| | Hieroglyphs Hall Adjacent to the stone gargoyle is a door that used to lead to a low-ceilinged storeroom for pieces of furniture, like chests, cupboards, vases, and armchairs, as well as spare portrait frames and candlesticks. Upon the arrival of Headmistress Hawthorne, everything that had once been in the room was moved elsewhere so that she could make better use of the space.
The door, now containing the Eye of Horus, opens into a narrow corridor that will transport anyone into a place that is vastly different from the rest of the castle. Lit by a number of torches, the limestone mud brick walls are covered in hieroglyphs, featuring animals, various objects, and many other shapes. The wide range of logographic, syllabic, and alphabetic elements belonging to Ancient Egypt tell a story the further you walk down the passageway. Unless you have been diligently reading and studying Magical Hieroglyphs and Logograms, the pictures and symbols might not make a whole lot of sense. Nonetheless, they are a rather beautiful sight to take in as they are not something you see every day.
Walking through to the end of the corridor will take you into a chamber that gives off quite the impression. Front and centre rests a golden sarcophagus, brightly painted in elaborate decorations featuring the gods and goddesses. It is clear that this room can only be fit for a king -- or, in this case, a pharaoh. Beside the sarcophagus are four canonic jars, each supposedly containing the brain and organs of the deceased. Scattered throughout the rest of the room are a number of jars, baskets, and bottles containing water, food, and oils and perfumes in addition to piles of the finest jewels and linens. There is even an ivory game of Senet placed on a small stone table to make the journey to the afterlife more bearable.
Dare you see if there is a linen-wrapped mummy inside its coffin waiting to be unleashed? Or perhaps you are interested in holding those expensive goods? Do so with caution. Surely you have not forgotten that every tomb comes with a curse or two? The headmistress, true to her Curse-Breaker and Defence roots, may have set up a few curses for those who get a little too carried away. OOC: This is an area set up for the lovers of Ancient Egyptian history, the aspiring Curse-Breaker, and/or the general castle explorer. If you have a character that cannot help but touch everything they see, feel free to have them be cursed temporarily. The headmistress purposefully placed an array of curses, hexes, and jinxes (e.g., Babbling Curse, Full Body-Bind Curse, Hair Loss Curse, Bat-Bogey Hex, Sardine Hex, Tickling Hex, Jelly-Legs Jinx, Melofors Jinx, Knockback Jinx) on many of the items inside the room for learning purposes. ;]

Paul decided he needed to see the headmistress. It was a few months into term, and he had not even talked to her about any BUSINESS yet! Deputy HEADMASTER business, that is.
However, the Herbologist had heard what she had done to this room, and sooooooo curiosity led him inside. He opened the door, and peeeeeeked in, and gasped slightly.
IT WAS SO COOL.
Paul wanted to look at EVERYTHING.
The room was no longer a hugger-mugger of forgotten furniture and random and various items! It was...a magical Egyptian PARADISE. For anyone who loved hieroglyphs...or...WAS THERE A MUMMY AROUND HERE? Paul prodded and poked around, touching a sarcophagus with drumming fingers.
And then something very unfortunate happened.
ALL. OF. HIS. HAIR. FELL. OUT. ALL OF THE HAIR ON HIS HEAD AND....EYEBROWS. DID ANYONE HAVE AN IT COSMETICS BROW PENCIL?!?!? Paul DID NOT LOOK GOOD HAIRLESS.
HE LOOKED LIKE A MOLE RAT.
OMG.
OMG.
OMG.

| Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch The headmistress was hastily making her way back to office in the hope that she would be there before her deputy head arrived. He had sent word that he wanted to speak with her, and Regina was a little thrown off by the short notice. Nonetheless, she was well prepared to meet with the man ... as long as he didn't show up in one of his ghastly ponchos.
She was about to mutter the password to her gargoyle, but the door adjacent from it caught her attention. The Eye of Horus was glowing, its shimmering alerting her that someone had been foolish enough to touch something inside the room and wound up being cursed. Naturally, the woman decided to go investigate. She was positive that the rash student was still in there, giggling uncontrollably or preventing from others seeing sardines swimming out of their nose. It served them right for touching things that didn't belong to them or even bothering to check if the items in the room had been cursed or not.
Her footsteps could be heard loud and clear as she made her way down the corridor. She normally would have paused to admire the hieroglyphs, though she was more interested in the sight she would find in the chamber. The clicking of her shoes stopped when she took in the old man, and she took great efforts to keep the muscles on her face from forming a grin and stifle a fit of laughter.
"Good evening, Paul," Regina stated, standing in front of him with crossed arms and a deadpan face. "I see you've changed your hairstyle."

He swiped his hand across the top of his SMOOTH AS A BABY'S BOTTOM HEAD and took a deep breath. Clearly, he was cursed. Considering he was in THIS place and had touched SOMETHING. HAHA, Headmistress. SOOOOOOOO FUNNY. "I suppose hair does grow back," he muttered to himself. And then he heard the distinctive sound of high heel shoes and turned to see.
PFFFFT. "Regina!" he grinned. "DO I FRIGHTEN YOU?" he asked. "I'm afraid to look in a mirror. I believe I touched something that was not too keen on my curiosity," he chuckled in a good-natured way now that the shock OF BEING HAIRLESS was over. "Maybe I'll bring baldness into style." He smirked. "Go on, laugh. I know you want to. You won't hurt my feelings." Because LOL it was kind of funny.

| Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch Did the man frighten her? No, definitely not. He didn't make it anywhere near the top of the things that frightened her. Now, had he asked if he annoyed her ... well, that would have been a different story.
Even though he gave her the okay to laugh at him, the headmistress forced herself not to. The only thing she allowed was the corner of her lips to move up slightly, as if they were in the beginning stages of forming a smile. While the initial sight of the bald professor was humourous, his reaction was one that surprised her. He thought it was funny. Looking like a naked mole-rat amused him. Right now Regina wanted to roll her eyes at the old man as two questions flittered in her mind. Has he been hit with a secondary curse? Or is he crazy?
"I wouldn't look in the mirror if I were you, Paul," she responded, letting a smirk smile appear on her face. "I actually recommend throwing on one of your sombreros before you end up blinding a student."
The woman then casually walked around the room, careful not to touch anything that she had cursed on purpose. She stopped at the small stone table and moved one of the ivory Senet pieces. "So what did you touch that made all of your hair fall out? Didn't anyone teach you that 'curiosity killed the cat'?" She honestly wouldn't have been surprised if no one had considering the man was sporting a hairless look.
