Welcome to your second duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Jinx Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

Professor Hirsch will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 15th of March by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

Ok, Kane had been able to fight a first year. He would have been really embarrassed if he HADN'T, although he had felt bad at how...well...badly he'd beaten Derf. That was dueling club though. Had to start SOMEWHERE, right?
And now, Kane was going up against a stronger opponent, and he was NOT going to go easy on her - even if she was a girl. He figured she wouldn't go easy on HIM either. Clearing his throat, he got himself into his stance after bowing, as per protocol, and then pulled his first spell out of his arsenal - he'd been working on this one too, so hopefully, it would have more affect than it did on Derf.
"Rictusempra!" he exclaimed, sending the tickling charm towards his opponent. And so it began!

Okay so Skylar won her duel against Junia Botros, and this was how she got rewarded was by dueling a younger student? Perhaps he was good for his year though and Professor Hirsch was just testing her to see if she really was good or if it was just a fluke. She did feel grateful that she didn't know her opponent all too well; though she did know his brother, but still wouldn't prevent her desire to win. He might have been younger, but size wise he was about the same, and at least she didn't have to duel a first year, because that would have been a low blow.
Bowing, per protocol, she kept her blue-grey eyes trained on the blonde and just as she stood up straight, she was ready with a swift "Protego!" to deflect Kane's spell back at him. And because of the strong affect it had before, Skylar decided to try the strategy again, her target first on the floor beneath Kane's feet, "Glacius!" and a swift "Muffliato" charm directed up at her opponent.

Ok. Kane had messed up.
He should have gone full out with this one - which was exactly what his opponent did. He should have known better! NEVER GO EASY ON THEM! Even if he lost every duel from here on out - that was a good lesson to learn during his first term in dueling club. Yup.
First things first - he had to deal with that spell that was coming RIGHT BACK AT HIM. Thankfully, it had slowed significantly, and he was able to simply side-step it to avoid being hit. Alright, one problem solved. Now for the Glacius spell. She was aiming at his feet, which was good - he would have had much bigger problems should it hit his HEAD or something. Still, he was NOT planning on spending his duel standing in one place with a block of ice at his feet.
"Protego!" he yelled, sending the freezing spell back at HER feet. He would have liked to try and aim it for her head - as payback of course, nothing personal - but he didn't have time. The next thing he knew, he had gotten hit with her final spell. SMACK. Right in the face. Nice. He stumbled a bit, realizing that he was now hearing a very annoying buzzing noise in his ear. Ah, well, that made things difficult. Time to practice his lip reading skills...
Now for his turn. "Furnunculus!" he exclaimed (rather loudly, cause he couldn't hear and all) and aimed right at his target. Then, he followed it up with one his favorite moves. "Immobulus!" he added, sending the spells back to back and hoping that at least ONE of them stuck. He had to start making some big moves NOW if he had any hope of making it out of this duel a winner...

Hirsch's reason for this pairing? To provide a challenge for Mr Westwood. And to strengthen Miss Diggory up slightly so that she knew that she shouldn't go easy on someone in a duel just because of their age. It was a sad fact, unfortunately.
And yes, Mr Westwood, you should have gone all out.
It did seem as though the boy was being put through his paces - mental thank you to you, Miss Diggory - but he didn't seem to be backing down either. After all, spells were being thrown in quick succession and giving up was just not an option in this setting. More time spent on the duel would've probably only enhanced that thinking but, as it were, the time was coming to a close a little too soon.
Shame.
The shield was struck up and Hirsch made his way out of the shadows. He gave his wand a flick, terminating all spells in the surrounding area. "Well done! That was a short duel, sadly, but both of you have put in a great deal of effort." Which did count for something with him. "Congratulations to you, Miss Diggory, for taking the lead in this round of the duels. And a very well done for your efforts, Mr Westwood."
