Muggle Studies Lesson 1: Famous Muggles: Pablo Picasso There are no indications (yet again) to indicate what today’s lesson will be about, the professor made sure of that as she liked to keep her students in suspense. Satisfied that everything was set, she moved to the classroom’s door. She was ready to greet her kiddos! You’re free to have a seat when you arrive as well as chat with your friends. Helpful Links for the Lesson's Progression: * Name the painting and or artist. * Any facts about Pablo? What do you like/dislike about art? * Mini Activity! * Main Activity! * Update on time remaining for activity! * Update/ Class is over |
Zelena entered the room, her eyes falling upon Professor Kay's desk which was covered by a sheet. She then saw the other sheet-covered object. This Slytherin was getting too curious and had just realised that she had not spoken. "Terribly sorry, Professor Kay. I got distracted. Hope you are well." She quickly made her way to a seat and sat down. She removed the necessary lesson requirements from her bag and placed them on her desk. |
Janelle arrived for Muggle Studies in a good mood. She was looking forward to this class and anxious to see what was planned for today's lesson. Entering the classroom, the seventh year looked around. Boy, these professors liked to keep the students guessing this year. More covered items. Didn't they know that Janelle was always curious? Making her wait to find out what they'd be doing in class was torture. "Hello Professor. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us today." That was the truth. Janelle found her seat and sat down. She took out her supplies and opened her textbook. That would have to take her mind off things until class began. |
Etta casually strolled into class.. and realised that she was waaaay too early. Whoops. It was a good thing though, right? Being punctual? And apparently, things were covered in this class too. She glanced at the sheets curiously for a moment before her eyes drifted towards the professor, a small smile on her face. "Hello, professor." She sat down somewhere near the front, turning to greet the other students ( Zelena and Janelle ) as well. "Hi." Etta pulled out her parchment and quill, set them on the desk and waited for class to begin. |
Muggle Studies. Well, this ought to be interesting. Brent hadn't had much experience with the Muggles, but he at least knew the basics. He walked slowly to class, wishing he could have at least slept in a little longer. Maybe 'til like noon or something? Walking into the room, he saw the professor and gave her a grin. "Good morning, Professor Stewart," he said. What's upppppp? He took note of the sheet hiding who-knew-what. What was it with Hogwarts' professors and sheets hiding stuff? Brent turned away from the sheet and found a random seat in the room. Alright, Muggle Studies. Hit me with your best shot. |
Muggle Studies, it was a class Nat didn't mind. She had spent much of her childhood in a muggle town and doing muggle things. So going to a class that studied them was easy as making cookies. So when it was close to ten she made her way to the classroom and entered. Looking around she smiled at the students that had already arrived and then turned towards the professor, "Morning Professor, hope you are having a lovely day." A little kissing up and being sweet wasn't a bad thing. With her greetings done though she made her way to the first empty seat and sat down. "Morning everyone." She was in a good mood so she figured why not say hello to everyone instead of just a select few. |
"Mornin Professor Stewa-- ohhh whats this??" Yup very quickly distracted the boy got. Why? Well if you have a PURPLE colored fabric covering lotsa STUFF, that will surely get this boy's attention. He may have poked and tugged at those covered things a bit. Gryffindor curiosity you know. |
Juno walked slowly into Muggle Studies. She was so sleepy today. She didn't have very restful sleep the night before and she wasn't exactly sure why. She was having some very vivid dreams, and not necessarily good ones. She hoped her father's nightmares weren't something she had inherited...but it could be the stress of classes as well. She waved and smiled at the professor before greeting her, "Morning, Professor Stewart." She then found an empty chair and collapsed into it. She yawned hugely, rubbing her eyes. She must look terrible. |
ooc: Zelena has met those who've said "hi" to her. Zelena patiently awaited for more students to arrive and for the lesson to begin. She was casually reading her textbook when she heard a voice. Quote:

Did Jonas make it on time? Hopefully he did. Yay! He did. "Good day professor.' he smiled. Alright. This should be fun. |
Muggle studies! A lesson she didn’t found that hard to follow because of the obvious reason that she herself was from a muggle family! But as a Slytherin herself too she knew that it wasn’t that smart to talk freely about her heritage what, of course, was normal! She had hated most of the muggle kids she knew from home and only her family she liked. So… Well… Let’s say that was curious about today’s lesson and to ‘learn’ about something she probably already knew. That was, actually, sometimes funny, especially to see how some of the pureblood kids really didn’t seemed to understand a thing about muggles! Entering the classroom her eye fell immediately on the object covered with a sheet and, frowning she wondered why almost EVERY lesson she had attended had been started with a hidden object under a sheet or a blanket… Praying her eyes away from the hidden object she nodded at the teacher. “Hello professor” smiled the second year while walking over toward one of the seats near the back of the room to take a place there. |
If she had to decide, Elle felt like Muggle Studies was one of those subjects that was middle of the road for her. It wasn’t one of her favorites, as those spots were reserved for Herbology and Charms, but it also wasn’t one of her least favorites. She felt like she did fairly well in the subject. At the very least, she was familiar with Muggle things, and the morning class wasn’t a difficulty for her either. She’d just made sure to remember to have some coffee with breakfast, and she felt energized enough. Considering it was still rather cold in the castle, the coffee had helped in more ways than one although she wouldn’t have turned down any tea, cocoa, or anything else warm that Professor Stewart might offer. If she offered anything. Upon arriving at the classroom, she didn’t see any hot beverages. Just the professor’s desk draped in an amethyst cloth, along with something else. “Good morning, Professor Stewart,” she greeted the woman as she’d walked inside, giving her a smile before making her way over to a seat near Nat. “Morning Nat,” she added as she settled into her seat. As if they hadn’t had the chance to say that before they’d left the dorms. It didn’t hurt to repeat the greeting. |

"Morning Professor Stewart," would it be wrong if she was tempted to refer to the Muggle Studies Professor as 'Stewart Number One'? Who's bright idea was it to hire people with the same surname? Then again, there were two Newton's, so perhaps it was more common? But at least with the two Newtons, one was male and one was female. Also, what was Tenacius doing poking around at the covered things. "You probably shouldn't poke at what's under the fabric before time. You know professors like to conceal stuff and then reveal it shortly into the lesson." It was like this game they had to test their patience level or something. Taking a seat in like the third row - because it wasn't TOO close where she'd seem like an eager nerd - but not too far away, Skylar fiddled with a pencil as she waited. Did she mention that using pencils were the weirdest of things in regards to muggle studies? |
Kimi entered the muggle studies classroom and said "Good day Professor Stewart" he took a seat in the middle of class and got his things out and waited for the lesson to begin |
"Morning," Dalton muttered quietly, nodding at the Professor as he headed towards the back of the classroom, pulling off his beanie as he went. It was so nice to be in the room that was so warm, because the corridors where draughty as anything. And so he sat with his back toward the fire, enjoying its warmth on his neck. Soon, he'd be warm enough to take his cloak off. He didn't question the covered sheets, didn't even raise an eyebrow at the hidden secrecy and surprises - he'd gotten used to it over his years here, and besides, the Seventh year was almost done with the Castle, and his curiosity had run out. Or maybe he was in a bad mood for other reasons. Who knew? |
If you were to ask Daisy Carden's opinion, she would very quickly tell you that if you had to hold classes in the morning, 10 AM was definitely the right time for it. It gave her more than enough time to properly wake up, get a monster of a breakfast and then make her way to the classroom. "Morning, Professor Stewart!" She greeted the woman happily, attention then being diverted to the large purple cloths hiding stuff. OOOooohhh, that looks interesting. She made her way to her desk, curiously glancing back at the covered items. Impatience was such a bad trait for a Slytherin. |
Muggle Studies was Kitty's favorite class, by a long shot. "Good morning Professor Stewart, how are you? I can't wait to see what we will study today." Usually she tried to sit right in the front row so as to be one of the first students to answer a question. This time, however she moved to the back left and sat down, a bit farther away from the others than she usually was. Then she tossed her newly dyed silver hair over her shoulders and stared blankly forward. |
Why did so many lessons seem to involve tables covered in sheets? It wasn't that Olly necessarily minded... but he likes knowing things. He didn't like being kept in the dark. And it seemed to him that curiosity wasn't rewarded here at Hogwarts. When he had tried to investigate the mysterious sheet in one of their Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons he had been shocked. Literally shocked by some invisible fire field. So when Olly saw another mysterious sheet he did not approach it. He just stared at it grumpily, with a look that bordered on glaring. He went a took a seat, pointedly ignoring any and all mysterious sheets in the classroom. |
The first thought Olivia Philips had upon entering the Muggle Studies classroom was... What was it with Professor' covering up everything with brightly colored sheets? First Hirsch, then Vance.... And now Stewart... Clearly, a precedent was being set, but the blonde Gryffindor couldn't bring herself to really care about it too much. Which was probably evident in the way she simply took a seat in the back of the room, lying her head down upon the desk. Others were speaking and mingling, but none of that appealed to her. In fact, Liv was just returning to lessons after an extended stay in the Infirmary... and that very dramatic History of Magic class. So, as a byproduct, the blonde wasn't really in the mood for chitchat. Her head was still achy and fuzzy, but she didn't want to miss anymore classes. Anyway, Olivia was just going to sit here silently until things officially started. Hello, Professor Stewart. |

Pulling her items out to get ready for class, she kept eyeing the desk curiously. "What do you think is under there?" She asked Janelle, waiting for the class to begin. |
Cassie made her way up to the first floor after breakfast having made sure she had everything she needed for Muggle Studies before she left the dorm. No point going all the way down to the ground floor and all the way back up to Ravenclaw Tower and back down again for the class. Waaaaaay to many stairs and certainly not enough time and energy to make it worth while. "Good morning, Professor," she greeted with a smile at the woman by the door before stepping into the classroom The fourth year taking note of her classmates already there as well as the hidden surprises around the professor's desk. Ooooo a mystery!! Moving to take a seat, she opted for one near Olivia who seemed quiet. But it was still good to see the other girl who had appeared absent for some things. "Hey," Cass greeted quietly herself as she sat down and got her stuff ready for the lesson. |
Rooney would have been late if he had not ran from his dorm to his Muggle Studies class. He had had a free period that morning and had let himself sleep in...a little bit too much. As he had reached to snooze his alarm once more, he clocked that it was much closer to 10am than he needed it to be and had to throw himself up out of bed and into the nearest pieces of uniform he could grab. Actually, he was pretty sure that he had two socks from different pairs and neither of those pairs were his. The only thing that he was sure was his was the robe as it had his badge pinned to it. Hair unruly, the Prefect almost fell through the door...completely out of breath. "H..hi Profeh.. Professor!" And then he slunk to take a seat, rearranging himself and tucking his uniform the right way. Was that a pink eye mask on the top of his head?? |

This was alright, right? Ex-boyfriends and girlfriends were allowed to sit together........ right? "Hi!" The now sixteen year old lowered her voice to a whisper. "... I can move if you want." |
Muggle Studies was one of Henry's favorite electives mostly because he found it relatively easy as he usually knew what was going on. Plus Professor Stewart was pretty nice. He lingered in the doorway a moment, his eyes surveying the room as he looked for a place to sit. He eventually chose a seat near the front, smiles for everyone around. Oh and.. "Morning, Professor." Though his mind was on other things, he did vaguely wonder what the lesson might be about. Watching movies in this class was usually his favorite, but it didn't appear that was what they'd be doing today. No sign of the projector, not even a projector shaped lump under the sheet. |
Sitting with Liv :3 Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis was a class Carlton knew. He knew this. He didn't know what a wand core was, he didn't know any charms or spells or why his drawings didn't count as runes but Muggle Studies? This he knew. THIS HE KNEW! He knew muggle studies because he was one! Well, almost anyway. He knew muggle stuff, he'd practically spent the entire semester in the Fun Room because it felt like home. Carlton pranced into the room, beaming and looking around him curiously. He spotted professor Stewart and did a little bouncy jump of excitement. Oh hai. "Good morning professor! It's a good morning, do you have a good morning? Because it's a good morning." Carlton was a ball of excitement and sunshine today, because MUGGLE STUDIES. He took his usual spot in the front of the class and eagerly started to unpack his notebook and quill. He was so ready. SPOILER!!: Mama After unpacking all his stuff he looked around him at the covered objects. INTERESTING. Carlton spotted a familiar blonde in the back of the room and frowned, concerned. What was she doing all the way over there with her head bent down like that? He'd missed her, she had been in the hospital wing for so long. He disliked that A LOT. Although it was one of his favorite classes he scrambled up all his stuff and switched seats to go sit by her. He put all his things, neatly on the desk next to her and dragged his chair so it was riiight next to Liv's. If she didn't raise her head soon, he was prepared with his quill to take notes for her. "You can sleep if you want to," He whispered, glancing at professor Stewart to make sure she wouldn't overhear him. "I'll cover for you." No worries, mama. I got your back. |
