If you keep walking into the classroom you'll notice to the right of you there are tons of thick poster paper, paints, markers and other art supplies. Once you make it towards the table you'll see Professor Salvatore sitting at her desk and a chalkboard with writing on it.

As you keep looking around there are all different kinds of canvas paintings on the wall of stars, the sun, moon, the planets in our solar systems and galaxies hanging on the walls. Professor Salvatore had done a nice little remodel of the Astronomy classroom. She didn't really care for desks so she had tables set up in three long rows that would allow two students to sit at each table. On each table there is a photograph of the solar system.

Leon walked into the Astronomy tower, his hands in his pockets as he looked around. Was he the first one here? He had been a little too excited about this class, not only was it one of his favorite subject, but it was close to the common room!

He looked around the room to see art supplies, something that excited him. He loved to draw and sketch..
His grey eyes scanned the various pairings of the solar system..
"Hello Professor Salvatore. " He said with a smile as he found a seat at one of the tables. "How are you today? " He asked as he looked down at the map of the solar system..
He was going to hazard a guess and say they were studying the solar system?
"Hello Mr Kennedy. I'm doing wonderful today." she smiled. "How are you?"

Brent was early to class. It was just him and that Ravenclaw dude he'd barely spoken to in Diagon Alley. He gave the guy a nod in greeting then looked around the classroom. True to this school's nature, there weren't any desks, but at least there were tables. Brent could deal with those. He was just getting a little tired of the mats and pillows he'd been sitting on. He liked a place to put his stuff and a table to write on.
"Hello, Professor!" he greeted, passing her by and heading toward a table. As he put down his bag and got seated, he looked at the pictures on the table. Hmm. Cool. There was also lots of art supplies around, which gave him hope they'd be doing something fun and not just listening to a lecture. Hopefully somebody would come sit with him. He was all about hanging out with some friends.

Zoryn zooooooooomed into the classroom and did a bunch of twirls in excitement upon seeing the crafting supplies. "Yooo are we doing arts and crafts today, Professor!?!" Zoryn couldn't even wait until she got all the way to the Professor Salvatore's desk to ask. Her curiosity had bested her and she was already trying to figure out what they'd be doing for the day.
And man, did she sure hope it was arts and crafts.
'Cause then she could send it home and her mom would put them up all nice on the refrigerator. How awesome would that be!?!?! SUPER AWESOME. That's how.

Once there, she’d settled into the seat and turned her attention to the picture in front of her. Definitely the planets, but then she already knew that. Hoepfully they’d learn something new.

If Cassie wasn’t so used to climbing a lot of stairs to get to her common room every day, the trek to Astronomy would be torture. "Hello to you as well Mr Winchester." if he didn't have the time to greet her then she could greet him. It was very impolite as a Head Boy to not greet your professor.

Wait...were they going to draw? Derf had been under the impression that astronomy meant science talk...not art projects. But the latter he could probably handle more easily so he wouldn't cause THAT much of a fuss. Shrugging off some of his low key disappointment, he pulled at the picture the professor had provided them - the one he had trapped underneath his suitcase - and glanced at Zoryn again. "You fink we are going to draw our own planet? Fere is a mys-s-stery ninth one out fere s-s-somewhere..." he whispered to her just before a soft riiiiiiiiiipping noise alerted him to the fact that he had just torn his picture in half.

Professor Salvatore had noticed a student walk in but she didn't really pay any attention to it, she just kept on with her notes and making sure everything was in order with this lesson. It was until she heard some yelling that she looked up at the child who was speaking to her. "Hello to you as well, Mr. Ashburry-Hawthorne." she shook her head and had a smile on her face as she greeted him back.
Oh, goodness. Today was going to be a very long day. Caroleena stood up, walked over to her desk, she opened the little drawer on top and took out a new picture of the solar system. "I believe you need a new one of these, Mr. Ashburry-Hawthorne." her voice was a bit stern as she walked over to the table that the younger student was at and handed him a new photograph. "Please try not to rip this one, I haven't got any others." she knew that he was young and something like this would happen to some of the younger students but she was telling the truth when she said that was last photograph she had with her.

Abey really really didn't want to be late, but he was also really really really worried that maybe he actually WOULD be, because he had barely seen anyone he knew on the way up to the Astronomy tower, and he knew that class was meant to be RIGHT NOW and he HAD let time get away from him just a little bit.
And so that was the reason he ended up RUNNING FULL PELT into the classroom door as he reached it, essentially barging into the room.
"DidImakeit?????" he blurted out breathlessly, gasping for air (hey, that was a lot of stairs) and, actually, sweating a fair bit actually. Uhhhhh... it was kind of difficult to tell, but people were still taking their seats and all so Abey assumed he was still on time maybe sort of probably pleasedon'tshoutatmeteacherladypleeeeease.
He might have dithered over where he wanted to sit for a good long while, an anxious habit, had it not been for the feeling that everyone was STARING at him. So instead, actually, Abey moved straight towards JUNIA. He could see that there was a whole two people to each table thing, but there wasn't TIME to find someone he knew that was free, so instead Abey just went right ahead and joined Junia and the Slytherin boy she was sat with. He gave them both an nervous sort of smile in greeting too. Hi. Hello. Pleasedon'tmakemeleave.
Except there wasn't any extra chair there, so he tried to squish his way onto Junia's chair and share with her. That would be okay, right? He was only small you see actually so he could absolutely fit and they were family so it was all fine because family shared everything practically actually.

That was right, there were three Botros'. Maybe if she jotted down their names on a sticky note she would remember how many there were at this school. "No need to worry, you're just in time Mr Botros!" she smiled warmly at him. "I was just about to close the door."
Caroleena stood up erased what was on the chalkboard. She wasn’t going to write anything on the chalkboard at this very moment. The Frenchwoman walked towards the back of the class room and closed the door. Professor Salvatore walked back up to the front of the room and stood in front of her desk. First she wanted to get some introductions out of the way.
“Happy November everyone! We’re getting closer towards Christmas break and I’m sure with all of the homework that your other professors have been giving you, you’ll be very happy to have a break for your classes and homework!” the woman with the Irish-French accent said in a cheery tone. She was trying cheery this time around. Teaching at a different school was interesting, she still didn’t have a full feel for Hogwarts.
“First off, I am Professor Caroleena Salvatore, Hogwarts’ newest Astronomy professor.” she smiled at them as she walked towards the front of her desk and leaned on it. “You may not call me Caroleena. You may however call me ma’am or Professor Salvatore.” which was the more acceptable names for a professor and her students relationship. She was here to teach then and not be there friend but if they need advice for anything or help with Astronomy she was more than willing to help them out.
“For today’s lesson we will be learning about the planets in our solar system. There are eight planets in our solar system. Can anyone tell me which planet is the farthest away from the sun?”

Oh, Astronomy was faaaaaascinating, even if Katy wasn't sure about this professor yet. The universe was vast, which meant there was plenty yet to discover. Plenty to learn.
She took her seat with an eager smile on her face. "Good day, Professor. Did you paint these yourself?" The professor sort of looked like her Auntie Tune, if you squinted a little bit. "Neptune!" Ironic, no? That was her auntie's name!
"Hello Professor Salvatore, how are you?" the Ravenclaw prefect greeted the Astronomy professor politely, before making her way to the back of the class as far away from everyone else as she could be. She had a slight cold that day and was trying to protect her classmates from getting it too. Right after class she'd go to the hospital wing for relief. For now she'd put on a brave face and try to not sneeze.
She raised her hand. "I know this isn't technically the right answer, but Pluto is a dwarf planet and used to be considered the ninth planet before it was officially downgraded."

Leon barely had time for a head nod, before class started.
Ohhhh.. well this was an interesting question, though of course easily answered. It seemed someone had already given an answer, though Leon had his own spin on the question..

"Pluto, unless you don't consider that a planet. I think it's classified as a dwarf planet now?" He asked her politely and respectfully, after all this was her subject.. "If not then Neptune as she said. " He motioned to the Slytherin girl whose name he wasn't fully sure of. Katy? Maybe?

Skylar was present and accounted for despite not having a high opinion for the subject thus far. But who could blame her? Her first year she was taught by resident crazypants, aka Airey Flamsteed. Whom she had mostly been distracted by his antics to pay much attention to the material being taught. And last year she had a ghost professor, who was nice enough but once again, Sky found herself having not learned much.
Most of her friends already were seated with someone and since only two to a desk, Sky found herself sharing a desk with an unfamiliar Ravenclaw (Cassandra McNally) to whom she smiled at and would have introduced herself but by then the professor was starting.
Eighth planet from the sun? Seriously? Even she knew that; that was like nine year old level. Katy answered already, but not wanting to be outshined, Sky's hand shot up with some useless space knowledge, "The eighth planet from the sun is Neptune, as Katy said, which also happens to be fourth largest planet and shines blue due to the way red color gets absorbed by methane." she may have watched some science shows on the muggle television box a few times..

She turned her attention towards the professor, having her quill and book ready. And this professor was new... oh. Interesting. She seemed so... serious. Kind of.
The fourth year put down her quill and raised a hand, answering the question. "Neptune." Since, like the others said, Pluto was a dwarf planet. Which is kind of sad, when you think about it. Poor Pluto.

Brent caught the wave from the lil bro and gave him a half nod in return. Thanks for coming to sit with me, stranger. He literally had not hung out with his brother in weeks. Was Hogwarts really that much bigger than Ilvermorny?
Brent turned his attention to the professor, who had launched into an introduction of sorts. Of course he wouldn't call her by her first name. The first question was pretty easy. Brent raised his hand in the air. "I agree with her," he said, looking toward Katy again. Hadn't he just agreed with her in other class? "Neptune!" He didn't go into all that other jazz the other students had mentioned. The question was pretty straightforward and had an easy answer.

Zoryn kicked her feet around under the table (these things really shouldn’t be one-size fits all) because her little legs couldn’t reach her feet to the floor. So instead she sat kicking them around restlessly. WHEN WOULD CLASS START?!?!?
Basically she just had to watch EVERYONE who walked into the classroom in order to keep herself occupied. Most people looked familiar ISH, but Zoryn didn’t know any names. Which was sad because she still didn’t have a friend to sit by her yet. Until GryffinMOM (Noelle) made an entrance into the classroom. Because that got Zoryn hype all over again. HI GRYFFINMOM!!!!! Zoryn waved super enthusiastically at her prefect. Gryffindor was truly #blest with the #best.
Shortly after waving like a madman at Noelle, Zoryn saw DERF making his way towards HER table!!!! YAY FRIEND! ”Hi!” she greeted him, BEAMING at him all nice.
She made big eyes at the sound of the rip, but tried her best to pay attention as he talked (there was just so much happening around them that it was hard to focus). ”If we draw our own, mine is gonna be PINK!” Why this was necessary information? Also. She needed to work on her whispering.

As for the first question, Zoryn had NO idea. There was some sort of rhyme to remember them.... But Zoryn didn't remember the rhyme. So she went with the best possible answer she could think of ('cause everyone else was repeating the same thing and Zoryn wanted to be ORIGINAL!!!).

For some reason a pink planet sounded a little scary - like WHAT made it pink?! The earth was all blue and brown and green and stuff because of water and land masses...but PINK?! A planet covered in Pandalus jordani or Pandalus borealis maybe - but if Zoryn wanted a pink planet then she could have one.
"Probably make mine green," he nodded. A BUNCH of shades of green...SWIRLS even. Like gases...which meant that his planet would be a gas one. Huh, interesting how aesthetics could sort some of those details out.
He was just in the middle of moving his enchanted suitcase off his desk when the professor came over. Oh...she had seen that. Erm... "S-S-Sorry, profes-s-sor," he stammered more than usual. "Or...could maybe just mend this one? Wiff a Mending Charm...fat way you can keep your last one." And he wouldn't have to panic about potentially ruining this one too. Like...with spilled paint or something...which was practically a given seeing as he was sitting next to a certain Gryffindor.
And then class began...and Derf was SO not prepared. No parchment nor quill out on his desk...so there was a bit of scrambling to get all THAT set up. But it did give him time to listen, sort of, to other's answers and he was pleased that his answer was DIFFERENT.
"PLANET NINE!" he chirped eagerly in response when it was his turn. It was way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay far away.
But then he HAD to nudge Zoryn with his elbow. "Psssssssst...the Moon isn't a planet...it's a moon." There was a better word for it...but it was escaping the first year at the moment.

Sensing the lesson was getting c loser to beginning, Elle had looked up at the sound of a semi-familiar voice speaking from near her to see Rula standing there. Any sense of awkwardness that might have been there on her end wasn’t visible as she’d merely nodded. Of course she didn’t mind. They did have something in common after all, aside from both being Slytherins, and she figured it was easier having Rula as her table partner than it would be someone she didn’t know anything about.
However, unsurprisingly, the lesson had in fact begun, as the professor had closed the door and then returned to the front. Elle had merely blinked at the necessity to tell them what they should call her, too. She could only speak for herself, but she’d never considered referring to any professors by their first names. Even if she knew them.
She hadn’t needed to announcement that they were studying the planets either. That had been kind of obvious. But she’d stayed silent regarding the question. Instead, she’d merely written ‘Neptune’ on the parchment she’d laid out on the table in front of herself. There wasn’t a need to repeat everyone else’s answers, not when she knew it was correct.

ooh. Planets! That was such a good subject, and Hattie was excited. She loved learning about planets. Now the question was interesting. Hattie had read about planets, and old text books, so she knew a little bit about planets. She knew the answer of course, but there were some interesting facts around it. "It depends on if you're talking about just the big planets or all classification of planets" Hattie mused with a smile. "Pluto is now a dwarf planet, but once was the last planet in our solar system. Some people believe that it still is, and that it shouldn't have been classified differently. But when it was it meant Neptune was the last planet" And that had been a mouthful. Maybe she shouldn't had said so much? oh well.

Before coming to Hogwarts, it hadn't really occurred to Sinead that she would be studying Astronomy. They'd hardly studied space at all at her primary school, and she'd never taken that much of an interest in it, holding a slight disdain for the muggle sciences in favour of the magic she knew she'd be able to learn one day. But she just kind of assumed she'd be good at it anyway, it couldn't be that hard, right?
So... when Professor Salvatore asked the first question of class, and Sinead raised her hand by instinct, it took her a moment to realise that... she didn't actually know.
It wasn't even a hard question! It was just a simple fact- and she didn't know?!
Withdrawing her hand hastily before she was actually asked to respond, she looked down at the sheet of paper on her table, scanning it and coming to a tentative answer just as her classmates practically all answered the question, leaving her in the dust. This was going terribly so far. Please let her get better at this lesson.

Well, this Slytherin was quite friendly, wasn't he? It seemed Junia had selected a good table buddy after all, which was a huge relief. No one wanted to sit with someone intolerable for a whole lesson. What a way to suffer.
"I'm Junia," The third year had offered with a smile, observing the boy thoughtfully. She was about to say more when Rula arrived, followed shortly by Abey. His entrance was actually kind of funny and Junia couldn't help but smile. It was good he'd made it on time because he didn't want to start the lesson off being repriman-
..."Abey, hi, this is my seat." Yeah, the one he was currently sitting on as well, it was hers. She'd claimed it with her bottom ages ago! Had it been bigger, she wouldn't have minded sharing with her cousin but it wasn't bigger. Not at all. "Why don't I help you find-"
...But then class had started. Class had started, Abey was sharing her seat, and there was no way Junia could get up now without disrupting the lesson.

Because Junia knew about the planets but tended to mix up the order on occasion-particularly for some of the planets on the far end-she didn't offer up an answer. She did, however, nod solemnly at what the other members of the class seemed to agree on. Yes, yes, that one. It was obviously that one.
Also funny how they were learning about space and Junia currently had none.
Listening to what the professor was saying she immediately thought back at what she had learned at her Dutch muggle school about the planets and she started muttering a mnemonic she’d learned there; Melige verschikkelijke aardappelen maken je snel uitermaten naar… counting on her fingers she eventually knew the answer and she raised her hand with a smile. “It’s Neptune, professor” she said.

You may however call me ma’am or Professor Salvatore.” which was the more acceptable names for a professor and her students relationship. She was here to teach then and not be there friend but if they need advice for anything or help with Astronomy she was more than willing to help them out.

Carlton nodded, vigorously. "Very excited. I like space." That's where Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi hung out.
He didn't have time to answer the professor's first question though as loads of hands shot up in the air. He bounced a little in his seat, repeating the rhyme they'd taught him at school to remember all the planets in order from the sun and outward.
Eager to be part of the discussion, even though the right answer had already been said he waved his hand in the air. "Neptune is far away from the sun, another planet that is far away from the sun is Saturn, Professor." See how smooth the conversation went from a boring planet to his favorite one? "And Saturn is neat because of its rings that look like hula-hoops." Come to think of it, he hadn't seen any hula-hoops laying around the castle. Maybe it was a muggle thing? So Carlton wiggled his hips as though he was using a hula hoop. Just so that they get the idea of how cool the planet was.

Rooney was still very upset about the art supplies here in the classroom and had no clue as to WHY they were going to be useful and were instead wasting valuable learning time. He supposed that they would be recreating the solar system picture into their own piece of artwork or designing their own planet which honestly, truly, really NOT something he wanted to be doing. Not at all. He chose not to answer and instead noted down everything that everyone else was saying. Did Professor Salvatore KNOW that she was starting a war on this whole Pluto and planet thing?
Colt knew Leon would answer the question. I mean he was a ravenclaw after all. They were rumored the smart ones of the castle. He even saw a gryffindor join their table (Olivia). He forgot her name but she seemed familiar. He nodded and pointed towards the empty seat. "Help yourself.." Kudos to her dealing with the older students. He saw the Professor give me an ugly look because he didn't greet her. Ah well, it was his choice. If she reported him then so be it. Stupid thing to report really. He heard the Professor shutting the door when the one student literally just made it. He chuckled because he used to be that way.
He paid attention a little bit and he heard the question. Which planet was farthest from the sun. Typical ravenclaw raised his hand in the air. The first one of the group. This head boy was impressed, he motioned his head towards him and said, "Yeah what Leon said.." He wouldn't bother repeating it.

Juno knew this answer, but so many people had already answered it, she decided to let the younger students have their day in the sun, so to speak. But she would for sure answer the next question.
This was definitely a controversial subject. Juno had always felt that Pluto should be considered a planet and that they never should have down graded it. She started doodling the solar system in the top corner of her notes, think about the subject and what her argument would be if she had a say in making it a full planet again.

Check that out. He had been JUST IN TIME actually, what luck! It actually worked out very well because also it meant that he didn't have to sit around for ages waiting for the class to start, and getting all jittery AND fidgety. In fact, Abey wondered if he could probably use this tactic more often, because of course he had meant to do that actually.

Abey had no intentions on giving any answers, seeing as how actually he wasn't very confident in this subject at all, and didn't want to end up looking stupid. So HE had spent the time admiring the paintings all hung up on the walls, on account of how HE WAS A PAINTER TOO ACTUALLY, AND he painted the sky TOO, but never quite like this.
It turned out to be a good job that Abey didn't raise his hand to answer, because it turned out that, as everyone else started giving their answers, they were saying something completely different than what he had thought. Reaching across the desk to pull the picture of the solar system a little closer to him, Abey scrunched his nose. HE had thought that that last one was Uranus, and that Neptune came between that one and... uhhh... Juniper. Yes, that. But... or... wait, was it Juniper or Saturn that was closer to Earth?

Noelle sat beside Janelle and gave her a big grin. The girl was a seventh year now. How in the world?? "Im good! How've you been??" The Gryffindor Prefect could remember that snowball fight. It had been fun.
Janelle was glad to hear that things were well with Noelle. As the prefect sat down at the table, Janelle responded to her question. "I've been great. I can't believe how fast the term is going though.". Her final year at Hogwarts would be over before she knew it and that was scary.
It was time for class to begin and Janelle listened as Professor Salvatore gave her introductory speech. Still curious about the art supplies, she tried to put that out of her mind......for now. For now she had to pay attention and be ready to take notes. Surprisingly though, the first question of the day came right away. Wait was this a trick question? Maybe, maybe not.
Janelle raised her hand and gave the answer that pretty much everyone else had already given. "Neptune is the farthest planet from the sun.". Unable to hold back her thoughts, she had to add her opinion on the matter. "Although.........I still think that Pluto was short changed by being downgraded. I think that it should still be counted as the farthest from the sun. I'm all for Pluto being a planet again.". Not that anyone asked or anything.

...This reminded the blonde that she wanted to do a bit more stargazing with Rooney at his earliest convenience. You know, if he felt up to it.
As for the proposed question, Liv resolved to mostly take notes; since this subject wasn't one of her strengths. Of course, everyone who'd had Airey Flamsteed as a professor, even for just one term, knew about the planets and their order in the heavens, and about Pluto... But again, that was in the before time, when she'd not cared to pay too much attention in any of her lessons. So, she wasn't entirely sure.
"Isn't it a bit difficult to know exactly?" Answering a question WITH a question; a Ravenclaw technique she'd picked up from some of her Ravenclaw people. "Couldn't there be planets that are so far undiscovered?" Unless she'd meant officially declared planetary bodies. Then, yeah, Liv only knew about Neptune.

And then there came the answers that Abey didn't recognise at all. Planet Nine? But Professor-Lady had said there were eight, hadn't she? And it was probably against all sorts of natural laws for professors to be wrong. Perhaps Derf had just forgotten its name or got all confused. As for Pluto...
"I've never even heard of Pluto before." That part was whispered solely for Junia's benefit.
... Except... had he heard of it?
Listen. It was difficult to remember all these things.
Brent grinned at Junia. "Cool name," he commented, and it was. He'd never met a Junia before. She looked to be about his age and was a Slytherin, too, which he was just about to bring up when some younger kid pretty much came and sat in her lap. Apparently, they knew each other pretty well. Brent watched their interaction and followed the boy with his eyes until the kid was kneeling on the floor.
"Hey," he whispered to him. "What's up, man? You want to sit here? I can scoot over." Apparently it meant a lot for this Abey to sit by his Junebug, and Brent felt like a terrible example letting him just kneel there like that.
The lesson hadn't moved on yet either, so they had some time to play musical chairs if he wanted.
Kat looked at the picture of the plants again. Neptune was the answer. But Katerina was too lazy to even raise her hand to answer not much. Since it had been answered so many other times already. First by her Katy Kat best friend, Katy. You go girl!
