"You mean like hot potato?" Declan asked a little confused as he raised an eyebrow. He laughed a little and turned to Althea. "You heard our brother? He wants to play hot exploding potato with his arms." |
Professor and Leon and Activity Quote:
She listened to the activity instructions, trying to hold back tears. Juno was not one to cry but she was a little stressed out. Quote:
At the moment Juno didn't have many ideas, so whatever Leon wanted to do she would go with it. "That sounds great! I know more about Soccer than American Football though." She had played a little soccer when she was younger. She wasn't on a team or anything like that, she just liked to play with the muggle kids that were in their neighborhood. |
kenning bros. Feeling relieved--because her hand had started to cramp from all of the note-taking (she had no idea Quidditch, or magical sports for that matter, was so involved)--Althea turned to face her brothers. In typical Kenning fashion, they'd chosen to work with one another, because really...who else could compare? None. Levi had worked out the most ridiculous sort of game, which made Althea stare, wide-eyed, in disbelief. "You know Levi isn't right in the head, it's just becoming more apparent with each passing year." In reality she had no right to speak; they were all ridiculous and touched in their own way. "What about something similar to Wizard Chess? Like...what is that muggle game called," she tapped her chin as she thought for a moment. "Ah! You know those strategy board games? Like that have the little pieces that you move around and they're war-based? We could do something like that but with charmed pieces." She was thinking charmed in the way of how violent Wizard Chess tended to be. It could be fun to see the little pieces fight against each other. "Or maybe we can do a variation of that one game...Dragons and something...Drapes and Dungeons? No." She'd forgotten the name, but it was all fantasy and make-believe, and people were really into it for a long time. |

He wiped his hands on his robes, then scratched the tip of his nose. "Hm." A war game didn't sound so bad. Levi shot Althea an appraising look. "Would it still be a war game?" This was the part that interested him. "Would it be about who stops the war or who wins it?" He took his self inking quill and scrawled WAR GAME at the center of his parchment. "And assuming it's about winning the war, then what would they be winning?" Land? Gold? |
Olly and Hattie Quote:
"My Dad took me to a muggle horse race before. It had been so fun." All the cheering, the noise, the excitement. That's why the idea sprang to her mind. It was the only muggle sport she could think of at the moment. "Hippogriffs can be dangerous... yes. But that's the beauty. That's the risk. You have to form a bond with that hippogriff. Both of you have to trust each other to finish the race first." Noelle could see people bidding on who would win first. She could see even obstacles being in the hippogriffs way but that she didn't like. A poor hippogriff getting hurt from an obstacle was not in the game plan. She looked at Olly and Hattie to see what they thought. Ideas? Suggestions? Add-ons? |

Sadly though, it wasn't an option right now, the seventh year watched helplessly as she spoke to him and one single tear rolled down her lovely cheek.. "Jun.." he said as he shook his head. "Hey it was both our faults, don't blame yourself. " He felt awful.. and she had been so stressed as well.. Gahhh! "I'll have you forever. " He said softly as he looked at her, hoping to make her feel better somehow.. "Soccer it is then.. Hmmm.. what if the ball was magically charmed to change color? And with each color the behavior of the ball also changed? And there were specific rules, for how you could handle the ball depending on what color it was? Like if the ball was blue, you could only kick it with your feet, if it's red, you have to throw it with your hands, green, you have to use your head.. " The grey eyed boy paused a bit.. "Too weird? " |

Well that was a good thing, if one of Henry's teammates liked her and thought she was awesome. Because yes, Char knew that much. She smiled at Daisy and then took a look at Henry's... his doodles. Teehee. Nice. Okaay so much for borrowing his notes then. She reached for his hand under the desk and gave it a quick squeeze of support before letting go, when Daisy observed he was, in fact, back. She didn't like thinking about it either, really. "Yup, join us, Daisy!" She agreed with that. It was always good to have another perspective, right? Okay.. they were creating a game? Something with a ball did sound good. "Only one ball? What if there are a bunch and they are each worth different amounts of points?" For starters. |
For a Derf and anyone else who might want to join <3 Etta carefully noted down what the professor said. Okay. To come up with a new magical sport/activity? Interesting. She frowned and sat back against her seat, absently playing with the ends of her hair, giving the idea some thought. But first, to be a part of a group. She liked these group activities.. they were fun and the Hufflepuff liked the idea of getting to pool her ideas with friends/classmates. But.. She looked up to see people already forming groups.. and sighed. Standing up, she looked around, wondering if anyone still needed a partner? Or was she going to have to do this by herself? Which would be rather sad. Etta waved a hand rather awkwardly. Anyone? |

WHY HADN'T ANYONE FIGURED OUT WHO HAD DONE THIS?! And why was it still a threat? So many questions. SO. MANY! But it seemed like he was not going to be able to ask them...which made the first year's image of this particular professor even MORE depressing. First she denied his curiosity and DREAM MAKING adventure in going into the Chamber of Secrets - weren't professor supposed to encourage their dreams?! - and now... He had lost that train of thought entirely now...trying to think of OTHER ways to get into the Chamber. Probably would need to Disillusion himself so that he could get around unnoticed. Hmmm...maybe Simon could help him practice in their dorm later.... Quote:

And he TOTALLY already had an idea. Sort of. Quote:
"Etta Etta!" he beamed. "NIFFLERS!" |
Partners anyone? Brent? Nat? Well this was going to be interesting; contrary to previous lessons where they had to create their own Hogwarts House, this time they had to create their own Wizarding Game or Sport. She supposed it could be interesting considering No Quidditch, so having other alternatives might be good. Glancing around for a partner - or at least someone to test her game ideas out on - she frowned when she saw Hattie was already in a group of three. Hearing Brent ask about partnering up, Skylar was about to go up towards him because well she knew he would be awesome at creating a game or sport with her. But then Nat partnered with him and before she could speak up or approach, she took a step back toward her seat, mostly because she wasn't sure she could stomach being in a group with Nat. The head girl and herself weren't exactly seeing eye to eye these days which meant on some level would make for a very exhilarating game... For now she guessed she would just jot down her ideas on her own, unless someone offered to invite her to partner with them. Text Cut: ideas Well two possible game ideas. Now which should she explore more in depth? Biting her lower lip, she stared out ahead of her as she contemplated more ideas .... |
Luckily, Rooney had not seen the whole thing with Olivia crying as he was now flicking through his textbook and taking nothing in. Professor Newton understood somewhat how he was feeling about his learning, anyway. And she knew that he closed off to others and situations if he had to. So it was nice that she was letting him answer questions without full attention. He would be most appreciative of that when he was finally aware of everything happening around him. He listened on and off to what their activity was, glad that there was the choice to work alone or in groups. Today...Rooney Bronwyn wanted to work alone or as alone as he possibly could. Roo pulled out the notebook from the back of his trousers and flicked to his ideas pages. Surely he had something he had worked on one day before... A game, maybe? Hm.. |
They had to create their own game . . . Katherine looked around, but she couldn't see any of her people at first glance, so she decided to work by herself - if someone wanted to join her, they could. She got out her notebook, and thought... what did she like best? Well, she really enjoyed the Monopoly, but... couldn't really see how she could make that into a magical one. Then she found it - a mixture of Twister and Hopscotch, in the air! Heh, quite pleased with herself, she began to write: Quote:

Liv and anyone else? Maybe in some aspects of History of Magic she was on top of her game. Just maybe, or she was lucky that her family weighted heavily in Wizarding sports and games. Her grandfather even worked in the department in the Ministry a long time ago. So she may have a slight advantage when it came to the History of magical sports. She smiled, when Professor Newton, acknowledged her answer and added to it. Oh, they got to come up with their game or sport. Mmmm. This was going to do be a lot fun. Now the question was what was she going to do? She had an idea. Take away the Seekers, Keepers, and Beaters from quidditch and play muggle basketball on brooms....that's basically what it was right? Broombuckets.... Bucketballs... Bucketbrooms? Name that was a small detail. She would worry about those small details like scoring, and rules. Maybe she should go ahead and find someone or a few people and bounce her idea to them, or let them bounce some off on her. Either way she was excited to tell her idea to someone, and here the others ideas as well. Where was Liv? She seemed always seemed to help her when it came to HoM activities."Does anyone need a partner or want to bounce off some ideas.?" She quickly wrote down her idea and few of the small detail ideas she had as well. Then hoping up to her feet and bounced on her feet as she looked around. |
Noelle and Olly SPOILER!!: Olly and Noelle Oooh. Group tasks! Harriet loved these, and it seemed like it was really creative task too! That suited Hattie well. She was a creative person, an artist, so she loved being able to use her talents in situations like this. It also seemed her group was chosen for her, which was good since it meant she didn't have to be an awkward potato and try and find a group. She beamed at Noelle and Olly. "We're the best team ever" And that was totally true. She smiled as she listened to them both. Whilst Hattie liked quidditch, she wasn't the most sporty of people. She was a more indoor, or well she wasn't really into too much activity outside, apart from being outside to paint and stuff. "Ooh... I love that idea Noelle..." She murmured with a beam. "I wonder if you could do flying horse races? So then there would be lots of different types?" Which actually would be super cool. "I think Abrazan's are easier to fly? So would be more accessible to other people to join in?" |
For the Kennings + Mentions of Etta+Derf and Rooney SPOILER!!: STUFF Althea was always funny even when she was being dramatic. Declan beamed at her from around Levi's head. Sure, it was a little amusement at his brother's expense but this wasn't brand new development or anything. Levi and Althea exchanged ideas about a war game. Declan leaned back and drummed his fingers on the top of his desk. That sounded interesting enough. He was more excited about the possibility of actually executing the game than coming up with it and its rules. Would they get to charm the gameboard pieces? "Call it The Conquest," Declan suggested. "The winner is the one who manages to force their culture on other nations on board the most, while at the same time taking their supplies, cultures, and people and claiming them as their own all along." Isn't that like something he read in Muggle Studies before? As he looked around trying to think of any other ideas, maybe even suggestions for rules, he noticed Etta by herself at least temporarily before she was joined by a first year that Declan THOUGHT was named Rafael but he wasn't sure. Ralphie. Yeah. That ought to be right. The Sad Prefect still looked sad and Declan tried to catch Etta's attention. He wiggled his eyebrows at her and kept nodding his head in the direction of the Ravenclaw Prefect. |

"I'd probably be better at mixing things, like Winged Horses instead of brooms for quidditch, but you'd have to not use the bludger, because horses would get hurt. " That's when she noticed that Skylar had looked like she was going to come over. Oh, maybe Nat interrupted a match being made by the powers of class or something. She glanced at Brent and back at Skylar. "Want to join us Skylar?" She wouldn't mind someone else, then maybe her offness wouldn't show too much. |
kenning bros. SPOILER!!: kenning nonsense "Don't be dramatic," Althea chastised--which was rich coming from her. She started to jot down ideas and notes relating to the proposed game. "I think that's too in depth for a board game. But I like where you're going." It sounded extremely complicated and she thrived off of the drama. Despite how tragic war was--not that she actually knew, she'd never been a part of any war or battle or things of that nature--it was the perfect backdrop for an exciting game. Especially one that was filled with magic. The professor had been right to suggest an activity like this; it was way more interesting than talking about Quidditch. "It can be a game of conquest. Whoever conquers the most land, or gold, or whatever we choose wins." She continued to write her thoughts as she spoke. "There can be different scenarios for each game played. You could play a game where the goal is to steal or amass the most wealth, or...you could play a game where the winner is determined by how much they dominated the other kingdoms and their armies. D'you see where I'm going with this?" The board could depict miniature landscape, marked with territories, castles, even moving animals. "Ooh, we can even make it so you start with certain conditions depending on how you roll the die." |
Nat and Skylar As Brent was waiting for Nat to share any thoughts she might have, he happened to glance over and notice Skylar by herself. Oh, and look--she even had some ideas on paper! Granted it was only two ideas, but it was two more than he had. "Yeah, Skylar. Come work with Nat and me," he said, hearing Nat ask her to join. "Yeah, cool. Winged horses sounds fun, and I love flying games," he said. So no bludgers, but what would be the purpose? "We could do winged horse relays? Races and stuff, you know." He looked over at Skylar. What did she have on that parchment anyway? Brent decided to make a list of ideas on his own parchment. Ideas and Stuff * Winged horses * Relays * Other types of races * Whatever Skylar has on her parchment |
Nat and Brent Skylar had been lost in deep concentration as she contemplated the two game ideas she had been working on, leaning toward the Monopoly based one as it could involve more players. That was when she glanced up to see Nat had offered for her to join their group and then Brent too said for her come and join them. On some level she maybe wanted the extra feedback on her thoughts but then maybe not. "Uh yea, sure ... I guess so" she said glancing around as she collected her parchments and quill to move closer to her fellow housemates. "So while I like sports, nothing can really compare to Quidditch. So I kind of went the route of thinking up things for some wizarding variations of muggle games..." she bit her lip slowly. "I'm kind of leaning toward a Hogwarts edition of Monopoly... Hogwartsopoly. Or maybe a wizarding checkers, since we have a wizarding chess ?" "What did you two have? Anything interesting ?" cause you know she figured she ought to be open to their ideas, if they had something ... |
Text Cut: Henry & Char So yeah, maybe stating the rather obvious fact that Henry was back wasn't the best thing to say. In order to be back one had to, of course, go somewhere; Henry hadn't really wanted to go nor did he have the best of times. Still, Daisy hadn't known what to say. Well, to be honest, she knew what she wanted to say but not how to word it without being weird and sappy. So, she settled. "I'm glad. Good Chasers are hard to come by." Which, again, wasn't what she meant at all. But she sent a soft smile his way and moved to get a chair from a desk nearby. There. Had she avoided the sappiness? It was a good thing that none of them seemed to mind her presence because, by the time Charlotte spoke, Daisy was making herself comfortable in the chair she had placed infront of the pair, parchment and quill already on the desk. Now, to work! "I like that!" Henry was right, of course. Ball games were always better. And balls worth different amount of points would keep it fun! "Maybe the balls can be different colours or sizes to differentiate. Oh! They can be enchanted to fly around and escape the players." And since the balls would be in the air, the players would have to use broomsticks. See where she was going with this? |
Quote:
"Derf!" Etta exclaimed happily, so glad to see him. She considered giving hug but decided that that would be a bit much.. so she settled for a beam instead. Wait.. Nifflers? What? What was the context? She frowned. "Erm.. I think I look a bit more attractive than a Niffler." Not sure she could take that as a compliment. .. ANYWAY. "Want to start the activity then?" Quote:

SPOILER!!: Kennings There was a total possibility that in the midst of Declan and Althea's back and forth, Levi's eyes became unfocused and glassy. His mouth parted, slightly, and just as he began to lean a little too sideways, one of his legs kicked forward, connecting with Althea's chair. He couldn't say that didn't hurt but at least he was "Brilliant ideas, guys." He grinned, just as brilliantly. "Proud of your work." For sure! He also for sure needed to head back to the common room and try to at least squeeze in a power nap as soon as possible. "Hmm. Maybe there can be a deck of cards involved that can be used every once in a while that can either help the players or ruin them?" No? "Or perhaps instead of cards we can just self-rolling dice." Levi began to hum under his breath to keep himself awake. "Someone should be taking notes of this." And by someone Levi clearly meant himself, so he went back to his parchment and wrote down what he could REMEMBER of Declan and Althea's ideas. |

"So, like chance cards? Oh no, you came across a hoard of Erumpent lose one turn!" Declan dramatized as he wrote down their collective ideas, and adding notes of his own. As he scribbled and sketched ideas for the way the board would look, he hummed. "Hey..." It was a weird thought but he'd voice it. "What if the players had to face the obstacles literally." |
Quote:
She glanced at Olly. "What do you think? Bad idea?" |
Noelle and Hattie Olly was glad Noelle had an idea, because he certainly did not. And it was a good idea too. Well of course it was a good idea if it was Noelle's idea. He grinned and nodded when she asked his opinion. "I like it, it's a great idea." Hippogriff racing. He wrote that down. Potentially a bit dangerous, but that's what would make it fun. "It could be tournament style. Like only two race against each other, and the winner moves on to keep racing?" He didn't know if that was a good idea or not but he was going to throw it out there anyway. |
