Free to join...just message Cassie felt like being quiet today for some reason so she had been merely paying attention as History of Magic began and the topic of the discussion crossed quidditch and the various other sports and games in the wizarding world, not adding her two cents. She learned a few and remembered a few, adding notes as she quietly listened to what was up. And then Professor Newton brought them to an activity she wanted them to complete. The creation of a new game or sport. Cool…it sounded like fun…and she could try her hat at it. Pairs or groups were options and Cass debated whether or not she wanted to. The fourth year glanced around, trying to think of someone that she could work with, noticing quite a few already pairing off. Including friends and acquaintances that picked off her options. So she opted to do things on her own for now. Less talking and collaborating that way which was fine by her at the moment. Now to see what she could come up with, her gaze scanning through the list she had for inspiration. Even if she started fresh, it was nice to keep in mind what was already out there. |
SPOILER!!: los kennings "I like the idea of having two dies because we it ups their chances of landing on a trap or something. And that seems like a fair penalty, actually." Leave it to them to make the game more complex than it actually needed to be. She took note of Levi's head-bobbing and movements, so she reached over to pinch his arm and gave him a look. And as if that wasn't enough, Declan was making eyes at Etta again. So, she pinched him too (harder than she'd pinched Levi.) "Pay attention, both of you." Once they finally seemed to be getting back into class-mode, Althea nodded along. "Okay, chance cards with dramatic penalties, and how about reward cards? Because they need incentive to keep wanting to play." The most important part about putting out a product was customer satisfaction--or, at least that's what she assumed. Althea put her quill down, as Levi seemed intent on being their scribe, and contemplated Declan's suggestion. "You mean like," she looked around before continuing and dropped her voice down to a whisper. "Like they get transported into the game?" That would require some serious magic, but it was a very interesting idea. |

At that comment Juno blushed, smiled, and bit her bottom lip. He always knew just what to say to make her happy. "Forever it is then." She nudged his shoulder. Juno listened to everything Leon was saying. It was a really great idea. She thought for a few moments before responding. "No, no it's a great idea! I love it actually. We should have all the house colors. Blue, red, green and yellow. Blue: feet only. Red: hands only. Green: Head. Yellow:....all three!" It was perfect! But..."What will we call this version of soccer?" That would be the major task: Finding a name. |
Char and Daisy Henry looked up at Charlotte as he felt her hand under the table and he gave her a smile. Did she know how much he appreciated her? She always seemed to know just what he needed. And he really did appreciate everyone's concern for his well-being and their general happiness that he was back from... wherever. He just wasn't sure he always handled that well because sometimes it brought up things he tried to push away or made him feel really awkward, especially when people tiptoed around him. Although Daisy was certainly not doing that. He did chuckle at her words though, appreciating the light humor. "Yeah, well.. I'm not about to give up my position yet," he said with the hint of a grin. He worked really hard for that spot, okay? And that was definitely something he was looking forward to, playing over summer. Oh, look.. Daisy already had her parchment and quill out. Maybe she'd like to keep notes for the group. "Oh sure, there could be more than one ball, definitely," he nodded at Char. He just thought one was a minimum because all of his favorites had at least one, but there were games with more than one too. And he was sure they could come up with something great with a variety of balls. "Maybe the points could be assigned smallest to largest, with the smaller balls being with more points." Since those would be hardest to catch or aim or hit something? Whatever they were going to be doing with this... "And the larger balls, less points..?" Fly around and escape.... Henry thought a moment. "Okay, so.. would players be catching balls? Or trying to throw them at something?" Or something different? Or are they making this too much like Quidditch? Henry chuckled at the thought because that would figure with as much as he and Daisy were into the sport. "Or maybe... it could be like dodgeball, trying to hit the other players with the balls." Okay, he didn't know... just throwing out some thoughts. |

Once again, Kane watched as people started to pair off without him. Pfft. This was always the problem. He was probably just SO awesome that people assumed he was going to be paired off already and didn't bother to ask. He looked nearby and saw a Ravenclaw girl, whom he had seen in classes before but never actually TALKED to, and walked over to her with a smile. "Hey, need a partner?" he asked. She could say no if she wanted to...but hopefully she wouldn't, because he hadn't had any sugar yet today and he was not feeling particularly creative just yet... |

Her focus turned to Skylar as she spoke about some muggle games. "Those seem interesting. How would you play the Hogwarts Monopoly? How would you do the Wizarding money compared to the muggle money?" She was just asking to see if they could expand on the game at all. 'Well Brent and I had just gotten started and we were talking about winged horses. It's kind of one of my passions or at least was until I was kicked a few months ago, but that doesn't matter right now. I just thought it might be neat to think of a game with them." She glanced at the two to see what their thoughts were. |
It was obvious that Juno felt bad for the note passing, and Rosalyn felt bad for that, but rules were rules and a PREFECT knew better. It wasn't as if they had both lost points, but then Rosalyn hadn't seen if the boy had passed any notes in the process. At any rate the reminder was more than enough and they wouldn't be doing that again - not unless they wanted to lose those points. Her attention shifted to the class in general as they started working on the assignment. It was good to see everyone making progress, and she couldn't wait to find out what games and sports they were coming up with! After a little while she glanced down at her watch. "You still have thirty minutes," she announced. Plenty of time to finish up she felt. Not like the idea pitching needed a long time; just enough to get the ideas across and interest sparked. OOC: Great work so far, guys! There are still 48 hours left to finish up. :) |

As for the task at hand… “Did you have an ideas to work with?” Cassie questioned to get the bowl rolling. “I was kinda thinking game since then more people can play it.” If it were ever to be actually developed. Sports seemed limited to those willing to get more than a little active which certainly wasn’t for everyone. |

"Well as soon as we are out of class, I'm giving you a big hug. " He said softly, they could go round and round arguing whose fault it was.. But truth was.. probably best to drop it for now. They could discuss it later.. and he would apologize more.. He smiled as she blushed and he nodded, glad at least his words could help her feel better. "Good! Sounds perfect to me. " He said as he nudged her shoulder back before nodding as she spoke.. He got some parchment out and started to write on it.. SPOILER!!: Notes! Well now that that was written down Leon put his pen to his mouth and chewed on it an bit.. "Hmmmm.. name.. Dazzle ball? Rainbow Ball?" So naming wasn't his strong suit! |
Post 1: Katerina! Unfortunately, the blonde had been too upset (mostly with herself for getting so emotional) to see that others were trying to give her supportive, consoling looks, etc... but what she hadn't missed was her cousin sending tissues her way. Family. Family was a wonderful thing, and despite all the recent stuff, Olivia was feeling closer to hers than she had in ages. With a thankful, watery smile, she took one, dabbing at the corner of her eyes; gathering her bag to go and join Katerina. Yes, she could've chosen to work alone, but... that was the interesting thing. Olivia didn't want to do things on her own, anymore. Those days were gone... and it felt freeing and wonderful. Quote:
Quite honestly, Olivia didn't care what they did. So. |
and some kind of mentions are OTHER PEOPLE WHO STARE XD Quote:
Derf blinked several times at the older girl. "I was-s-sn't calling you a niffler," he squeaked. Although he could probably think of a way to make that into a compliment. Something to tuck away in the back of his mind for later. "I'd call you a Veela if I wanted to s-s-say you were attractive." Just stating a fact. "I meaaaaaaant somefing that us-s-ses nifflers! Like like...Hide-and-Go-Niffler! OR OR OR CAPTURE THE FLAG BUT WITH NIFFLERS?!" And then there were loads of people - Gryffindor people - who kept looking at Etta. And it was confusing and made his tummy squirm like a bucket of worms had been tipped over in it. And then Etta was asking the Ravenclaw prefect if he wanted to join them and Derf was ALL for it. He was still sort of in AWE at how the older boy had been in Astronomy - because anyone that was of the same mindset of Brian had to be more than just NEAT, you know? "Oh yes, please," Derf chirped, nodding his head eagerly. |
SPOILER!!: olly and noelle "Oh... I totally didn't mean to steal someone's ideas" Harriet mused with a little laugh. But there idea did seem pretty cool. Hattie would certainly go and watch this. Though she didn't think that she would go and race in it because it seemed pretty scary. She also wasn't allowed to fly so that kind of put an end to the idea really. "Ooh I like that too Olly" She murmured with a smile. "Like knock out style?" It sounded pretty cool. "And like.... the arena could be set like the quidditch pitch? So that you could see the action when they are flying" Since it would be a bit of boring event if you couldn't see what was going on. |
It looked like no one wanted to join her, which was alright. She'd already got an idea, and she just needed to work on it. So, next came the rules. She figured you'd need a dice... and so she wrote it down. Then... well... she figured the players would throw the dice and according to the colour, would place their extremities in the colour. The boards would hover in the air at different levels. She just couldn't decide where Hopscotch would come in. Orrr... maybe... the boards could be played in both ways? As in, while playing Hopscotch, you needed to jump while hovering in the air without falling down (the boards would again hover at different levels), and while playing Twister, you needed to not only place your extremity in the right place, but also to apply the right amount of weight to keep it in place. Pleased with herself, she wrote it down: Quote:

SPOILER!!: Etta and Derf Rooney was just about to start jotting down his ideas and whatnot when he was approached by a Hufflepuff. Who was paired with another Hufflepuff. With a cautious glance around the room to see if anyone had put them up to it, Rooney actually did consider working with them. Whether he was paranoid or just nervous about being in a crowded classroom again, he was positive that they were just going to be using him for his history knowledge or to ask him a bunch of questions about everything that he didn't want to talk about. But they were younger than he was and he didn't feel like being a butthead to them. With a sigh, Rooney took a bite at the inside of his cheek and looked between the pair before shaking his head. "I'm sorry. I'd just..rather work alone today. Another time, maybe." Bonding with others and having to make conversation seemed like the worst idea ever right now. With that over and done with, he buried his face into his notebook and started to scrawl his own ideas down. He had a few and just needed to flesh them out and then decide on one to submit for his class work. |
SPOILER!!: Liv The fourth year sat back down once she had a partner. She smiled slightly at her as she slid her things over to make room for her cousin. Kat could have worked on her own but she would prefer to have someone with her. She was grateful that Liv had joined her. She was concerned for her, but not going to ask her what was wrong. She knew that Liv knew her well enough that if she wanted to talk about they could after class of course. She was always there to listen. She might even need to talk to her about somethings. Did she want to pitch her broom basketball idea to her after the mention of hot air balloons and dancing? Both were great. Pushing her notebook closer between them. "I was thinking playing muggle basketball, on brooms. But really isn't that basically quidditch without beaters, keepers and seeker? That's about all I came up with so far." She glanced at Liv what did she think? If she liked it maybe they could come up with so rules and such. Or some kind of twist in the game. |
SPOILER!!: Rooney ....... Erm. Okay. Etta gave him a small smile and nodded.. giving him a thumbs up too. Wait. Like, where did that even come from? What was she thinking? Completely embarrassing herself in front of a nice-looking older boy, too. Ew. "Sure, of course. Maybe next time." With that, she nudged Derf with a grin. "C'mon." SPOILER!!: Derf Etta looked mildly confused, not sure why he bought up the topic of nifflers in the first place but he was adorable so--- OHHHH! He was giving an idea for a new game. That made sense. "Okay so.." She pulled out a parchment and quickly started to list out the ideas neatly. "Capture the flag is a good idea, Derf but.. why with Nifflers, though? Why not with magic?.. Not that it's a bad idea. Just wondering.. " She thought for a few moments before her face suddenly brightened. "Oh! How about a magical treasure hunt?" Etta paused to consider how it could be made magical.. Um. "We can hide the treasure using spells, maybe? That would be more challenging, right? " Something along the lines of what they'd learned in a previous class. She tapped her foot impatiently, wanting to come up with a better idea. Meh. |
Nat and Skylar (more to Skylar, since Nat is now in detention lol) Skylar didn't seemed too enthused about working with them, so Brent gave her a slight frown (in a joking way) before giving her all his attention while she shared her ideas. "Merlin," he told her. "You have cool ideas and stuff, but our ideas couldn't be any further apart in similarity." He laughed a little then adjusted his own list, so she could see. "I'm a sports kind of guy. I like racing in the air and throwing around a ball. I can see where that would relate to Quidditch a little too much, though, so I'm game for some new ideas." Maybe there was a way to combine their thoughts? "So I have no idea what this Monopoly is all about, but if we can throw some sports in there somewhere, I'm good," he said. It kind of seemed Nat had an interest, too, although Brent was kind of sad to see their winged horse idea go. Brent started some new notes. What We Have So Far Name: Hogwartsopoly Targeted group of people: Positions: Equipment: |

Oll and Hattie's brains were on fire. "I like that idea. Two plays against two players until the last two remaining. SO how many teams would we have in all?" She asked, using her quill to jot down notes as the two talked. "I also like the fashionable aspect to it too. Like... if Hippogriffs would let people, they could put something on the hippogriffs so that you know who that hippogriff belonged to." She added, not that those were rules or anything. It was just a good bit of information. |
Quote:
Also, she kinda enjoyed that it was just her and her cousin in this small group. Not that she wouldn't turned her nose up at working with others, but Kat was familiar and a safe space. It was sorta necessary for her first lesson back, you know? "We could add more twists. Maybe a few balls could be in play, instead of one... or whatever. And maybe it could be more high stakes? Just things off the top of her head." |
SPOILER!!: hermanos If he was in the business of being honest, and Levi Kenning often was, he had to admit that he was very thankful Declan had seemed to somehow find the time to make friends. Not just because he cared about his brother's social life (or lack thereof) but because watching him silently interact with the same Hufflepuff girl as before was keeping Levi AWAKE. As a reward for his good work, Levi offered Declan and the girl a lot of looks that he hoped conveyed his brother just how interesting the exchange was. He was now in such a good mood (read: slaphappy) that he was willing to forgive Althea's pinching. He was smiling lopsidedly at the whole thing when it became clear it was his turn to contribute. Right. Levi cleared his throat, reached up to massage the back of his beck. "Well, if they get transported into the game and actually have to get through all the obstacles like Declan is suggesting," he offered, "then I doubt they'll be succeeding at all of them in one go, right? Which means they can die--" and at this, he made air quotes, "--so how about we make Althea's cards--I don't know, health points? To help them heal faster?" Levi scratched a side of his face. "I should point out, I'm not sure how we'll be able to do a presentation of this in, how much time do we have left? Twenty minutes?" |
Those cupcakes looked mighty tempting, and Rosalyn couldn't resist grabbing a chocolate one and digging into it. There was no need to worry about any weight gain because she tried to stay active, and that wouldn't be an issue just yet anyway. She'd limit herself to only the one... or maybe take a vanilla cupcake afterwards. Once she was done eating, she looked at her watch again. "Fifteen minutes left." No trying to rush them or anything, Rosalyn just wanted to keep everyone updated on how much time was left for this. That out of the way, she grabbed her vanilla cupcake. Yummy. OOC: There is still a little less than 24 hours left to get the activity done by. :) |

He was just so wonderful. "It sounds wonderful to me." She beamed and nudged his shoulder back. Where they actually talking about their future together? She liked this. Thinking about having a future with him made her more happy than anything else ever could. BUT. They must get work done. No time for that now! Juno watched as he wrote down their ideas. Her handwriting really was way better than his, but it's ok, she couldn't write everything all the time. She watched as he chewed on his pen, and grinned, wondering what he was coming up with. As he spouted out ides, she thought for a moment about his suggestions. "What about Color Ball or Rainbow Soccer? And the rules should be the same as soccer just the addition of the colors....and maybe the penalty of not using the proper...appendage could be 1 point to the other team?" It didn't have to be difficult. "Should we add brooms to the mix too or wands?" That was a thought. |
Carlton was leaning on Rooney (because too much effort to sit up straight without hanging on someone. And that someone was usually him). Rooney had turned down working with Etta and Derf and Carlton wasn't surprised. Not that he didn't want to work with Etta and Derf Quote:
So... Who would Carlton work with? Quote:
None. Why couldn't he think of anything? He always thought of something! Why was his throat dry? The only thing he'd managed to write down was his name. Maybe it was too soon to return to classes. But he was here now, he couldn't leave. Except he could. Professor Newton would understand, wouldn't she? Worried someone would look over his shoulder to notice he hadn't done ANYTHING of the assignment, he leaned forward to cover the table, waiting for those fifteen minutes to be up. Maybe he shouldn't have come to class. He should have stayed in the hospital wing and |
Rooney did not quite understand why Etta looked so disappointed that he did not want to work in a group. She..was aware what happened to him, right? And that in the two months since then, he had not attended any classes until right now? Why would he want to work in a group and overwhelm himself in his first classroom experience since it all? He was glad when she went back to her partner, though and everything felt right for him again. As right as it could when he was in the same room as Olivia Phillips and they weren't talking. As he scribbled out his notes, he felt Carlton still there beside him and gave him a supportive nudge and a shoulder squeeze. "Work with me." Quote:
SPOILER!!: Rooney and Carlton's Work Rooney looked between Carlton and Professor Newton and raised his hand. "Professor, Carlton and I would rather not present our idea to anyone right now.." That involved talking. And even addressing the situation right now was too much for him. |
