| | Fourth Floor Balcony On the fourth floor corridor is one of the few balconies in the castle. With a view of Hogwarts grounds, this balcony is a great place to take a break from doing that lengthy Arithmancy homework, or to generally relax with your friend.

She raised her eyebrows to show her skepticism of the Slytherin's story, though she wasn't angry. Kitty knew how hard this curfew was for everyone and she didn't blame Daisy for wanting to get fresh air.
Kitty glanced back the way they came before answering. It was a paranoid habit she'd picked up recently. "I think you wandered away on purpose." she said. Judging by the way Daisy had looked down at her shoes and bitten her lip, she probably knew that Kitty knew too, so no need to go into reasons. "I don't really blame you, though. I know this sucks. But it's even worse for me and the other prefects because we have to be everywhere at once. I even have to accompany people to the bathroom." She wasn't trying to sound whiny, the reason she brought this up was to try to show Daisy that she didn't like these arrangements anymore than she did. "And right now I'm the only Ravenlaw prefect." Just thinking about Rooney made Kitty feel like crying. She even felt tears coming to her eyes but she tried to fight them back, if only for Daisy's sake. "But you're safe and that's all that matters," she said, her shoulders shaking from stress and sadness. "I won't tell anyone. But please, please next time tell me first. I wouldn't mind accompanying you wherever you wished, as long as I wasn't busy with other students."
She paused to look outside, feeling the wind blow across her hair. It calmed her down a bit. "But you are okay?" She wasn't sure why she asked, since Daisy had already said she was okay. When the Ravenclaw Prefect told her that she had wandered away on purpose, Daisy at least had the decency to look guilty and apologetic. She really was sorry for worrying Kitty and for probably making her walk up all those stairs once more. But still not enough to wish she hadn't done it, though. The feeling of the chilly wind on her hair was priceless and Kitty would probably agree with her. Oh. Oh, right.
Daisy hadn't yet realised, of course, that Rooney's disappearance meant that Kitty would have double the duties. "I'm sorry, that must suck for you." She kicked at the floor for a minute before moving towards her bag and crouching down. "For all of you, actually." She wasn't even sure if she meant the Ravenclaw House or the Prefects, at this point. She rummaged around in her bag for a while before pulling out a bag of chocolate frogs. "It must be really hard for the Ravenclaws ... to have their Prefect ... not here." She finished lamely, not really knowing how to word it.
Snatched, taken, kidnapped, gone.
That all sounded awful and she shook her head to clear her thoughts and moved closer to the girl, the bag with the chocolate candy held up her way. "And I do appreciate all that you guys are doing. I mean, it must be exhausting.." Daisy eyed the bags under Kitty's eyes and tilted her head, offering the girl a small smile. "I might not like the idea of having an escort to the bathroom but .. it does make me feel safer." Until she remembered that a Prefect had been taken too, so where they really any safer? Right, best to avoid those thoughts too.
All of a sudden, there were a lot of thoughts to avoid.
The girl's question did throw her off for a second and Daisy looked at her curiously. Was she okay? Like, generally? "I'm fine. Bit stressed out because of the exams but ..." She shrugged and opened her arm, trying to encompass everything that was happening at Hogwarts with one movement. ".. it all seems a bit meaningless now." People were gone and as far as she could see, all they were doing as wait around for them to miraculously come back. "You? How are you holding up?" Except for, you know, being overworked. |

People were gone and as far as she could see, all they were doing as wait around for them to miraculously come back. "You? How are you holding up?" Except for, you know, being overworked. Kitty looked at Daisy and considered whether or not she should tell her how she really felt. For a moment she thought she'd just tell her that she was generally okay and that things were going to be okay. And in reality she felt terrible and worried for Rooney and the others all the time. But she didn't want to make Daisy worried, or at least any more worried than she already was.
But Daisy had come out here on her own to get away from everything, and Kitty had already begun talking. She didn't want to lie. She hated lying.
Moving over to the edge of the balcony, she placed her arms on the railing and leaned on them, gazing out at the setting sun. "I think I'm supposed to say that I'm okay, since I'm a prefect and all. But I'm not going to lie. Of how many times I've had to accompany students to the bathrooms, I've MEMORIZED some of the patterns the dirt makes on the floor." She laughed, though she didn't really find it that funny. "And my legs have been hurting for the past few days of all the walking. And I'm scared for the students who vanished, and for all of us. Rooney was my friend, and you're right, it sucks for all of us Ravenclaws that he's not here. You must miss Carlton terribly. Were you friends?"
She turned and smiled ruefully at Daisy. "Prefects are supposed to be stable, but I'm not stable at all. Sorry if I made you feel worse. We're not sure if the others are okay, but we have to hope that they are. Things will be good again." |

| Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door Kitty obviously had a whole lot to unload and Daisy followed the Ravenclaw to the railing, leaning back against the cold stone, her blue eyes trained on the Ravenclaw. It was refreshing to hear someone -- someone with a badge!! -- speak so honestly about this whole portal!disappearance situation and the Slytherin listened intently even as she busied herself with the unwrapping of a chocolate frog.
They were all scared and there was nothing wrong with admitting that. "I won't tell anyone about what you said, you're okay." She whispered to the girl, her tone indicating that she was trying to lighten the mood but she was truthful. Surely Prefects unloaded their concerns on each other but Kitty was missing her teammate. She knew what that felt like. "Obviously, I don't know if you guys know more than the students but I think it's okay to admit that you're worried." Was that a Slytherin thing to say? EH, she didn't know anymore. Shrugging her own thoughts away, she bit off the head of the chocolate frog and watched it closely for a few seconds. "I think everybody is worried, some are just not admitting it." She looked at the Prefect once more and offered her a small smile as well as a wrapped chocolate frog. "Chocolate can make you feel better, you know?"
Even if only for a little while.
When the girl mentioned Carlton, Daisy's smile turned sad. "I don't think I've ever exchanged more than a couple sentences with him, really." Passwords to the common rooms, directions to classrooms. The normal stuff. Still, the boy was a first year. Her brother was a first year and the thought of anything of the sort happening to Maxton sent her stomach into a frozen, knotted frenzy. "Still, he is so sweet. He is missed in the Common Room." And it was true. Carlton was a joy to be around. Soon enough, he would be back. He had to. "They'll come back. All of them. Rooney, Carlton and ... Henry." She had been trying to act as if Henry hadn't been taken, as if he was still around somewhere, but it was getting harder as the days went by.
She turned around and watched the view for a while before turning to the Prefect. "You didn't make me feel bad, don't worry about that. And you seem pretty stable to me." Except for that one History of Magic lesson that had led to the Ravenclaw storming out which had been weird. STILL, water under the bridge and completely insignificant when compared to the current events. "We'll all pull through this. It will be fine." She agreed at last, not really wanting to admit that she had some doubts regarding that. Best to remain optimistic, right? |

She agreed at last, not really wanting to admit that she had some doubts regarding that. Best to remain optimistic, right? It was nice of Daisy to hear her worries and not try to end the conversation awkwardly. Now she was more calm than when she'd arrived, but if she had just brushed her off she'd probably be feeling very embarrassed right now. "We don't know any more than you do," she admitted, though as soon as she said that she remembered how she was the only one (along with the headmistress) who had photos from the other side of the portal. But she decided that Daisy should know the truth, or at least as much as she knew. "Well, I mean as prefects we don't know more. Personally I've been inside the portal, so I've seen some of it. It's very similar to Hogwarts, just darker, and stranger. There are dark green vines growing on the walls, and something that looks like snow mixed with ash and dander in the air. The walls and stairs look like they are crumbling apart, which is probably how the real Hogwarts looks when Muggles approach." Here she paused. What came next was a description of the bones they'd found on the ground, right next to a piece of the caretakers clothes. She'd skip this detail for now. Only if Daisy actually asked if she was hiding something would she say - otherwise she didn't want to worry her any more. "Then we heard growling, and you probably already know the rest of the story - how we were chased back out of the portal and all that. The headmistress confiscated my photos, so unfortunately I can't show you how it looks."
Kitty paused to take a deep breath. "You're right, we will see them again and they'll be safe," she said at last. "Rooney is a good spellcaster, he'll be able to protect the others and bring them back safely. Any day they'll be back." They had to believe that. Even as she said it she wasn't so sure, but she knew hope was what was most important now.
Oh, a chocolate frog. "Thank you," she said with a small smile, taking the chocolate she was being offered. This was sure to help. Twirling it around in her hand, she eventually unwrapped it and took a bite out of the frog. The card that came with it was very familiar to her: Carlotta Pinkstone. "Ooh, I have this one!" She showed the card to Daisy. "What do you think of her?" Just for a more cheerful change of topic. |

| Mrs. Alex Turner *asterisks user* Secret Door Kitty had been inside the portal? Daisy stared at the girl curiously as she explained what this other Hogwarts was like. Daisy didn't really know any of it; she had only discovered about the portal when she saw Henrietta and Junia being taken by the Wooden Bridge after the holidays. She wasn't even sure if she had heard anything about there being a different, darker Hogwarts. This was all creepy to her, honestly. "You were chased back?" She asked in a whisper, the chocolate frog she had been munching on quite forgotten now. Chased by what??
She wanted to ask -- but at the same time, she was quite unsure that would be a wise thing to do. "It was good thinking on your part, though. The photos." Surely the Headmistress or even the Ministry could get some information out of them. Honestly, Daisy wasn't even that upset that she couldn't see them -- not when they hadn't fixed the problem yet. Somehow, it would feel like tempting fate. Nah. She was okay.
None of this sounded good to her, but she still nodded at Kitty's words. The others would be back, they absolutely had to. Even if apparently they needed protection in there.
Whatever there was.
Chocolate frogs were awesome inventions exactly because of this and Daisy couldn't help but smile softly as Kitty showed her the card. SEE? Perfect opportunity to change the subject. And if Daisy had to look over at the card for a few seconds longer to remind herself of what Miss Pinkstone had done -- well, that was okay, too. "She sounds awesome." She finally replied with a chuckle, looking up at Kitty. Look, the woman was relentless and pretty self-assured; there was no way that Daisy didn't admire her. "But I'm really not sure if letting Muggles know we exist would be that good." |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | Mischievous Niffler Exhausted and worried as she was, she couldn't deny that talking with Daisy was making her feel better. Not only because talking with someone you liked always made you feel better, but also because she was helping to answer some of the questions most students didn't know about the portal but she did. Before she'd just assumed that the staff had told everyone about their adventure inside the portal, but now she realized how wrong that assumption had been. "Yep, we were all chased. It was definitely one of the most terrifying experiences in my life." She shuddered again, just thinking about it. The other most terrifying experiences were the two times Ursula Black tried to eat them - once in her second year, and once more in her third year. The second time in her third year was by far the worst, as that was the time she'd actually thrown both her and Brody into her pot in the Forbidden Forest and poured water on their heads.
It was one of the reasons why she'd automatically assumed the world on the other side of the portal was a Hag's castle, though now she knew that wasn't so. "Thank you," she said, smiling slightly as Daisy complemented her taking the pictures. "I hope they've been helpful to the headmistress. I like her," she said, referring to the headmistress. "She's the kind of headmistress we need at times like these. Or any times, really." Hopefully she'd stay.
Miss Pinkstone was actually one of Kitty's biggest heroes. She agreed with her on almost everything, if not everything, and often she felt inspired to follow in her footsteps. "Yeah, she certainly is," she remarked about Pinkstone. "I'm a halfblood, you know, and I have Muggle friends - so I can really sympathize with her cause of ending secrecy. I know it's much more complicated than that." She sighed softly. "But I've always been pro-Muggle. Don't worry, I'm not going to break the Statute anytime soon or anything. Speaking of which, do you remember that History of Magic lesson?" she asked, and she knew she didn't have to mention which one she meant. It was the bane of her existence, not including literal banes like Ursula Black and the portal. "I'm sure you know, or we wouldn't be talking like this, but I'm sure you know that I don't have anything against Slytherins. I love you guys, all of you - even Natalia. If you thought even for a moment that I was referring to you when discussing Salathar, then I'm deeply sorry. One of the reasons I became so passionate was just because of how pro-Muggle I am." |
