Lesson: CoMC I As usual, care of magical creatures lesson was taken a place at the backyard. But there's no desks and chairs were provided. Instead, the professor provided mats for the students to sit on and a clipboard for their writing. There's no sign of certain creature that they were gonna learn today. Professor Hernandez loved to reveal it later as a surprise. Waiting for the students coming in, the CoMC professor stood leaning at the standing blackboard with a cup of coffee on his hand. The lesson would be in 30 minutes so he hoped that the students would come in join him soon. OOC: Hello and welcome to the first OOC lesson of Care of Magical Creatures! Keep in mind that this is NOT the first lesson of the term considering that it's end of October already. The lesson will be continued in approximately 22-26 hours from this post! ^_^ Class progression: 1. Greetings and Question #1: When you were sick, what would you do in order to make you feel better? 2. Student Responses and Question #2: Signs and Symptoms of Sick Creatures. 3. Responses, drama and mini activity time! 4. Main activity time! |
One of her favorite classes, though she wasn't sure after a certain barn issue if she was considered one of his favorites anymore "Hello professor" her voice was quieter than usual when addressing him. Though she wasn't shying away either. Her eyes looked around, first one here? That was interesting. "What do you have planned for us?" Finding a seat on the mat, she hoped there was a warming charm on it, if not maybe she'd add one. The ground had to be cold. |
Janelle enjoyed her stroll down to one of her favorite classes. She loved Care of Magical Creatures and was excited to find out what they would be learning today. When she finally arrived at the "classroom" area, she found that she was one of the first to arrive. "Hello Professor Hernandez", she said happily. Whatever they would be doing, she knew it would be fun. Spotting her fellow seventh year, Janelle greeted her with a wave. "Hello Natalia", she said before finding a spot by an empty mat. She sat down, readied her things and began to look around for clues to the topic of the day. Waiting patiently was never her strong suit. |
Care of Magical Creatures? Sounded like fun to her! Olivia had always been fond of creatures (both muggle and magical) so this class naturally peaked her interest (or so she hoped it would). She made her way to the backyard where class was planned to be held and felt relieved when she saw a few students already here as well as the Professor. Great. She was in the right place! "Hello Professor Hernandez!" she said with an excited smile before nodding towards the other students. She wondered what they were going to be doing today! |
Wiggling his bum, Matt walked into the CoMC area and looked around at the mats and whatnot. He loved the fact there were no desks, and he half marched, half continued to wiggle his bum in a dance-like fashion as he made his way to one of the mats in the middle of the area. The Gryffindor gave both the older girls a nod and waved at the professor. "Hello, hello, everyone! Good daaaay." Aaaaaaaaaaaand he sat down with a loud thump near the person who had the same nickname as his brother: Ollie. "Yo." |
SPOILER!!: Solo And like every famous Solo throughout the history Did he just 'yo' her? What? Who? How? When? Why? WHAT?! Confused, she quirked an eyebrow for a fleeting second at his choice of word and then grinned. "Sup." Life was too short to over analyze everything. "How's it going? You seem to be in a good mood." She liked it when people were in good moods- it generally made it easier to get through the day with little to no drama! |
Before coming to Hogwarts, Sinead had whole-heartedly planned to enjoy every lesson, not to mention come top of the class in all of them. And she'd tried- she really had. Unfortunately, she'd just never really been at one with nature. The first part of class was usually fine; she'd read up well enough in the textbook, and she was always keen to answer questions. She just didn't really understand why they had to do the practical parts of the class as well. It wasn't like she was ever going to become a dragon wrangler, or breed Krups, or whatever other weird jobs these people would do- a theoretical knowledge was more than enough for potion-making or whatever she was interested in. Yet here she was, sat on a scratchy mat on the cold and rather damp ground, waiting to be harassed by some other horrible slobbery animal. But because she was such a good student (really, the professors must love her) she still made her way to a mat as near the blackboard as possible and attached a fresh sheet of parchment to her clipboard, ready for note-taking. That much, she could manage. |
Natalie didn't like animals. Not dogs, not birds, especially not bugs. So, she also didn't really like this class, especially when the teacher made them sit on the GROUND. At least there was a mat? But still, the bugs could crawl onto the mat and UP her skirt and, ugh. The thought made her cringe. But her mum said she HAD to go to this class, no matter what. It was "mandatory" or whatever. So, Natalie went, even though she didn't want to. She came outside with her bookbag and went to find the class. When she arrived she spotted one of the girls she shared a dorm with. "Hi, Sinead," she said to her fellow Slytherin before sitting down on the mat beside her. Hopefully she wouldn't mind the company. |
For being october it was surprisingly warm. Well to Jonas it was. He walked out to the field and was glad he wasn't late like ib flying. Oh god that was embarrassing. "Hey professor!" he grinned. |
Creatures. Now this was a class Zoryn could get behind. But she hadn't made up her mind on the Professor yet. He was interesting. That was 'mom' for... weird. See Zoryn was picking up the lingo. She understood what things meant (sometimes). With an extra skip in her step, the wild child made her way down to the barn. "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Professor!" she sung as she gave the man an ENTHUSIASTIC WAVE."It's a GREAT day to learn about unicorns," she gave him an encouraging sort of nudge with her elbow. WINK WINK, NUDGE NUDGE. GET IT? let'slearnaboutunicornstodayPLEASE. ....... Zoryn was allowed to do that....... right? Ahem. "Also, how come we never have desks?" It was a reoccurring theme at this school. "Are they illegal at Hogwarts?" Just saying. Also WHERE TO SIT?????????? There were too many choices. It was doing her head in. |
Jonas sighed and pintched his nose at the cringy enthusiasm the first year had. Didn't she realize some of them care not to hear that? "Maybe because desks aren't needed during this lesson??" he deadpanned. |
SPOILER!!: Janelle Cassie had to admit, she quite had enjoyed Care of Magical Creatures for the past three years and so far this term hadn’t been a detriment to her feelings on the subject. Cool animals, fun lessons and time in the out of doors were all great. She might be a Ravenclaw but that didn’t mean she liked all her classes to be boring lectures and the like. All ready for today’s lesson, the fourth year made her way down the grounds to where they usually met up in the backyard. Sure enough, the professor and a double handful of students were already gathered there. “Hello Professor,” she greeted Hernandez with a polite smile as she came close to the group. The Ravenclaw taking in those already gathered as she debated where to set up. Janelle seemed to be the only fellow housemate surrounded by Gryffindors and Slytherins including the girl from DADA so she made her way over towards the older girl. “Hey,” she greeted with a friendly smile as she lowered herself down on the mat. The younger girl then taking out some parchment and locking it in the clipboard near her to be ready for the class to begin. |
Ahh Care of Magical Creatures, Leon enjoyed this class immensely, though the older boy found himself missing Professor Draper at times. He had loved their blindfolded hunt through the maze a few years ago, though the Winged Horse lesson last year had been pretty fun as well. "Hello Professor, How are you today? " The 7th year asked as he walked into class and sat down on a mat and looked down at the clipboard.. Hmm, he wondered what they would be studying this class.. |
Care of Magical Creatures wasn't his strongest subject. But it was still a class and any class was exciting as far as Maxton was concerned. Yay learning! The first year made his way to class excitedly. Mats and clipboads, okay that was different. Maxton found a mat by himself, sat down cross-legged and waited patiently. |
FINALLY a lesson she knew she liked! No useless lessons about predicting the future in any way or a lesson in which she didn’t needed to pretend to actually work! No, this was a lesson she liked to do because it was, for starters, fun and useful! With Vlam safely hidden in her pocket she walked toward the professor who was standing before the blackboard and she smiled while nodding at the teacher. “Hello” she greeted, still smiling. What were they going to do today? Looking around her to spot some animals she was disappointed to see that there were no magical creatures around… Hmm, so she needed to wait and… Let’s say that waiting wasn’t exactly something she was good at, waiting and, of course, being patient… |
Humming a merry tune under her breath, Kitty made her way down to the Care of Magical Creatures class. It was a nice day and a gentle breeze was blowing through the air. As she approached the class she stopped humming and gazed curiously around to see if there were any signs on what creature they would be studying today. "Hello Professor Hernandez," she greeted the professor cheerfully. "How are you? I can't wait to see what we're studying today." She moved to sit down on one of the mats, going into a yoga pose as she did so. |
"Hi, Natalie." Sinead flashed a brief smile to her dorm-mate, shifting her bag over to make more room for the other girl to sit. She kind of had the impression that this wasn't Natalie's favourite class, either- which made two of them. Something to bond over, at least. Maybe this was the level she would have to make friends on; just touring the castle at random didn't really seem to have yielded her a lifelong bestie, yet. ... Although come to think of it, that had probably been what she was doing the first time she had a proper conversation with Natalie. Hm. Maybe it wasn't such a bad strategy. She'd had a few lessons with Zoryn and despite never having talked to her, she knew enough to realise that the girl was seriously annoying. However, she did have a point there- they could really use a few more tables in this school. All the teachers were just too progressive for their own goods. Though... to be fair, maybe they had an excuse in Care of Magical Creatures. With a quick glance around to see if the lesson seemed to be getting underway yet, Sinead leaned towards Natalie again. "Do you know what we're studying today? I hope it's not too... messy." She could do without that right now, really. |
SPOILER!!: Cassie Janelle was busy scanning the room when she heard a friendly voice. Turning around, she saw a familiar face. "Hey yourself Miss Cassie", she said, returning her housemate's smile. "Are you ready for a little creature fun?" Janelle knew that she was. The younger girl had her clipboard ready to go, as did Janelle. They were Ravenclaws after all. Checking her watch, Janelle knew that class should be starting soon. It looked like they were only missing a few students. Any minute now, the mystery would be solved. |
Roo had a NEW love for this class after his OWL exam and therefore he was SO EXCITED to take a seat on a mat and set up his notebook against the clipboard provided. As he sat cross-legged, Rooney GRINNED at the Professor and gave him a wave. "Hellllllllllooooo Professor. What are you drinking?" He gave the air a sniff and gave the man a smirk. So this was how Professors got through teaching their classes and coping with the students. Sneaky coffee cups of firewhiskey... It was a good plan, really it was. If the air didn't smell so much of...coffee. Ah. Coffee. Rooney wanted coffee. |
SPOILER!!: Janelle Miss Cassie. She found herself chuckling slightly at that. “Uh huh…I am ,” she remarked with a nod at the question. She was ready. As Janelle seemed to be as well, given how they both had their stuff ready for when Professor Hernandez eventually got them going. Birds of a feather? “Any thoughts on what today’s creature of choice will be?” Cass asked, passing the curious question to the other girl. Could be almost anything for all she knew. |
CREATURES! CREATURES! CREAAAAAAAAAAAAAATURES! His legs never could move fast enough for the first year's taste when it came to this particular subject. Maybe he should speak to the Headmistress about receiving broom permissions so he could FLY down to each lesson. MUCH faster and more efficient than his legs - which really need to be LONGER so he could take longer strides. Leg lengthening potion...THAT was what he needed! He really needed to start writing down all his brilliant ideas...because he kept forgetting them. It was hard to fit so much in his still developing brain, okay? "GOOD MORNING, PROFES-S-SSOR!" Derf greeted with his usual enthusiastic wave. "Don't suppos-s-se fere is-s any chance of us-s-s working with dragon eggs-s today...is-s fere?" Curious minds needed to know these things....for reasons... But given there was no indication of dragon eggs anywhere in sight - unless the professor was using a Disillusionment Charm to hide everything...which was a cheap trick in the first year's book - he was going to assume no. Still, never hurt to ask. |
Care of magical creatures being one of her classes of course she would be there. Since Magizoology was now a possible career path for her. The blonde made her way down to the backyard where the Care of Magical Creatures lessons were always held. She got there, she waved to the professor "Hello. Professor Hernandez." She was excited to find out what magical creatures they would be working with today. She headed on over to the mats and found one to sit on "Hey Nat. Mind if I sit with you here?" Since she didn't get to sit beside Nat in Arithmancy. She would sit with her in this class. The blonde snorted at the young Gryffindor girl (Zoryn) and her silly questions. "Yes. desk were outlawed years ago." She replied with a chuckle. Clearly Kat was hanging out with too many Slytherins these days. |
What was with all these classes outside and classes where there weren't proper chairs? Was that a magic thing? Once again Slate was really questioning, well, pretty much everything to do with this school. He nonetheless nodded a greeting to the professor before plopping down... on a mat... like a small primary school child... about to take a nap. His inner sarcastic voice was just screaming "funnnn" at him. |
So maybe they didn't use desks at Hogwarts at all? Carlton was more and more convinced they didn't and he didn't mind one bit! He was a natural at CONMC - Care of Non-magical Creatures, but the magical ones? He wasn't sure about that. It was always exciting to attend the classes though. Unless the creatures were scary, then not so much. "Hello Professor Hernandez!" Carlton gave him a wave as he plopped down on one of the mats. His eyes searched around them for any |
Olivia didn't really know what to think about these mats, but at least it would be better on her bum than those usual hard seats provided in most lessons. Also, the fresh air was a nice addition to the day, as she stepped into the backyard area, head swimming slightly. There'd been more nightmares the night before, but that was neither here or there. She were here and ready to participate. That's all that mattered... Taking a seat, next to Carlton, she smiled towards the professor and his cup of coffee. Coffee.... Man, the Gryffindor could really go for some tea. "Hello." It was a general greeting. |
Quote:
And don't worry about the mat. He had cast special warming charm so their bums wouldn't get cold. Quote:

Ah, poor girl who get her hopes high. Too bad that Jordan had to break it today. "Miss Spinnet. Clearly it's a beautiful day. But I think we will learn about unicorns sometime later but not today." Sorry, kiddo. And he didn't want to comment why he provided desks for today. Quote:

He didn't know if Derfael was originally hyper or because he consumed too much sugary cereal for his breakfast. With his calm, manageable tone, he returned the boy's greeting. "Good morning, Mr. Ashbury-Hawthorne." And dragon eggs? Not today, kiddo. Quote:
Quote:
Oh, maybe it's just a trend of the newly-sorted Snakes. "Mr. Ryker. I hope everything is okay." That's all he needed to say. Quote:
"Hello, Mr. Lewis." He nodded at the young boy. Okay, maybe he needed to wait for a little bit until he could start the lesson. Quote:
"Good morning, students. And welcome to another care of magical creatures' lesson. " He said. "Okay, so you guys have to understand that in magizoology, sometimes we also need to deal with sick creatures and how to make them become healthy again. And that's what am I going to teach you today." Yup, a basic creature healing. "But before we started, I would like to ask you this. When you were sick, what would you do in order to make you feel better?" This was not a difficult question, was it? OOC: Class has started, and please don't announce that your character is late or I am going to take points as the IC consequences. The class will be continued in 20-26 hours ^_^ |
SPOILER!!: Liv <3 Usually Carlton sat by himself. A friendly wave here and there but usually he was on his own in class. So he was surprised but over the moon when Liv joined him. Yes, he was so happy. So, so happy. He shone up when Liv sat next to him and flashed her a wide smile. Did everyone see that? Did EVERYONE see that? An older student chose to sit next to him. And not just any older student. Liv had saved him (and his fire babies) in the last Herbology class. He depended on her very much. "Hi!" Carlton gave her a loving look before turning his attention back to the professor. Class was starting! SPOILER!!: Prof. Hernandez Carlton hesitated. When he was sick it usually involved remedies such as hot chocolate and movies. But he doubted that was something Professor Hernandez did with the magical creatures housed at Hogwarts. Or maybe he did. Carlton didn't know the man. So he raised his hand. "I like chocolate." He said nodding. Noticing the expressions around him he clarified; "When I'm sick. When I'm sick, I like to drink hot chocolate and watch movies in bed. That makes me feel a lot better. But I don't know which magical creatures that would work on, Sir..." He wondered if it would though? In his heart, he hoped there was a magical creature out there somewhere in the world that felt a little bit better with hot chocolate. That would be cute. "I would like it to work for them too." He added, imagining one of the creatures he'd read about in the textbooks sipping a hot drink and watching Star Wars. CUTE. |
The blonde Gryffindor was so ready for this. Healing creatures was the main reason she wants to study Magizoology when she went to university. She was practically bouncing in her spot, next to Nat of course. She was already writing down some answers for the professor's question but would just give one out. No need to be a know it all anywhere; they were frowned upon. "I'd take a potion and get lots of rest. Also drink lots of fluids," Tim nodded her head a bit. At least that was her way of getting better. Her friends and mum would drag her to a healer against her will. Tim had wanted to be one before settling on being a magizoologist, but she hated going to them when sick. Irony. |
Ooh. Hattie liked this question. Not that she liked being sick but she knew the answer. "Well I go to my mom. She's a healer" So Vannie often knew what to do to make her better. It was quite handy having a mother as a healer really. But there were other things she liked doing when she was ill. "But I also like getting cuddles from my dad, and eating cheese and potato pie" That was proper food to eat when she didn't feel very well. But now she was feeling like she was missing her dad, which she did not like at all. She made a mental note to write to him later today. Maybe he'd come to Hogsmeade to see her. She would really like that. |
Junia didn't get sick often, but when she did, well, she was a biiiig baby about it. It wasn't that she didn't want to be strong and tough, but her throat would start to get scratchy and her body would ache and she wouldn't get much sleep-being sick was so hard! Luckily, she had a mum and dad who took excellent care of her. "Potions and tea and lots of rest, Professor." The third year nodded solemnly. "Company helps too, I think. Just having someone there to help take your mind off being sick." ...And to cater to your needs. That as well. |
SPOILER!!: Cassie When Cassie asked Janelle what creature they might be working with, the older girl paused for a moment. "Hmmm. That's a good question. I don't know, but whatever it is, I'm sure we'll be up to the task." She gave her housemate a wink. Of course they would. Cassie's question made Janelle think. There were so many creatures that she had enjoyed working with so far.......the hippogriffs, the winged horses and of course the crups. Just then, Professor Hernandez began to speak. It was time for class to begin.....at last. Janelle did not have to wait long to find out what was in store for the class. Creature healing. Janelle was all ears and very excited about the topic of the day. When the first question was posed, she didn't have to think about an answer. Raising her hand, she began to speak. "In my house, it was always chicken soup and ginger ale. That was sure to make you feel better." That and mom's TLC, never failed. |
and a wave for Carlton Quote:
She looked around to see if she could see anything that the professor had brought to class, but her eyes stopped on the familiar boy that had accidentally smacked her in the face with his backpack. Carlton, that was his name. Natalie tried to make eye contact with him and then gave him a little finger-wiggle wave. Quote:
"My mum always makes this special tea for me and it makes me feel better." There was probably medicine in it or something, but Natalie didn't care. It always helped, especially when her tummy hurt. |
NO UNICORNS? Zoryn's face FELL (to the ground) (well it would have if it could have) (she was disappointed though). (#dramaticlion). AND he didn't even answer her question about the desks. Which Zoryn thought wasn't very nice. Professor Hernandez was a meanie-face. It was officially official. Quote:
HA! That'd definitely show him. Quote:
"Liiiiiiaaaaaaarrr," the first year crossed her arms and plopped herself onto a mat nearby. She wasn't exactly upset, she was just a tad deflated. But once they started playing with the unicorns Quote:
......................... Sick creatures? Could sick creatures still run around and play? Zoryn wanted to ask, but then she remembered that this Professor ignored questions. So she didn't. "Skip school!!" It was the BEST part about being sick because everything else wasn't so fun. But getting to skip school, that was INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! Made her feel better in no time, tbh. |
"'m always in a good mood, mate." Matt grinned at Olivia before turning his attention back to the professor whooooo was just starting the lesson. A question that didn't really involve theory and stuff! The gryffindor shot his hand UP! "I eat LOOOOOOOOOADS." Boom! "It gives me the energy I need!" He said, fist pumping with both fists. ENERGYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! |
Learning to care for sick creatures? Well that was something Skylar had seen enough of at home that today's class should be a breeze! Though she did wonder why the creatures at Hogwarts were sick? Did the professor make them sick for the purpose of the lesson or was there something else wrong? As for what she did at home to feel better; lots of things helped. Hot tea, which was already mentioned. She cringed at the first year from the apothecary when she said 'skip school'. Seriously? "Rest. And take a hot shower or bath. Being clean always helps to increase my well being." Sky said, sort of surprised no one had suggested that yet. |
Leon tilted his head a little bit as the Professor spoke, listening intently. Creature healing? That sounded pretty fun and he was curious as to how it compared to people healing. Seeing as his step-father was a healer. A small smile tugged at the corner of Leon's lips at the Professors question, and he listened to some of the other answers that were being given. Tea, rest, chocolate? Well that wasn't even remotely good for a cold! In fact it could very possibly make it worse. And eating tons? The older boy just had to shake his head.. Leon raised his hand to answer the question. "We had sort of a tradition in my house when I got sick, My mom and step dad would come into my room and camp out on my floor, we would watch movies and play quiet games and my step father would read to me. There were potions and tea and clear soups as well, but it was being with them and snuggling my cat that helped me feel better. " He said with a warm smile. |
Sinead looked up at Professor Hernandez with wide eyes as he addressed her. Something sounded a little weird in his tone, but maybe he was just tired or something. That's why adults drank coffee, right? "Good morning, Professor; thank you," she said sincerely, settling herself on the mat- and okay, it wasn't really cold at all. Must be charmed. It was still a little itchy, though. Sinead nodded fervently at Natalie's words and opened her mouth to reply again, but before she got the chance Professor Hernandez began the lesson and she sat upright again, quill poised over the parchment and forehead creased in intense concentration. At least it sounded like they'd be learning something useful today. Actually, it could be a pretty good lesson. As long as somebody else held the creature still while she healed it. Natalie was even smaller than her and seemed no less keen, but... well, they'd figure something out. The Professor's question was a little offbeat, but she was sure he was going somewhere with it and she was never about to pass up a chance to put her hand up in class. "There's this... kind of minty oil which stops my nose getting blocked, and I go to bed early." Because her mum always made her, but it did make her feel better, much as she hated to admit it. "And I like to sit and read. With my cat." That was a recent addition, but an important one- she'd had a fierce cold at the start of term and he had kept her good company in the Common Room. Actually, cats were about the only acceptable magical creature, as far as she could see. "Professor, can we heal humans with what we learn to heal creatures?" |
Henry had recently been thinking more about Magizoology as something he might study after Hogwarts. It was important to think about those sorts of things, he thought, now that he was a fifth year and had to take OWLs and had to decide what classes he would continue at NEWT level. Of course, he had every intention on being an amazing professional Quidditch player, but it was probably important to continue his education too. So when Professor Hernandez mentioned the term Magizoology, the fifteen year old sat up a little straighter on his mat and thought about the question. He knew things that made him feel better when he was sick, but did they do the same things for creatures also? He wasn't sure. He also never knew Chewbacca to be sick, but maybe illnesses were subtle or infrequent in kneazles. Anyway. He raised his hand, intending on giving an answer, but slowly lowered it as he heard the contributions of his classmates. Extra rest and juice, plus some potions would have been his answer... and maybe some TV in bed if he had been at home. But as those and more had already been said, he didn't feel the need to repeat anything. What else could really be said? |
"Sleep, Professor." It wasn't a lie. Rooney Bronwyn was well known for sleeping if he ever felt like he was coming down with anything. "And eat fruit when I'm awake." He had to keep his energy levels up and get as many good things into him as possible. But usually his sister wrote home as soon as he even got the slight hint of a sniffle and his mother had all sorts of things sent over to help him get over it. And then he'd just sleep....but only if his homework was done and he had nothing better to do. Maybe he wasn't actually known for sleeping when ill. Huh. |
Jonas sighed and eyed that one first year gryffendor. The cringe, it burns...but he focoused on teh lesson at hand instead of lashing out at her like he knew he would shortly if she kept up the way she was acting. "I'd drink lots of orange juice" he said. |
Thinking back about home and when she herself had been sick the last time she remembered what her mum always did for her and she smiled. “My mom always put me to bed and makes me warm soup to eat and ehm… She also brings me to the doctor if I’m really sick and not getting better quick” she told the professor while nodding to herself. She wasn’t sick that often but when she had gotten sick her mom always did the same thing… |
Quote:
She was, but she didn't want him to know. "Professor, we use Potions in my house. Food and drinks and hugs don't make you well. Potions do." She paused. "But I also like toast with honey and peppermint tea." |
Kane was SO EXCITED for this class - but also a little terrified. Because according to that Newt Scamander's book, there were some TERRIFYING creatures here in England. Hopefully they'd be eased into the creatures, though...and wouldn't be thrown at like, a dragon or anything right away. He raised his hand. "If I were sick I'd probably drink some orange juice. Vitamin C and all that stuff," he explained. |
Colt was literally raising his eyebrows at the Professor. So the topic of the lesson was basically taking care of sick animals? What could possibly go wrong besides getting diseases of course. He figured he might give it a shot, can't be that bad when the time he visited his cousin Kace's farm and had to take care of the pigs. He thought of ideas of what would he would do to make himself feel better. Well if he could get out of his bed, he would make himself soup. He heard the younger guys saying about eating and such. He wasn't gonna repeat that. He shrugged and muttered, "You obviously you sleep a lot to fight off what's inside you.." There lots and lots of sleep. That is what this slytherin does. In his nice squishy bed that is. In fact he wished he was in it right now.... |
Ooh, this sounded interesting. Were they going to be caring for sick animals? She raised her hand when it was her turn. "Personally I eat as many fruits as possible when I'm sick. Generally the only sickness I ever catch is a cold, so resting, drinking water, and eating fruits are what I do. If it hardens my throat too much, then I go to the Hospital Wing for relief - but usually I don't have to do that." Kitty pictured herself feeding a sick, adorable Niffler some pears. |
What would he do? Well...that one girl's answer - the bread roll Slytherin from the food fight in Defense Against the Dark Arts- with potions was pretty accurate...although mum preferred to drown him in herbal teas. Dad had to put his foot down more often than not to give him potions when he had caught something REALLY bad...like the time he had gone into the pond after midnight when he was really REALLY little because he was trying to catch the elusive large round white rock that only seemed to make its appearance on the pond once a month. Which then turned into a little mini lesson on the moon and its phases. Could hardly blame him for not knowing. He had only been three. But then his thoughts wandered to OTHER things...like chicken soup...which he personally did not eat because animal meat...but chickens...chickens...CHICKENS! He had it all figured out. Now...where were the toads? They were totally going to be using chicken eggs and toads today. He had it aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall figured out and was now bouncing eagerly on his mat. And totally forgot to answer the question. |
Oh wow look the head boy decided to make a class. Nat shot him a glare as he found his seat. She sat quietly as the rest of the class got there as well. Her mat was warm and so was her coffee so she was a happy seventh year. Turning as the professor started class she frowned a bit thinking that there could be and most likely would be a sick creature they'd be taking care of in the lesson. She hoped it wasn't the horses. Especially Apollo, she'd be really upset if he was sick. When he asked about what they got when they were sick some of the answers made her do a double take? Hot Chocolate? Was that actually good for the stomach when upset? If it was she was going to put that on her list of trying the next time. So many answers that Nat happily stuck with drinking her coffee and stayed quiet. |
Brent had a question. A serious question. What was UP with this school and its lack of desks? Literally every single class had a pillow or mat to sit on, and Brent just wanted a desk. He glanced around in disbelief. Literally. Every. Single. Class. Duuuuuude. He had just opened his mouth to greet the professor, when the lesson got good and underway. What did he do when he was sick. He looked over at Katy and nodded. "I agree with her," he said, raising his hand. "There's a potion for almost every sickness you can get, and I know we borrow some of the ingredients for those potions from creatures." Also, Kane? Why such a Muggle response? You know you took those potions, too! Brent adjusted his position and got comfortable on his mat. If he wasn't going to get a desk, he was at least going to make the most of his mat. |
"I just continue sleeping and keep myself warm after taking the potion when I'm sick. Sometimes I watch some-" James quickly shut his mouth, yup no need to tell anyone about 'that'. Ahem. "...uh funny shows if I get too bored." Yeah, lets go with that, internally smirking. Okay, so what was this question related to anything about studying creatures. Brent did give a good answer, though. |
There were a lot of ways that Juno helped herself to get over a sickness. Usually it was with a potion, but she also would sleep a lot too. She quietly raised her hand, and when she was called on commented, "Well, Professor, usually I just take a pepper-up potion. They help loads. But if that doesn't help, I sleep a lot, drink a lot of water and orange juice, and eat soup." Yep, that was basically what she did. Juno rarely got sick, but when she does it's usually a really bad cold or flu. She hadn't ever needed to go to healers because her mother was proficient in healing magic. |
Quote:
So, sharing a little smile with her friend, Olivia reached over to fluff his curly hair. "Doing well, I hope." They were still on for practice sometime, weren't they? Quote:
Also, sickness? Merlin, her mum cracked the whip when it came to colds and the flu; assuming they were talking mild illnesses and not anything truly dire. "I take Vitamin C tablets." And sometimes her mum would force feed her the most disgusting potions imaginable, but... Olivia wasn't too bitter about that. They did usually work. ".... and I'll reaffirm the popular answer of rest." Oh, how she wished she could get some of that. |
Etta blinked at the question. Hmm. What would she do if she were sick? Mostly just eat a lot of healthy food, read books or... basically not do anything? Since being sick is just an excuse to be lazy? Ahem. She couldn't really say that aloud now, could she? She paused for a moment as people answered questions, before raising a hand. "Sleep, mostly? Drink a lot of water too. And eat healthy.." uh?? Sensible answer, right? At least, that's what she thought. She relaxed back in her seat, absently doodling in her notebook as she listened to people giving answers. |
After listening to the students' answer, Jordan decided to write them up on the board. Quote:
"The difference of handling the sick creature versus the healthy one is, we need to give them more attention, just like when we were sick we wanted our parents look after us more than usual." It's just the nature. "And also. sometimes I would like to separate the sick ones from the healthy ones because 1) It would be better if their sickness not to spread to the others and 2) It would give them better space to take a rest and heal." Moving on to the next part, the professor then throw another question. "Can anyone tell me how to see the differences between sick creatures and a healthy ones?" Like based on they physic or behavior. You can give me a specific answer for certain creatures like... maybe some of you have experience when your pets getting sick or just a general ones. OOC: Second question already! Catch up post is always allowed as usual  and class approximately will be continued in 20-26 hours ^_^ Have fun and be creative with the symptoms etc. |
Most of the answers her peers had given made lots of sense and they did seem applicable for even creatures. Jotting down the list into her notes, Skylar considered the next question a moment for how to tell the difference between sick and healthy creatures. She presumed some of the physical attributes were similar to humans, as she reflected on when creatures were sick at home. Yes, separating sick from healthy definitely helped speed recovery, as well as not spreading the sickness. "Uh well, sick creatures, similarly to humans, like to mope. They're not as energetic as usual," Sky answered, raising her hand. |
Sick creatures. Huh..... "My dad once had a niffler. The thing didnt feel like raiding our china cabinet when it was sick" Jonas pointed out as he raised his hand. |
It was interesting to hear everyone's "when I'm sick" traditions. Some were familiar, others not so much. Janelle agreed with the professor when she said that sick creatures would require more attention. She knew that she could be extra needy when she didn't feel well. It was time for the next question and as the professor presented it, Janelle thought for a moment. What was Mikey like when he didn't feel well? The Ravenclaw raised her hand and began to answer. "When my crup is sick, he isn't his usual playful self. He tends to sleep a lot and wants to stick close to me." |
She raised her hand again. "Most animals and creatures when they are sick won't be as active as they normally would be. If an animal starts closing its eyes a lot or just stays in a corner and rarely moves, that's a sure sign it's sick. There can be other signs too depending on what the sickness is, such as redness in certain areas of the body or not feeling hungry." Her mom used to own parrots and she'd tell Kitty all about how they behaved when sick. Of course parrots weren't magical creatures, but the principle was the same. "Do we have sick nifflers, professor?" Because Nifflers were adorable. |
Ash always Ketchum up xD SPOILER!!: Ok Zoryn said skipping classes and that got the Curly Top to laugh a good laugh. Yep he'd do the same thing. Sleep. Sleep and eat. Which means what he does in the summer. SPOILER!!: Ah Tenacius would know this well, given all the kinds of creatures he cares for, big and small, at home or at Hogwarts "Loss of appetite is usually the first indicator Professor, its true for practically all creatures, magical and mundane. Eating is a primary need, so them taking a pass on the munchies? Yeah somethings definitely off." |
Oh. Brent felt sort of bad now. He hadn't even been thinking about the creatures being sick. He had only mentioned something about how they can be used to get ingredients for potions to get the humans better. Oops. He shifted his line of thinking from sick humans to sick creatures. "I read something about sick birds once," he said, raising his hand. "This was specific to birds kept as pets and not the ones out in the wild. I read where they'll sit low on their perches or even just hang out at the bottom of their cages when they're sick." he had no idea how to tell when a wild bird was sick, but he imagined they didn't do much flying when they were sick either. |
She felt lucky that she hadn't yet had to deal with a sick Prince Charlie-her cat-but Junia did read up on some of the signs to look for just in case. Responsible pet owner right here, people. After listening to some of her classmates' answers, the third year raised her hand. "Sometimes you can tell by how they're breathing, professor. Like, if they're breathing more heavily than usual or wheezing when they breathe. Those are indicators that something is wrong." They were like humans in this way. |
Carlton didn't really have anything to add to the other's answers. But then he thought back to the time their dog had sneaked up on the kitchen table and eaten a whole bag of nuts. She did not feel good after that. He raised his hand. "When our dog ate something she wasn't supposed to, she lay in a corner and didn't want anyone to pet her at all. She was almost agressive, Professor. And that's not like her at all." He leaned forward. "And then she pooped all over the house." He stage whispered. Before they'd managed to get her to the vet, it was just poop everywhere. His sister had cried. |
Awesome they were moving on. He saw on the board the Professor writing the notes for them. He nodded and thought the notes were logical. Now the head boy heard the next question. Hmm still on the topic of sick animals huh? He wondered if that is what they were gonna do. All he knew is that he wasn't cleaning up their poop by any means. He would def let the first years do that one. He heard the other students answering and they seemed to know a lot about animals. They used crups and dogs a lot for examples. He began to think of another animal that he encountered. He half raised his hand and said, "Usually cats when they don't feel well usually throw up a lot more hairballs and other things..." Things he didn't want to mention. He figured that is probably what the professor was looking for. Time to go back and doodle some more. |
Catching up Well.... then yes, first years were so dramatic. Kat chuckled watching the girl call her a liar. Really she was just kidding with her. It was definitely something that a older student would say to her if she asked the same question. Oh well. And now the class was starting, Yes, She listened to the professor start talking about how magizoologist had to take care of the sick creatures. So magizoologist were also like a muggle veterinarian. Then the professor asked about what they did Kat just sat there listening to the others answers. All of the answers that was being given was pretty much what she did when she was sick. she raised her hand to answer. "Get as much rest as I can." As the lesson progressed, she continued to listen. She was excited to see what animals they would be taking care of. Though it was sad that they had the sick creatures. She raised her hand "They might not come when you call them like they normally do." Once one of her horses were sick and they called and called for her to come. They had to go looking for her and when they found her she was very sick. Luckily she got better. |
Ok this was boring. Where were the creatures to be loving and having fun with? Where was the things to LEARN?! Roooooooooney sighed and then shoved his hand up into the air to answer the next question. "Professor, my dog at home gets really bad farts when she's sick. That's usually how we know. And my cat here, at Hogwarts, sleeps on my head when sick." He shrugged, having little more to answer as he was just in one of those moods again today. Funny how these moods were more frequent as the winter approached... |
Sick animals? Now Kane wasn't so sure he liked this class...he hoped they weren't going to have to take care of sick animals because that was just going to bum him out! He hated seeing animals in pain! He raised his hand. "Well, if dogs are sick, they might pant a lot. So some creatures like crups probably pant as well to show they're in pain, or lay down, showing they're vulnerable," he explained. |
Sitting beside Hattie, catching up CoMC was one of the classes that Noelle didnt have to try hard at. She lived on a farm that contained muggle and wizard animals. More muggle since her father was a muggle and he was the one that owned the farm. Plus, it was outside and Noelle loved being outside any chance she got. She was seated by Hattie and listening to all the answers about the question "What do you do when you're sick?" That was easy. "If I'm at home, Mom usually helps me out. Takes my temperature and then giving me a homemade potion.. Mom was brilliant at potions. It was a wonder why Noelle had to try so hard to be good at it. Noelle's attention turned back to Professor Hernandez as the second question was asked. "It depends on the animal and how they are feeling. But usually, their coloring is a little peakish and their energy levels are way down." Like humans. |
The difference between sick and healthy animals. Hmm. Etta jotted down what the professor said before raising a hand and answering, "Well, they look rather dull, don't they? Some animals get a little restless too." At least, her dog did. SIGH. The mention of dog!cuddles suddenly made her feel a little homesick. She missed her home quite a bit, she realised. Not as much as she did during the initial days at Hogwarts but still.. the girl turned her attention back to the book in front of her, hoping she didn't look as sad as she felt. |
Gotta catch up! She grinned at Matt and was about to reply when the lesson began! Oh boy. She was certainly excited to see what they would learn today. Olivia had remained silent and listened to the lecture as well as the other students who had voiced their input to the questions. Interesting... She continued taking notes. Ways to help people when they are sick... Then the Professor moved on to sick creatures. Oh no! The idea of a poor creature being sick, like her poor Crup (Chewy) or her dog (Mr. Bennett) saddened her. Yes, sickness was a natural part of life but sometimes.... sometimes creatures didn't... recover. She bit her lip and stayed silent. Note taking time. SPOILER!!: notes Differences between creatures when they are sick or healthy? Hmm... Well there was the time Mr. Bennett got awfully sick as a puppy and barely ate half of his bowl of food for dinner. That was a sure sign that something was wrong. "When a creature is sick, sometimes they lose their appetite. Loss of appetite can indicate that something is wrong whether it be sickness or perhaps stress or something else even." That's what the vet had told her brother and her when they had brought Mr. Bennett to the vet. It made sense to her and seemed applicable. |
Leon was all ready to talk about what happened when his cat got sick, but most of what he was going to say had all been covered. So instead he just nodded along to what his classmates were saying and jotted down a few notes on his clipboard.. SPOILER!!: Leon's notes There. Leon put his hand over his notes as he watched the rest of the class. It wasn't like he was trying to be Hugger-Mugger and keep his notes from the rest of the class, it was just comfortable to keep his hands there for right now. |

"Sir? When my cat hurt her ickle baby paw, she was favoring it. So sometimes there are some really obvious physical signs that a creature might be displaying." |
Differences between sick and healthy creatures, hmm? Probably lots of differences, it was safe to assume, and the other students had provided many of them - some of which were a little gross, but that couldn't be helped if they were true. What else could she add? Rula thought about it for a little bit, jotting down a few notes as she did so, before finally raising her hand. "I'd guess birds that are sick probably wouldn't sing as much as they do when they're healthy. Or maybe they'd make a different sound if they did try to sing." Just a guess though. |
So they really were going to be working with sick animals today. Or at least a sick animal. She wasn't sure if there were a few or just one. Oh she hoped there wasn't more than one. What if it was all of one creature, maybe they had a plague or something. That wouldn't be good and if they did have that, the professor, she would hope wouldn't have students working on them. She glanced at Kat for a second who was sitting right next to her and then her brown eyes scanned the rest of the area. If the creatures were around they would have to be here close by. So maybe she could figure out what they were working with before they were told. No such luck seemed to be happened and it was her turn to answer the question, "Professor I think body language is a very good start to figure out something is wrong. If you work with a creature long enough you'd realize when something was off. The winged horses for example if they weren't having normal behaviors you would start looking for other symptoms. See if they were walking correctly, their wings weren't dropping. Also animals run hot as it is, but if they start to fever we would really know." |
OH OH OH HE KNEW HE KNEEEEEEEEEW! Shooting his hand up into the air, the first year waited not-so-patiently for his turn to speak. He had A LOT to say on the subject and really had not been paying all THAT much attention to his classmates' answers so there was bound to be some repeating in the forthcoming ramblings of the aspiring magizoologist. "WELL," Derf began, sitting up a bit more where he sat - because good posture was important when you had important information to share. "Fere are loads-s of differences-s-s, and a lot of fose are not all THAT different from us-s-s. Liiiiiiiiiiike...behavioral changes-s-s! Just like us-s-s when we are feeling s-s-sick...creatures-s-s in general will change what is-s-s s-s-s-seen as normal. Like like...maybe a niffler will s-suddenly loos-s-se interes-st in s-s-sniffing out and collecting s-shiny objects. Fat would be a HUGE red flag that the niffler was unwell...maybe had a s-s-stuffy nos-se so it COULDN'T s-sniff things out...and s-s-some aquatic s-s-species of newt will not want to go into water when fey are sick." Hold on. He wasn't done. Not even close. "Also...in general...changes in physical appearance! A healthy creature would haff ears-s-s fat s-smell clean - IF fey haff ears - bright eyes-s-s, and s-shiny and full coats-s or feathers or s-s-scales...or semipermeable glandular skin! Um...Kneazles-s and crups-s and most land creatures-s will haff pink gums when healthy! So...if a creature s-smells funny...compared to normal...fat is-s anofer sign....or if feir coloring changings - like how we look more pale or red becaus-s-se feverish when we feel bad - or fey lose fur or feathers-s-s...unless we are talking phoenixes-s-s approaching Burning Day. Fen they aren't SICK sick but just getting ready for rebirth sick." He paused for a moment to catch his breath, fingers still doing the air quotes on that last sick because phoenixes didn't get sick really. "Los-s-ss of appetite is-s anofer sign OR not drinking water...which is somefing you would have to obs-s-serve over a couple days-s-s and not just by LOOKING once. S-s-same with creature secretions! You can tell a lot from fose...which CAN s-s-sometimes be related to a s-s-swollen tummy...not like...the BIG tummy you get from eating loads." Should he keep going? He could totally keep going. He had only been talking in BROAD terms so far and not toooooooo many specifics. Or maybe he should stop talking. He was sort of a little light headed from forgetting to take proper pauses between words and sentences to breathe and was feeling a tiny bit dizzy. So...involuntary silence it was. |
Zoryn was especially proud of her answer even though the Professor put a question mark by it on the board. She also saw her GryffinDad Prefect Tenacius smiling at it, which made her EXTRA proud of her answer. He was AWESOME. And shared his cookies. And was overall the BEST EVER SO YEAH. Zoryn loved him. ”Healthy creatures don’t vomit!” she said, waving her hand in the air SUPER enthusiastically before she was picked to answer. ”But sick ones might.” It wasn’t exactly a fact… But it COULD be true. And it sounded pretty great to her. But also it was a vague question. Zoryn didn’t like those. There were SO many possibilities. And now she regretted her answer a little bit. |
Quote:
"Would you shut up already?!" he snipped at the girl advancing (lunging? I'm not sure the right word) towards her in the process. |
lol Quote:
And all the sudden after giving her most genius answer EVER, she was being yelled at. For no apparent reason, either. This kid just liked to be angry, it seemed. 'Cause he was the same meanie from before. And what he said made the Gryffindor very, VERY mad. Which was very apparent given the scowl she wore on her face. And before she knew it the boy got very close and Zoryn did the most mature thing she could think of...... And sunk her teeth into his shoulder. Because taking a BITE out of someone's shoulder was definitely the proper way to handle this situation. 100 points to Zoryn Spinnet. Alright, moving on. Ahem. Nothing to see here folks. Just your normal everyday, rabid first year defending her honor. La la la la. Soooooo how bout them sick creatures though, amiright? |

Jonas and Zoryn (and the Prof fo 'sho xD plus Nat and Colt) Tenacius was pretty much all ears in this discussion because CREATURES, which is the second most constant activity in his life after FOOD, so when there was a voice that rang in the air sounding like it was snapping at someone it was natural for him to turn his head and take notice. And what he saw was the Slytherin guy Jonas and his very own cubbie Zoryn doing their version of the Tyson-Holyfield match asfasdfsadfsadfasf!!!! "ZORYN!" the Gryffindor Prefect leapt to his feet, rushing towards the pair, intending to keep the young Gryffindor from further harm. Is the Professor seeing this? He's hoping Nat and Colt will take care of their own lil Snake because him decking someone from his dad's old house would be a w k w a r d. |
Getting attention of professor XD Harriet was carefully listening to everyone's answers as she tried to think of her own. She wanted to be lovely and unique. And she was going to answer, but then she could distracted by what was happening in front of her. A slytherin boy was suddenly shouting, and then getting bitten by a gryffindor girl. "Woaah..." The girl murmured, blinking as she looked at the pair. That was not good. "Uh... Professor I think we have a problem here..." She murmured, since that Gryffindor prefect had rushed over, but hadn't exactly gotten the attention of the professor. This could turn nasty quickly, and that would not be good. What was also not good was that she had forgotten her answer. |
The seventh year raised her hand before answering, even if she hadn't thought up a complete answer just yet. Though some people had already given the answer she was thinking about, maybe she could add something else to it? Wow, Tim was off her game today. "When my dogs were sick, they sneezed a lot and had mucus. They also didn't eat much and laid in their beds for the most part of the day," Tim was little the last time they were sick that bad. Her parents kind of had to force feed them their medicine since they were as stubborn as her mother was. Just as she kept thinking of something else to add, there was more commotion than usual. The blonde looked over to a boy and a girl causing it and raised an eyebrow. She then saw the girl bite the boy's shoulder and couldn't help but snort. "Looks like we have our own little junior fight club here," She said, but not too loud for the group over there to hear her. |
This discussion on sick animals was a strange one, but the Gryffindor supposed it was material that would always be relevant. Kinda like in the muggle world with human beings. There would always be a need for doctors and nurses, because people would always get sick, unfortunately. Sickness was just one of the unavoidable aspects of living. It was undoubtedly the same for magical creatures and mundane animals. Like her Gus. There wasn't anything magical about him... "My ermine got a rash once, and couldn't stop rubbing himself around on the carpet to scratch at it. So.... I guess other animals could get irritated skin, too." Could that be tied in with hair loss? If an animals itched the hair and fur right off their own bodies.... ....and Liv was rolling her eyes in a severe fashion; at everyone involved in that situation. She was here to distract from her own personal problems by learning something. Needless to say, it was a very different approach from this particular Gryffindor blonde; the master of disruptions and loud noises. "Could you guys not?" |
pretty sure the professor is NOT going to be a happy unicorn. Well Jonas. Loooks like you created quite the stir up for your self huh? Well...shoot. Jonas backed off though some as some of the students got involved. Though, he was still fuming with annoyance, he didn't say anything though to make the situation better or worse which might make it ultimately worse. He just continued to glare between the Gryffindor whom had bitten him and the prefect who had been the first to try and break up the fight. He knew though that soon, Hernandez would get involved. Jonas would be surprised if he didn't get detention for this. |
Zoryn, Jonas, and mini activity time! Seemed like the students already knew the sign and symptoms of sick creatures. So the next activity wouldn't be that difficult for them, right? Okay, now it's time to... ...... Jordan couldn't help but witnessed the fight between Spinnet and Emery. "For the love of Abraxans...." He muttered under his breath and pinched the bridge of his nose. Why there were SO MANY teenage dramas that he witnessed lately? First, the Head Boy vs Head Girl at the barn and now... happened to his OWN class. Thank Merlin. "ENOUGH!" Jordan raised his voice and snapped to them. Hopefully none of his vein bursting because of this shenanigan. "I am not amused with both of your behavior. Now Mr. Emery," He turned into the Slytherin guy. "I don't know what in Abraxan's tail was wrong with you and Miss Spinnet. I recommend you next time to respect your fellow students and their answer or... just ignore them." Maybe it was a secret crush or something else. Jordan didn't speak teenagers language so he clearly had no idea about it. "And Miss Spinnet..." Now he turned to the Gryffindor girl. "Biting is not allowed, at least in my class... Actually, any kind of physical brawls." He shook his head in disbelief. "Ten points from both of you. But next time if you two cause any mayhem and disturb my lesson, I am banning both of you for attending my lesson." Okay, could they move on to the lesson now? "Alright, so I think you guys can identify the sick creatures." Jordan started speaking about their lesson topic again. "Most of you get the answers right. The first sign is behavior changing: It can be they become lethargic and not as energetic as they used to be, and for some creatures, they tend to be a little bit more aggressive." Like some dogs who got infected by rabies, they tend to be more aggressive and wilder. Moving on to the second one... "And the next sign is loss of appetite. Some of you mentioned about some creatures eating things that they were not supposed to eat, usually it's also the sign that they have a digestive problem, and then to throw up too. Physical changes could be a sign of sickness too, like loss of furs, discoloration, or there's pus or something else coming out from their ears or eyes. That could be signs of infection." Then he wrote the signs and symptoms of sick creatures to the board. Quote:
And no, he did NOT let these creatures sick. All of them were already in his recovery. "Here are some supplies that we're going to need." Jordan said as he revealed some boxes contains of clean drapes, feeding bottle, kneazle tonic, special milk for kneazle, special liquid food for kneazle, small buckets, kneazle-size blanket and chew toys. "Everyone please grab the supplies from here. And then we're going to move our lesson to the barn." Jordan gave them the instruction. "But before you enter the barn, I recommend you guys to change your shoes into the boots, and wearing mask to cover your nose and mouth is also recommended. I have provided both of them at the front door of the barn." He told them. "And also, please wash your hand before and after handling the creatures. You can do that at the tap water that located outside the barn." Hygiene is a must, right? "Now, let's go." The Professor then lead the way. OOC: Main activity time! Basically your charrie only need to grab the supplies, follow Jordan to the barn, wash their hands, change into boots and wear the mask. One post is enough for this. We will explain the instruction for main activity in (hopefully) 24-26 hours, depends when will I get home from work tomorrow ^_^ If you guys have any question, feel free to poke me. |
post 1 Great, another set of points taken from Slytherin. Wonderful! But the professor got what he asked for and rhat was peace as fear he wpuld recieve detention for this, Jonas didn't say anything theough the rest of the lesson as he grabbed the supplies that were needed and followed Professor Hernandez to the barn for the rest of the activity. |
There wasn't anything very obvious to add to what everyone had already said for the next question; as all of her points were mentioned, Sinead dropped her hand. To be honest, her main first hand experience of sick animals was with her cat. And he'd just responded by biting her. A cat after her own heart; she never liked people buzzing around and irritating her either. Then again... maybe he was less like her and more like Zoryn, based on when she launched herself across the room to bite somebody?! Sinead could hardly believe her eyes- okay, she might be kind of loud and annoying, but the same was true for about 90% of Gryffindors and they didn't feel a need to go around mauling people in lessons. While Sinead was trying to learn. Her disgust at the fight only heightened when the Professor took away points- from Slytherin?! Okay, maybe he'd pushed back a tiny bit, but he hadn't bitten anybody! Actually, though, looking at him- hadn't he been late to their flying lesson as well? He was singlehandedly destroying the good name of their house! She glared daggers at Jonas as she stuck her hand into the air and loudly protested. "But, Professor- he didn't start it! And she bit him! It's not fair to take points from Slytherin too!" All the protests in the world probably wouldn't change any of that, though, so she had to settle for skulking over to the barn and preparing herself for the lesson. She wasn't exactly keen to put on the grimy boots, but it was better than getting her new school shoes dirty, so she tugged them on with a wrinkled nose and scrubbed her hands to within an inch of their lives, before masking up and making her way to the entrance of the barn. |
*sprinkles loads of mentions within* Zoryn hardly understood why the boy was so surprised. She only locked her jaw harder when he gave her a shove, releasing shortly after when Tenacius came to her rescue. Uh oh. Was he gonna be mad? Clinging to the older boy who had just rushed over, Zoryn gave him an innocent look (what, she was!!). ”It wasn’t my fault, I had to,” she whispered to her Prefect. ‘Cause the meanie Slytherin was yelling at her AND he leapt towards her AND Zoryn HAD to defend herself. Nod. Nod. Nod. It wasn’t fair that she looked like the bad guy here. Nuh uh. Aaaaaaaaaand the boy was making mean faces at her, so Zoryn made mean faces back. HA!!! Epitome of maturity over here. ……………….. Y’know, Zoryn was kind of hoping they could skip the part where the Professor walked over and got all mad and red in the face? Pleaaaaaaase? Because the biting was fun. Clinging to Tenacius was fun. This…. Not so fun. HA. The first year wore a SUPER HUGE, PRIDEFUL SMILE as the Professor castigated the meanie-face. ‘Cause he deserved it. What she was not ready for, however, was getting yelled at too. Luckily, Zoryn didn’t really care about the loss of points (because otherwise she would’ve been bawling). Instead she shrugged. It was worth it. WAIT A MINUTE HERE. ”He did TOO!” Start it, that is. Because it was DEFINITELY his fault. She wasn’t planning on continuing the scene, but Sinead was throwing her under the bus and it was totally THE BOY’S fault. Tenacius believed her, right? Because this made doing all this work stuff a lot less fun. Though she did (reluctantly) get up to wash her hands. ”How come they’re sick?” Did the Professor forget to feed them? Did they ALWAYS have sick kneazles in the barn? It was a valid question, Zoryn thought. |
Rooney rolled his eyes at the protest about points being lost. That was what happened when you were pains in the backside IN class. But he might have high fived the biting Gryffindor later in secret. Good defense mechanism. But still...could people just shut up and get on with their work? PLEASE? Getting to his feet, Rooney followed along behind Professor Hernandez to the barn area. He got on his boots and sat down on the floor to lace them up properly, still baffled by the points protest and even laughing about it to himself a little. Luckily they were going to get to the creatures soon, which was his favourite part of this class. The actual interacting. Yesssss. Roo gave his hands a wash and THEN put on his mask, ready and rearing to go. READY READY READY. Oh wait, hadn't he been grumpy mere moments ago? Pft whatever. |
Harriet raised an eyebrow as she watched what was going on. To be honest Sinead was kind of wrong. The slytherin boy had kind of wound up and shouted at the gryffindor girl. So they had both been in the wrong. But Hattie was glad when the Professor moved on with the lesson. That was what they were here for, meaning it was important! And it was the creatures class so Hattie just wanted to get a good look and get closer to the creatures. She hoped they weren't too sick though. Because that would be sad. Though maybe they could make them better! That would be really good. She followed the Professor to the barn, and once there changed into the boots. This was good, her shoes wouldn't get all dirty. That was important since she didn't want to be trailing muddy and animal stuff around the castle. Then she washed her hands, before putting mask on. Now she was all ready to go see the animals! Yay! |
Jonas sighed. Did she have to point out the obvious? Jeez though, he was on a roll this year. First 5 points taken away in flying now 10 points in CoMC. What's next? Bring it on! But seriously though, he would apologize to the eleven year old later. He shouldn't have been so snippy towards her. Shrugging, he changed into the boots before going inside the barn. |
Mention of Jonas Now this lesson was getting better and better. He smirked when he saw his fellow slytherin telling the little gryffindor Zoryn to shut up. That is something he would do. He chuckled to himself and then being the head boy he was he walked over to his fellow Slytherin and he saw Tenacius break it up. Good on you gryffindor. Being the brave one to act first. He saw Professor Hernandez break it up and scold them. He was going to but he figured the Professor did enough. He tapped Jonas shoulder and muttered quietly, "Good job on that one. I would have done the same thing but I know its hard just keep your thoughts in your head..." Believe me he knew. He wasn't lecturing him too much right? Just give him a warning/experience. Now onto the lesson, he gave Jonas some time to cool off and he heard he needed to get some supplies. Looks like he was gonna have fun taking care of sick animals. He hoped they didn't have contagious diseases. He saw he needed to wear a mask and boots? He shrugged and kicked off his shoes and changed into the boots. He put the mask into his robes and was prepared to go into the barn. |
Junia covered her mouth, stifling a giggle that she skillfully masked as a cough. The drama unfolding was waaaay more entertaining than the discussion they were currently having and of course, she was amused. She was even thankful, seeing as the little scene had moved along the discussion faster and gotten them to the fun part-the part where they actually got to interact with the creatures. She was definitely ready for that. Supplies were taken and the third year changed into boots just outside of the barn, deciding that these particular boots were far more functional than fashionable. Oh well, she could deal. It was for sick kneazles, after all, and sick kneazles made her think of dead kneazles which made her think of Prince West. She was all smiles after that and as she washed her hands and then put her mask on, the thirteen year old made a mental note to write the wrock star a letter about this very lesson later in the week. |
What... was happening?? That girl just BIT him? She was insane! How were they even the same age? All Natalie knew was that Gryffindors were crazy and she was never going to be friends with them. She also knew that she was going to hate this class today. Not only did Natalie despise animals, she obviously would despise SICK animals. And now she had to go take care of them. Please. Why didn't the professor keep them healthy in the first place? Did they really have enough sick animals for the whole class to work on? Maybe someone should call animal control... With a sigh, Natalie pushed herself off her mat, not bothering to join the argument about Slytherin losing points. She didn't want to get involved. So, she went up and got all the supplies she needed and changed into her boots outside the barn. Once she was all ready, Natalie washed her hands and waited inside the barn for further instruction. |
Professor Sick animals? Hmm, she wasn’t surprised to hear this after the question what had been asked but still she wondered if it would be a good idea to bring Vlam with her to those sick animals… Deciding to talk to the professor when she had followed him she started working and did everything she needed to do. Grabbing the supplies she carried everything she needed with her and while arriving she placed her rat on her shoulder so that she didn’t needed to touch the animal after washing her hands because she had a suspicion that the professor wouldn’t like that. Putting on her mask next she was done for the next part of the lesson so… She walked toward the professor, still with Vlam on her shoulder and spoke to the teacher. “Professor, I brought my rat accidently with me, he’s always sleeping inside of my pocket so I’ve totally forgotten that he was there while walking toward this lesson, I only realized that he was here when it was too late to go back... Can I leave him somewhere safe so that I don’t need to bring him with me to the sick animals?” She asked with a worried frown. |
Carlton sat quietly next to Liv as he watched the drama unfold and the professor tell them off. He squirmed uncomfortably, glad he wasn't the one in trouble but also keen to break the tension between the students. Hey, hey, hey remember the creatures? Yay, animals! Carlton was grateful when they were getting up to move around. Maybe this would ease up the others. Because AWKWARD. He quickly got the necessary supplies and washed his hands, looking over his shoulder from time to time. No one would come bite him for taking too long, would they? Outside the barn he changed his shoes and put on his mask. He was ready for some healing of creatures. Ready. Set. Heal. |
Etta barely listened to the professor's instructions as she watched all the drama that seemed to be happening. Drama and biting, too. That honestly made her smile. But ahem, she didn't want to get too distracted. Okay, back to class. They were apparently going to be handling sick kneazles? Aw. That's sad. But the idea of helping them get better cheered her up a little. Grabbing the supplies that were necessary, she changed into her boots just outside of the barn and washed her handle before putting on the mask. All done. Now, they had to wait for the next set of instructions. |

---- Once he was in the barn, he was quiet though as he waited for more instructuon. |
Whoooooa. Noelle furrowed her brows at Z, ready to defend her or just take her aside honestly, when she sank her teeth into the boy. Personally, she didn't blame her. Z was just excited about class, animals, and all of the above. The boy was the one that shouted at her. But still... points from Gryffindor were never a good thing. Ace seemed to have it covered though. Z was hanging onto him like her life depended on it. Noelle went over to them once the professor started leading them to the barn. "Keep your head up Little Z." she whispered to Z, giving her a little shoulder touch before going and putting on the boots and mask. The faucet wasn't hard to find and Noelle washed her hands before entering the building. She was curious though why the kneazles were sick like Z had asked. |
Pen pal and weird girl doing what? Nat stayed in her seat but watched what was going on. This was just ridiculous behavior. She at least had reasons to attack the head boy and by reading his lips just now she might have more reason to attack him later. He was getting glares, oh yes he was. HOW WAS HE HEAD BOY???? She just didn't understand it. Anyway she was over it. Points were lost and won all the time. He would just have to make it up by working a bit harder to earn more. Could they carry on now? She wanted to see which creatures were sick. She looked at Kat as the professor finished up his directions, "So sick Kneazles this could be interesting." She hoped they weren't horribly sick, but they would soon find out. Getting up she made her way to get the supplies and then over to the barn she went. Slipping out of her shoes she pulled on the boots and then put the mask on. Using her wand she cleaned her hands up. Ready for some animal care! |
Awwwww sick Kneazles! At least it was something sort of cute and harmless, not like...sick fire breathing dragons or something. Kane still would have preferred taking care of sick Crups, but these would do for now. And since Kane was definitely NOT about getting any other animals sick, he was going to take this cleaning thing seriously. First, he took off his high top sneakers and slipped on his boots. Then he washed his hands and gathered the supplies the professor had pointed out before taking one of those protective masks as well and tying it onto his face. On to the sick kneazles! |
THERE WAS A LOT HAPPENING! Okay...so not A LOT a lot, but there was an older student lunging himself at Zoryn and then Zoryn was BITING him and then the Gryffindor prefect was rushing over...and then the professor was shouting and taking points (which he didn\'t agree with because Zoryn was clearly acting out of self defense AND Professor Hirsh had told him SPECIFICALLY that physical tactics were fair game when it came to defense! SO THERE WERE MIXED MESSAGES BEING SENT AND ALL WAS CONFUS---- OH THEY WERE GOING TO GET TO SEE THE CREATURES NOW! KNEAZLES! Leaving his enchanted suitcase behind, Derf was admittedly curious as to how the professor would respond to the one Slytherin\'s question about her rat seeing as Scamander had a permanent residence in his own trouser pocket...but dad had set up proper incantations and considering the Hufflepuff was going to wash his hands thoroughly before touching his warty newt again...he wasn\'t all that concern. Nothing airborne was going to seep into his trouser pocket either...so he instead focused on catching up with Zoryn as they headed inside. "Psssssssssst! Zoryn. I know a S-S-SUPER famous Gryffindor fat ALS-SO bites-s-s people," he squeaked excitedly in her ear. So, you know. She was in excellent company. "Alice Fischer of the Montros-se Magpies-s. Biting is-s-s kind of her s-s-signature move!" Because he still was not acknowledging the Odessa part of her name. Nope. But then ANOTHER thought crossed his mind and he lowered his voice CONSIDERABLY as he spoke. Because what ELSE had the urge to bite people? That answer was all too obvious. "Unles-s-s-ss you are a werewolf...fen what just happened it TOTALLY dis-s-scrimination!" The first year just really REALLY wanted to meet a werewolf, okay? It was on his Hogwarts bucket list! Making their way inside, Derf set the supplies he had grabbed earlier down proceeded to wash his hands ... all the while thinking about these kneazles. He then realized that he should have changed FIRST and THEN washed his hands once he stared slipping on his boots, so he would need to go back and do that all over once he had finished...but a thought distracted him. A VERY unsettling one at that. "PROFESSOR!" he exclaimed, his eyes wide with SHOCK at his little revelation. "Why did you WAIT to get fese kneazles treatment? Is-s-n\'t that cruel? If fey are all sick and suffering...s-s-shouldn\'t getting them help come fast and from certified hands-s-s?" Because, well, for one Derf did not trust THAT Slytherin that had tackled Zoryn over an accurate answer with any sort of creature handling. Bloke clearly had some anger issues and a fussy fragile kneazle shouldn\'t have to suffer that. |
