Muggle Studies Lesson 2: Board Games Quote:
Lesson Progression: *Define 'Board Game'/ Why do we play them? *Have a fave board game? Want to play one in particular? Give us an overview of the game! * Mini activity! * Char + Main Activity! * Class has ended! OOC: |
Muggle studies. Noelle yawned as she headed into the classroom. She gave a wave and a smile to the professor before looking at the board. Hmmm.... more games? Taking a seat in one of the desks, she yawned again while taking out her supplies. She jotted down what was on the board. "Good morning professor." She finally said when she could stop yawning. Now time to wait for others to show up and class to start. |
Kane smiled at the professor as he entered Muggle Studies - one of the classes he was BEST at, mainly because muggles had so many cool comics and video games and stuff. He was still super bummed that technology didn't work here, otherwise he'd have brought some of the stuff he had been tinkering with. At home, he had an old Gameboy handheld that he was working on - and it would be collecting dust till summer. Boooo. "Hey Professor!" he said with a grin as he took his seat, eyes moving to the board. OOOOH he knew what THOSE were (again, thanks to his fascination with muggle pop culture). WERE THEY GOING TO PLAY GAMES? A GAMEBOY MAYBE?! |
Janelle was rather excited for Muggle Studies class and as she reached the classroom door, she was surprised. One of the first to arrive. That didn't happen very often, but when it did........it brought a smile to her face. "Hello Professor Stewart", the seventh year said cheerfully. Janelle had her choice of seats and selected one toward the front of the room. Her smile widened when she saw what was written on the board. Muggle games! Might that be the topic for the day? Janelle loved muggle games. She hoped they would get to play some today? As she sat down and prepared for class, she wondered just what the professor had in mind for the lesson. Only time would tell. |
Leon had actually picked up a few classes in the last half of the year, with the curfew the seventh year found he had more time for things like studying and classes, and so Muggle studies was one he decided to go to. It was interesting, especially since his he had some friends who were muggles.. He walked into the classroom with a smile on his face, "Hello Professor Stewart! " He said warmly as he sat down at a desk and looked up at the board.. Ohh muggle board games? That looked fun! |
This class was a hard one to attend. She liked Professor Stewart and she liked the class. She liked muggles, they were the only nice people she had met when she was with her mother, but today she was having a hard time with it. As she walked down the corridors conversations ran in her head. He was named after a muggle. They had muggle phones, they discussed muggle bands, and different muggle things. One of their dates was even a muggle amusement park. Maybe this was a bad idea? She got to the door and looked around, took a deep breath, and remembered what healer Reed told her. She was stronger than this and she could do it. With that in her head she headed in. She didn't make much eye contract as she walked in, but she wouldn't not greet the professor, "Hello Professor" Turning she headed in and found an empty seat pulling out her parchment she glanced at the whiteboard. hmm did her and the HOM professor talk and plan together? Games for both lessons. |
Muggle Studies…Muggle Studies…Muggle Studies. Cassie didn’t have to chant the subject name to summon the class as she headed towards the latest lesson of such. All she had to do was walk to the classroom with her bag of supplies, including muggle pens and pencils slung over her shoulder. “Hello Professor,” she greeted the woman with a polite smile. The woman seemed to be in a decent mood which the Ravenclaw was willing to follow through with herself. The sun was shining and they weren’t in immediate danger so that was well enough…for now. Passing the professor to step out of the doorway for others to follow, Cass scoped out the classroom for a place to sit, finally opting for a place near the front. It was then, as she sat down and settled her belongings around her that she noticed the list on the board. Games…must be a theme lately. First History of Magic and now Muggle Studies. Not that she was opposed to having fun in a lesson at all. |
Rooney LOVED classes that he didn't have to use his wand in and learning environments that were easy for him to feel comfortable in. As he strolled through the door, he flashed a smile at Professor Stewart and took a seat. It was weird how easy breezy he felt knowing he wouldn't have to get out his wand or check his skills with magic. "Hi, Professor." He added as an afterthought and got himself comfortable properly. It was only then that he noticed the list on the board and read through it whilst waiting for class to start up. |
Professor <3 Leon <3 Juno was lucky today that the classroom she had to escort students to was only one floor away from the Muggle Studies classroom. She actually walked here...at a normal pace...and still had plenty of time before class started. "Hello, Professor Stewart!" She said with a smile and a wave. When she turned to look for an open seat she was surprised to see Leon. She was so used to him not being in Muggle Studies that she forgot he was in the class now. A huge smile broke out on her face, and she instantly went over and sat next to him. She gave him a small nudge with her shoulder and a wink. "Hey, Cap!" She said with a grin. |
"Heya Professor Stewart!" The Curly Top greeted the pretty rawrr worthy brunette with his usual cheerful smile until it dropped when he set his eyes on the board "Monopoly!" he pointed and beamed. Yes he knew that game. He knew most of the board games listed there but the first one he knew the best. Chalk that up to multiple versions of the game plus the fact that his dad loved playing it too. Provided he played banker as well. And lawmaker. Sheesh. He slid into a seat and looked around. Did the Professor have boardgames stacked up around here? |
Etta enjoyed this lesson, she really did. The Hufflepuff had a smile on her face as she entered the classroom and greeted the professor politely. "Hello, professor. How are you today?" She turned to find the perfect place to sit. Hmm. Somewhere near the middle, maybe? After finding a seat, she sat down and dropped her bag to the floor. Pulling out some parchment and quills, she set them on her desk neatly-- when she noticed the list of boardgames mentioned on the board. Ooooh, that's interesting. |
Muggle studies! Hah! This was something she knew and she liked it to have a lesson where she didn’t needed to study that hard because of the obvious reason that she came from a Muggle family herself. Altough… She knew that some of the asked questions were even for Muggles difficult to answer because they weren’t just talking about random things like the use of a television or a how a dishwasher was working… No, mostly the questions what were asked here were a little more complicated but still, it was something she probably liked. “Hello professor Stewart” she greeted but already after a few seconds she was distracted and looked up at the blackboard and… She frowned. There were a lot of muggle games she recognized but those other things like, snakes and ladders? Where they also games? Hmm, shaking her head she decided to wait and to find it out later but, the prospect of a lesson full of games wasn’t a bad one! Taking a seat next she unpacked her schoolbag so that she would be ready when the lesson would officially start. Looking around her she noticed that she wasn’t the only one who was ready so she felt a little relieved, she didn’t wanted to look like a Ravenclaw who was eager to study but, she liked it to be prepared because how else was she supposed to win some housepoints if she didn’t showed some effort? |
The list had Charlotte stop short because she wasn't at all sure what any of it was supposed to mean. Like she knew what the words meant on their own, but why they were all together was quite confusing really. Did the professor think that a monopoly was a risky thing?Or that life was like a stiff breeze? Did she want them to go and boggle each other's brains by getting a few zzzz's on a yacht? And, perhaps more curiously, did Slytherins have trouble on ladders? She eyed some of them dubiously as she continued into the classroom, but not before a quick greeting for the professor. "Hello professor." What crazy muggle thing was she going to learn next? |
Having gotten up especially early that morning (5 a.m. to be exact), Olivia felt wide awake and ready for lessons by the time Muggle Studies rolled around. And since her insane appetite had come roaring back to life, snacking was a legitimate thing again. Today, it was a bag of pistachios. Healthier snacking, at least? Once upon a time, anything healthy would've made her hurl. Oh, how the mighty hath fallen. "Professor Stewart. Hey, hi, hello." It was a bright exclamation upon her lips as the Gryffindor sashayed into the classroom. There was something about today, you know? She felt properly settled back into school life; like everything was finally back on track. Good vibes. Which... was why Liv entertained the idea of sitting with Rooney today. They couldn't continue to avoid one another, and she didn't want that, anyway. Before their epic romance began, he'd been her best friend... But that was ultimately the reason why the blonde chose against doing as much. It wasn't her intention to make Roo feel trapped or backed into a corner, and that was exactly what would've happened had she sprung this on him. .... But at least she'd considered it? It was a start, in her eyes. Also, excuse you, Professor. WHERE WAS SCRABBLE ON YOUR LIST? CANDY LAND?! |
Entering the classroom with his textbook balanced on his head, Derf stopped and slooooooowly waved to the professor with a bit of a cheeky grin. There really was no purpose for him walking with his book like this, he had no intention of correcting his posture, other than he was simply curious if he could make it all the way from his common room to the classroom without dropping it. Spoiler alert, he could not. Book sliding off his head and into his arms as he turned his attention towards the board, the Hufflepuff was struck with a bit of déjà vu with Professor Newton's lesson. Selecting a seat, Derf got his things out and prepped a fresh piece of parchment. Risk...dad quite fancied that game. It required far too much attention to detail and thinking 10 steps ahead of your opponents for the first year to be able to manage. Snakes and Ladders though...THAT one he could manage! |
Henry wasn't sure why Derf was trying to balance a book on his head as he headed for the Muggle Studies classroom, but he did know that it was making him slower that usual. Or at least it seemed like it as he was walking behind him. But the sixteen year old was fairly patient about it and said nothing, simply giving him a smile for his quirkiness as he followed in behind him. "Good morning, Professor," he nodded in greeting as he passed her, then glanced up at the board on his way to find a seat. Oh! He recognized some of those names! Board games... would they be playing some today? Monopoly was a favorite when he'd visit his cousins. |
Entering the classroom, Skylar did take notice of the fact that there was a list of muggle board games on the board. First history of magic talking about wizarding games and sports, now muggle studies with muggle games, Skylar had to admit she was enjoying the 'lighter fare' in lessons these days. Giving a smile towards the professor, the third year found a seat somewhere near a window as she gazed out curiously at the bright skies. Finally some sunshine after the winter, which was nice and guessed partly what contributed to the lighter fare in classes these days. |
The pleasant morning had the effect of making her feel better than she'd been for the past several weeks. That, and that this was Muggle Studies. She escorted a group of younger students into the classroom and went to the front of the rows. "Good morning Professor Stewart," she greeted her cheerfully. She read the list on the whiteboard. "Oh, I see we're studying Muggle board games today. Cool." She had three of those games herself back at the mansion. |
The fourth year was so excited to be heading to Muggle Studies today. It was the classes that she enjoyed that kept her excited and going to her other lessons. She was skipping to the classroom. Once inside she stopped skipping and causally walked into the classroom. "Good Morning, Professor Stewart." Katerina smiled brightly at her, then headed to find a seat. She took a seat in the middle of the room. Turing her blue eyes up to the board, she read the list of the board games. She was already jotting down the list and adding more to it. She loved muggle board games with a passion. She owned close to every single muggle board game known to mankind. |
So Jonas qas early. Yaay. Haha. He walked in. "Morning profrssor" he said. He took a seat and noticed the white board ...yatseee....snakes and ladders...manopaly? What in Merlin was all that??? Jonas had no idea. |
For once, Daisy had no complaints about the hour in which the lesson was taking place. She might have left the common room earlier than usual to go for a run, knowing that she needed to get in better shape than she was. Which would sort of be against the lockdown rules - so she probably hadn't done that. Probably. Ahem. Or she had definitely done that. Who would know, really? It was safe to say that she was in an exceptionally good mood, though, and as she walked down the corridor towards the classroom there was a definite bounce to her step. "Good morning, professor!" She greeted the woman and made her way to find a desk towards the middle of the classroom. Wait ... were they playing games today? Oh yes, please. |
SPOILER!!: The awesomeeee charries! <3 ******* “Welcome to the lesson, everyone! I’ve noticed many of your reactions upon seeing the list on the board.’’ Kay indicated to the whiteboard. They had all noticed what was written there, yes? It was hard to miss unless they were really distracted. “A few of you have already told me that we’ll be studying Muggle board games today and yes, you would be correct. “Before we get started, go ahead and define the term ‘board game’. Or if you’d rather, list a reason why one would play or want to play a board game? Remember you don’t have to be right with your answers so I encourage you all to not be afraid of saying something you are unsure of.’’ She was starting the lesson off in a simple manner today and as always, she wanted her students to think for themselves; to think out of the box if necessary. OOC: :doof: We have officially commenced the lesson so please do not post any late arrivals for charries! Or you may do so and risk loosing House points  We shall carry on in 24 hours! |
Leon smiled warmly over as Juno but he was being careful again, so it wasn't much more than that, he would talk to her more when class was over. He smiled up at the Professor and then tilted his head in thought as she asked the first few questions.. Sure he could give the definition.. but he wanted to say why he would play a board game instead! So the seventh year raised his hand and spoke,. " My family actually had a few board games, and we would play them as a family to have togetherness time.. It was a time to connect and have fun together.. I always looked forward to our game nights. " He said smile. |
Brent wasn't really a board game kind of dude, but he was open to whatever. He was more of an action sports kind of person, and was really missing having that outlet here at Hogwarts. He guessed he could have played loads of board games as a little kid, but he just had no interest. That had always been more of Kane's kind of thing. He'd chime in, though. Raising his hand, he said, "Board games are designed on a piece resembling a board, only it's decorated with the theme of the game." He didn't want it to seem like he was suggested that it was just a plain, wooden board. "All the game play centers around the board. Umm...I think somebody would want to play a board game, because they're not really dangerous, and it's something they can even do inside if the weather's bad." |
As she had suspected based on the games written on the board, the topic of today's lesson was board games. Were they going to be playing board games, or maybe even inventing games of their own? She raised her hand to offer up her thoughts on board games. "Board games are games that you play on marked boards, and they usually involve moving some sort of game piece around on the board. You can play board games with other people. Board games give you something fun to do." Isa was more of the type for running around outside games like tag, but she had fun playing board games with her family too. Family bonding times were the best. She loved her family more than anything else. |
