here!!" She replied enthusiastically at his words and started going up the mount, pulling the tube with her.
OH. HAHAHAHA. Thank Merlin this one was smaller than the other one.
RIGHT. Focus, then. Focus on the breathing and on the steps and on pulling that snow tube up. She really hoped she didn't let it go because it appeared some firsties came after her so .... EEEEEK. Also, she had thought she had told Matt her name. OOPS. Apparently, not. "The name is Daisy, by the way." She told Matt with a grin as she took a few deep breaths. Almost there. They could totally win this.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Kay was ready to get a move on once more. This time she would not be beaten by the snow. She worked out a good deal to be taken down by snow. She trudged off once again. Looking behind her just to see who was close by, she saw… a snow monster! Yeti! “No, silly,’’ she said with a chuckle to herself. “Just an animated one but you shouldn’t let it catch you.’’ Where would the fun be in that? She increased her pace. Luckily, she was able to make it through the thick snow.
The professor dived into the nearest hole and began making her way through it. She doubted the yeti would follow her. She had no issue maneuvering through even on all fours. A few minutes later, she was out. Grinning, she sprang to her feet then turned around.
No yeti there.
Now she would move onto the next part of the course.
Etta couldn't believe her eyes when she saw snow YETIS.... SNOW YETIS. Oh, oh. She took a deep breath, definitely not looking forward to running in the snow. The girl turned to look at the YETIS once again before she took a deep breath and started to run! And it was just as difficult as she'd thought.
The girl moved as fast as she could but it really took a lot out of her. She felt her feet sinking deep inside the snow with each step... OH YES. She could see the mound. Etta reached it within a few months and swiftly climbed up the mound. She reached the top and just... took a few seconds to recover.
OHWAIT. Etta's eyes widened when she turned to see the advancing YETIS and quickly ran, or rather tried to run, to face her next challenge.

The Seventh year got his bearings quickly as he looked around , he tromped through the snow in order to get to the snow tubes and mini Christmas Trees.
He really had to hand it to Healer Reed; this was a fantastically laid out course and brilliantly engineered! Even though Leon was in good physical condition, this course wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. The snow added quite the layer of difficulty!
The dark haired boy grabbed a snow tube and a small Christmas tree and started to walk up the snowy mound in front of him.
He crunched through the snow, breathing a bit heavily as he lugged the tube and the tree behind him.
He focuses on keeping his breathing even as he moved up the hill, taking deep but slow breaths as his muscles exerted themselves. His legs were burning ever so slightly as he kept going up the mound..
Etta continued running, already feeling a little bit exhausted at this point. But hey, she wasn't feeling that cold anymore. Which was a good thing. She stopped for a moment, needing a quick break, gave the yetis a swift look and continued. She knew they weren't actually scary but it was still kind of exciting. Kind of. Except for the running part.
The girl quickly got down on her knees and started crawling through the trusses, as fast as she could. And... it actually wasn't all that bad. Pretty soon, she'd managed to crawl her way out, got up and took a couple of deep breaths, before taking off again. This was way too tiring, uuuugh.

Skylar had been distracted as the Healer spoke, mostly because of the warmth she felt despite being out in the cold. She could clearly visualize the healer's office and the scents of medical supplies and it just spread warmth throughout the thirteen year old's body that she couldn't explain. What else should be in her arsenal as a witch or wizard? You. That was what Skylar wanted to say, because Healer Reed was so gentle and intelligent and well, if injured, why SHOULDN'T they have an intelligent and good-looking healer in their treasure trove? But Skylar remained silent, as she stretched her arms across her chest and then behind her back. Other activities besides running to improve one's endurance. Eating right, yes. Obviously. Stretching, as they were doing now. But again, she remained quiet, listening to her peers speak up as she did some lunges to stretch her legs out.
And it was time for the challenge, which truthfully didn't seem ALL too difficult, but she was relatively athletic with a moderate stamina, so yea.
Running towards the first obstacle, Skylar found herself grateful she hadn't worn much in the way of layers. Because despite the thick snow covering the ground, she found herself able to spring up and propel forward much more lightly and easily then had she been wearing heavier attire. Never mind the fact that her socks were going to be soaked; she would worry about that at finish. For now, her eyes were on the prize of completing the challenge. Crunch, crunch, crunch.... the sound of her feet making contact with snow as she continued towards the giant snowball mounds, to which she climbed up and over onto her next challenge....

Etta mentally decided to go for a run every single day from now on because really, this activity made her realise, that she wasn't fit at all. She continued running for a bit before she came across the next activity. The girl picked up the snow tube and the Christmas tree, paused for another breather and started to drag them up the mound, trying to increase her pace.
..... She felt like she'd been climbing forever. After a few moments though, she REALLY wanted to just collapse... and felt like her legs couldn't take it anymore.. but no. She had to finish this challenge properly. C'mon Etta, she muttered softly to herself and continued climbing. And she was almost there! FINALLY.

Continuing her mini warm up, Rosalyn listened as River explained the course, sharing occasional glances with Gaston. Okay, this sounded like a good obstacle course; not easy, but not overly difficult either. It was good to get the exercise in even if she wasn't exactly out of shape.
Immediately her mind jumped to partnering with Gaston, but on second thought it would be better to work on her own in case the students needed help. Of course the opposite was entirely possible as well, all joking aside. Besides, if nothing else this would challenge her, though honestly she didn't care about winning. Beyond the fact that she wasn't competitive by nature, it was just right to let the students come in first. That is why she didn't even start until most of them had already made some progress.
The snow was rather deep, so Rosalyn had some trouble trekking through it; a few times she felt like she was going to stumble and fall the same way that Kay had. Fortunately her friend had managed to get back on her feet before one of the yetis could get her. Speaking of yetis, she needed to pick up her pace a little so that SHE didn't end up being grabbed!
Trudge! Trudge! Trudge!
What a relief when she reached the snowball mounds, though running through snow was tiring. If only she could take a break, but Rosalyn knew that couldn't happen until she finished the course.

Oh oh oh oh lookitdat snow obstacle course! He wasnt much of a fan of the cold but oh boy oh boy oh boy he couldnt wait to play in this one!
As the Healer marked the start, Tenacius leaped into the deep snow which immediately rose up well past his calfs. Haha he could play here all day, but people were moving forward and he followed suit, wobble-stomping as fast as he could (which isnt fast at all) as he made his way towards the snow mound.
When he finally got there... he was panting. Whoah, is he out of breath already? Maybe he does need a bit more exercise... or maybe hes actually more playing than exercising. But yes snow mound to rise over. Lets gooo...
Climb climb climb.... Oh hey this is a nice view, he could throw snowballs from here! And so he attempts, scooping up a handful and started balling it up when--
-- something grabs his hand....

"Leggo leggo leggo leggo!!!" he hollered at the animated snow beast as he yanked his arm away-- a little too strongly it seems-- and he ended up toppling down the snow mound.... flop flop flop flop stop.

The boy must've noticed that he doesn't stutter when he's excited. Surely, there is intent and determination behind his answers...which made River smile. "Correct! What is stamina without the proper diet, yes?" And beets? Beets are good! Derf must be a fan!
Again...master of what? Derf was curious and wanted to ask but his response was being address and...eeeeeeer...clearly this man had never seen him try and cast a spell before...because it was a disaster for the most part. Even Professor Hirsch had said that "we" needed to work on his stutter and what not.
He had plenty of intent...but clearly that wasn't enough, you know? Good intentions didn't always mean success. There was a famous quote or something about that somewhere...but he couldn't think of it at the moment.
SPOILER!!: Healer man again

If you think you can't go on while in the middle of the course, you are more than welcome to stop and drop the challenge altogether, or pause to take a breather." River moved near the door, and Roscoe and Bumi stood beside him. "You too have a choice to run solo, or with a friend. Don't be afraid to engage our professors as well...I'd like to bet that they will be needing your help to get through the obstacles." he said grinning mischievously at the adults in the room. "Just kidding." he said waving a hand to his colleagues. "Joking aside, I will be monitoring your progress...Bumi and Roscoe will run with you since they need to get some exercise as well." he said as he donned his winter gloves and wore his beanie on. "Alright ladies and gentlemen, let's head out!" River turned his back towards the group and herded them towards the obstacle course he had set up that morning.

"Welcome to the Yeti Challenge! This is going to be your starting point, and you will all go through the obstacles starting from your left," Because that's how British people do it. Everything on the left, everything in reverse. "And go through the obstacle course in an anti-clockwise direction." he said gesturing to his right. "The first obstacle would be a mound of snow, this will test your leg strength and proper breathing. The second one is the Yeti's Hole, and you have to be in all fours to get through the obstacle. Once you're done with the second task, you have to get a snow tube and one miniature pine tree...drag those two up a small mound, and snow tube your way down back here." It did look like an easy task, but considering the long distances in between obstacle courses, it should prove challenging. "Again, I will be around to watch you. If you need my help, or someone is in need of help, shout out my name...or Bumi's or Roscoe's. They will summon me back to you." They are the coolest rescue and service dogs around, did they know?
As the students assembled at the starting point, a grumbling sound was heard. A few meters behind them, large snow mounds began to form into...yep. Snow Yetis. "Uh-oh...you better start running. You have two hours to complete the course. Good luck every one!" River's eyes twinkled in excitement as he put his wand against his throat. "YETI...set...GO!"
OOC:
A YETI?! - YES! Well, not really a real Yeti, but an animated Snow Yeti will be running after you. Feel free to include them in your RP's.
ROSCOE AND BUMI - You can include the dogs in your RP, (running with you, helping you, tugging you along once you fall flat on your face), as long as there is no harm done to the dogs. They are massive, each weighing 120lbs, and NO you cannot ride on them. That's cheating.
FOUR POSTS MINIMUM - To get full points for this activity, I will be needing a minimum of four (4) LABELED posts. It doesn't matter if you complete the course or not, as long as you get those four posts in. HOWEVER, if you complete the course within the time given, there will be an additional incentive waiting for you in your Points Table.
GO SOLO or WITH A FRIEND - You may RP the activity with a friend or group of friends as long as the four posts needed are done individually.
TIME - You all have 48 hours to complete this task (01 February 2017, 4:00 AM GMT)
NEED HELP? - If you have any questions, please feel free to PM or VM me, or if it is In-Character, please include River's name in the Title Bar of your post.
Okay...but did anyone else see the yetis?! That little bit of magic used to make them was super neat and the Hufflepuff REALLY wanted to learn it. Although there was some clear disappointment on his face at the fact that these were, in fact, not real yetis...but they hadn't actually been trained on how to deal with the creatures properly so he supposed that was for the best.
BUT STILL!
Running in the snow was kind of exhausting in and of itself, but he was managing alright all the way up to the mound of snow which was hard for his shorter legs to manage...so rather than WALK up the mound of snow Derf decided to crawl up it. And since he had neglected to put any mittens on, well, now his hands were red and burning from the cold. The Hufflepuff was halfway up the snow mound when all of a sudden he felt an immense amount of pressure suddenly thrust him down INTO the mound of snow as one of the snow yetis had caught up with him and performed what Derf liked to imagine must have been a canon ball move on top of him.
Hopefully no one would walk on him as he tried to make his way out under the pile of snow?
Merlin it was COLD.

In an odd way, being on top of the snow mound provided a good view of the course. Not only that, but as Elle paused at the top for a moment, she saw the magical yetis that were set after them. It felt very strategic being up there, but as others passed her by she realized she couldn’t stay up there forever. Besides, she didn’t think the snow mound would hold up for long given all the traffic. She definitely didn’t want to end up inadvertently buried under a pile of snow, so she carefully scrambled back down the opposite side from where she’d ascended only to find the four troughs laid out in front of her.
Tightening the scarf around her ears, Elle dropped to her knees and began crawling through the nearest yeti hole, flattening herself even more to nearly army crawl through the tunnel. Aside from the snow, she felt an awful lot like her pet hedgehog crawling through small spaces. Especially as it seemed like the tunnel was lasting forever, getting longer the further she crawled.
She doubted there were spells cast on the tunnels to make them seem endless, but she was still entirely too happy when she’d finally reached the end and was able to scramble back to her feet and shake off the snow that had clung to her while she’d crawled. At least, the snow that hadn’t melted from the heating charms she’d cast on herself. Now off to the next obstacle, along with avoiding the yetis who were still threatening to catch up.

Finally Leon gained the top of the hill and he looked around for a moment, he could see all sorts of people in various stages of the course. So far it looked like most everyone was making it and he smiled and nodded.
Since no one seemed to need his help he settled the tube at the top of the hill and looked down.. this was going to be fun! The seventh year held onto his mini tree as he settled into his snow tube and then he pushed off andddddd
WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
The boy was laughing like a first year as he slid down the hill in his tube! He hadn't gone sledding or tubing in forever and he made a mental note to owl his parents about going over the Holidays!
Leon kept up his giggling as he leaned side to side, making sure to keep the tube on track. The tree in his lap made things a bit harder but he was still able to manage! Finally! He skidded to a stop and rolled off into the snow! He landed face first in a bit of a tiny drift! Ack!!
He pushed himself slowly upwards, and spit the snow out of his mouth and then started to ineffectivly wipe at his snow covered face with his snow covered gloves!
He finally peeled off his gloves and his hat as he headed towards the end of the course..

Trudge and pull. Trudge and pull. Trudge and pull. She could do this! She was nearly there. Trudge and pull! She was actually finding this a little difficult, but she could do it. She was nearly there. Come on Paton! You can do it. She took a deep breath, and pulled a little harder on the tube, and the tree, hoping to get up there as soon as possible. Then she could have a little rest maybe? Though she didn't want to rest too much, because she didn't want the yeti to get her! So maybe not too much resting.
and she was there! Yay! Hattie sighed, dropping the tube and tree onto the floor. Oh wow. That had been hard. She sighed, taking a few deep breaths to try and recover before the next section. She wanted to be proper recovered, so that she wouldn't like die or something. Clearly she did need to work on her stamina a little, but she was nearly done now! And that was great! She was doing herself proud. She was really excited for the next bit too. It was going to be so cool, to slide down the snow mounds!
But first she needed to tie her tree to her tube. She crouched down, and quickly tied it to her snow tube, so that it wouldn't come off. That would make all of her hard work pulling it up the snow mound hard. When she was satisfied that it was done well, she positioned her tube by the slide, and then got in. Pushing herself off, she started to slide down the snow tube.
"Woooohooooooo!
This was obviously the best bit.

He looked up at the older student and recognized her from class. She seemed all knowing and smart. Yes. He wanted to run with her definitely. Then she could carry him if his legs gave up on him. Piggy back ride?
"YES!" Carlton exclaimed, resisting the urge to jump on her back. Maybe that was against the rules. And he didn't really know this person. Maybe that was not only against the seminar rules but also social rules. So he stayed put and glanced down at the tunnels. HORRIFYING.
"Okidoks, let's crawl." He got down on his hands and knees and went into the same tunnel as the older Gryffindor girl. So the tunnels weren't very long but it felt like they could stretch out forever so, just in case there was some magic in the air, he grabbed a hold of her foot.
"Don't leave me here in the Yeti-home!" He called to her. "'Cause I got your foot." It is now his. And he proceeded to crawl through the tunnel but NOT loosening his grip on her foot. She was his way to safety, he would not give that up.
You know what was HARDER than climbing up a snow mound? Crawling through snow with a firstie grabbing your foot. Char didn't mind so much though, and had abruptly decided to just go ahead and enjoy the DRAMA of the situation - they were being chased by YETIS after all, even if they were just made of charmed snow!
"I won't leave you!" Charlotte hollered over her shoulder as she shuffle-crawled through the triangular tunnel. "Even if my foot freezes off!"
But for the record she REALLY didn't want to lose a foot if she could help it. She could feel the pull on her foot every time she moved it in that butt-wiggling crawl that really wasn't super comfy on the knees. Even if she was in her winter gear, it sort of seeped through when you were putting weight on the parts that usually you didn't put on the ground.
Not much further to go! Another metre maybe! Not so bad really, she'd sort of expected, at first hearing the obstacles, that it'd be four tunnels to crawl through, not four tunnels next to each other of which you only needed to crawl through one. And there was light at the end of the snow!tunnel! She scooted out of it, her foot apparently attached to a first year, freeing of the tunnel too, and then stood up, grabbing the kid's hand instead. "Come on! Lets get tubes and trees!"
Charlotte pointed at the pile of each and then hurried over there. Soooo they had to drag a tree AND a tube up the next mound?
"Want to share a tube? It will be easier!" For him, not for her, probably. But she didn't mind this either.

Thankfully no one did step on him and thus the first year was able to escape the mound of snow by digging his way out. TADA! While surely not what the Healer had imagined them doing, but he had always been a little bit out of the box anyway sooooooooooo the important thing was that he HAD cleared the obstacle. Even if he was now covered in snow and his hands were like icicles. Or more like his fingers were icicles.
Anywaaaaaaay...
Looking ahead and seeing that the next obstacle was a series of tunnels, the Hufflepuff decided that would just stay on all fours and keep crawling. So...crawling he went...and perhaps a little TOO eagerly it seemed as his crawling efforts propelled him forward and riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight SMACK into the bum of someone else.
No, he was not like Roscoe and Bumi and did not say hello to others by means of sniffing butts or anything. It was a complete accident!
"S-S-Sorry!"
So...guess it was time to slow down just a little then.

Camilla was silent the entire time the instructions were given. Taking the course with a partner or going it alone both had their own set of advantages. Being a professor though she choose to go about it alone...for now. Should anyone need her assistance along the way she would be there to lend a hand.
The challenge started and without a moments notice or much thought Cami started forward. Her steps began as a slow tentative walk testing out the snow only to find that instantly her feet crunched through it, boot sinking all the way down. Oh geez. This wasn't going to be an easy run. Rather then be upset she grinned to herself. Tugging her boot clad foot free of the snow she continued forward picking up the pace as best she could with each step until she was at something of a slow jog.
What was that noise behind her? Probably just a student or one of her fellow coworkers. Only it didn't sound that way...it sounded...larger. Turning to glance over her shoulder Cami came nearly face to face with a YETI?! What in th-
Trying not to scream out in surprise or even laugh the women picked up the pace a little more. Trudge trudge...crunch crunch.
Finally after what seemed like forever trudging through the deep snow she made it to the large snowball steps. Odd yes but fun. A small laugh escaped her lips as she made her way up these large snowballs using her hands to help pull herself up when needed. By the time she reached the top her breathing was picking up a little bit but that's what a good workout did!

After spending a few moments looking over all the snowball mounds she could see, Rosalyn was ready to start climbing. At least she had gotten away from the animated yetis, but she liked to pretend that they were real to add to the challenge and fun. Maybe it was weird, but she didn't care. This was the yeti challenge after all. What an apt name.
...
Okaaaaaaay, she had this.
Slowly Rosalyn started to climb up the snowball steps, using her hands to pull herself up as needed. When she felt more confident that she wasn't going to fall off, she began to increase her speed though not TOO much. Really she was not the most clumsy person in the world though she did have her moments. It was not the easiest thing to move in this winter get up, but at least she was having fun and getting exercise without freezing.
By the time she had reached the top, her breath was pretty rapid, but that was a good thing because it meant she was getting a great work out. Plus it seemed that there would be no more climbing involved which was nice because that had been enough.

Oooh.
This was fun. Hattie was having a great time sliding down the snow mound. She had to do a little bit of tilting, just to make sure that she stayed on track. She just did not want to be falling out of the tube. Though that would have been really fun. It would probably also be really cold. So saying in the tube was a must. Her hands clung on tight on to the edges of the tube, her knuckles going a little white. She didn't want fall out.
And then she was done. She was at the end of the obstacle course. She was kind of glad because she was really tired. "Yaaay I did it" Hattie beamed, as she got herself out of her tube tree thing, and moved it out of the way. She didn't want people to fall over the tube.
And. She saw hot coco on the table! Perfect! That would warm her right up. She made a bee line for that table, and got herself a cup of coco. Much bettter! And now she was feeling a little warmer. Yay!

Straight up ahead were what looked like some type of triangular crawling spaces. Definitely not large enough for her to stand and trudge through! Which only meant one thing...
Cami dropped down onto her hands and knees right at the mouth of the first Yeti hole. She felt like a young child again crawling and playing in the snow! Crawling forward through the tunnel wasn't all to tough but when it's added to crawling through snow after running from yeti's in deep snow and up snowball steps it became harder. It took some time and she had to keep her head down making sure she didn't bang it.
By the time she made it through the end of the last tunnel she was glad to be up on her feet again. Crawling was not on her list of daily activities! It was getting her heart bumping though. Stretching her arms above her head and brushing some snow off her snow clothes Cami glanced around quickly as she took a moments pause.
Surveying the area once more her light brown eyes landed on the snow tubes and...were those baby Christmas trees? Seriously River? Cami laughed jogging towards the snow tubes and grabbing one for herself. Pushing this up that there snow mound would be annoying but not undoable. Dragging a tree along as well would be tougher.
Cami looked back and forth between the tube and the tree a couple of times. That pot would probably fit inside the hole in the center of the tube...
YES!
That was the perfect idea. Cami nodded to herself. Picking up the pot in both arms she hoisted it into the center of the snow tube. It didn't fit perfectly and sort of tilted to the side a bit put it would get the job done. Now just to get the thing up that snow hill...
Positioning herself behind the snow tube/tree Cami set her hands on the tube and began the task of pushing/shoving it up the hill. This was no joke and even for someone that was decently fit and exercised daily it was tasking.

Smiling, Rosalyn dusted her clothes off, partly to clean the snow off and partly to give herself a moment to catch her breath. In a moment she was ready to continue, making her way towards the next challenge at a decent pace without exhausting herself; it was important not to use up more energy than needed since there were other tests coming up.
Judging by the trusses that popped into view, the next one required crawling. Well, she was going to be covered in snow again, but Rosalyn had expected that; kind of hard to avoid the stuff when out in it. No matter because she was having a lot of fun right now.
Reaching the first truss, she got down on all fours and began making her way through while making sure not to bang her head. Tunnels weren't the hardest things to crawl through, but the snow added some difficulty. No matter, because it didn't take too long for Rosalyn to be clear of that part - at least in the sense that she could see the opening just ahead. Soon she would be heading to the next part of the course and she was eager to see what River had in store for them; surely he would not disappoint, she thought as she made her way outside and back to the open air.
As soon as the mini Christmas trees popped into view she started laughing. Leave it to River to give them something like this, for she didn't need to see the snow tubes to know what was required. Rosalyn shook her head in amusement. It wasn't going to be the easiest thing getting a tree up a mound - even if it was a small one. Still it could be done, easily at that once she picked up momentum.
The best way to go about the task was obviously placing the mini tree into the hole, so she set about doing that as carefully as possible so as not to knock off half the branches and needles. There. It wasn't a snug fit, but at least the tree should be secure enough so as to not fall off and back down the slope. Sure of herself, she began the slow work of pushing the snow tube upwards, doing her best to pick up momentum.
#4 - feel free to be hit/bumped into if ya want, heh!
Arts TRANSPONSTER!
"Fair enough!" Matt said regarding the 'it's begining to look a lot like Christmas' remark, shrugging his shoulder. STILL, what an odd 'obstacle'. The Slytherin seemed excited about it, so he'd leave it at that!
See, she agreed with him about that being the best thing eveeeeeeeeerrrrrr to happen at Hogwarts. How FUN a RUN in the snow, actually running away from 'yetis'! And they would be getting POINTS for that!!! HAH! BRILLIANT!
Daisy! "Nice name!" He was bound to say that ANYWAY. "It suits you." The Gryffindor added, his hair being blown into his eyes as he turned to give her a cheeky grin once again. He faced foward again so he could SEE. And he did aaaaaaall this without STOPPING because he wanted to get to the finish line ALREADY!
As he reached the top of the rather small mound - it should've been the TALLEST one, alright. Now THAT would've been amazing! - he spun the arm with which he was holding the tube so that the object was flung in front of him. "See ya at the finish line!" He exclaimed to Daisy and without further ado, he JUMPED into the thing, tree and all, as it started to move down without him and then sliiidddddddd awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay holding his arms UP! "YAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"
Did he have to try and avoid bumping into people? ...Probably, but was Matt going to do it?

Up and over the snow stairs Skylar went, feeling very determined but also felt behind which had its advantages in that peers before her were facing the challenges first and matting things down for her. Running along, she frowned at the low trusses which only meant one thing... she'd have to kneel to get through them.
Crouching down, the thirteen year old wriggled on all fours crawling her way through the other end. Clothing was definitely soaked now which meant she'd have to change shortly after finishing up the course, because she was finally starting to get cold.
Wriggle, wriggle, wriggle.
Finally making it through the last of the trusses, Skylar was grateful to have been done with the crouching low part and hoped what was up next wouldn't be anything like that part.

Okay, she didn't receive any medals on the spot for helping her professor, but it was still a nice thing to do. Especially if she'd hurt her... teeth? Sinead wasn't sure how that worked, and may have stuck around to find out- except she became aware of a crunching noise behind her, like something heavy treading on snow.
Turns out, it was something heavy treading on snow. A snow yeti, to be precise. Okay, she hadn't thought the danger would seem this literal. Her eyes popped for a moment and she turned back to smile briefly and awkwardly at the professor.
"You're welcome hope you feel better soon," she gabbled, before running in the opposite direction at top speed. The one advantage to being right at the back was that everyone in front of her had tamped down the snow nicely, and she hopped along in their footsteps, making pretty decent time over to the snow mound.
That didn't go down quite so easily. She couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed that she was struggling to get up the hill- well, but it was pretty steep, wasn't it? Looking around, everyone else seemed to be having some trouble too, which made her feel slightly better.
Despite this, she was still the last over the mound and by the time she reached the tunnel she seemed to be pretty much alone again, except for a yeti she could see blundering vaguely in her direction. It was still a bit of a way off- and good thing too, she didn't want to find out what happened if they caught her- but she wasn't about to chance anything. Probably best to get a move on. The tunnel looked like her kind of obstacle, anyway, apart from the fact that she had to crawl to get through it. (Ew.) Being small was kind of annoying a lot of the time, but it paid off here, as she fit with plenty of breathing space and began a nice steady pace through the narrow passage.

ALRIGHT, this was fun. But LOOK, Daisy was getting tired, alright? Her steps weren't as steady as they had been and her breath was coming in short puffs. She was SOOOO close, though, so there was NO WAY she was giving in and the Slytherin girl tugged the snow tube further up.
She was NOT giving up in front of Matt. Slytherins did not give in next to Gryffindors. HMPF.
Also, he seemed the type to probably mock her senselessly. Even if he liked her name.
OOOOOH, and he was up there already! With a renewed feeling of ... well, stubborness, the fifth year dragged herself, the snow tube AND the Christmas tree up towards the top of the mount and laid there on the snow for a while. YES, SHE WAS HERE!! SHE HAD MADE IT. ..... aaaaand Matt was already gone! "GO GO MAAAAAATTTTT!!!" She yelled from the top of the snow, watching as her new friend slid down the mount towards the starting line.
Okay. Get it together. She had rested enough and it was definitely time to go.
Jumping into the snow tube, Daisy sliiiiiiiiid dowwwwn, waaaaaaaaay down the mount of crushed snow, doing her best to avoid hitting people. But well, part of her was also not bothering that much.
