| H: 250, m:250, f:20 Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna The first duel of the new term and Cass found herself going up against a friend. It made things…interesting, to say the very least. She certainly didn’t want to do anything or cast any spell that might cause too much harm in one shape or form. But she also didn’t want to whimp out and take it easy on Olivia just because it was Olivia. Surely they had both signed up for the dueling club once more, knowing just what to expect from previous years. Not to mention her companion was a Gryffindor as well. So the Ravenclaw had researched their list of known and acceptable spells, trying to get a feel for what she might want to work with before hand.
And then the day came and the fourth year got dressed in the gear they were supposed to wear once she reached the dueling arena. When she was ready, Cass stepped up to the area they were supposed to meet for the duel as the Gryffindor would do the same. “Good luck,” she remarked with a polite smile before taking her spot and bowing to her friendly opponent as protocol directed. Then finally she took her stance and raised her wand, taking a deep breath to prepare to begin. “Cantis!” she cast, using a spell she had practiced since it seemed an amusing option in the thick of things. And possibly unexpected.

| Post 1: H: 250, M: 250, F: 21 Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese If there was one thing that was guaranteed to cheer up one Olivia Phillips... it was the prospect of dueling. DUELS. She'd not been that great in the beginning, but with hard work, hours of practice, and her steely determination, the Gryffindor had quickly elevated herself in skill and the tournament standings. Besides ballet, it was the one thing in her life that she'd really, and truly, worked towards. For herself. Not for anyone else. So, needless to say, the entire practice pumped this blonde Lion UP! Which was a good thing. Olivia needed healthy rivalry in her life right now; things that could build her confidence back up and not beat her down further.
Checking the schedule, Liv saw that her first opponent was Cassie... who was yes, a friend... And she couldn't help but to smile. Hopefully, the blonde wouldn't get too intense for the gentle girl. That had been known to happen with others...
Stepping into the arena, dressed down in black with none of the usual sparkly embellishments, she moved to "center stage", bowing at the appropriate time, but never once taking her eyes off Cassie. They were friends, yes, but Liv was still very much a competitor. This would not be an easy meeting for the Ravenclaw.... "Thank you, Cassie. You, as well."
... And Cassie was getting started right away. Fighting the urge to cast Protego (because she wouldn't be able to immediately go on the offensive otherwise), Olivia, instead, twirled away from the concentrated white light... whipping her wand around to throw out two simpler charms, the Jelly Leg Jinx and Jelly Fingers. Not performed consecutively, mind... but within the space of a few minutes. She wasn't awesome enough to cast magic that flawlessly yet. It still took loads of concentration, even more so given recent events.
Taking a deep breath, Olivia finished off with the customary Feather-Light Charm (on herself), taught to her by one Charlotte Kettleburn.... But that was in the before!time. They hadn't trained together in ages.

| H:250, m: 235, f:20 Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna She had noticed Olivia’s constant almost unblinking atttention on her and wondered just how…dramatic this duel was going to be. Her opponent was sure focused, as she herself was, especially as she watched and waited with almost baited breath to see how the Gryffindor would reply so she was ready to respond back to her in a rightful manner. Twirling away? Now that was a new one for Cass to witness. But then she usually had more guy opponents than girl ones especially outgoing, creative ones like Olivia.’
With the first spell sent her way, the Ravenclaw opted for a shield first before using the delay from it to help with the dodging the second spell that followed soon after. “Protego!” There was no way to be absolutely sure her shield would be strong enough to cover them both so Cass wasn’t taking any chances. And here the was deflected back at the Gryffindor. As for the third spell Olivia used, she took note of it given what it could help the other girl with in her defense making her own offense harder in certain respects.
Smooth move.
Focused yet quiet, Cassie cast an “Adhaero” on Olivia’s shoes, hoping to counteract the lightening charm in hopes of keeping her more of a target. The Ravenclaw then followed up with a normal-sounding “Melofors!” aiming at the other girl’s head. One could only hope at least one of her aims rang true.

| urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse This duel between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw was going to be an interesting one because of the tactics that the two took to prepare for this. They were quite different in their approaches to this club. The question remained: which one would work better?
As the duel progressed, Hirsch noted the duelling styles of the two girls present and where their strengths lay. It was interesting to see how similar they were in terms of agility. Olivia, naturally, seemed to be fast thanks to her dance background, but Miss McNally was keeping the girl on her toes using her smarts.
See? Interesting.
It was a shame that the duel had to come to an end all too soon because frankly, the man didn't want it to end. When it did, however, the man struck up a magical shield between the two girls to stop any future spells from hitting their opponents. "Excellent!" he called, stepping closer towards the two girls, "A short duel but not a bad one, I have to say. Well done to both of you." Smiles for them. "However, there has to be a winner and so, congratulations, Miss Phillips. And well done, Miss McNally."
And they could go. Stats: Cassandra McNally: 87.67% Olivia Phillips: 104.07%
