Welcome to your first duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Hex Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.
_______________ Professor Hirsch will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.
Please remember to adhere to the Dueling Club rules, the DADA rules as well as the SS Site rules.
Good luck!

Duuuuuuuude. Brent was STOKED. This dueling club kind of made up for the fact there was no Quidditch here. Defense class and duels came second after Quidditch, so this was a nice consolation prize. He was set to duel Carl, who was a pretty even opponent, Brent guessed. He stepped into the arena, came face to face with Carl, and did the whole bow thing you usually do before a duel.
Now. Let's get this party started.
Brent drew his wand, although, he didn't cast on Carl first, he cast on himself. He produced a Silver-Shield Spell around him. "Armanto!" he called out. There. That should keep him protected for a least a spell or two. With the shield surrounding him, Brent was casting toward Carl within seconds. He knew if he hesitated at all, Carl would already be casting.
He sent a Bat-Bogey Hex toward Carl. It was a spell he'd learned in his third year, but he had mastered it at an intermediate level and was now working on making it even better. He stood by and watched for possible effects of his spell.

Dueling! Carl really liked the club and as usual, had signed up for it as soon as registration was open. He was excited for the first duel, which he heard was going to be against Brent the Slytherin. He wondered if there were dueling activities at Ilvermony... either way, it was going to be fun! He made his way into the arena and stood opposite his opponent. He bowed politely with a smile.
The Fourth Year drew his wand and watched carefully as Brent cast a spell. Ah, the Silver-Shield charm! That was smart. "Protego!" He said when he saw the other boy quickly send a Bat-Bogey Hex toward him. A shield appeared and protected him against potential creepy bat bogies. "Ebublio" He called out afterwards, directing his wand at his opponent. He had never used this spell in a duel before, but he was hoping that the large bubble would restrict the space Brent could move in. He had a few other spells in mind, but decided to wait and watch before casting them. After all, there was a good shield around the boy at the moment!

Brent eyed his Silver-Shield Spell. It was strong, but he could tell it might fade soon. He could probably only ward off one good spell with it, and then it'd be gone. His mind was already racing with his next plan of action. He was super disappointed when his Bat-Bogey Hex didn't even work against Carl. He had always wanted to see that spell in action, especially if he had been the one to cast it.
Oh, well. Next move!
Ahh, Ebublio. He had almost used that one, too. Smart move, dude... However, Brent's Silver-Shield Spell protected him against it, although not long after, the shield disappeared, and Brent was once again left to the elements. Thinking fast, he cast again.
There was another spell that he thought would be just as fun to watch as the Bat-Bogey Hex. Brent gave a sharp point of the wand toward Carl and sent a Leek Jinx his way. There. Take that, Carl! Hopefully this would stop up his ears and prevent him from hearing any additional spells! Also, sorry about the leeks in advance if this does end up working!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Alexander River Hirsch Gryffindor Third Year Hogwarts RPG Name: -- x11 x11
| urine trouble | Pat's Strong Confident Other Half | Pees Like a Champion Unicorn Racehorse There were a number of things that got Hirsch excited about this duel. For one, he didn't know what Mr Westwood's duelling tactic was and the boy could be bringing something new to the table and for another, it would provide Mr Leonard an interesting challenge of facing someone completely new.
But the best part? The use of the Silver Shield Spell. Hardly anyone used it in the club so to see it being put into use made the man quite a bit happy.
Unfortunately, it wasn't long before the duel had to come to a close. It was a shame because the man had been getting quite into the duel itself. He gave his watch another quick glance to make sure that he'd gotten the time right before striking up that familiar magical shield between the two duellers. "Excellent! That was a great effort from both of you. And I like the use of different spells as well." Because it had to be mentioned. "It seems as though you two are so evenly matched that the duel has to end in a tie. Congratulations to both of you." And, they could go. Stats: Brent Westwood: 95.33% Carl Leonard: 95.33%
