Gryffindor Boys' Dorms

Thanks to Joel/Charely Potter

Along the climb from the common room, multiple doors are situated off the stairs. Each student has their name on a door. Students of the same age are housed together.

From the start of the spiral staircase branching off from the common room are the boy's dormitories. First years are allocated the dormitories down the bottom, and the higher you climb, the older the residents are. This is so that seventh years, who are roomed up the very top, have a little less noise reaching their dorm so that they may study in quiet or rest well in preparation for exams. There are 2+ dorm rooms for each year.

Every dorm room is equipped with a centrally-located stove, to keep you all warm. Each of you will have your own four poster bed, flanked by a set of windows and space for storing personal belongings. On the window sill is a jug of water and a cup, supplied and freshened daily by the elves. There is a place for your trunk and individual wardrobes to hang your clothing. Space isn't an issue, thanks to the many charms.

Unfortunately the girls are able to climb up the boy's dormitories, but have no fear! There are charms on the doors: if a female enters, she would grow a beard!

Default Blaise.
Wowza!

Levi had sort of been working over-time to disregard the specific rules of curfew. This had turned out to be entirely more complicated than what the boy had originally anticipated but there was something to be said about prefects being a little overwhelmed with the enormous student body, probably. He could only imagine having to deal with half a dozen of first years wanting to go to the lop at the same time while older students requested to be escorted to the library or strolls down the grounds with significant others. The thought was enough to make him laugh (which he would doubtlessly feel bad about, later) so by the time he snuck back into his dormitory, there was for sure a bounce to his step.

He went straight for his bed and began to methodically shrug out of his school robes to shrug into his pajamas as he examined his mess. Though, in his head, the post it notes spread all over his trunk, headboard, footboard and even the lower side of his bed were a clear, organized schedule of his revision sessions. He frowned, noting that there seemed to be a strange space in between leisure reading (Muggle Botanics!) and having dinner (accompanied by reviewing the day's notes!).

The boy's head titled to one side. "Hey, Blaise," he called, fully expecting his roommate to be there even though Levi himself had not been until just "Do you remember if I'm supposed to do something after reading on Muggle Herbology but before dinner?" Levi got down in all fours and began inspecting under his bed for a misplaced post it.

Blaise was in fact in bed, on one of the rare nights he decided not to actively fight this curfew business. It was a major pain in the butt to be sure but with so much homework due the next day and a Common Room full of rowdy Gryffindors, an early evening in the dorm hadn't seemed like such a bad idea.

Now finished, he'd taken the time to review some of the things his quill had taken down throughout the day. It was always interesting to see the way it twisted a situation. Far better than the dull reality the school had slipped into. The boy was just about through the lunch conversations his quick quotes had taken down when the prodigal roommate returned. Had he noticed Levi's absence? In truth, not really, but that was a direct result of how engrossed he was in his reading. With him back, the boy now had questions but apparently so did he.

"My quill might have taken it down." Considering it took down just about everything said in the dorms and elsewhere. Blaise nodded toward the boy, gesturing his enchanted notebook over for him to have a look. Chances were, he'd sooner find the entry than whatever he was looking for under his bed. "Three pages back, maybe." It'd been a long, interesting day.

"Where've you been?" Another notepad lifted as he gestured to it and his quill was set to work. Someone having a look through your book was no reason to stop documenting.

Levi hadn't actually found anything of value under the bed, unless he counted discarded socks, ignored letters from home, empty inkwells and what appeared to be the remnants of a howler. And he didn't. So he pretended he hadn't seen them and stood back up, reaching for Blaise's nextbook. If he was in the business of being honest, and Levi often was, he had to admit this felt like a transgression. It didn't matter that Blaise had given him permission to do so, or that he was strictly following his roommate's instructions, but, well--sometimes certain feelings could not be helped.

His ears were red by the time he found what he was looking for. "It says here I was supposed to take a power nap." Which would explain why he'd almost fallen asleep over dinner while Althea went on and on about how dreadful her day had supposedly been. He never believed a word she said because his sister, mostly because he felt his sister could made a career out of complaining, if such a thing was possible. "That's unfortunate." Levi closed the notebook and used his wand to send it back to Blaise's space.

The fifth year went through his trunk, pulling out a new set of post its. With the help of of his wand and his self-inking quill, he began to take care of his schedule for the next day. "I was out with my siblings." This wasn't a new thing. "Declan was doing was throwing the bones and then doing the usual reading near the dungeons," Levi enthused, flicking his wand to make Transfiguation and Potions switch places. "I'm stressed and his attempts at helping me deal with it are questionable and probably selfish, but eh." He shrugged. At least he tried.

A power nap? "Merlin I don't think I'd have forgotten something like that." Too many classes he wanted to skip and naps were the perfect way to do so. Blaise would likely have prepared hours in an advance. This sort of thing, afterall, didn't just happen on its own when you felt like it. "Reckon if I was scheduled for a power nap I'd wait til Charms then make it a full blown snooze fest." Which he'd done a few times. Other times it was a walk on the grounds, catching up on OTHER homework, reading through his notepad or convincing his girlfriend to skip with him. Clara...took very little convincing when it came to skipping thankfully.

Blaise hadn't consistently attended a Charms or Transfiguration class since the first week of his First Year at Hogwarts. It was an ingrained habit now, even with the occasional academic probation and the Headmistress directly telling him he had to. He simply would did not and would not do magic, least of all for a whole bloody hour.

Bone reading though. "Did he see anything ominous or interesting in your future? Otherwise it might have been a total waste." Plenty other ways to enjoy yourself and distract from stress when you were out pass curfew. The Room of Requirements was always a great bet. "And what's got you so stressed anyway? Don't tell me it's that portal and those missing students." His notepad was full to bursting with whiners and worriers all talking about the same thing. He was done hearing and reading it now. It got to the point the boy began instructing his quill to stand down.

His pages would be better spent on other topics, obviously.

Levi shrugged, hoping it'd convey that he didn't care about missing a nap but knowing it was totally the opposite. He was genetically engineered to care about most things, either from a selfish standpoint, or otherwise. It was unfortunate. "Charms." He tilted his head back, admiring the post-its he'd levitated. He liked to think looking at them like this gave him better perspective but, mostly, he thought they looked cool. "Marchand made us camouflage Easter eggs with a disillusionment charm. Then we had to do an Easter eggs hunt in the middle of the classroom. Very stimulating stuff." Though Levi had more or less checked out by then; he'd grown too distracted with the fact that Marchand had said summoning human beings was doable. "He also said people can just be summoned. Sounds wild to me. Anyway, I took notes, if you want to go over them."

It sounded unscrupulous, which magic was, in a lot of ways. But it struck him as unlikely that if summoning a human being was doable then how on Merlin's name were people not doing it left and right? Magic had laws. To summon a human being was to rob them off their free will and there were ways to do that but it was certainly illegal; and Marchand hadn't said it was illegal so much as he said it was dangerous which was not the same thing. Wording was important. Levi would know; he was a Gryffindor. "Maybe he meant the Imperius curse? Hmm." He caught one of the post its and in his scrawly penmanship wrote, dig up info on unforgivable curses and summoning charms. "Though that is not a charm."

He sent the post-it flying again, and made it stick itself to the headboard. Then he took three from the air and wrote the same thing in each: Power nap before dinner!!! "There's turbulent quality to my aura, but he's always saying that. I think he's just pulling my leg or trying to use my energy to summon something creepy. Probably both." Levi scratched his chin with the tip of his wand. "Nah, I don't care about that." Which sounded really bad, so he quickly amended, after a sideways glance at Blaise, by saying, "I mean, I'm glad those kids came back alive and whatnot, y'know," Obviously. He wasn't a monster. But. "I just want it gone so the school doesn't have to shut down." He shrugged, again, feeling only a little bad. "But I guess I just want to be done with OWLs and all that."

"Wow, covering two things I absolutely couldn't care less about in one lesson. Professor Marchand's on a roll right there." Granted, Blaise was uninterested in all spells and all forms of magic that could be taught in either Charms or Transfiguration but he was pretty sure those two fell high up there on the list of things he'd rather not learn. Look at him regretting his absence in that class even less. "I'll go over them when I've got some free time. Mind duplicating them for me?" Because...y'know...he wasn't gonna do it himself. No thanks. Kid didn't even know where his wand was at current.

"It is a charm actually." Blaise corrected, flopping onto his pillow. "Falls under an area of charms known as dark charms which are subdivided into hexes, jinxes and curses." Not attending classes typically meant he had a lot to catch up on and even more reading than the average person who attended every single one. Consequently, he knew more than he cared to on the subject of magic. "So yeah, it'd be a charm, just a dark one." It was all dark if you asked him...which was probably why no one ever asked him. Kid definitely knew what was up.

And you know what? That actually sounded pretty neat. "If he ever does summon something creepy, you gotta let me know." He'd love to have his quill take it down, get a good story floating around the school. It would fit right in with everything else that was going on. "But you don't have to explain." It was all the same to him if others cared about the once missing and now apparently hospitalized. "I get the OWL thing, mostly because I'm sure I'll lose my summer entirely if certain grades aren't where my parents expect them to be. Got too many plans banking on these exams going well. D'you think you're ready?"

Levi didn't make a habit of snickering because every time he felt like doing it was because he was being, one way or another, unkind. But it wasn't like Professor Marchand was here to hear Blaise, so the fifth year didn't put up much of a fight. Or any. "Yeah, yeah." Levi waved his wand around in an okay, no problem sort of gesture at his roommate, causing his trunk to burst open and some of its contents flew out. Some of which landed in other people's beds.

He couldn't say he'd ever understand Blaise's dislike for Charms or Transfiguration. But in moments like this he almost could. Levi sighed then pretended nothing out of ordinary had occurred. "I thought it was more like dark spells. But I'll take your word for it." It wasn't like him to engage in discussions he wanted certain he could win, especially if he could not cite sources from the top of his head. Also, he was tired.

Post-its still floating around him, Levi collected his notes from is messenger bag and said, "Geminio." It took a couple of times, in all honesty, to get it right. And the duplicate did seemingly take its time to fully become corporeal. But this was a victory he was willing to take. "Alright." It was possible that Declan would not be okay with their exploits being known by anyone he didn't personally approve of, but, well--he'd never stated it was forbidden either. Levi reasoned, then, that he could not be faulted for babbling away. "Right now, I feel great about them. But if I end up failing, I'll cry." He shrugged, simply and without a trace of embarrassment. Without those Os and Es he'd say goodbye by to the healing program. Levi had never seen a healer crying, so wouldn't crying in the case of failure be a logical reaction, then? "What plans are these? Just try to remember me when you're obscenely rich and famous, I guess."

Bentley hadn't been back to the dorm since he left that morning for class. He had spent the rest of the evening hanging out with Chloe...yes alone because he figured he was responsible enough to take care of his girlfriend without a prefect hovering over them the whole.

Not that they had wandered off anywhere or anything, the blonde had turned into an OWL obsessed maniac and forced them to spend most of their time in the library.

He burst into the dorm loudly, because he was a Bentley and Bentleys were obnoxiously loud.

He threw his bag unto Blaise's bed, because that was also what Bentleys did and plopped down on his.

"What are we talking about?" He asked looking at both of them.

He really should take his word for it. In the absence of any real magic being cast on his part, the boy had made himself intimately acquainted with the corresponding textbooks. Knowing the material wasn't the problem, his willingness to cast was. "They've all got the potential to be 'dark spells'." Regardless of the actual categorization. Take "incendio" for instance. It made fires that kept you warm but it could also roast one of his notebooks through and through; a terrifying idea in truth, especially after that detention with Professor Primeaux in which he'd resolved himself to dying in that fire before the tip of his notepad caught fire and the whole game changed.

And look at that, duplicated notes already. Blaise had been willing to wait til the end of the week to really nudge him with a reminder but this worked out even better. "Thanks mate." More to add to his growing collection of theoreticals. He'd pass these exams yet, even with minimal magical effort.

"I don't think I'd cry but that's probably because I'm neither here nor there about them." It was easy to not give two sickles about the exams when you didn't know where your future was heading and didn't see it being majorly impacted by them. "I'm just...I dunno...I want them over and done with so I can go back to doing the bare minimum for a while." Y'know, until the NEWTs rolled around. The boy was about to add his summer plans when his cousin showed up. 'Bout time. Blaise shoved Bentley's things off his bed in indication proper rent needed to be paid for such actions before humouring him with a response. "Summer plans and those horrid OWLs."

He turned to Levi again. "Might go back to the Caribbean with Bentley, spend some time at his and make some easy cash at the Hotel his parents own. Julie's friend told her about some trip and now she's trying to get our parents to take one I think but other than that, I'm not really sure yet. What about you?"

Levi would have gone on to elaborate that crying was better than just keeping it everything in, which was something he knew firsthand. He didn't necessarily like it, or even did it all the time, and he did have the decency to hide himself somewhere and cast a silencing charm when he did it, but. It was cathartic. Levi was of the belief that everyone should do it at least once a month.

But then Bentley had walked in all his glory or whatever and Levi began humming quietly to himself for a moment as he used his wand to make the Defense Against the Dark Arts post-it switch places with the Potions one. "Were ya out in some clandestine bone reading session, too, Bentley?" Ha. It was comforting to know he was at least not the only one breaking curfew. Which wasn't surprising, really; as far as Levi was concerned, it was pretty clear the new set of rules hadn't taken into consideration the entirety of the Gryffindor house.

He turned to look at Blaise. "Oh, you know, the usual," the boy said, with a shrug, and a slightly painful smile. "The parental until want me and my siblings to work on pops' restaurant for less than minimum wage because it builds character or something." Mostly, he was pretty sure it was done to keep all three Kenning spawn from sneaking out at night and carrying on with their exploits all over London, muggle or otherwise. "My plan, however, is to ignore them and get an internship at an apothecary." It'd make a good reference, or so Healer Reed had said. "Where in the Caribbean are you two going?" He was only a little bit jealous, to his credit.

Bentley returned his things to Blaise's bed (rude) before flopping back into his. The fifth year groaned and rolled over. He was soooo tired of hearing about OWLs. Everytime he heard from his parents or grandparents it was about OWLs, heck, every time he tried to hang out with his girlfriend the first thing out of her mouth was OWLs.

"I'm already so sick of OWLs." He groaned. He was content to discuss summer plans though, anything that didn't start with O, even the fact that he may end up working over the summer AGAIN.

"Donno why the parents insist on forcing us to work. Working is a very adult thing to do, yet they insist on treating us like children. I'll never understand them."

He then rolled unto his back again and locked his hands behind his head, using them like a pillow. "Jamaica." He said responding to Levi's question. Man he couldn't wait to get home. Sun, sea, sand and jerk chicken was waiting for him at home.

"You and me both, cousin, you and me both. Blaise was equally as sick of hearing about OWL.s. It was safe to say that by now he fully understood the weight of these exams and DIDN'T need a reminder every few hours or so.

Yes. Super duper important exams. Yes, had to pass. No, didn't care to have it brought up so often.

By the sounds of it, they would all be having a summer of work. "Now hold on there." He cautioned his cousin. "Nothing wrong with working at that hotel, it was a good summer last year," of doing nothing all day, "and I think I'd like to go back and do it again." And why wouldn't he? Free drinks on the beach (that were for the guests), nice comfy beds to nap in during the day (that were also for the guests) and all those pretty girls by the beach (that Clara would likely never hear about for the sake of his own sanity). Sounded like a pretty good summer to him. "I think we should be more open-minded about this, mate." So...don't tell Auntie Rhea there were unwilling or anything.

"Less than minimum wage though....that sucks. You sure they'll let you completely ignore them and just hit the Apothecary anyway?" Because in his experience, parents were not easily ignored--not when they were still giving him summer spending money and so graciously not forcing him into summer magic classes to supplement the minuscule amount they thought he learned during the year. "Still, I say go for it. Minimum wage in a place you don't wanna be doesn't build character." Hah, no, it probably did the exact opposite.

His lack of concentration caused some of the post its to fall around him, which caused a frown to make its way to his forehead. Levi scratched the back of his head with one hand and used his hand to send the post its back up in the air with only a little bit effort. "Hmm." Was his only comment at first. Transfiguration before or after Astronomy? Dedicate more time to Ancient Runes or just completely give up on that one?

Levi promptly shoved his Ancient Runes post it aside. It was just best to be realistic, really. "Working at a hotel," Sounded better than a restaurant that mostly hosted rich, middle aged people. They were the worst, occasional amazing tips aside. "Sounds like a dream. Imagine all the tourists." Levi was not actually talking about all tourists, to be clear. But he did not want to get too specific. His cheeks colored pink, a little bit. "Well, you don't need to imagine that, of course." Levi paused, for a moment, fighting a grin that would have probably looked more like a smirk and giving his post its all his attention. "Are your girlfriends tagging along, too?"

If he had a girlfriend and he was going to spend the summer living it up in Jamaica, Levi was pretty sure he'd most definitely--

--invite her. He was, sadly, that predictable. Or good? Boring? It was sometimes hard to tell. This made him frown, though it shouldn't have; Levi was not opposed to acquainting himself well with girls, but the idea of a girlfriend seemed quite foreign to him. Something about not having met the right one was probably something Noelle would say. Or maybe he just didn't like the idea of having to explain himself. Which he could only presume was what having a girlfriend would entail. "I mean, I agree with you," he said, at last, as he pushed up his glasses. Then he shrugged. "But I think this is my dad's idea of showing us the value of hard work, or something. As if he hadn't had everything given to him." Hypocrisy was rampant in adults.
