What an upside down term this had been.

It had started off promising, what with her newfound passion for Muggle rights that she had been looking forward to bring to school, and her visit to the new awesome headmistress. But things took a turn for the worst very quickly. First, there was that debate in History of Magic about Salathar Slytherin - in which she'd managed to alienate almost all the Slytherins, one of whom was her "boss" head girl, Natalia. She'd stormed out of class and gotten a detention, but the worst part of that experience was feeling hated by her classmates.

Then there was the portal. No need to dwell on that. Those memories were still too terrifying and exhausting. Exhausting because of how much extra patrolling and escorting she'd done, and terrifying because of the near death experience they'd all had with the monster in the portal.

She slowly reached her finger tips to her face and gently stroked it. It was a strange habit she'd picked up after having been scratched by the monster. There were no scars, magic had healed her face completely.

Cassie had to admit, as she stepped into the Great Hall for the closing feast, there was a decent amount of her that was glad and ready for the end of term. It had certainly been a dousey with a lot of stuff she’d rather not think about, or relieve thank you very much. Nope…the fourth year would focus on just the good things as much as she could manage. Like further avoidance of certain poltergeists…even if they managed to help save the day in the end. And the fact that everyone was safe and sound on the right side of the portal and away from the thing that shouldn’t be named or thought of.

Shiver.

Grayson…Juliette…Hirsch…Olivia…Levi.

Family, friends and professors were all out of danger. With that thought in mind, Cass urged herself further into the expansive room, following the smells of the kitchens and the sights and sounds of a Great Hall just starting to fill with occupants. As she reached the familiar table, she took a quick glance around for familiar faces both there and around the hall before settling into a seat with a sigh of relief.

It seemed that out of everyone's behaviour, Mason was the only one, or so far that he had noticed, who hadn't seen even a glimpse of this *terrible monster*Just students being scared.

And now he couldn't exactly ask what the monster had looked liked without touching a sensitive snare of someone.

Still, no matter how much he wanted to know, the Ravenclaw kept his mouth wisely shut and sat at the House table for the end of term feast. He liked school but even he needed a break from all that learning. He had vowed to himself to spend more time with his family this summer instead of locking himself up in his room reading books.

Now, Headmistress, do your thing. He was hungry.

Leon enetered the great hall with a bit of trepidation. This was his last feast here and the seventh year was feeling a wave of nostalgia as he looked around the room.. He remembered entering this hall as a little firstie, wondering what house he would be in, if he wooiks make any friends, and what he was going to do with life..

Now, he was a big old seventh year, with friends, the best girlfriend in the world, even a sister! And he had already applied to be a YATI!

His life was starting.. and it seemed to have begun right here.

He sighed softly as he slid into a seat at the feast, and looked around at the students who were already seated there. "Hello Kitty, Cassie, Mason.. How are all of you? " The grey eyed boy asked with a warm smile as he looked at his fellow housemates..

After organising his belongings into things he would need at camp and those he would only need for studying at home, Rooney figured it was in his best interests to join the end of year feast. First off, he was more hungry now that his appetite was coming back. Secondly, he wanted to get in his daily glimpse of the love of his life. And third, he needed to get out of his dorm and say goodbye to his sixth year at the castle. Finally. New notebook already in his waistband, the Ravenclaw entered the Great Hall and looked immediately to the Gryffindor table for his Liv. He smiled fondly at seeing her with Carlton and proceeded ahead to his own house table.

Passing by the first person he saw, Rooney planted a kiss on top of Kitty's head and gave her a smile. She knew he was there for her and he had been every day since everything had happened with the monster for her. Maybe now she understood why he had been so shook up after his own encounter and would finally acknowledge that it had been rude of her to barrage him with questions about it when he quite clearly did not want to be involved in such a conversation. Nevertheless, his co-prefect was one of the only people Roo trusted in this here castle. "Eat up when food's here, Kits. Then you can go back to your dorm if you want. I can handle stuff here." She had handled enough for him when he had been both missing and in the hospital wing.

His gaze fell to his dorm mate nearby (Mason) and then Miss Cassie and gave them both a smile. No time for big conversations, he moved on again to find a seat for himself but only after he offered a hand for Leon to shake and also a smile. "It's been a pleasure, Leon." There was only a year between the two boys and so they had been through a lot of their education together, what with being in the same house and area of dorms. Roo wished only the best for the other boy and expected that he would get nothing less than that.

Her physical wounds were healed and the magic was too good to leave scars behind, but her face still troubled her physiologically. It was why everyday since the event, she'd traced her fingers softly over where the monster had cut her, and why she was she applied makeup more gently than she used to. It was also why she glanced at every mirror she passed in paranoia, almost as if she expected the wounds to come back in the shape of scars - although she knew that was impossible. Hopefully this would all end over the summer vacation.

In this troubled state, she hadn't bothered to try greeting anyone of her own initiative, but there were still some people she wanted to talk to before the term was over. Leon was one of them, since he was graduating and she wouldn't see him next year. "Hey Leon," she greeted him with a weary but sincere smile. "I'm...doing better, I think." And she knew he knew what she was referring to. "We're really going to miss you," she told him, moving to give him a half hug. "Where will you go after Hogwarts?"

Feeling Rooney kiss her head as he passed, Kitty turned and offered a tired but sincere one of her own. To his offer, she said, "Thank you." That was very sweet of him. And yes, she really did regret firing all those question about the portal towards him in the common room. Of course she hadn't thought she was being rude, but after being cut by the monster and almost killed, she had a different perspective. No wonder he hadn't wanted to talk about it with anyone. "I'm really going to miss you over the summer," she called after him as he walked down the table.

Seemed her mind had drifted off briefly without her knowledge, for the next thing Cassie noticed was Leon greeting her by name along with Kitty and Mason whom she finally registered. “Hey,” the fourth year greeted back with a friendly smile. “I’m doing alright…but how are you doing?” she answered, before turning it back to him. Surely the thought of graduating was something bound to bring up feelings for anyone. “Any plans yet?” Cass added out of polite curiosity.

And then there was Rooney, the other prefect making an appearance and completing the duo. Cassie returned his smile before echoing it in Kitty’s direction as not to appear rude by not acknowledging the other girl’s presence. She remained quiet towards them however as they shared conversations with others, not exactly knowing what to say. It wasn’t like she had her own personal experiences with the portal monster…just obnoxious poltergeists.

So this was it. Seven years of blood, sweat and tears.......all coming to an end. Janelle could not believe that her time at Hogwarts was almost over. This was her last end of the year feast and she was determined to remember every second of it. It seemed like just yesterday that she had arrived on the train, an ickle firstie. She had fallen into the lake on the boat ride to the castle. Hopefully her departure would be less eventful than her arrival.

As she made her way over to the Ravenclaw table, Janelle looked around and took in all the sights. She was going to miss this place, but she wasn't exactly sad. It was more like excited to be moving on to the next chapter of her life. Janelle reached the table and gave a general "Hello" to everyone seated there. She slipped into an empty spot and got comfortable. She was going to have to make her rounds eventually. For now though, she was saitisfied with sitting and soaking up the Ravenclaw vibe......for the last time.

His stomach gave a low growl as he looked at the still empty plates. He poured in some pumpkin juice for himself and drank it to still his hunger a bit. It did not work. He sighed before letting his gaze go over the table again. More Ravenclaw students had arrived and he spotted the Prefect and his dorm mate smiling at him and Cassie.

He gave a nod back before he noticed that Leon was talking to him. Mason still wasn't sure if he had belittled him on purpose or by accident at the weasley swamp but judging by his normal behaviour it had all been inside his mind. It was a stupid thing to get himself worked up about anyways. "Fine" he answered to the question. "Congrats by the way. Were the N.E.W.Ts difficult?" Just asking cause he had to take them next year.

Still no food. The sixth year was going to eat the candy in his bag soon...if the House elves weren't already packing them for the trip home tomorrow morning. As he poured in another goblet, another seventh year arrived at the table and although Mason didn't personally know her, there was nothing wrong with congratulating people right? "Hey!" he called from over the table and pointed at Janelle. "Congrats on graduating" whatever-your-name-is.

"Hey Cassie." Kitty returned the fourth year Ravenclaw's smile with a tired one of her own. Haunted as she was by the events in the portal, she still wanted to be as nice as she could. "Nice to be going home?"

She also waved towards Mason, and then Janelle, who was going to be graduating this term. They didn't know each other very well, but having grown up attending the same school, Kitty knew she would miss the seventh year. "Where will you go after Hogwarts?" she asked her in an attempt to make conversation one last time.

Leon smiled as he looked up at Rooney and saw the Prefects offered hand. He reached out his own and gave the other boy a firm handshake. "It has been that Rooney, take care of the school for me while I'm gone, yeah? " He said with a nod. If Rooney didn't get Head Boy well, he's eat his hat or tear a log in half or something. He deserved it. He would miss him as well. He gave his housemate and friend a nod. These goodbyes were hard..



Leon looked at Kitty with soft eyes, he knew exactly what she was going through.. what they all were. He had been in the Portal and had only seen the monster and still his nightmares persisted, Kitty had been face to face with it and had gotten injured.. He couldn't imagine how bad that was. He wrapped his arms around the smaller girl and gave her a tight hug..

"I'm glad to hear it, if you ever need to talk or simply need a friend, I'm just an owl away.. " He said as he released her and nodded. "I'm going to miss all of you as well. " Hogwarts was home to him and now it was time to grow up.. it as a weird feeling.. and a sad one as well.

"I'm applying for the YATI program, and probably getting a place in London. " He said with a nod.


Leon returned the girls warm smile as she replied to him and he just shrugged as she asked how he was.. "I don't know if I can say right now, I'm just trying to enjoy my last few hours in this place.. I'll let you know tomorrow on the train how I'm feeling. " He said with a nod, he had so many feelings right now, he couldn't sort them out at the moment.. besides he didn't want to cry in front of everyone!

"Yeah, I'm applying for YATI and then spending my summer with Juno and my sister Az."" He said with a grin. "Any plans for the summer? "



Leon turned his attention to Janelle and he smirks at her. "Hello, how are you? " He asked before he turned to Mason and smiled. "Thanks, and they weren't super bad.. study hard and I'm sure you'll do well. " They were Ravenclaws.. studying came naturally to them.

He understood everything that Kitty was feeling and therefore was able to bypass the feelings he had had about her at other points of this school year. They weren't in the majority, honestly. A lot of the time, Rooney absolutely adored his co-prefect and appreciated her for the way she was with him. Kitty could honestly be a delightful individual and Roo was honoured that he was able to be in education with her and serve their school and house together. They were an incredible team, really. "You know exactly how to contact me, Kits. I'm only a letter away. I'll be at camp all of July, but I can still get letters." And he would have a lot of down time to write those letters, especially when he was writing lengthy ones to the love of his life as well.

Liv wasn't going to get rid of him that easy. Nahhhhh.

"Hey, Kits. Maybe you should come visit me in Paris in August. My Mum wouldn't mind!" And if Tamzin heard about what had happened to the Ravenclaw girl then she would probably insist that she came over.

Grateful that his smile was returned, Rooney passed a wrapped lollipop across the table to Cassie. "Are you all packed, Miss Cassie? Ready for the summer and everything?" If she needed help, then he was sure that he could find someone to come help her with her things. His was all packed up over a week ago and he was living with the bare essentials. Essentials being his textbooks and the picture of his Olivia Phillips that sat next to his bed every day. They may have been broken up, but that didn't change the level of love they had for one another. And they were technically still holding hands and kissing every now and then.

Best friends, obvy.

Thinking of the Gryffindor, Rooney took a glance over at her table and had to fight the urge to throw a hex across the Great Hall at the idiot who was singing and dancing on the table. Rooney Bronwyn was a fan of expressing yourself dramatically and being creative with your flourish...but this was not the time. People had been hurt and people were still frightened. This was nOT the time. Luckily, Alice Lupin was quick with her wand and Roo appreciated that. If she hadn't, then he was going to.

Oh my..another of those pesky graduates. Rooney shot an immediate smile towards Janelle and extended his arms around her as she sat down in a huuuuuge hug. "I'm really going to miss you, Miss Janelle. You're going to do so much good in the world." And he was certain that this was one of those girls that he would be hearing about in the years to come with all of the amazing things she would achieve. Perhaps she would one day be his competition in a race for Minister. Perhaps she would teach. Perhaps she would just be wonderful to so many people and make their lives so much better.

"You'll keep in touch? Letters and everything?"

There was a lot of respect between these two Ravenclaw boys, had it been because they both understood each other enough to stay out of the business of the other or just because they were chill enough with their education to appreciate the help the other could give. With a smile, Rooney also nodded. "What else do you think I'll be doing? Swinging from the chandeliers?" Leon was probably the graduate that Rooney would think about in the future and hope that he was doing well. He was also one of the only ones that Roo would make the effort to write to. It was hard to find your people in this castle, because so many people were fake fake fake. But Leon was good people. Leon was a good individual and Juno was very lucky to have snagged him up.

Before Rooney decided to snog him himself.

As more people began to arrive at the table, Janelle took note of all her housemates. She was going to miss them, for sure. Janelle turned when she heard someone addressing her. It was one of her housemates that she had unfortunately not gotten to know well. Mason, that was his name. The soon to be graduate smiled at his words. "Hey yourself. Thanks."



Then Janelle got a wave from her prefect. "Hi Kitty. I'm headed to university to study Magizoology. That is, after I spend the summer traveling and visiting family. What about you? What do you have planned for the summer?" Janelle felt bad that she hadn't gotten to spend more time with Kitty. Now it was too late. That was something she would always regret.



Janelle spotted one of her fellow seventh years giving her a curious look. "Leon", she said, with amusement in her voice. "I am fabulous. And you? Are you excited to be leaving this wonderful place?" Janelle was always interested to hear what people planned to do once they graduated.



And then, then came Rooney. Janelle had always found him to be such an interesting young man. As he came to her, she returned his hug with a big smile on her face. "Mr. Rooney, I think I might just miss you most of all.". As he continued by paying her a huge compliment, Janelle replied. "Thank you so much. I am definitely going to try." This was a happy occasion. Janelle was not going to cry today, but Rooney was trying to take her there.

"I will most certainly keep in touch and you.........you make sure to keep those Ravenclaws in line ok?" Janelle had no doubt that the prefect would do just that.

Gaston only had a few more gifts to hand out to the seventh years. Next stop: the Ravenclaw table! His bright blue eyes scanned the table and soon found Miss Guidry. "Hello, Miss Guidry!" he greeted her, smiling warmly. "Congratulations on graduation! Job well done!" He reached into his pocket for a graduation card and chocolate frog and handed them to the girl. "I wish you all the best!"

As he turned away, he noticed Mr. Kennedy and gave the other Ravenclaw grad a friendly wave as he passed. No, he hadn't forgotten about him! He'd already given him his present a bit earlier. Gaston sighed quietly, pinching at the inner corners of his eyes. Saying goodbye to students never failed to make him emotional! One would think it would get easier with time, but this was the one part of his job that was just as hard now as it had been when he started teaching.

It really was sad that she and Janelle hadn't gotten to be friends during their years together at Hogwarts. Kitty liked her very much, but it was just one of those things that for some reason had never happened. "That's nice that you're studying Magizoology. I don't know exactly what my summer plans are," she admitted, shrugging slightly. "Aside from visiting Rooney, I mean. That'll be nice. Maybe mom'll want to take us on vacation again." And she just knew how mad her mom would be when she found out all the details of what happened at Hogwarts this term. *shudder* A thought occurred to her. "Maybe we could um...write to each other sometimes. Just occasionally," she added hastily, wondering if maybe it was awkward to extend this offer when they didn't know each other very well.

She hugged Leon back, remembering all the good memories they had together. One memory especially that popped up was when she'd been scared to go into the forbidden forest, and he'd come up and made her feel better. Ironically, it was that visit to the forbidden forest that was one of her few happy big memories of this term. "That's great that you'll applying for YATI," she said emotionally as she released him. "And I'll definitely write to you. And I'll remember you next time we go into the forbidden forest for class," she said with a genuine smile.

"That sounds fun," she told Rooney as he said he was going to camp. "What sort of camp is it?" The only kind of camp she knew of were Muggle camps, so she wondered if he was going to a wizard equivalent. Then he made the offer for her to come visit him, and her face lit up. "Oh Rooney, I'd love to visit you!" She beamed happily, forgetting the moment at least her troubles associated with the portal and monster.

As always, Lady Helena floated into the Great Hall, looking as serene and elegant as ever. There was no look of agitation or worry on her face. In fact, her lips were stretched up into a soft smile that seemed to reach her pale eyes.

The resident Ravenclaw ghost drifted over towards a group of eaglettes and settled down opposite the female Prefect. "Good evening, everyone, and congratulations on making it through the year," she said, "Feeling okay, dears?"

The things that had happened had been tragic. Terrible, even. But if there was something to celebrate, it was the fact that two awful poltergeists were no longer around and thus, the energy of the castle looked like it was back to normal. Besides, she really wasn't very fond of Miffy in the first place.

Janelle saw Professor Marchand appear to be heading for the Ravenclaw table. She was quite surprised when he came over to her. That was nothing compared to her surprise when he was found to be bearing gifts. "Wow Professor", Janelle said, as she accepted the card and chocolate frog. "That was so sweet of you. Thank you very much. And thank you for everything thing you taught me. I'll try to make all of my professors proud." Janelle was touched by the professor's kind gesture. She was determined to do great things and make everyone proud of her.



Janelle listened, as the younger Ravenclaw described her summer plans. "That sounds nice. I liiiive for vacations. I don't even have to do anything special. Sometimes it's just nice to have a break.". Then, Kitty seemed to hesitate a bit. Janelle smiled when she heard her request. "Of course we can write to each other. Consider yourself my new pen pal. You can let me know how you're doing and what's going on at Hogwarts. Annnd it will be nice for me to have someone to talk to about the crazy things in my life. I'm looking forward to it already.". Maybe it wasn't too late become better friends after all.

Gaston couldn't help but beam at Miss Guidry as she thanked him for the card and chocolate. He knew it wasn't much, but she deserved it! It was always nice to know the gesture was appreciated. "You're incredibly welcome on both counts, Miss Guidry," he replied. "It's been a pleasure teaching you over the past two terms!" And he meant it with all his heart! She was a bright student, courteous, never caused trouble... He was a little taken aback by what she said next though. Didn't she understand? He already had made him proud! "I know you'll do great things, Miss Guidry." Yes, he had faith in her... just like he did in all his students.

"WAAAAH WAAAAAHHHH CRYBABY GASTON - no one CRIES like GASTON - "

The cackle following this interruptive statement was loud, and it carried across the table just as Peeves flung "LIVE" chocolate frogs in every direction. He dropped one in a studentsie's DRINK [Janelle] for good measure, too.

"SKIP THE DINNER, GO RIGHT TO DESSERT, STUDENTSIES!" he jetted over the length of the table, spilling the hopping, edible frogs all over EVERYTHING.

*CACKLE*

IT WAS GRYFFINDOR'S TURN!

Ah another older student and 7th year, Cassie offering a smile at Janelle as the girl approached the Ravenclaw table to join them. “Hello!” the fourth year-going on fifth year echoed back in greeting before taking the older eagle in. She seemed to be fairing pretty well and upbeat as 7th years went…in four years she had seen the range it could go. “Congrats on another year,” she said, opting for a more positive-driven note to any further conversation for the evening.

Kitty returned her smile and greeting and Cassie took that as a good sign. They were putting everything else behind them to enjoy the evening, looking forward to far better things. Like summer vacation plans and future years at Hogwarts. “Yep…I’d say,” she remarked in answer to the question posed to her. “Change of scenery and all.” Not to mention a break in studying before she bogged herself down with OWLs review for next year.

Was that really next year already?

Cassie awaited Leon’s answer to Kitty’s question that mirrored her own. YATI program…she knew what that meant. She did have a former MLE for an uncle. “That’s pretty cool,” she remarked, nodding at the rest of the news. Moving…spending time with family and friends. All sounded very good to Cass. As for her plans… “Just having fun before next year’s exam craziness.” Surely that was understood by someone who had had to go through both big exam periods and lived to tell the tale. They might be Ravenclaws but it was still taxing at times.

Rooney Bronwyn was a fan of expressing yourself dramatically and being creative with your flourish...but this was not the time. People had been hurt and people were still frightened. This was nOT the time. Luckily, Alice Lupin was quick with her wand and Roo appreciated that. If she hadn't, then he was going to.

Speaking of packing, the fourth year nodded at the question, smiling at the familiar form of address Rooney always used. Miss… “Yep, I’m all set.” All packed up and ready to go. No need to wait to the last minute and leave something in the dorms accidentally. Especially when her feline familiar already liked to make leaving day interesting.

As for the summer… “I think so. It’ll be nice to be home and pawn the brother on my parents,” she added with a touch of jest. She actually hadn’t minded too much having Grayson at school with her this term. Well other than having to be concerned for his safety and all that jazz with everything going on.

The cackle following this interruptive statement was loud, and it carried across the table just as Peeves flung "LIVE" chocolate frogs in every direction. He dropped one in a studentsie's DRINK [Janelle] for good measure, too.

"SKIP THE DINNER, GO RIGHT TO DESSERT, STUDENTSIES!" he jetted over the length of the table, spilling the hopping, edible frogs all over EVERYTHING.

*CACKLE*

IT WAS GRYFFINDOR'S TURN!

Ah…there was the Grey Lady to see them off.

“Good evening, Lady Helena,” Cassie greeted the ghost in return. She was one ghost the Ravenclaw didn’t mind having around. “Thanks…” she said to the congratulations. They had survived. The fourth year was about to answer she was fine when Peeves made an appearance and she groaned instead. “No thanks…Peeves.” Cue flicking a frog away from her as it hopped close. Thankfully the headmistress cued the speech and the food.

Janelle was engaged in her conversation with Professor Marchand when it happened. Peeves, Peeves happened. Chocolate Frogs were hopping everywhere. There was a time when Janelle may have been upset by this. Today though, all she could do was laugh. When a frog landed in her drink, she snagged it and popped it into her mouth. "Thanks Peeves", she said, and then proceeded to drain her glass. As Janelle said in the Memory Book, sometimes you just had to roll with it.



Amidst the madness, there was a beacon of light. Janelle heard a hello and saw a smiling face. Thank you", she said to the younger Claw, returning her smile. "Make sure you enjoy your next few years. That seventh year comes at you quickly.". And that was the absolute truth.
