The huge doors leading into the Great Hall remain closed for most of the feast so that the caretaker or house-elves can take your luggage to your dormitory without being a distraction, but you can always slip into the hall for a breath of fresh air ... or to go use the loo. Don't be gone too long, though, because the meal is about to begin.
Hopefully it was here and she had only just lost her bracelet when she passed through to go inside the great hall. And not on the train. It could be in the great hall though too.
Her parents was going to be so mad if she had lost it. Already. Luckly everyone had already found a seat and no one was standing in the doorway. So she had a clear view of the floor area.
Where was it? The blonde had tried a few times to accio her bracelet but nothing happened. 'Oh where is it? What if it was still on the train or the carriage she rode up to the castle in, or the train platform.
She had just gotten that bracelet for her birthday last month. She was going to be in so much trouble if she couldn't find it. She would have to write to her mother and tell her.

Coming up from the dungeons after delivering all the luggage to the Slytherin common room the caretaker; Flynn entered the Entrance Hall, red faced and in a grumpy mood. Glancing towards the Great Hall he muttered loudly to himself "Just dandy," they hadn't begun the sorting of the new students yet which meant that Flynn had nothing else to do but wait with the younglings luggage and their noisy pets until it was over.
His eyes then landed on a girl in Hufflepuff robes some feet away from him that was walking around with her eyes to the ground as if she was looking for something. Approaching the girl Flynn asked with a raised brow. "Are you looking for something? I've already carried all the luggage and pets to the Hufflepuff Common Room."

Still looking around for her bracelet, was it possible that she had packed it, or maybe she didn't even wear it at all. She was sure she had it on when she left for kings cross. Maybe she could see if some one had found it, she could put something up on the student bulletin board about it missing if she didn't find it. Though she was really getting worried that it was lost FOREVER.
The fourth year wasn't paying much attention to anything else but the bracelet. Eyes glued to the floor the first thing she seen was shoes, someone was there. She looked up see the caretaker there standing, Mr. Flynn. Mmmm maybe he could help. "Oh hello Mr, Flynn sir. Yeah actually I'm looking for my bracelet.I think I lost it passing thought here to the great hall." He didn't happen to see one around, did he? At least this was the last place she thought it was.

Whatever the girl was looking for, it seemed to be a very prized possession since her eyes were literally glued to the floor in search for it. She didn't even see Flynn until he was practically one feet away from her. Flynn shook his head, kids these days....At least she was polite and called him SIR.
Looking around the hall Flynn shook his head. "Can't say that I have. Have you tried accioing it? If the bracelet was here then someone has mostly likely picked it up and taken it with them into the hall. Have you marked the bracelet so it's clear that it's yours?" Probably not Flynn wagered grumpily to himself.

This was the feast, and that meant Tenacius usually mucked about on his silvery cruiser because 1) no homework or classes yet so that means no deadlines and 2) Great Hall real estate is just made for hoverboarding like have you seen it? Of course.
So there he was zooming about.... there was a Hufflepuff with her gaze towards the floor. Was she looking for something? No worries, Hufflepuffs are great finders. All he has to do is nudge his cruiser this way to avoid her.....
-- And then suddenly the Caretaker walked in through the doorway.
Hit the breaks FULL STOP.
The Curly Top stumbled off his cruiser but caught himself just in time before he high fived the floor with his face. Straighten up, hide that cruiser and just walk by all casual like....
"Hello!" give them that Tenaciusly bright grin and move along... move along....

Flynn was looking around for the girl's prized bracelet in the Entrance Hall while he also kept an eye on the first years pet cages. He did not want to have to chase some cats or rats or worse frogs around the hall if he could help it. It'd ruin his already less than chipper mood.
The caretaker was about to ask the girl for what her bracelet looked like when an older curly haired youth zoomed into the entrance on a flying object. When the boy laid his eyes on Flynn he hit the brakes in surprise and stumbled off the flying thing and tried to hide it behind his back. Pointing his finger out at the boy Flynn asked gruffly. "What do you have behind your back? Show me! Have you got that flying object cleared by HoH Newton?"
Familiarity was a strange antidote and one Aslan Evans did not often steep herself in, but today as she walked into Hogwarts' Great Hall she allowed the feeling to settle in the very belly of her being. It was warm as a crackling fireplace and hot cider, but the tang on her tongue was sour, not sweet.
Those she had come to lean on within these halls had come and gone, leaving only memories which the brunette cared not to look upon, and those that remained? She wasn't so certain where she stood with them.
Change was heavy in the air. The sixth year remained in the entrance, caught metaphorically and physically in the middle.
Loosely Aslan crossed her arms under her chest. There was so much happening, but that wasn't a surprise, nothing was a surprise- it was all eventual, and expected at this point. The hall seemed almost to be bursting at the seams with energy, excitement and cheers, the loudest of all came after each sorting and then it was in waves.
Blue. Red. Yellow. Green. Each table had it's turn. It brought her back. To her own sorting. To her brother's. To Bastien's, Vincent's, Minnie's and Daxton and even Cox. She had watched them all as they'd sat beneath and let the sorting hat decide who they were and where they would spend their lives here in this castle.
It had all seemed so inconsequential back then, and now? Now as she glanced to the very different staff table (the headmistress she had first known, the one with the blood orange hair and fierce eyes was long gone) it all felt..... fated, and very real.
Realer than she felt.

SIGH.
Trixie had lingered just outside the castle doors for as long as she could. Until the last of the carriages disappeared into the night. She knew that she was going to have to go inside eventually but she was definitely in no hurry. Facing all those happy faces and talk of the holidays was definitely not very appealing to her rignt now, especially since her summer vaction had totally sucked!
If she didn't make a move however, she would surely be locked out which wouldn't be a bad thing if she had anywhere else to go. With another heavy sigh of resignation, Trixie dragged her feet and made her way into the Entrance Hall on her way to the feast, she was forestalled by a few people lingering about.
She was about to excuse herself so that she could pass through but the sight of her fellow Gryffindor and friend Tenacius seemingly about to get into trouble had Trixie pausing for a moment. That and the new shiny badge she had just noticed.
Were the Professors crazy? Who in their right mind would make Ace a Prefect? No offence, dude.
Trixe took a step to the side so that she could watch what was going to happen withoutbeing in the way when she lightly bumped into someone standing in the doorway. Another one of her housemates, only this one looked slightly lost or something.
"You look about as eager to go inside as I do." Trixie gave the older girl a faint smile. "You okay Aslan?"

Salander's plight went unnoticed, as did her fellow Gryffindor until the younger witch bumped into her, and then, try as she might not even Aslan was absent enough to ignore the girl. Blinking in..... Ricki? Tina? What Jenkies? whatever her name was' direction, it took some time and much staring before a reply crept it's way up her throat, through her teeth and past her naturally rosy lips. "Yes, I'm not a fan." It as an obvious statement but from what Aslan had come to learn about humans they seemed much more comforted when you offered them words.
This girl (Miffy? Soledad? It was Something... cute for lack of a better term) looked less than pleased herself. "Fine." She waved a hand, mentally but not physically shrugging away the other Gryffindor's question. "Why aren't you excited." Aslan asked, her tone as still and calm as a fresh water pond. Her mind was still going, still thinking and the slight glaze over her eyes gave it away.
None the less, she was listening for she assumed, one way or another that this encounter would prove at the very least to be a mild distraction.

Okaaaaay.
Trixie knew that she was not the brightest sparkler in the fireworks box but she wasn't totally stupid either. The fourth year knew when her question was being ignored and that the older girl really didn't want to talk to her. She should be used to it by now since her parents had pretty much ignored her all summer, but it still hurt some.
She was just about to apologise and go on her way when Aslan surprised her by showing some interest in...her. Trixe felt a small warm glow spread throughout her and she almost smiled. Almost. She was still peeved with her family and she didn't really expect her mood to improve that easily.
Her gaze moved to the Gryffindor table where she could already see friends and housemates chatting happily to each other. "Because my life sucks and their's obviously don't. " She said with a nod of her head in the direction of the Gryffindor table. "And I'm likely to punch someone in tbe throat if I have to hear how exciting their summer was." Yeah she was being a moody brat, but hey she was fourteen so it was allowed.
Trixe turned back to look at the sixth year and shrugged. "You don't have to make small talk if you don't want to, I can see that your mind is elsewhere." While she wouldn't mind some attention, she was not about to let on about it. She wasn't that pathetic.

Ok that was more of an educated guess because Tenacius did demo this flying object as homework in HoM. So Professor Newton knows..... like both of them. Maybe.
But right show him. "Here it is." the Gryffindor Ace held his hand aloft to the Caretaker..... and in his hand was a single sickle.
Show him the money. Like literally.

The blonde was NOT going to cry nope no not over this missing bracelet. She was going to find it if it took searching everyone in this castle she was going to find it. She did appreciate that Flynn was trying to help her. She had done all the normal things that was done when things went missing. Accioing it was one and the first thing she did. "Yes, yes. I tried accioing it, but I don't think it worked." She supposed she could try that again. "My name is nowhere on it." More frowning.
She whipped her wand out of her robes right when the Gryffindor Prefect came cruising through her path of looking for her bracelet. That was so rude, interfering with a search and recuse. Not to mention a crime scene. "Hellllooooo, Tencuius. Did he have a licence to drive that thing? That was a better question.
She took wand, got ready to try the summoning charm, " Accio..... HELLO!" She looked at the sleeve for her robes and there it was hooked to the fabric. "I FOUND IT. I FOUND IT.' In her excited she hugged both Mr. Flynn and the perfect. She had found it, her parents were not going to be mad her at. All was well in the world.

"That's a load of fluxweed and you know it!" Flynn grunted displeased at the sight of the sickle. The boy was lying straight to his face. He could set his good name on the fact that the boy had not at all gotten his flying object approved by his head of house at all. Why couldn't he just show him the object and not make it all worse for himself?
Shaking his head Flynn said, his mood dropping by the minute along with his patience. "That's not the right object! Show me the right object that I know you still have behind your back or I will escort you straight to HoH Newton and interrupt his feast, and you can have the honour of explaining to him why he shouldn't throw you in detention for lying and bringing an forbidden flying object onto school property. It's your choice!" Kids, some just didn't care about rules.

Flynn was waiting on the Gryffindor boy to make his next move, hopefully for his sake the right one when the badger girl threw herself at him, for a hug. Stiffening he stood, being embraced by the now happy and excited girl. Merlin some children's moods shifted quicker than he could say Chinese Fireball. When the girl had taken a step away from him Flynn said actually a smidge happy for her. "Good for you! Now that you've found your bracelet again, mark it with your name and wear it around your neck, until you can put it somewhere where you won't lose it."

Gulp. Ok he's kinda forgotten how cross the Caretaker can be. "But a sickle isnt forbidden...." the Curly Top started to whine. "I aint hidin' nuthin' look." he turned around showing the grumpy man his back with his arms outstretched, clearly there was nothing there he could hide. "This was part of my History of Magic homework last term honest! You can ask Professor Newton about it-- i mean Lady Newton. My Head of House would be aware of it too because.... well dont they talk?" Like family talk to each other right? Well his does anyway "Besides.... this helps me get around school. And I got so much more to do now with Prefect things and stuff and... come one man I need more help getting around than just two legs."
