Default History of Magic Lesson One - The Founding of Hogwarts

Even though it is a cold morning, it is not easy to notice upon stepping inside the History of Magic classroom. Professor Newton has added extra warmth by using heating charms though she wouldn't be opposed to placing more if students are still feeling cold.

The seating arrangement is the same as always, and Professor Newton can be found sitting at her desk, waiting eagerly for the students to arrive and take their seats. Of course snacks are provided on her desk as usual, today's being a plate of shortbread that has been charmed to keep replenishing itself. Just because it is early December doesn't mean that Christmas cookies can't be enjoyed, and these ones are shaped like candy canes, stars, bells, and Christmas trees.

Nothing like getting into the festive spirit!

Lesson Progression:
What do you know about Hogwarts?
What do you know about the Hogwarts founders?
Activity time

OOC: Welcome to the first History of Magic lesson! While this is the first class that we are RPing, keep in mind that this is NOT the first lesson of term. I hope you all have read the class rules. Next post will be in approximately 24 hours. Some talking is okay, but PLEASE keep socializing to a minimum. CLASS HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED.

What did he know about Hogwarts? Carlton sat still, blinking a few times. He actually didn't know much. He knew it was a school. He knew lots of people went there, including himself. But professor Newton had said that they could answer anything, so he raised his hand. Anything it was.

"It's cold in the winter because stone." Except for the heating charms cast on the class room. "Also, there's a lot of poop in the Owlery." Where was Flynn...?

Cold and poop. TRUTH.

Facts about Hogwarts?! Oh, fabulous! This was the one topic that Rooney could reel things off about for hours and had been able to since he was six years old. "WE HAVE A FROG CHOIR!!!!!!!!!" Okay, so maybe he had been a little bit excited by it all and had essentially gone with one of the weakest things that he knew. But nonetheless, it was true. And Rooney was a proud member of said choir and had been for a few years now and adored every minute of it.

But he had so much more information to give, and so his hand went BACK up into the air, because frog choirs really weren't all that in the grand scheme of things. "Professor, Hogwarts also has an exclusive waiting list -- well, not a waiting list. But future accepted students list. The quill of acceptance aaaand the book of admittance, I think? Maybe I'm getting the a-words the wrong way round. The quill detects the magic in a newborn and it's allowed to write it into the book if the book is certain they're of proper wizarding talent. I heard that the book sometimes even SHUTS on the quill so it can't write someones name in it. AND we don't accept students that aren't in that book at all." Which meant that somewhere in the castle was a book that held his and Olivia's names on paper...perfectly...together....

Almost like a wedding invitation....

Hah! She knew something about Hogwarts! Maybe it wasn’t exactly that original but….. It was a answer so why not try it? So she rose her hand and spoke with a smile, “I know that my house was founded by Zalazar Zwadderich, he was one of the four founders of the school, although I don’t know the names of the other founders” she continued, not that it was important for her to know, only her own house mattered for her… Sitting down when she had spoke she grinned, so she had given a answer during this lesson! Well, now nobody could say that she at last wasn’t trying to be interested!

HAH!

Matt noticed how her face brightened up when she saw him. WINNING!

He stopped himself from fist pumping because Daisy wouldn't reeeally know the context behind that, SO that would've been strange in her eyes, he thought. At least for now he could PRETEND he was kind of normal, y'know. As you do.

"'m a'right. How 'bout yerselfff?" Was that pirate talk he was doing? He didn't really know aaaand he didn't care that much either. He had taken a pretty good seat for History of Magic and he was happy about that. For the first time in ages he'd enjoy a History of Magic lesson, he just KNEW it.

The fourth year took the time that the professor started speaking to eat some of the shortbread he had gotten for himself. He noticed that Daisy only had ONE. The polite girl she probably was. Matt gestured toward the PILE of shortbread he had brought over with him and spoke as he chewed. "You can take some of mine if ya want." Because he was THAT NICE! But not before he ate some more.

He proceded to stuffing his face. Omnomnomnom.

That had been a veeery vague question, professor, and Matt gave her a funny look. Anything they knew about Hogwarts? Anything at ALL? "It's a very cold castle." He pointed out the obvious, as everybody seemed to have walked into the classroom feeling cold that day. "It's also mental." Just sayin'.

NOT that that was a bad thing, anyway. At least... so far so good.

Good. No sentimental, overly concerned greetings. Just the way Olivia liked it right now.

Carefully removing her notebook, quill, and an ink well from her bag, the blonde Gryffindor set about organizing her materials...mostly for the sake of something to do until the lesson officially began. Some of her peers had taken to mingling and catching up, their voices not quiet (which was annoying), but otherwise, there wasn't anything too remarkable going on yet.

....And the lesson was beginning. She sat up a bit straighter, subconsciously playing with the tips of her fringe. Newly developed nervous habit. In answering, her voice wasn't very loud, but she still hoped the professor would hear. "There are a lot of ghosts who inhabit it, and have for centuries. As well as other mischievous entities; like Peeves, Miffy, and Storm." Their adopted? love-child, apparently. Actually, Olivia thought it was... humbling that they were getting the chance to raise a child. Even if that child was especially troublesome. But then again, all the poltergeists could be considered "troublesome".

Eh, Liv idly doodled a collection of stars in the corner of her notebook page... tentatively glancing at an oddly animated Rooney Bronwyn.

OOC: I'm like 90% sure I already wrote a post here but it got lost apparently so I'll just go straight from where I would have left off, sorry :O

Well- at least it was a question she could come up with an answer to, but what kind of answer? Her knowledge of Hogwarts clearly wasn't encyclopedic, but it was definitely more than she could list off in one lesson. Well, everyone else had already said all the obvious things while she waited with her hand up... she wanted to try to come up with something different from them, at least.

When her turn to speak came, she lowered her hand and began to recite facts at high speed, intent to show off as much of her knowledge as possible. She loved trivia.
"Hogwarts is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools of magic in the world, even though its students are mostly British which is much smaller than most of the other schools. Also some foreign witches and wizards think it's bad to only study magic using wands but it does mean that most people find things easier than they would if they had to do wandless magic. And it's just for students aged from 11 to 18 and you get OWLs and NEWTs if you study here the whole time, which most people do." Everyone knew that. Half the people in the room had taken them, for goodness' sake. What else was interesting? "Also anyone magical in Britain can choose to study at Hogwarts or not, and they don't have to pay for it or anything. That's not the same everywhere."

"Yes! It's COLD." That was Abey (who had, by now, taken his seat, and made SHORT (haha) work of eating his SHORTbread (hahaha)) chiming in, agreeing with that one boy who had already said pretty much the only thing that was on Abey's mind actually. Because it was true. Getting out of his warm warm bed was particularly difficult on days like today, especially when it was to get to a lesson like History of Magic - no offence, Professor........ Other Newton? Yes. That.

Anyway, yes, elaboration. "It's COLD because we're way way way up north, and apparently being north means turning into studentcicles every single day. And it's really windy and haily and rainy and I'm pretty sure I saw snow the other day because it's sooooooooooooo cold. Because Scotland." Sage nodding from Abey. "That's where we are, I think. In Scotland. That's what my brother told me." So actually if he was wrong it was definitely not Abey's fault, but also actually it wasn't Hassan's fault. If he was wrong then Abey would just suddenly have another brother who liked to tell him things that weren't true, and actually it was always that brother's fault whenever Abey knew something that was actually completely wrong actually.

Oh, wait. Hand. Abey had forgotten again, so he quickly raised his hand now, to cover his tracks, and then lowered it again. Smooth.

This pirate talk thing was completely random but Daisy chuckled nevertheless, thinking that it was probable that things got quiiiiiite random around Matt. The boy just seemed to have that aura around him, y'know? "Alright, alright, Sirr." Okay, that wasn't pirate talk AT ALL, even if Daisy pushed the RRR's. NOPE, but it was okay really. It wasn't very likely that he would get picky about that. She thought. Well. She hoped.

He also seemed to be pretty hungryy and Daisy tried to hide an amused smile from the professor as she started talking. Still, one thing was certain: if the cookies were poisoned, Matt would definitely need a visit to the Healer later. "Naah, save if for later." Look, she appreciated the offer, okay? Had it been anything else, she would've GLADLY taken it. It was food, after all, and Daisy Carden never refused food. Unless she was afraid of getting poisoned.

Family trauma, you see?

Actually, could she use that as an answer? That Hogwarts students had once been poisoned and turned into animals? That wasn't exactly about Hogwarts itself, was it? Probably best to think of something else, then. The fifth year listened to her classmates' answers, taking occasional notes on her parchment. SERIOUSLY, had EVERYONE read Hogwarts, a History except her?? Well, and Matt, apparently. The girl snorted at his answer, nodding in agreement. YES, Hogwarts WAS mental.

Raising one hand and waiting her turn, the Slytherin thought about everything her parents had told her about the school. OOOOH, yes, that was good. "Hogwarts got flooded in the school year of 2068-2069 by the merpeople but the students and the staff managed to get the castle back." Which honestly sounded SO. COOL.

Class was beginning, so Cassie made sure she was ready with her parchment and quill to take notes. She listened as the first question was broached, wondering just what she should say about the school. There certainly was a lot to gather about it. Ideas were given by her fellow students and she paid attention to them as she didn't want to duplicate what someone else said. There was plenty to go around for sure.

...the no-apparating, hidden from Muggles by magic, the Founders, the ever-changing staircases and floor plan.

...the Battle of Hogwarts, the motto, no electric devices, thestrals and the Hogwarts carriages, the frog choir, the quill and book responsible for noting future students.

... the cold, the ghosts, the flooding, the exams...the list could literally go on and on.

Finally Cass raised her hand to supply her own answer. "Hogwarts has had a long line of distinguished headmasters and headmistresses, including Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGongall, Phineas Black, Dippet and um...Basil Fronsac." Couldn't forget the Ravenclaw one.

Janelle kept eating her cookies, enjoying them thoroughly. When class was called to order, she focused her attention on the professor. No time was wasted getting to the point. Professor Newton dove right in with the first question. What did they all know about Hogwarts?

Janelle wanted to come up with some interesting, but not well known fact about the school. What she ended up doing was stating the obvious.........information that everyone in the class knew. Janelle raised her hand and gave her answer. "Hogwarts divides its students into four houses. The four houses are named for the school's founders." Write that down everyone.

Nat might have started to daydream in her seat. She had so much on her mind at the moment and was fully struggling to stay focused. She had the band she was really trying to get a record deal for. She wanted them to become huge and she wasn't stopping until she got there. Her mind was also on her auditions, she had Juilliard still on the back of her brain, but she had started talking herself out of it. WADA was the best for her. It was near her friends, the band, and her father.

Her mind had gone so far she hadn't even noticed class had started. She was looking at the wall in the classroom and just thinking. She hadn't heard the question nor was she hearing the answers. When he thoughts moved to possibly what she was doing over Christmas Break she thought about going away but also just hanging out. It wasn't until she heard exclusive lists that she turned her brown eyes and noticed everyone with their hands up and answering.

Whoops

He was smiling down at her, looking into her bright blue eyes when the Professor started class and Leon turned his attention, albeit reluctantly towards the Professor.

Juno grinned. He had a good appetite like she did. That was good! Now he wouldn't make fun of her for how much she ate. When he squeezed her hand she got a little flutter in her tummy, and felt the heat in her cheeks. "You're welcome." She said quietly with a grin.

She quickly turned her attention to the class. She had to think for a few moments before deciding on what facts to share about their wonderful school. She raised her hand, and when called on replied, "Well Professor, like others have said, the school is unplottable, which means the precise location of the school isn't truly known and when any muggle looks at the castle looks like a ruin basically. It was built in the 10th century, I believe, and there are 142 moving staircases." Yep. Those were interesting facts for sure!

Oh, Hogwarts was a fascinating topic. Not only because Katy already knew some things and was trying desperately to learn even more, but because she was sure there was an endless supply of things to learn. Forever, maybe, and that was exciting. What else in this world continued to be a source of mystery?

"Professor!" Her hand shot up in the air. "The castle itself is over a thousand years old. It's been updated with modern plumbing, at least, but some things around here are still remarkably archaic."

Brent was pretty new to Hogwarts, but he'd managed to figure out a decent amount of information about the place in the few months he'd been here. This made the first question a pretty easy one, even though Brent had no idea what he wanted to say right off the bat. He looked around the room as his classmates and friends suggested one thing after another. Pretty soon, he knew exactly what he wanted to say.

He raised his hand in the air. "Since I'm new to Hogwarts this year, I can tell you a few things from the perspective of a student at another magical school." Ilvermorny, in his case. "This school has a pretty widespread reputation of having some wild and crazy things happen here year after year. Stuff like mysterious illnesses or...mermaid floods." He looked at the girl who'd brought up that whole flood from a decade or so back.

But seriously. What was it about this school and crazy, unexpected mysteries happening year after year?

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum. Anything about Hogwarts huh?
Jonas frowned and tried to think. Aha!
"Hogwarts had some of the greatest witches and wizards of their time. And also some of the darkest too."
Like Voldemort and Grindowald. But Jonas didn't say that outloud. Though it's been a long time, some were still sensitive about that.

It was not surprising that someone mentioned the fact that you can't apparate inside the castle. "Yes, very good! Something that people seem to forget sometimes." That was okay though since not everyone COULD apparate anyway.

Well that was quite the creative response! Rosalyn liked it. "Yes, our school looks like an old castle ruin to muggles," she said with a smile.

Oh good! Rosalyn was very pleased to see the first mention of the founders. "Very good, Miss Kramer!" Yes, that was going to be their lesson today: the founding of Hogwarts.

He WANTED to bring up the Chamber of Secrets, but since Professor Newton had been the one to rain on his parade...he refrained....but he had ANOTHER series of chambers as it were that he was curious about. "Profes-ss-ssor? Are the seven chambers s-s-still there? The ones meant to protect the Philos-sopher's-s S-S-Stone?"

RIGHT. He was going to open his chocolate frog up now. Yeeeeeees.

Rosalyn sent a smile towards Derf, not in the least bit bothered that he was still wary of her snacks. At any rate she was impressed by his knowledge! "Excellent! Five points for a great answer!" As far as his question... "They are, though they aren't used for any purpose at the moment." That might change some day, however.

"It changes a lot: sometimes you think you left a room somewhere but it decided to take a holiday and not show up today, or is actually only there on tuesdays or something like that."
Another very true answer. "Correct The moving staircases can be VERY hard to deal with." They could make her life difficult sometimes, and had since she was a little girl!

"There was a big battle here, during the second wizarding war. The school was where Harry Potter defeated the Dark Lord" Which was actually pretty cool. They walked the same paths that amazing witches and wizards had. And that was pretty awesome.
Oh good, the mention of the Battle of Hogwarts. "Excellent, Miss Paton! One of the things that Hogwarts is most famous for." And the school was famous for a lot of things!!

So instead he said "Hogwarts has hosted some pretty cool events like the Tri-Wizard Tournament!" he'd love to be around if Hogwarts ever get to do that again. His dad was here the last time and it was indeed an amazing thing given all his stories.
The Triwizard Tournament was something that Rosalyn had mixed feelings about in all honestly. While it sounded like it could be fun, it was also dangerous. "Very good! A part of Hogwarts from long ago and a great way to get different schools together."

As for what Skylar knew, well, there was much to say, but what she wanted was to say something rather random. Something that maybe wasn't necessarily known. Raising her hand, Skylar figured the school motto was random enough, and also kind of amusing, "The school motto is draco dormiens nunquam titillandus, which is Latin for 'Never tickle a sleeping dragon', which is kind of weird, cause I'm not sure why anyone would WANT to tickle a dragon." You know, just it didn't exactly sit right in her mind.
Hehe. Rosalyn had to agree with Skylar that it made no sense to want to tickle a dragon, but hey, the motto had worked for over a thousand years. Also she was impressed. "Very good! Five points for the correct use of the Latin!" A dead language important to history and even if the pronunciation wasn't perfect, Skylar still had done good.

Plus, the sugar might actually keep him from getting distracted.

As he nommed on cookies, he considered all of the things he knew about Hogwarts. Obviously, there were quite a few things, but sometimes when he was put on the spot, Ollie found it hard to remember all of the things he knew. Eventually, he settled with something simple and raised his hand. "Hogwarts carriages are pulled by Thestrals," (that counted as a fact about the school, right?) "aaaaaaaand the Chamber of Secrets exists under the castle." Still creepy, if you asked him. He never ever wanted to end up under the castle. The dungeons were plenty enough for him.
Two facts in one! Oliver was doing quite well with tidbits of information. "Good job," she said with a smile.

"It's cold in the winter because stone." Except for the heating charms cast on the class room. "Also, there's a lot of poop in the Owlery." Where was Flynn...?

Cold and poop. TRUTH.
Oh goodness. Rosalyn could not deal with this child. It was hard for her not to laugh at his answers. Not because they were BAD, but because they were endearing. "True enough, Mr Lewis. Castles tend to get cold in the winter for that very reason. We are lucky to be able to use heating charms to help with that." Muggles could not. "That there is," she added with a smile.

And there was Rooney showing great enthusiasm for the subject. It always made Rosalyn happy to see that. His excitement was wonderful. "Excellent! Five points for a great and thorough answer!"

A smile was sent towards Leesha as she gave her reply to the question. "Salazar Slytherin, but that was very close!" Rosalyn was impressed and knew that those names could be hard to get right. As far as the other founders, they would get more into that in a little bit...

NOT that that was a bad thing, anyway. At least... so far so good.

It was a little hard to hear Olivia, but Rosalyn still managed to make out what the girl had to say. Aware at what had happened at the seminar, she had been worried about her student. Looked like she was on the mend, which was a lovely thing to see. "Yes, very good. The ghosts are a wonderful part of our history." Well- at least it was a question she could come up with an answer to, but what kind of answer?

WOW. It was a little hard to understand everything that was being said to her, but Rosalyn was VERY impressed none the less. It was obvious that someone enjoyed trivia. "Wonderful, Miss Dance! Five points for an extensive answer!" And from a First Year too! Generally they didn't know as much about Hogwarts as the older students.

OOC: No worries.

Smooth.
A smile was sent towards Abey, though Rosalyn was about to tell him that he needed to raise his hand. Before she could, however, he had done it on his own. Good. "Yes, we are in Scotland," she said in affirmation since he seemed unsure. "Good answer."

COOL.
It was slightly surprising that Daisy knew about that incident since not everyone did. Maybe her parents had attended during that time. "Yes, very good! Not everyone knows it, but a lot of our castle WAS under water at that point." Thank Merlin it had happened before she started attending!!

"Very good!" Rosalyn said with a smile at Cassandra. "There have been several famous people at Hogwarts. Both as Heads and as students." Referring to people like Harry Potter for instance.

Janelle wanted to come up with some interesting, but not well known fact about the school. What she ended up doing was stating the obvious.........information that everyone in the class knew. And another mention of the four founders! Good even if it was basic information. "Correct, Miss Guidry,"

Another answer about the school being unplottable, but that was okay! It was just good that students knew this information. Rosalyn wanted to be aware of how much they knew about their school. Plus Miss Darcy had other information as well. "Very good!" Not everyone knew how many staircases there were in the castle, so that was impressive.

It was nice to hear from someone who had attended another school. Rosalyn was definitely all for that, curious about the different schools. "Very well said! We definitely have a reputation for crazy and dangerous things. A lot of people wonder why the school is still open." That was not a topic that she was going to get into right now, however.

"Hogwarts had some of the greatest witches and wizards of their time. And also some of the darkest too."
Like Voldemort and Grindowald. But Jonas didn't say that outloud. Though it's been a long time, some were still sensitive about that.
"Very good, Mr Emery! Hard to think that Lord Voldemort used to be a student in this school." Crazy to think after all the stuff the man had done to become inhuman.

"Wonderful job, everyone!" Rosalyn said as she beamed at the class. "I know that the question was rather vague, but I wanted to see what you guys know about the school." Even if it was trivial or a tiny observation. She just liked knowing what her students were aware of.

Hopefully everyone was still awake and paying attention; the origins of the school were important because they wouldn't be sitting here in this classroom today without the witches and wizards who had founded the it. And no, they were NOT going to be talking about the entire history of the castle because it would take way too long. Within even the last hundred years a lot had happened.

Not to say that they wouldn't study other aspects of Hogwarts history at another point.

Anyway. "A couple of you mentioned that Hogwarts was founded a long time ago. It's hard to pin point an exact date, but it is thought to have happened around the year 990." As she spoke, Rosalyn began writing on the board. Students should be taking notes; she would be disappointed if they didn't. "Hogwarts had four founders: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw, all determined to create the world's best magic school. They are widely thought of as being the most brilliant witches and wizards of their time." Just a little bit of trivia there. "Each founded a house within the school, using their surname. Each House was different, and based off of traits that the founder in charge of it thought to be important to bring out in students." While she was aware that many students would be aware of this information, it was worth repeating - especially to those who are new to the wizarding world. "For Godric Gryffindor it was determination, courage, and strength of heart. Salazar Slytherin valued determination, resourcefulness, cleverness, and certain disregard for rules. Helga Hufflepuff valued hard work, loyalty, and fairness. Rowena Ravenclaw valued creativity, cleverness, sharpness of mind, and wisdom. Not to say that those characteristics are set in stone, this is just what they valued and used to determine who they accepted into their Houses." These days everything was looser and many people could fit in multiple Houses.

Anyway that was enough for now. They would get into things further after the next question. "Now what do you know about the four founders? You don't need to state a fact for more than one of them unless you want to." Just saying because that would be asking for a lot and besides everyone needed a chance to answer. "Anything about their lives at all even if it's just a small detail."

OOC: Great job everyone! We will be moving along in approximately 24 hours.

SUMMER FOREVER

Oh. So, they WERE going to be talking about the founders of the school. Interesting. Etta wrote down all the important points before pausing for a moment to think. Anything about the founders... OHHH! Yes, she could think of something. The girl had done some reading for this class, thankfully.

She raised a hand. "Helga Hufflepuff was supposed to have been very good with food-related charms. Many of her recipes are used even today, I think. " She answered cheerfully, glad to have known something about the founder of her house.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Pleased that his answer had been right, Mason sat up a little straighter to give the Professor his full intention for the next set of questions. It did not surprise him when the founders of Hogwarts came in to play and the Ravenclaw thought of an answer about one of the founders that wasn't so obvious. Like what that Hufflepuff girl had done. He had not known that Helga Hufflepuff was famous for her food recipes.

He thought...and thought..and thought... and then came to the conclusion that he did not know much about the founders of Hogwarts. He had been here for 2 years now and he had never bothered to look it up. Now, if she had asked about the founder of Durmstrang Nerida Vulchanova, he could have answered as he had spend most of his time at that school so far. Until she mysteriously died and Harfang Munter took her place and the classes changed drastically. Aka learning about the dark arts and it was still being taught. Mason wrinkled his nose and shook his head because he was over-thinking again and then leaned back in his chair.

Better not give an answer at all than boring predictable ones. Like that salazar slytherin had a giant secret chamber. Everyone knew that. Even he. Instead, he looked sideways at Dora before ripping a piece of parchment, pretending he was taking notes and scribbled on it.

Quote:
meet me after class, we need to talk
He then looked up to see if the Professor was not looking their way and shoved the paper towards her.

And now the founders? This was actually a really interesting lesson. Okay so she wasn't really learning anything that she couldn't get out of a book right now, but it was always interesting to learn new facts about Hogwarts! They wet to a great school, and it was always good to know the history of the school she attended. But now she needed to think about something she knew about the founders. She knew a lot about Helga Hufflepuff, of course she did. She was the woman that had founded her own house, but she wanted to say something a little more interesting. She thought for a few more moments before raising her hand into the air.

"Salazar Slytherin built a secret chamber that nobody else knew about. Nobody thought it even existed until Lord Voldermort opened it when he was at the school. Imagine nobody knowing about it!" It was kind of scary really. Could there be more chambers nobody knew about?

They be talking about the Hogwarts founders? Oh oh oh here's one of his own House's Founder "Godric Gryffindor was the best duellist of his time-- but he wasnt just skilled with wand duelling, he was really really good with the sword too! Noelle had been munching on her shortbread, unable to answer any questions due to her mouth full of yum! She nodded in agreement to some of the answers. One or two she didn't actually know.

She did know about the founders though. Each one made each house. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff.

"The Ravenclaw founder, Rowena Ravenclaw had a long lost diadem. " That was something right? She couldn't remember if her daughter had stolen it or what. She really needed to brush up on her history.
Noelle brushed off the crumbs from her uniform before pulling out a self-inking quill and started taking notes on what the other classmates said.

Nero grinned, satisfied that his question since even before he came to Hogwarts had been answered. However, it wasn't the end of it. So, his hand slowly raised. "But, professor, what if muggles get into Hogwarts area? Will they see all the magic or will they still see it as something... Muggle normal?" He knew there are rules on keeping the wizarding world secret from the muggles and exposing it is a crime, but what if muggles unknowingly walked into a wizarding place or encountered a magical creature?

Of course... It wouldn't be History of Magic if the school founders weren't brought up. Unfortunately, Nero knew nothing about them other than their names. Well, he obviously knew Salazar Slytherin a little bit more since it is his house, but he remained quiet instead.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Zelena was nervous. This was one of her weak subjects. She could only think of one piece of information and it was making her feel incredibly low on the intelligence scale. She decided to release this insignificant piece of information.

Raising her hand, Zelena said rather shyly which was very unlike her, "Salazar Slytherin was apparently a very highly skilled Legimens."

After she said her answer, her shoulders slumped slightly as she bit her lip.

Oh boy. She was talking about the houses. Abey made a face at that, because his house was still QUITE a sore subject. Just BY THE WAY, it still didn't make sense that he was put in Gryffindor, not at all. There was NO GOOD REASON that Hufflepuff wouldn't have been perfect for him. That stupid Hat.

But oooooh, it sounded like the focus was more on the FOUNDERS than the HOUSES. And actually this next question was super actually easy actually. Abey knew the answer. What did he know about the four founders?

This time he remembered to raise his hand before talking, and waved it around a little bit to properly call attention to himself.

"Nothing."

That was his answer. Abey didn't know anything about them. Literally actually nothing. In fact, the today was the first time he had heard the founders' first names. What? The topic of the origins of Hogwarts didn't often come up in everyday conversation in the Botros household. Or maybe it did, and Abey had just never listened. Either way, his answer was still the same. Nothing.

Natalia finally started listening and was starting to think her thoughts were more interesting. Could she make time to go to the record label over break and intern a bit more? He did offer her that if she wanted it. She was going to have to decide on her out of the country auditions or interning over break. Decisions, decisions...

Hearing the professor say about the founders Nat was just about to raise her hand to answer the question with the Chamber when that Hufflepuff that was at the portal said the answer. Well she had something she could say to go with.

"Professor if I'm not mistaken and maybe I am, the founders didn't quite agree on the muggleborns being part of Hogwarts and that was the possible reason for the chamber being built by Salazar. He was not wanting anyone but purebloods to attend ." Not that she agreed with it, Natalia highly liked muggles from her experiences with them and muggleborns for that matter, but it was what she had read.
