Located on the fifth floor corridor is a classroom dedicated to teaching Music, wizarding and muggle alike, by occasional guests from outside the school. The room features rows of music stands and stools, a drum kit, a piano and a conductor's stand as well as a blackboard on the wall. This classroom also holds host to a mixture of both vocal and instrumental practices, so talented or interested students can make use of the instruments here as long as they don't take or spoil anything away.

There was a MUSIC classroom at Hogwarts? Yet another thing her brother forgot to mention. Tsk, tsk, older brother. Anyway... Olivia pushed open the door to the room gently and took a moment to soak everything in. The room was simply and elegantly equipped with a piano, drums, music stands, and more. This was awesome. This may have been her favourite room in the whole castle.
Closing the door gently behind her, she approached the piano. Was she even allowed to be in here? she wondered. She hadn't seen a sign so she assumed that it was alright. She opened the case that protected the piano keys and ran her fingers along the ivory keys. It had been a while since she had last played. Then Olivia took a seat and began playing Moondance by Van Morrison. It was a little rusty at first, but after a couple of tries her fingers remembered all the notes she needed to hit. As she played, she hummed the tune in her mind and tapped her foot, trying to keep to the tempo.

Okay. This was totally her favourite room now.
Brent was still on his adventure around Hogwarts, when he found himself walking down the corridor on the fifth floor. He was pretty much finding his way around, so he wouldn't look like an idiot once classes got good and started. He'd heard that long ago, one of the professors threatened to turn to Gryffindor boys into a watch or map when they turned up late to class. Mortifying! That would NOT be Brent!
He was just about to head to the stairwell, when he heard the distinct sound of music drifting down the corridor. Hmm? When he curiosity got the best of him, he poked his head into a room and discovered that it was all about music--instruments, vocals, and the like. Not only that, there was a girl playing a piano, and she seemed to really know what she was doing.
Brent stepped into the room and was careful not to make any noise. He was just going to listen to the song until she was done, and then he'd tell her she'd done an awesome job. He was doing pretty good at being quiet until he stepped on just the right board, and the floor creeeeeeeeeaked beneath his feet.
There was only one place that Katerina wanted to be right now. The music room, yes it reminded her of a certain Slytherin boy but it was also one of her favorite places in the castle. That was never going to change. It seem like tons of things were changing this year. Changes that had already happened, tand they wasn't even but a few weeks into the year.
She supposed that things happened for a reason. She sat down on the bench in front the piano. She picked at key and hit the note, then did it again. After several minutes that was the only key she hit. Finally a little tune. And that was it, staring at the piano keys in front her for a moment, she laid her head down against the keys with a big loud. DUM! Face to piano. Sad Kat was sad. She just wasn't the mood for music.
Weird.

This was a busy day. She had done all her classes and did her homework. Actually helped a first year and then hung out with her friends. It had been a busy day, but a good one. So why not end a good day on a great note and go to the music room. The band was without their drummer for weekly practices, though they mirrored Hady and did what they could to make sure they all were together even though they were apart.
Tonight though, she was going to practice alone. There were a few things she wanted to tryout. She always liked to try them alone or with Roman before she showed the band. She knew the girls would listen, but she always hated to bug them so much.
Plus it was her time to relax when she was alone with the piano, but it seemed like she wasn't going to be alone. As she walked in she noticed someone already there. "Hey Kat" did she play?

Still tapping her foot, she experimented with different levels of volume, starting at piano and then slowly increasing to forte. She grinned, enjoying every moment thoroughly. She'd have to come here more often. Here, she could think, work through problems, or just have fun. It was perfect.
Olivia was so into the melody that she didn't even notice another person enter the room. Done with the forte part, she brought the music down to the mezzopiano. This was the part when she heard quite a loud creak from the floor, she didn't glance up or stop playing. She continued. She had to finish the song. Knowing that she had a visitor only made her grin more and feel more daring to show off. Her fingers still played the keys but very softly now at a pianissimo level.
Hitting the last note, she pulled her hands away from the keys and glanced up to find her visitor was someone she recognized. It was Brent, right? The guy who dropped/threw the TDK album. Olivia was glad to see him. He had been a pretty cool guy. "Oh. Hey Brent! How's it going? Could you guess what song that was?" she asked with a grin.

Roaming the castle was often a relaxing thing but of late Sir Nicholas hadn't been able to relax quite so well. His spectral heart would have been a flutter if it had still been beating but alas, it was not.
The music room called to him and Sir Nicholas appeared through the wall. The music might relax the ghost. He paused and allowed his transparent body to float gently in the air as he listened. "Hmmm," he sighed.
He knew about this music classroom. He had been in here once before but only for a brief while. He even brought his guitar for the occasion. He had his guitar in his backpack and he knew the charm to safely fit it, his cousin taught him. Anyways as he walked in, he noticed he wasn't alone because why would he be? This room was popular. He noticed Nearly Headless Nick was here. He nodded and said, "Hello Nick.." When he began to explore the room some more he noticed a drum set.
OH SICK!
He beamed and went over to try it. He loved drums but his mother never had the money to get him one. He found the sticks and tried to find his beat.

Duuuuude. She was good. No wonder she'd been in the music store that day. She hadn't mentioned then that she played an instrument, but then again, their conversation had been cut short for one reason or another. Brent couldn't remember now. The song eventually came to an end, and Brent kind of entertained the idea of slipping unnoticed out of the room. Who knew if she had even wanted an eavesdropper when she was playing her song.
She glanced up, though, and he was caught. He grinned at her, deciding to compliment her and hope she wasn't mad. She didn't seem mad, though, and HEYYY--she even remembered his name! "That was some awesome piano playing," he said. "I had no idea you played." Then again, it wasn't like he knew her well or anything. He shook his head. "The tune's familiar, but I can't place the name."
The room was getting packed now! When he'd first walked in, it had just been him and Olivia, but now he couldn't help but notice the ghost floating around nearby. "Hey there, Sir Nick," he said. SEEEE! He was brushing up on his Hogwarts trivia now!

Olivia glanced down momentarily when he complimented her. Her cheeks tinged the slightest shade of pink. She had never been good at accepting compliments. "Thanks! I haven't played since the beginning of summer. I guess I've been so busy with getting ready for school. Do you play an instrument?" she asked. She had always enjoyed piano. It let her take a moment away from the daily stresses and worries that presented themselves. Everything goes away. Playing piano transported the young witch to a completely different realm. It was magical.. Well.. in its own way. "It's Moondance by Van Morrison. I'd love to learn flute so that I could learn how to play that solo." Oh! Her eyes widened momentarily. She had forgotten to congratulate him on his sorting. "Also congrats on being sorted into Slytherin! It's a great house." Her brother was a Slytherin. Plus, she had already met a few nice ones, such as two boys (who were both named Oliver)!
Before she could say anything else, she watched as Brent addressed Sir Nick, her house ghost. Huh. She wondered what brought him here but perhaps it was a little too rude to ask. He was their elder. And he deserved their respect. Besides, he seemed like a very cool ghost. Olivia grinned. "Hello Sir Nick! How are you?"

It had been awhile since Leon had visited the music room, but this year he had totally spaced and left his guitar at home. So until his mom cooks find the time time (and the owls) to send it to him, it looked like he would have to use the school guitar.
He entered the room and smiled as he saw the Head Boy on the drums and he moved over to grab one of the guitars in the room..
"Mind if I join? " He asked as he sat down on a bench and started to strum along to the drum beat.

When Colt was in his zone, he couldn't hear anything. He was just playing his music and that is it. So when he looked up and saw a dude was standing there. He jumped a bit. He didn't expect that at all. "Bloody merlin.." he muttered. "You startled me mate.." he said and had to lower his beating heart with deep breaths. But he wouldn't mind a second hand. "Yeah man you can join." he nodded and pointed to the chair next to him. "The name is Colt. Colt Winchester.." he nodded. Just so it wouldn't be too awkward. He was curious and asked, "What songs do you know on that guitar?" He knew some songs but not all.

"What's up?" She smiled, trying to cover up her thoughts and saddness. She didn't need to bother anyone with them. Especially Nat. At least now she didn't have to be alone. She had Nat to talk to. Plus she really looked up to her, a headgirl. Kat wanted to be one, some day. The older girl was a amazing piano player and singer, another reason to look up to her. Most of all Nat had given her so great, advice too. So to her Nat was awesome.

Leon made an apologetic gesture as he saw the other boy startle, he hadn't meant to frighten him. "Sorry mate, I didn't mean to. " He said as he settled down onto a chair, letting the other boy catch his breath for a moment before he started to speak.
"Thanks man. " He said with a nod as he put the guitar on his lap and hunched over it a bit as he placed his fingers on the neck and strummed a few chords to make sure it was in working order and not out of turn. Thankfully everything seemed to be in working order and he turned back to the head boy as he introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you Colt, Leon Kennedy." Even though he had seen the boy around plenty, they had never been properly introduced.
Leon smiled as he strummed the guitar and looked over at Colt.. "Plenty, know Smoke on the Water?" The 7th year asked as he started to play.

The girl didn't look as happy and bouncy as she usually was, but Nat wouldn't pry. She had her own things that she didn't want people. "Do you know how to play?" She was in the music room so Nat wasn't sure she was practicing or just in here charming the instruments to play for her. She liked to do both depending on her mood, but she had really wanted to practice a little on her own today.
"Oh I was just coming in on a brake to practice a bit." Pulling out some of the music she had brought with her. There was a new song she had come across this summer that she wanted to tryout. It had been a country song, but she felt she could really make it her own. The words kind of spoke her feelings recently.
"Mind if I play?" If she was in the middle of something Nat could come back though.

Seeing Nat made Kat smile a bit. It was nice to have older girls as friends, because they had dealt with girl problems longer than her. "Yeah. I've played since I was 5 years old, and I just started the flute this summer." She liked telling anyone and everyone that she had picked up another instrument. She was pretty proud of herself. She played something on the piano for her. Smiling after she finished.
"Yeah. Sure." The fourth year scooted over from the middle of the piano bench. This was going to be so exciting to get to see her play from sitting right next to her. "What are you going to play?" She would be so excited if she played one of the Sirens original songs. But really it was just cool to have her there playing, Kat wanted to be to a band too one day. That would probably never happen. But a girl can dream.

Colt waved off his apology like any man would do. "No harm mate. You were just soo into my drum playing skills is that it?" he teased him a bit but all in good fun. He saw him tuning his guitar and he seemed to know what he was doing. That was awesome. Leon. Leon. Did that name sound familiar. "Nice to meet ya mate. Say did you go to Durmstrang per chance?" Maybe that is where he heard the name. He looked kind of familiar. He always seen him in classes though.
When he heard Leon mention Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple, he smiled so wide. Merlins beard yeah he knew that classic rock tune. He heard him strumming the tune and he stopped the drums and accioed another guitar. "I wanna play guitar.." he shrugged. He got his all tuned up and began to jam with him.

He was into sports? Nice. Olivia wasn't that much into sports herself due to the fact that she had horrible balance. She was a professional at tripping over nothing. "What kind of sports?" she asked, curious to hear if he played Quidditch or perhaps a muggle sport. Her eldest brother loved sports. He was the biggest sports fan in their family. Simon and her preferred other things. Though perhaps if she could improve her balance, then Olivia would have found sports more enjoyable.
She was glad that he was having a good time in Slytherin. She hadn't pegged him for one before as he seemed much different from her own brother but after meeting a few other Snakes, she could see some similarities between the three boys. She brushed a loose strand of unruly curly hair behind her ear and smiled "That's good. Slytherin is a great house. My brother sent me an owl jokingly disowning me from our family for not ending up in Slytherin." At least she thought it was a joke. Sometimes she didn't get her brother's sense of humor or perhaps it was just difficult to read someone's tone from a letter. She hoped he was joking. "Gryffindor is great. We had a paint party after the feast. It was epic though I had to wash my robes several times to get all the paint out of them. It was well worth it."

Sir Nicholas glanced over to the voices and spotted two students, one of which belonged to his own house. "Hello there Ollie," he said to Olivia from House Gryffindor. The other man he wasn't entirely sure. "Hello there kind sir," he said. "What, pray tell, may I call you? Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington at your service." He gave a shallow bow to minimise any neck openings.

Sitting down next to the puffer she smiled as she talked about the instruments she played. "The flute is a nice one to pick up. I've only truly learned the piano, though a friend of mine started to teach me the guitar." She could play it, but not great and since Roman and she had not been together the lessons had stopped. Eyes moving to the piano as Kat started to play she listened to the music. It was a nice sound and Kat had hit everything correctly. "That was great. You've had a good teacher." Though Nat couldn't really talk since her teacher wasn't the nicest man, but he did give her the basics. The rest was her determination to learn. "Do you come in here often?" Maybe they'd run into each other more. She could always handle some extra practices with others.
Hmmm, that gave her an idea. She could probably teach other students singing and the piano if they wanted. Though she had so much on her plate as it was. It was something she could think about though.
Moving more into the middle when Kat said it was okay she thought a moment. "I'm not really sure. I have my WADA audition coming up so I need to practice. Maybe you could help me. Do you think I should try a more soft piece that people would know or do you think I should try one of my own pieces?" She had written a few, but she didn't know if they were fully ready to be done as a solo for an audition into WADA.

Maybe that is where he heard the name.
Leon let an easy grin move over his lips as Colt spoke and he shrugged.. "What can I say mate? I was entranced." He teased as he looked over at the older boy as he seemed to try to place him.. "Nah mate, I've always been here, just kinda hiding out in the back I suppose. Maybe I have one of those faces? " Even though he had been going to Hogwarts his whole life, he felt like people could finally see him this term.. weird..
"Have you ever met anyone with the last name Kenendy before?" He knew it was a shot in the dark, but perhaps the head boy would have heard something?
Leon grinned as he kept playing the opening rift and his smile got even wider as Colt accio'd a guitar to him.
"More the merrier.." Leon understood..
This was an amazing song.. why wouldn't you want to play it on the Guitar?

Brent could talk all day long about sports. Dueling, too. Right now, she'd asked him about sports, though. "Quodpot mainly. I was big into it back in America. I was hoping there'd at least be Quidditch here, but I didn't know you guys had stopped it," he answered. He had literally no outlet for sports here in Great Britain. That had definitely not been a selling point during the big move. He was still kind of sore about that one.
"So your brother was in Slytherin?" he asked. He didn't even know she had a brother, much less one that was also a snake. "That's pretty cool!" He was glad to hear Gryffindor was having some fun, although he didn't think he'd be into painting too much. He raised his eyebrows when Nick called Olivia by Ollie. He didn't know she had a nickname either. That was probably because they'd just met, and he pretty much knew nothing about everybody in the entire school.
Sir? He paused before answering Nick. His full name sounded really proper, and for some reason, it caused Brent to think he needed a proper introduction, as well. "I am Sir Brenton Isaac Westwood of Malibu," he answered, and just hearing the response made him grin. He, too, bowed. Was this an alright conversation to have with a ghost?
Leon let an easy grin move over his lips as Colt spoke and he shrugged.. "What can I say mate? I was entranced." He teased as he looked over at the older boy as he seemed to try to place him.. Colt chuckled and couldn't blame him. He knew he was joking and was glad the fellow could take a joke. Literally Leon described how he felt sometimes. "Yeah I am usually hiding in the back too. I like to feel out my surroundings and observe. Don't like to draw attention to myself.." Clearly that wasn't working out for him being head boy. "Yeah you might have one of those faces.." he eyed him. Clearly Colt didn't.
His question caught him off guard. He had to repeat it in his head. "Nahh mate I haven't. I mean not here in Hogwarts but in U.S history I have." Maybe he knew about John F. Kennedy in the muggle world. His mother was a history nerd hence why. He was loving the tune they were playing together. He was getting chills at how good they were. Once he played the last chord and sighed with relief, he commented on Leon's skills. "Nice guitar playing mate, where did you learn to play guitar?" Look at this slytherin being curious.
Sitting down next to the puffer she smiled as she talked about the instruments she played. "The flute is a nice one to pick up. She had written a few, but she didn't know if they were fully ready to be done as a solo for an audition into WADA.
Kat normally didn't get all starstuck hanging around Nat, but for whatever reason she was beaming from ear to ear. "Yeah it is, I would love to learn the guitar." That was her next instrument goal. She had lots of friends who played and would probably teach her. Cornelius had started to show her how to play the drums, over the Christmas break last term. That was likely over now. She didn't frown, because she didn't want to worry Nat with her little girl boy troubles. She finished the song she was playing, still smiling. "My mom, and I had a private teacher," Here mom played and she wanted to play too. She started teaching her and ended up having to get her a teacher, that was more advance for her.
'Yeah, I come a lot." She didn't ask Nat because she had seen her in here tons of times, too bad there wasn't two pianos in here, It would make things easier if there was. There was a few times that Nat had beat her there, it was okay though. She knew that Nat needed the piano more that she did. Especially considering she was applying to WADA. "You are? That's so cool. Good luck." She smiled at the older girl. "I'd love to help. Oh one of your own pieces, for sure. It will show your originality with your music." She nodded, it sounded good to her. Wasn't that what they looked for in WADA auditions? Or maybe they wanted to here something that they hear every year. to compare it to someones addition from year ago. But what did she know.
